Don’t be caught looking too Jewish or Christian. Cookie Schwaeber-Issan, All Israel News

Don’t be caught looking too Jewish or Christian

Would you be shocked to discover that in the year 2025, looking too Jewish or sounding too Christian could immediately relegate you to a disenfranchised status?

Well, you shouldn’t. This is the new iteration of progress in a world which seems to be going backward rather than forward. Instead of learning from the mistakes of history, so as not to repeat their tragedies, we seemed to be unable to overcome our worst tendencies.

Sadly, we are witnessing the return of intolerance against Judeo-Christian beliefs playing out right before our eyes.

Only a few days ago, a local Christian minister was told by the Muslim mayor of Dearborn, MI that he wasn’t welcome in his own community.

Pastor Edward “Ted” Barham probably never imagined that publicly registering his complaint, at a city council meeting where a discussion took place concerning the naming of street, in honor of a controversial Arab American publisher by the name of Osama Siblani, would result in his vilification.

The pastor quoted a Siblani speech stating, “We are the Arabs who are going to lift Palestinians all the way to victory whether we are in Michigan and whether we are in Jenin. Believe me, everyone should fight within his means. They will fight with stones, others will fight with guns, others fight with planes, drones and rockets.”

Protesting what sounded as a call to violence, Barham felt a moral obligation to acknowledge the publisher’s long record of whitewashing terror.

One example was a 2003 Washington Post comment stating, “Mr. Bush believes Hezbollah, Hamas and other Palestinian factions are terrorists, but we believe they are freedom fighters.”

It’s not surprising that Abdullah Hussein Hammoud, Dearborn’s first Shia Muslim mayor would show hostility toward the pastor, because that Islamic sect does not legitimize Christianity.  On the contrary, their position is that the salvation of one’s soul is only attainable through submission to Islam.

By his highly offensive and intolerant response, the mayor apparently believes that deference should already be afforded to the large Muslim population who voted him into office, relegating the sensitivities of others to a place of no importance or consideration.

The mayor went on to suggest that the pastor leave his city, so that he could celebrate his departure. That statement reflects a deliberate and blatant disenfranchisement of an American Christian from his own hometown.

In essence, unless he accepts the decision to honor a violent Muslim, he is being told that he has no place in the community where he has always lived. To question or show any measure of disapproval is met by an invitation to exit the city.  In short, it comes down to approve or move!

This is what’s happening in the heartland of America, but, perhaps, it’s indicative of things are changing faster than we know.

Just a year ago, a similar incident occurred when a Jewish man, wearing a kippa (traditional skullcap) tried to cross the street, in the City of London. Told to leave the area where a pro-Palestinian march was underway, he was told that he would be arrested if he didn’t comply.  The reason given by the police was that he looked too Jewish.

While some might commend the police officer for his concern over the man’s safety, the bottom line is that anyone whose appearance identifies them as a Jew, may no longer have the freedom of movement in certain areas.

Another 2024 incident involved a Jewish man who was told to “get out of a comedy gig in London which took place at the Soho Theatre, featuring comedian Paul Currie.”

In last week’s Jerusalem Post newspaper, there was yet another shocking report a Gothic shop in Flensburg, Germany whose owner hung a sign on the door which read, “Jews are banned from entering here.”

A few hours later, a pizza shop in Furth, Germany similarly posted a sign warning that Israeli customers were banned in that establishment.

All of these occurrences are deeply disturbing, because each one highlights a growing apprehension towards Jews, shared by Americans, Brits and Europeans, all of whose countries have sizeable Muslim communities which have elected municipal leaders who happen to adhere to Islam.

In the case of Germany, these prohibitions appear to have been made by local citizens who have decided that Jews and Israelis are not worthy customers to patronize their shops.

These examples point to the liability of either speaking out as a Christian, who is against honoring violence, or being told that looking too Jewish will result in the loss of your freedoms. The thought of Jews being banned from businesses is all-too reminiscent of the dark days of Germany when it bitterly turned against its Jewish community without fighting against injustice and intolerance.

What we are witnessing, this time, is the commonality of persecution, amongst Jews and Christians, both hated by radical Muslims as well as Woke Progressives. The aligned bigotry of these two groups coincidentally serves their particular ideologies.

Possibly the worst statement was one just made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who just a week ago “warned that white Christian are responsible for so much damage.”  How will such a comment be met by anyone who already hates Christians?

If the goal is to marginalize Jews and Christians, it’s likely that these incidents will only multiply, testing the limits of how far religiously observant people can be disqualified from full participation in society.

Will governmental leaders take up this fight against the religious persecution of Jews and Christians? If not, it will simply embolden others to further oppress and deprive them from the same rights and privileges enjoyed by others.

Of course, the alternative is to keep silent or surrender to abandoning one’s lifestyle in favor of their safety. Many of us have heard stories of friends and family members who are wearing baseball caps in public places rather than a kippa.

Reminded, yet again, that these despicable attacks occur at our holiest places and on Yom Kippur, two Jews were murdered just outside of a Manchester UK synagogue.

Will Christians begin to experience similar incidents?Jews and Christians share the misfortune of being targets of ethnic and religious persecution. If this is not met with resistance by political leaders and ordinary people, the ugliness of history will, indeed, repeat itself again.

Can This Spiritual Weapon Erase 1,400 Years of Biblical Misconceptions?

SHAWN A. AKERS CHARISMA NEWS
Weapons of mass destruction" is a term commonly used by those bent on world domination. The Rev. Dr. Bassam Chedid, however, believes he possesses the most powerful weapon of all, what he calls a "weapon of mass instruction."
That weapon is the Word of God in the form of the Arabic Study Bible (ASB). With God's help, he's trying to place this weapon into the hands of as many Arab Christians and Muslims as possible.
Founder and president of the Children of Abraham (COA) organization based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Chedid is confident that the Holy Spirit will use the ASB to convict Muslims and erase 1,400 years of their misconceptions about the gospel of Jesus throughout the world.
"The Holy Spirit is moving in mighty ways among Muslims," Chedid said. "When we hear of the dreams and visions these precious souls have, it is only God illuminating to them the gospel truth found in His Word and drawing them to Himself, generating in their hearts the transforming knowledge of Jesus Christ applied by God the Holy Spirit.

"For many reasons, when they are first introduced to Christ, Muslims become confused about how to make sense of it. There are so many millions of brothers and sisters who are trapped in the Islamic system, but praise God, He is bringing the sheep back into the fold—He is bringing them to Himself."
Blessing Generations of Arabs
Published in 2014, the ASB took more than five years to complete. Chedid served as the general editor of the project, which he said took a lot of "prayer and sweat."
Working on the Bible was "a labor of love for me, a lot of work, but very rewarding," Chedid said.
The ASB became the first one of its kind to hit the market. Many of the Bible's features, including theological articles, notes on the unfolding of God's story of salvation and an appendix explaining Scripture's redemptive message, will be helpful to the readers of the ASB.
Because of the many Muslims coming to Christ throughout the globe, the ASB has become especially crucial for new converts.
"As a young Christian, I longed for a study Bible in Arabic where I could find exegetical helps, background information and definitions of theological terms, but it was simply nonexistent," said Tony Maalouf, director of the Islamic Studies Program and associate professor of missions at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. "This work will definitely prove to be a blessing for generations of Arabs. Today, we are witnessing crucial socio-political transformations in the Arab world. It is my deep conviction that the ASB will be a unique and great catalyst for that change."
However, like many other ministries, COA faces a huge challenge: finances. The leatherbound ASB is expensive to produce, and the ministry website says COA can send just one Bible per $60 gift.
COA also produces a basic Arabic Bible without commentary notes, which costs only $7.
Chedid's goal is to get the ASB into the hands of 100,000 Arabic Christians—and potential Arabic believers—in the hope that members of those groups will hold God's Word into their hearts and produce disciples exponentially. He realizes this outcome will require a massive partnership effort.
"Not only are the Bibles costly, but it's also costly to send them airmail," Chedid said. "The need is great, and the Lord is enabling us with the resources we have, but it certainly isn't enough.
"What we would like to do is get information in the hands of churches that have a real burden for reaching the lost and for making disciples. We can accomplish the task, but we need that 'weapon of mass instruction'—the Word of God—to do it."
Calling From God to Reach Muslims
A missionary first introduced Chedid's grandfather to Christ, who then passed this knowledge along to Chedid's father. Chedid's father went on to attend Bible college in Lebanon and years later, saw his young son come to Christ.
"Even though I am from Syria, I came from a Christian background," Chedid said. "Unlike the majority of the people in that country, I did not grow up in a Muslim family, and I knew about Jesus from a very young age. I thank God for that, and it only fueled the fire for me to help Muslims find their way to Christ. I knew all along it was a calling God had put upon my life. I realized how much of a challenge it would be, but I also realized how rewarding it would be. And, it certainly has been."
When it was time for Chedid to pursue his formal education, he came to the United States in 1977 to attend Simpson University in Redding, California, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He then received a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Missiology degree from Reformed Theological Seminary, during which time he founded COA, aiming to reach Arabs across the U.S. and Canada with the gospel.
After initially accumulating nearly 16,000 names and addresses of these Arabs, Chedid began publishing the magazine Al-Kawkab—translated "The Morning Star" from Revelation 22:16: "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star."
Written from a distinctly Christian viewpoint, the magazine includes articles that capture the truth of the gospel and take a fresh look at issues facing the Arab Christian population.
Al-Kawkab has become the largest means of outreach for COA to the North American Arab community, which has large concentrations in the Northeast, Florida, Northern and Southern California, Chicago, Dallas and Houston. COA's mailing list has grown to nearly 200,000, but as with the ASB, finances have become a concern.
For instance, 20,000 names on COA's mailing list did not receive its magazine's December issue. When subscribers ask why, the ministry replies that it must do this on a rotating basis, and those subscribers will certainly receive the next issue.
"It's heartbreaking, because you know the need," Chedid said. "The great missionary to Islam, Samuel Zwemer, said at the turn of the century: 'If Muslims are ever to understand Christianity in its saving truth and its wholesome life, we must place before them the Word of God and good biblical literature.' We are trusting the Lord to help us continue doing just that."
Even with the distribution of Al-Kawkab, however, COA reaches only a small percentage of Arabs in North America. In 1930, only one mosque existed in the United States, but today, there are more than 1,200, and nearly 80 percent of those are less than 10 years old.
On the other hand, Chedid says more Muslims have come to Christ in the last 50 years than in the 1,400 years since Islam began.
Facing Ministry Challenges
Because of the significant differences in culture, problems arise when presenting the gospel to both Arab Christians and Muslims. Chedid says that, for the most part, Muslims don't have a choice to pursue any religion other than Islam or any other God but Allah.
"Historically, the church has made meager efforts to present the authentic message of the gospel to Muslims," Chedid said.
In analyzing this issue, he refers to Romans 10:2, in which Paul says, "For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge."
"Most Muslims had had little chance to believe because they have heard and seen so little of the gospel," Chedid said. "They have zeal, but it is headed in the wrong direction. We need to remember that Muhammad and many generations of his spiritual followers have not had the Bible in their own language, and so they have not understood the gospel. The truth of God's glorious self-revelation in Christ and His Word has been hidden from millions of Muslims. We wonder why Muslims today look upon the Word of God with suspicion. History and our allegiance to the Word of God demand that COA be committed to place the Word of God in the hands of many Muslims."
When talking to Muslims about Jesus, Chedid and COA ministry workers must overcome another hurdle, the fear potential converts feel as they face reprisal for accepting Christ.
"Indeed, that is a challenge for all Christian workers," Chedid said. "To leave Islam and to embrace another religion—for them, this is treason. There are many punishments, including death, and the enemy uses that fear as a weapon against the gospel. Some are so confused and afraid to accept such a religion for fear of their families dishonoring them. Their churches, if they make it that far, are targeted by radicals. And then there are those who do not find a nourishing fellowship. It's a multifaceted issue."
Syrian refugees are pleading for Bibles. "Will you help us help them?" is the question a missionary working among Syrian refugees—who number more than 1 million—recently asked Chedid.
He says the ASB is the greatest gift to help them discover the truth of Scripture and grow in grace. It is the prayer of the COA ministry to send several thousand Bibles to Syrians.
In addition to distributing the ASB, Chedid says he hopes to increase subscriptions to Al-Kawkab worldwide to reach more Arab Christians.
In North America, COA conducts seminars to inform churches about the challenges of Islam.
"Once we equip these people with the tools they need, it is our job to help them get the Word of God in their hearts," Chedid said. "Then and only then can we take down the real enemy and his deceit and lies. Imagine a world where millions of Arabs come to Christ. It will certainly reinforce our confidence in God's promise: 'I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.'"

"Women of God - Rise Up and Answer the Call!" - Dehavilland Ford, The Elijah List

Dehavilland Ford: "Women of God - Rise Up and Answer the Call!"

The Elijah List Feb 28, 2019

Steve ShultzIntro From Julie A. Smith:
I so concur with this most powerful word for women from Dehavilland Ford. God is raising up women to be culture and societal reformers in the lands He is calling them to.
As women, we often think we are limited to maybe one area of influence and that's where our calling stops. But not so! Women in the Church are being called to multiple venues at the same time to have impact not only in ministry, but also in education, media, government, and so on. Women of God – you are being called not only to one area of influence, but multiple mountains that will work and connect together. This will bring culture shifts and set many women free and into a new calling in Christ.
And know this – what you do to help even one woman will be multiplied many times over to other women...just like a domino effect!
This word by Dehavilland is on the very heart of God in this hour for women:
Many of us will never understand what it's like to have a price on our head for the Gospel. However, God in His mercy is calling forth a remnant of women out the greatest oppression, and healing their wounds. He is calling His Church to wash the wounds of a hurting society made up of the most oppressed women and children. That night, God confirmed this to me in a dream.
Women of God, this is a NOW word to get behind and start walking into! Be empowered in the new territories and places of influence God is calling you to pioneer! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

HR

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I heard a knock at my door very late at night. It was a young pastor friend of mine who was seeking shelter because the police were looking for him to arrest him. His crime: helping a young woman escape her Muslim parents who allegedly wanted to kill her for converting to Christianity.
This young lady was protected and would go on to fight her parents in court and had to suffer many trials for her conversion. She and I later became very good friends. As the years went on and life became busy, I lost contact with her (mostly due to her trying to protect herself and others). After a few years of separation, while watching Christian television, I rediscovered my friend, Rifqa Bary. She had matured into a vibrant young woman, and I watched her boldly share her story of this on a national TV show in the USA called The 700 Club! In spite of her life still being under assault, she shared on the program how she escaped Islam and how God is now using her testimony.
A Dream of the Rising Remnant
After watching this, I went to bed with a deep heart of gratitude before the Lord for preserving her life and allowing me to see the fruit of it. Many of us will never understand what it's like to have a price on our head for the Gospel. However, God in His mercy is calling forth a remnant of women out the greatest oppression and healing their wounds. He is calling His Church to wash the wounds of a hurting society made up of the most oppressed women and children. That night, God confirmed this to me in a dream. (Photo via Pixabay)
In the dream, I was at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, at an outdoor prayer gathering with thousands of people. A spiritual father of mine, Lou Engle, was handed the microphone and began to say, "It's time for the women preachers to arise! If you're called and you're a woman preacher, get up here." Suddenly thousands began running and charging the stage. My spiritual father then said, "OK, I guess I'm done here." I then said to him, "You're not done, because it's time for you to release your mantle, like Elijah, on a company of Elishas, except they are women. This is not going to just mark them, but brand them."
I then got on an elevator to go into a room where I saw hundreds of Muslim women dressed in burqas, who I knew were empty and spiritually hungry. They were waiting to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We began praying for the women, and the dream ended.
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
Dream Interpretation: Wake Up Sleeping Beauty!
The dream took place in America at a memorial to President Abraham Lincoln – who is recognized for his work in freeing the slaves – because God is releasing an "Emancipation Proclamation" to women preachers. Their prayers have come up as a memorial before God, and they are being called to take their place on the stage of history. The older generation of preachers are not done, until they raise up their sons AND daughters. God wants spiritual fathers and mothers to pass their mantle to their double-portion daughters as well, to preach with Holy Spirit power. The women in burqas represent not only the impact this will have in the Middle East, but women being emancipated from every religious bondage through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
In short, I believe this dream represents how God is waking up His sleeping beauty, the Church, and how women will play a key role in liberating the nations. The mandate of Joel 2:16 is to break this bondage through repentance. God called His servant Joel to call the nation of Israel to come together in the place of fasting and repentance for the sins of the nation.
How to Break the Bondage
It is interesting to me because, as women, we often ask our children to repent when they've done wrong, or our spouses when they've made mistakes. Well, I believe God is asking women to take the first step in repentance. Why must women repent? In America, we opened the doors to feminism and liberalism – two movements that resulted in the abortion crisis, all done in the name of having rights to our own bodies. As a result, over 60 million babies have been aborted. Women must take responsibility as priests before the Lord in brokenness for what breaks our heavenly Father's heart. In response, God will act on behalf of our prayers. (Photo via Pixabay)
In conclusion, I have a charge for the women who are reading this: You may not have a major platform before men, but you have the most powerful weapon in your hands; it's called prayer and fasting! I believe fasting and prayer are forerunners to revival and awakening – that's where Joel 2:16 and Acts 2:17 come into play. God pouring out His Spirit on all flesh is a result of the Church being aligned with God's heart. Do you want to see revival in your city, your public school, and your workplace? It starts with you and me in prayer and fasting. This is the place God will anoint you with power.
Acts 1:8 says, "...but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." This power will come upon a fasting and praying people because you can't break the back of Islam or abortion (or any stronghold for that matter) in the natural. It's not enough to be a popular speaker or charismatic preacher. Beloved, you must have the power of God.
This power is already being poured upon women all over the world and God is visiting Muslims in dreams and revealing the Messiah. God is rescuing young girls from sex slavery and using fearless, laid-down lovers to partner with Him, and many of them are women. God is calling housewives and businesswomen to humble themselves so He can use them as His witnesses in the earth and be used in this great move of God in every sphere of influence!
A Charge to Women
Women of God, my charge to you is this: In the name of Jesus, take your place! You have a voice before Heaven that now will be used on Earth. You are emancipated and are being empowered to preach the Gospel! Women, its time to answer the call, to run the race set before you and contend for an epic outpouring. Take up the charge and preach the Gospel. It is Psalm 68:11-12(NASB) which says, "The Lord gives the command; the women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host: 'Kings of armies flee, they flee, and she who remains at home will divide the spoil!'" Women, when you respond to this call you will impact your homes and societies!
