Israeli Hospitals Treat Thousands of Arabs. Where's the Media Coverage? - Israel Today

Israeli Hospitals Treat Thousands of Arabs. Where's the Media Coverage?

Friday, April 07, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
No further evidence is necessary of the mainstream media’s anti-Israel bias than it’s total lack of coverage of the fact that Israeli hospitals routinely treat Arab patients from all over the Middle East.
Instead, the media paints Israel as a heartless and bigoted society that only wishes ill on its Arab foes.
i24NEWS showed in a recent report what’s going on at just one Israeli hospital, and it’s not at all what one would expect from listening to the likes of CNN and the BBC.
In cooperation with the Israeli NGO “Save a Child’s Heart,” Wolfson Medical Center in the central Israel town of Holon has treated thousands of Arabs in recent years.
Most of the patients have been Palestinian Arab children in need of life-saving surgery, which is fully covered by “Save a Child’s Heart” and the Israeli taxpayers.
Many other patients have come from war-torn Iraq. Others have from from as far away as Afghanistan.
In one instance, a princess from the emirate of Bahrain insisted on having critical surgery in Israel, insisting that only in the Jewish state would she receive the treatment needed to save her life.
Isn’t that curious? After all, Israel’s antagonists suggest that an Arab who falls into the Jewish state’s hands is more likely than not to lose his life. They say Israel is a nation of “child-killers.”
But here these Israelis are, not killing, but saving the lives of thousands of Arab children.
And the media is silent.

Will This Pro-Life March Get the Same Media Coverage as the Women's March? - JEN RETALLICK/HAMILTON STRATEGIES

Will This Pro-Life March Get the Same Media Coverage as the Women's March?

This past weekend, media around the country provided collective hours of coverage and pages of commentary on the "Women's March" in Washington, D.C., which, in essence, protested the inauguration of President Donald Trump and called for reproductive rights for women.
Now, a group of organizations concerned with saving the lives of the unborn is demanding that the media grant fair coverage to the March for Life at the nation's capital this Friday—Jan. 27, 2017.
The American Family Association (AFA), one of the nation's largest pro-family organizations, along with its One Million Moms division, has signed on as part of the Alliance for Fair Coverage of Life Issues.
"Those who are defending the unborn deserve just as much media coverage as those who are disrespecting the political process and marched in anger in Washington," said AFA President Tim Wildmon. "It's time that the mainstream media give Americans a true picture of our entire society, not only the liberal, progressive, politically correct messages it deems worthy for coverage."
Added One Million Moms Director Monica Cole, "Millions of women—mothers, daughters, wives and sisters—around the country fight every day for unborn babies who never had the chance to reach their God-given potential. Yet their dedication and commitment goes unnoticed to the point of where the rest of the world is kept blind to 'the other side.' Media is supposed to present a fair and unbiased view of the news, but is failing the American people."
Today, the Alliance for Fair Coverage of Life Issues announced its second annual #CoverTheMarch campaign, demanding the media cover the 2017 March for Life and cover it fairly. The annual event in Washington, D.C., draws hundreds of thousands of peaceful participants from all over the country. This year's March for Life marks the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion on demand.
The Alliance for Fair Coverage of Life Issues, a coalition of 25 pro-life organizations and two members of Congress was formed in 2016 in response to the consistently poor coverage media outlets have given to important, newsworthy life issues. Last year's censorship of the March for Life (which received only 35 seconds of coverage total from the networks) confirmed the media's contempt for those who don't share their liberal social agenda. Since the media covered the pro-abortion "Women's March on Washington" this year for 4,518 seconds, they should give comparable coverage to the hundreds of thousands of peaceful pro-life marchers.
"The media are no longer the watchdogs for the American public, but the lapdogs of a liberal agenda committed to the destruction of life," reads the coverthemarch.com website. "The Alliance for Fair Coverage of Life Issues calls out journalists for their ongoing blackout of pro-life news and demands reporters live up to the standards of journalistic integrity by covering life issues." Read the Alliance's news release here.
At coverthemarch.com, organizers for the Alliance will engage in a "Tweet-fest" on Twitter on Friday and will represent all partners that have signed on, which include the American Principles Project, Family Research Council, For America, Human Life International, LifeSite News, Media Fairness Caucus, the Susan B. Anthony List, Students for Life, Heartbeat International, Live Action and the Young America's Foundation. View a full list of member organizations at coverthemarch.com.

Christians Violently Attacked Near Bethlehem

Christians Violently

Attacked Near Bethlehem

Wednesday, May 14, 2014 |  Ryan Jones  ISRAEL TODAY
The Feast of Saint George, a pretty important holiday for Palestinian Christians, recently ended, but it didn’t end well for those celebrating at the festival’s focal point, the Monastery of Saint George near Bethlehem.
Saint George’s Monastery is located in the village of al-Khadar, which is the name used for Saint George in Arab culture. Every year, Palestinian Christians, and even some Muslims, gather at the monastery, as well as at other locations throughout the region, to commemorate George’s martyrdom and dedication to his faith.
During this year’s festival, which occurred on May 6, the Christians gathered at Saint George’s were beset by Muslim provocateurs and assailants.
“Some local Muslims either tried to park a car too close the church and/or tried to enter the church during a service honoring St. George - the initial instigation isn’t clear. But when the intruders were asked to leave, one of them stabbed a Christian man who was outside the church serving as a guard. He was hospitalized. Several then started throwing stones at the church. 7 or 8 Christians were injured and some physical damage was done - broken windows etc. The police didn’t show up for an hour.”
One of the victims managed to record a portion of the attack on his cellphone and uploaded the footage to YouTube, where it has since been seen by over 20,000 people. And still, media coverage of the attack has been sorely lacking. Perhaps everyone is too busy furiously criticizing Israel over a few youth scrawling graffiti.
The Christians in the video, including crying children, can be seen cowering in fear as they are besieged by Muslim hooligans whom the authorities did very little, if anything, to stop.
This is from the same Bethlehem where Christ at the Checkpoint organizers say Christians and Muslims live in harmony; this is from the same “Palestine” the international community labels as “moderate” in its justification for establishing yet another Arab state; and this is happening, right next door, as everyone ignores realities and accuses Israel of abusing minorities, of being an “apartheid state.”
