Today's Israel Inspiration

The name of the Holy City of Jerusalem in Hebrew is Yerushalayim, ירושלים. This very special name has two important words inside it. Yirah meas fear, and it is a combination of awe and fear that everyone is supposed to have for the Almighty God.  Anyone who has ever been to this holiest of cities can surely feel this tremendous level of connection to God. The second word is Shalom, peace. The prayer of all who serve God is that He will bless the entire world with peace. The best place to make a close connection to God and to pray for peace is in His Holy City, Jerusalem.

50 Years of Christian Support for Jewish Jerusalem

There are countless miracles to celebrate upon the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. Perhaps surprising to many Israelis are the largely untold stories of heroic Christian support for Jewish Jerusalem over the past half-century.

IDF Soldiers Liberate the Old City of Jerusalem

In June 1967, Israel’s soldiers overcame Arab troops and reached the Western Wall — the ancient remnant of the Jewish temple. At that moment, the Old City of Jerusalem, lost to the Jewish people for 2,000 years, was finally in Israel’s hands.

Trump Makes History Praying at the Holiest Site in Israel

Only a few short days before the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, President Donald Trump along with his wife Melania and daughter Ivanka made history as they visited the Western Wall in the Old City. As the last remnant of the ancient Holy Temple, the Western Wall has held a prominent spot in Jewish consciousness for centuries. Since the establishment of the modern State of Israel in 1948 and more importantly, since the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967, Jews from around the world have made the journey to be able to touch the stones of the Western Wall and pray at this holy site. In a great show of solidarity with Israel and the Jewish people, Trump is the first sitting US President to have visited the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Israelis Mark Jerusalem's Reunification - 48th year

Israelis Mark Jerusalem's Reunification

Sunday, May 17, 2015 |  Aviel Schneider  ISRAEL TODAY
Israel today celebrated the 48th anniversary of the reunification of its ancient capital, Jerusalem, during the Six Day War in 1967.
In its more than 3,000-year history, only once has Jerusalem been divided, and that was between 1948–1967, when Jordan ruled its eastern side.
This joyous occasion is marked with a well-attended march through the city, as celebrants wave Israeli flags and dance through the streets of their beloved Jerusalem. At the Western Wall, thousands showed up to thank the Almighty for His grace in again returning Jerusalem to the Jewish nation, and the Jewish nation to Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority and the Muslim world at large continue to vow that they will not rest until Jerusalem is “liberated” from the Zionists. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has repeatedly stated that Jerusalem belongs to Islam, and that the Jews have no right to it. Despite such belligerent rhetoric, Pope Francis on Saturday received Abbas at the Vatican and labeled the Palestinian leader an “angel of peace.”
Among Israeli politicians, Jerusalem is one of the few topics on which they can agree, with lawmakers from left-to-right adamant that the city will never again be divided. Indeed, no Israeli government could possibly survive surrendering the Temple Mount.
As such, the international community has a fundamental problem, because a two-state solution is no longer realistic. For virtually all of Israel, Jerusalem is not up for negotiation, while the Palestinians won’t sign a deal that doesn’t include control of the city’s eastern half. How can such a “peace process” ever hope to succeed?
