Read our movie review of LET THERE BE LIGHT! - Faith Driven Consumer

FDC Film Review
We love it when a big-time radio and TV commentator like Sean Hannity teams up with
a Hollywood veteran like Kevin Sorbo to produce a faith-driven film that tells a story
that’s relevant for our fast-changing culture. And that’s what’s happening with
LET THERE BE LIGHT.

Find out why we think this film will likely resonate well with faith-driven audiences
by reading our Faith-Friendly Film Review of LET THERE BE LIGHT, which opens
in theaters nationwide this Friday, October 27.

Brought to the big screen by openly Christian actor Kevin Sorbo (HERCULES,
GOD’S NOT DEAD) and his team at LTBL Productions in association with
WildFire Films, LET THERE BE LIGHT tells the story of “the world’s greatest atheist”
coming to faith after his humanist worldview is shaken to the core following a
near-death experience.

Along the way, this film tackles life-dominating anger and addiction issues, a grim cancer
diagnosis, and family reconciliation themes —all relevant topics for a culture seeking answers
to life’s big questions.

'God's Not Dead' Makes Box-Office History

'God's Not Dead'

Makes Box-Office

History

Divergent may have been the No. 1 movie at the box office this past weekend, but the movie everyone is talking about is the independent faith-based movie God's Not Dead.
Pulling in $8.5 million on the first weekend and amassing an impressive $10,979 per-screen average, the movie stands as further proof of the desire to see faith-affirming movies on the big screen.
God's Not Dead is a movie about Josh Wheaton, a freshman college student who is forced to defend his Christian faith against an angry philosophy professor. Starring Kevin Sorbo as the atheist professor, David A.R. White as a priest who encourages Josh and guest appearances by Duck Dynasty stars Willie and Korie Robertson, the movie also ends with a performance from the Newsboys as they perform their song "God’s Not Dead."
Freestyle Releasing co-president Mark Borde, who distributed the Pure Flix Entertainment movie, states, “While this huge opening may be a surprise to the industry, it is not so much to us. The in-house tracking, the legitimate 1 million Facebook fans, the very high trending on Twitter and Fandango among many other platforms, and the huge positive reaction from the hundreds of screenings over the many past months, gave us hope for a significant opening.”
With Son of God already pulling in $55 million domestically and several other-faith based films slated for the next month, including Noah and Heaven Is for Real, it seems quite clear that more than ever, God is working in the hearts and minds of Americans through the medium of movies.

Actor Kevin Sorbo - "God's Not Dead' Star Speaks Out Against Hollywood's Christian Stigma

"God's Not Dead' Star Speaks Out Against Hollywood's Christian Stigma

Kevin Sorbo
Kevin Sorbo (Facebook)
Actor Kevin Sorbo has some harsh words for comedian Bill Maher, who recently called God a “psychotic mass murderer” while discussing the upcoming film Noah.
“All I can do is feel sad for the guy because I think he’s a very angry, lonely man,” Sorbo said in an interview with Newsmax to promote his new film, God’s Not Dead, which released Friday. “There’s no reason to try and talk to a guy like that because he has so much hate."
“I wonder what happened to him in his lifetime,” the actor added. “The atheists I’ve met—not all of them are angry. I’ve got some very good friends who are atheists. They just don’t believe. They simply don’t believe. We’ve had great debates. ... [Maher just] has so much hate.”
The actor continued, “Morals are declining, the country is going under. We are getting worse and worse, and everything is OK, according to half the population of this country. Not everything is OK.”
Sorbo, who plays an atheist professor in God’s Not Dead, has also spoken out about the stigma Christians face in Hollywood.
“There’s a negativity towards Christians in Hollywood,” ChristianHeadlines.com reports him saying. “And a negativity towards people who believe in God.”
The actor who once played Hercules says he has noticed a difference in how he is treated in Hollywood since he publicly came out as a Christian. He says he has not been offered as many roles as he was in the past, and he doesn’t understand why his faith should affect his work.
“I don’t begrudge them—why do they begrudge me?” he asked.
Sorbo believes Hollywood will stop treating Christians negatively when believers stand up for their beliefs.
“The silent majority is starting to get annoyed with what’s going on,” he says. “I think more people need to start speaking about it instead of just sitting there and taking it. ... It’s happening; you’re getting attacked; you need to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.”
