Take a 'Moment' to Love Your Life! ✡ "Speak Unto B’nei Yisrael" - ISRAEL365

Speak unto B’nei Yisrael, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto Hashem, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd,
and of the flock.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The book of Leviticus describes in great detail all of the various offerings that were brought in the Temple. The Hebrew term for offering, ‘korban,’ comes from the Hebrew word ‘karov,’ meaning close, since they are meant to bring people closer to the Eternal One. It is for this reason that the common translation, sacrifice, is insufficient, as it does not accurately portray the essence of the word.  While the person bringing the offering might be giving something from his personal possessions, he gains much more than he gives.  Now that we no longer have sacrifices, it is through prayer that we come close to our Father in Heaven. When you subscribe to The Israel Bible's daily reading plan, you can join the hundreds of thousands of people all over the world reading over the very same words thus uniting all of the Bible's readers each and every day.

Haftarah: The Spark of Sanctity in Blue, White, and Red

This week's haftarah explores a deeply stimulating question that has no doubt puzzled scholars for generations: What, if any, is the connection between creation and the Book of Leviticus?

Why Wear a Tallit During Prayer?

In Numbers 15:38, God commands the Nation of Israel to tie fringes onto their four cornered garments. This Bible verse is recited during the morning prayer service known as Shacharit. It is therefore customary to wear a prayer shawl during morning prayers. Wearing a prayer shawl is the ideal way to fulfill the commandment of tying fringes as the individual wearing the prayer shawl is completely wrapped in and surrounded by the garment. Watch this video for further instruction on the proper method of donning a Tallit.

Today's Israel Photo

Today's photo by Boruch Len shows one of the many beautiful old synagogues of Safed (in Hebrew, Tzfat), dating from the 16th century. Incredibly, 500 years later, this synagogue is still in use! Its vaulted ceilings, colorful decorations, and ancient Torah scrolls are an open invitation to all!
