Orchestration - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Orchestration
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” (Psalms 37:23, NKJV)

It is amazing how one’s life is orchestrated by the Lord if we have asked Him to direct our steps. I can attest to that in my own life, as I look back and see the pathway our good God has led over these many years. Truly it can be said that He will direct our steps - because we surely can’t do it. At least we can’t do it correctly.

Honestly did the Jewish prophet Jeremiah speak the truth when he declared, “I know, O Lord, that a man's way is not in himself, nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.” (Jeremiah 10:23, NASU)

Our trust in the Lord to direct our steps must be daily, knowing that our times are in His hands. I love how David spoke of his dependence on the Living God of Israel, even as he was being chased down by King Saul in the desert. He was committed to having unwavering faith, knowing that “My times are in your hand; rescue me from my enemies’ power, from those who persecute me.” (Psalms 31:16, Complete Jewish Bible)

In all our facets of life, one thing is certain. Our faithful God will always be faithful.

When I longed to be in service with a ministry back in the 1980’s, while the office manager of an office equipment dealer in Lansing, Michigan, little did I know that the Lord would answer my heart’s cry with the plans He already had in store. Not only would He place me in a Christian ministry having a worldwide effect on the nations, and in particular with a calling to bless Israel, but over these past 31 years, He actually had me work on staff with seven ministries.

Beginning with Derek Prince Ministries in 1987, by God’s design I was then asked in the years to follow to serve with six others - Mahesh Chavda Ministries/All Nations Church (Mahesh & Bonnie Chavda), Vision for Israel (Barry & Batya Segal), Covenant Keepers (Rex and Carolyn Johnson), Samaritan’s Purse (Franklin Graham), Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and now Antioch International Church (Dr. Peter Wyns and Jesse Enns).

Who knows where the Lord will lead each one of us as we give ourselves to His purposes and plans? Only He can bring about such amazing orchestration, as He places each in His Body for the good and service of all. Truly we can and must fathom His ways.

“Can anyone fathom the spreading of the clouds, or the crashes that come from his canopy?  See how he scatters his lightning over it and covers the roots of the sea. By these things he judges the people and also gives food in plenty. He gathers the lightning into his hands and commands it to strike the target. Its crashing announces its presence and apprises the cattle of what is coming.” (Job 36:29-33, CJB)

We can rest in the peace the Father gives as we offer Him our trust and walk in His ways. Those who seek after Him will know of His hand upon them, and can walk in the knowledge that even in times of trouble, uncertainty, or whatever comes our way, He gives assurance that He is orchestrating goodness and love in our midst, for protection, guidance, and provision for each member of His Body.

Today you can decide as always to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Trusting in Him will bring about the desires of your heart. He knows where He is taking us.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

The What Ifs - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

The What Ifs

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

"…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, NKJV)

We all have asked the “What if?” questions. Usually they come after a major tragedy in our life, or before a long anticipated event is about to happen, and we start asking the question.

Our son was involved in a single car accident very recently, resulting in the hospital ER and the ICU; with one surgery completed and another yet to come. On top of that, no insurance was in place by him to cover anything. No auto coverage except the bare bones, and no medical insurance either. It didn’t take long for the “What if” questions to start coming, both of those that came inwardly to our minds and the ones that came from without, from others who heard of the tragedy.

After seeing the mangled 2009 Hyundai Elantra he had been driving, just bought the week before, at its final towed location, the questions really started to flow in my brain.

“What if he had hit that tree head on?”

“What if there had been a passenger on that side, which took the major blunt of the horrible wreck?”

“What if another vehicle had been coming head on the other side of the median which he had crossed over during that midnight moment, which normally has much traffic on that city street?”

More and more they came, as further observations were made of Ben lying in the hospital bed fully sedated, the vehicle and the tree.

But then there was the tree. We most certainly know of the other tree, the one which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ hung on, to save us from the world which seeks to kill and destroy, and the eternal damnation hereafter for those with no hope.

Paul put it this way, “If there is no resurrection of the dead, then the Messiah has not been raised; and if the Messiah has not been raised, then what we have proclaimed is in vain; also your trust is in vain; furthermore, we are shown up as false witnesses for God in having testified that God raised up the Messiah, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.

For if the dead are not raised, then the Messiah has not been raised either; and if the Messiah has not been raised, your trust is useless, and you are still in your sins. Also, if this is the case, those who died in union with the Messiah are lost.

If it is only for this life that we have put our hope in the Messiah, we are more pitiable than anyone. But the fact is that the Messiah has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a man, also the resurrection of the dead has come through a man.” (1 Cor 15:13-22, Complete Jewish Bible)

So I am most grateful for the “what” that did occur. I am most grateful that our son’s life was spared, to fulfill the call on his life which began 37 years ago at birth. I am most grateful for the uncertainties that will become certainties – being certain because His Lord still has him in the palm of His hand, directing his steps along the way, using His guardian angels to cover the missteps with their protection assignments on that path.

Both Ben, Laurie and I and his family will face a lot of “what ifs” in the coming days, but we are standing on solid ground that our Lord Jesus’ grace, provision and assurance will always be ours, as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

The “what ifs” have, and will yet to be, the completed “See what the Lord has done.”

For this and all things we certainly give thanks to the Lord for His abundant grace and His ongoing mercy and love daily in each of our lives.

You can be certain of that too.

No Doubt About It - Now Think On This Steve Martin

No Doubt About It

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“When we see that you're just as willing to endure the hard times as to enjoy the good times, we know you're going to make it, no doubt about it.” 2 Corinthians 1:7, THE MESSAGE)

Life comes with doubts, no doubt about it. We wonder if we are going to “make it”; if our kids will make it; if the world will be here tomorrow; if the nation will end up being what we had hoped and prayed it would be.

No doubt about it. This is life. And life is hard often.

Even ones who had walked right alongside Jesus, day in and day out for over three years, had doubts, after His horrible crucifixion and tomb burial.

“But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples were saying to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." (John 20:24-25, NASU)

Having doubts is common, and we should not beat ourselves over the head when we have them. Rather, as we are encouraged to do, we need to keep trusting anyway.

Trust that what Jesus (Yeshua) said was true.

“Don’t let yourselves be disturbed. Trust in God and trust in me. In my Father’s house are many places to live. If there weren’t, I would have told you; because I am going there to prepare a place for you. Since I am going and preparing a place for you, I will return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be also. Furthermore, you know where I’m going; and you know the way there.” (John 14:1-4, CJB)

When you are anxious about your job – keeping trusting in Him.

When you doubt your marriage or whether you will even get married – keep trusting in Him.

When the rent or mortgage is due next week and your bank account has nothing – keep trusting in Him.

Many in life have nothing to fall back on. Those without hope cannot trust anything or anyone, for without Jesus there is no hope. Without the Solid Rock, which isn’t just a cliché, there is no solid rock.

But for those of us who do know Jesus, who know of His salvation, the miraculous times He came through for us, the hope within of life here and forevermore – we cannot doubt for long. We have the solid hope and assurance of today’s and tomorrow’s provision in spirit, soul and body.

Next time you have doubts – and there will be a next time, for the enemy continually bombards the Lord’s chosen ones – be reassured that your life is in His hands, He has not forsaken you, and what He has promised will come to pass.

Believers in Yeshua (Jesus) will always have a reason to believe – because our Lord and Savior has time and time again proven Himself Faithful on behalf of the nation of Israel, His worldwide Church, and all those who keep their eyes fixed on Him.

“…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, NKJV)

No doubt you will have doubts, but you will always have the eternal hope in Jesus. Keep strong in His Word.
