Alabama Supreme Court Rules Unborn Baby is a Person - Veronica Neffinger ChristianHeadlines.com

Alabama Supreme Court Rules Unborn Baby is a Person

Alabama Supreme Court Rules Unborn Baby is a Person

The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that a wrongful death lawsuit brought by a woman
who claims her doctor caused her to have a miscarriage by administering an abortion-inducing
drug can proceed.

Kimberly Stinnett’s usual doctor was reportedly out the day of her appointment. Karla Kennedy,
the doctor who was filling in that day, believed that Stinnett had an ectopic pregnancy since she
had had one previously. Thus, Kennedy decided to administer methotrexate, a drug that, as the
court noted, is “intended to cause the end of the pregnancy.”

However, when Stinnett’s usual doctor, William Huggins, examined her pregnancy via
ultrasound, he found that Stinnett did not have an ectopic pregnancy after all, but instead
had a normal intrauterine pregnancy. He said that Stinnett’s pregnancy was now doomed
to fail, however, quite possibly from the methotrexate.

A few weeks later, as predicted, Stinnett suffered a miscarriage. She then took her case
against Kennedy to court, alleging that the doctor had unnecessarily ended a viable pregnancy.

The initial court dismissed the case, but when Stinnett appealed her case to the Alabama
Supreme Court, it was ruled that her case stands and must be heard in the lower court.

The court’s decision to allow Stinnett’s case to proceed has significant implications for
the pro-life movement since they based their decision on the belief that Kennedy had
possibly contributed o a homicide--meaning that Stinnett’s unborn baby was a person and
not simply a fetus.

“The use of the viability standard established in Roe [Roe v. Wade] is incoherent as it
relates to wrongful-death law because, among other reasons, life begins at the moment of
conception. The fact that life begins at conception is beyond refutation,” wrote Judge
Thomas Parker.

“Members of the judicial branch of Alabama should do all within their power to dutifully
ensure that the laws of Alabama are applied equally to protect the most vulnerable members
of our society, both born and unborn,” Parker added.

Chicago Cubs Ben Zobrist Shares Christian Faith:

Veronica Neffinger Editor, ChristianHeadlines.com | Tuesday, November 01, 2016

Chicago Cubs player Ben Zobrist uses his platform to share his Christian faith and says
that “We all need Christ.”

Zobrist has been given some incredible opportunities in his baseball career. Last year,
he won a World Series title with the Kansas City Royals, and this year he has the opportunity
to win another World Series with the Cubs who are looking to win the World Series for the
first time since 1908.

“We know that as a Christian athlete, people are watching, and so we want to be the best
example we can be and show that we are different – that Christ has changed our lives,"
Zobrist said in 2013. "But at the same time, I want people to know that grace is for everyone.
We all need grace. We all need Christ.

Zobrist has been a starting player for every game in the 2016 World Series between the
Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. He is listed as a second baseman, but also plays other positions.

His wife, Julianna Zobrist, is a Christian musician, and Zobrist uses her song “Alive” as
his walk-up song. Julianna Zobrist could be seen closely watching Ben at bat during the
World Series matchups.

The couple has written a book together about their Christian faith and career journeys
titled Playing With Purpose.

“The biggest thing is, I’m still learning,” said Zobrist. “I still have a lot to learn about
what the love of Christ is like – that it's not just knowledge ... but it's allowing the truth
to change you – allowing Christ's message of grace and hope and love through the cross,
that that message is the message that changes the way we look at everything in our lives."

Ben Zobrist has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2016 World Series while helping the
Chicago Cubs secure their first title since 1908.

The outfielder had the game-winning RBI double in the 10th inning of the dramatic Game 7
victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Baseball Reference noted the historical importance of the game-winning hit:

The average LI in extra-innings, 1-out, runners at 1st and 2nd in a tie game is 4.47 .Based on that,
Ben Zobrist just got the 6th highest leverage hit ever in a #WorldSeries Game 7.

He also finished the series batting .357 with a .419 on-base percentage, getting a hit in six of the
seven games. Zobrist has now won back-to-back titles after winning the World Series with the
Kansas City Royals last season. ESPN Stats and Info provided an interesting note on the
veteran player:

Ben Zobrist: 1st player to win World Series MVP in first season with team since Jermaine Dye,
2005 White Sox (was with Athletics in 2004).

Per Odds Shark, the No. 4 hitter had 10-1 odds to win this award coming into the series, tied for
second-best among Cubs players behind only Jake Arrieta. He lived up to expectations with a
strong performance throughout the seven games.

He finished with a .250 batting average and five RBI in 17 postseason games.

His wife, Julianna, provided motivational words from her view of the big play:

Cubbie fans never walk out. We never quit. We never stop believing. And my man always comes to play. DID SOMEONE OR…

David Ross hit a key home run in his last game before retiring.

Still, it was Zobrist who took home the hardware, helping break the longest championship
drought in professional sports in his first season with the team.

Actor Kevin Sorbo - "God's Not Dead' Star Speaks Out Against Hollywood's Christian Stigma

"God's Not Dead' Star Speaks Out Against Hollywood's Christian Stigma

Actor Kevin Sorbo has some harsh words for comedian Bill Maher, who recently called God a “psychotic mass murderer” while discussing the upcoming film Noah.
“All I can do is feel sad for the guy because I think he’s a very angry, lonely man,” Sorbo said in an interview with Newsmax to promote his new film, God’s Not Dead, which released Friday. “There’s no reason to try and talk to a guy like that because he has so much hate."
“I wonder what happened to him in his lifetime,” the actor added. “The atheists I’ve met—not all of them are angry. I’ve got some very good friends who are atheists. They just don’t believe. They simply don’t believe. We’ve had great debates. ... [Maher just] has so much hate.”
The actor continued, “Morals are declining, the country is going under. We are getting worse and worse, and everything is OK, according to half the population of this country. Not everything is OK.”
Sorbo, who plays an atheist professor in God’s Not Dead, has also spoken out about the stigma Christians face in Hollywood.
“There’s a negativity towards Christians in Hollywood,” ChristianHeadlines.com reports him saying. “And a negativity towards people who believe in God.”
The actor who once played Hercules says he has noticed a difference in how he is treated in Hollywood since he publicly came out as a Christian. He says he has not been offered as many roles as he was in the past, and he doesn’t understand why his faith should affect his work.
“I don’t begrudge them—why do they begrudge me?” he asked.
Sorbo believes Hollywood will stop treating Christians negatively when believers stand up for their beliefs.
“The silent majority is starting to get annoyed with what’s going on,” he says. “I think more people need to start speaking about it instead of just sitting there and taking it. ... It’s happening; you’re getting attacked; you need to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.”
