Unique Treasure - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Unique Treasure

“For you are a people set apart as holy for Adonai your God. Adonai your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his own unique treasure. Adonai didn’t set his heart on you or choose you because you numbered more than any other people — on the contrary, you were the fewest of all peoples. Rather, it was because Adonai loved you, and because he wanted to keep the oath which he had sworn to your ancestors, that Adonai brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from a life of slavery under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 7:6-8, Complete Jewish Bible)

Some understand and get it when I explain to them why we, Love For His People ministry, support Israel and the Jewish people. They know that the Word of the Lord, complete from Genesis through Revelation, explains the redemption process the Almighty God Himself gave to us, from eternity.

And others? Well, not so much.

My good wife Laurie and I depart today for this journey across the Big Pond (May 1, 2019 - my 20th trip to Israel, which being an accountant I keep track of), to the land, which is now flowing with milk and honey, literally, as promised. I want to again write of that which the Lord Himself called the Promised Land, for the Jews, and why it is such a huge “because”.

Simply put, God created Adam and Eve, the first man and woman (yes, true stories that really happened as written in all the Bible) and gave them life from which they later turned against due to the commitment of sin. This separated them from having fellowship with God. Then this very same God proceeded to bring forth His plans and purposes: send a Redeemer, through a chosen people, to once again have a family who would love Him, His only Begotten Son Yeshua, outworked through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

This God-head, Three-in-One, wanted to share His eternal love with an eternal people, for all eternity. Because a path was needed to come back into His fellowship, and a blood sacrifice was required to redeem mankind from sin, He would send His Son, His only Begotten One, through the people called the Jews, for all the nations to receive His mercy and love.

The people could, if they would, receive Him, the Redeemer. If they received His free offer, fellowship would be restored.

And that is as simple as you can state it.

So how more completely was He going to do it? How would He reveal Himself, His love and mercy, His abundant grace reaching out to any and all who would seek, find, and accept His free offer of forgiveness, reconciliation, and redemption?

He chose the Jews, since the very beginning, to bring forth His plan, to themselves and all the nations. He sent His Son, Yeshua, to become a man, a Jew, and suffer, die, be crucified, and rise from the dead, as the Blood Sacrifice that God required, to cleanse mankind from sin.

As the above quoted, written Word clearly states, “Adonai (the Lord) your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his own unique treasure. Adonai didn’t set his heart on you or choose you because you numbered more than any other people — on the contrary, you were the fewest of all peoples. Rather, it was because Adonai loved you, and because he wanted to keep the oath which he had sworn to your ancestors…”

God the Almighty, the Creator of the Universe, the One Who is above all and everything that has ever been created and exists. This very One chose the Jews. These exact ones who, through the many centuries since that choosing, have been miraculously brought through generations and generations of hardship, persecution, destruction many times over, and yet live on, in the Land of Israel and beyond, proving that God is God (Yahweh, Yeshua, Jesus, Lord of all, King of kings, Ancient of Days, Three in One, etc.) and that His Faithfulness and Truth, promised for all eternity, will not be stopped, with not be thwarted, and will never be beaten by Satan and his hordes of demons and principalities.
No nation, no dictator, no country filled with anti-Semitism, will keep the One and Only from completing His perfect plan and purpose, begun with man in the Garden, to the complete fulfillment of all prophetic words – spoken and written – up through the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. All these redeemed people, from all nations, will then be seated with Him and His Son Yeshua HaMashiach in His heavenly realm.

This unique treasure, the Jews, those who through it all, despised and rejected, just like their Messiah Yeshua was, are the ones who have carried these promises of redemption and restoration for these thousands of generations. This people, whom the Lord describes as the olive tree, has been brought through the test of times, and now shine forth from their land of promise, Israel.

God the Father gave His promise to the Jews, and through this very tree, the olive tree as described throughout Scripture as a visual for all, has also extended His offered life to the Gentiles, described as the wild branches of the olive tree.

Some have falsely believed, to this very day, that the Jews gave up their inheritance when they failed to recognize Jesus’s first coming as the promised Messiah. But as the apostle Paul clearly states in Romans, it was only for a time, to allow the Gentiles, non-Jews, to also receive the promise of salvation.

As he so adequately wrote in Romans 11:11-16, “I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!

For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

You will say then, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in." Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness.

Otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

"The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;” (NKJV)

Our commitment as believers, as Christians, in support of the Jews and their Land of Israel, Eretz Y’srael (Hebrew - Land of Israel) becomes stronger every day, as these end times further proves the existence and the outworking of God’s holy plan.

Those who chose to stand with His chosen people will reap the benefits of the same, this unique treasure to which the nations will either stumble over or acknowledge as the work of God.

We go today in support of our friends, believers in Yeshua, and rightful heirs of the Land He has brought them back to. May your heart and soul also be in support of these through whom the Savior of the world, Yeshua HaMashiach, has come, will come again, and justly rule from the very city He has placed His eternal Name on, Jerusalem, in Israel.

Now think of this,

Ahava and shalom,

Ambassadors & Cheerleaders - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Ambassadors & Cheerleaders

“I have heard a message from the Lord, and an ambassador has been sent to the nations:
"Gather together, come against her, and rise up to battle!” (Jeremiah 49:14, NKJV)

Those who know the Lord have been called to be His ambassadors here on earth. We have been chosen for a high calling, something not to be taken lightly. We represent His Name, His authority, His life in those places and to those people He has placed us in and about.

Being an ambassador, as the dictionary says, is one who is “an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country.  It is a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.

This is not a choice we have, but a very specific duty and obligation the Lord Himself has given to each one of us. The choice we do have is whether we will carry out our duties and responsibilities or not, and to what extent.

When an ambassador is sent from his homeland to another country, to represent his government to that government and country he now works in, he doesn’t just decide to think and do what he believes he is to do. He has been sent to give the input from his sending President and the authorized leadership he walks under. Otherwise, he is not representing the rightful authority, but his own. That is not his purpose, nor his decision.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, as ambassadors, He gave them certain commands they were to follow.

“These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.  But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.  Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.

"Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out.  And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.  And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.  Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!” (Matthew 10:5-15, NKJV)

Because they represented the government and authority that Jesus had, they were required to follow His instructions and do as He Himself would have done.

We are to do the same. We are to be the ambassadors that the King of the Universe has sent us here to be.

In addition to being good ambassadors, we are also called to be cheerleaders. As those who are commonly found at sporting events, the ones who typically do the “Rah! Rah!” and “Go team go!” (but with a little more creatively than I just used…), they cheer on, whether for the ones just starting out in their first year on the soccer and football fields, or the professionals with years of experience. Cheerleaders are commonly walking the perimeter of the field, getting the crowd fired up in support of their home team. They bring encouragement.

As the psalmist wrote, we need cheering on. From Him personally, and through each other.

“Who will champion my cause against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers? If Adonai hadn’t helped me, I would soon have dwelt in the land of silence. When I said, “My foot is slipping!” your grace, Adonai, supported me. When my cares within me are many, your comforts cheer me up.” (Psalm 94:16-19, Complete Jewish Bible)

“First, I thank my God through Yeshua the Messiah for all of you, because the report of your trust is spreading throughout the whole world. For God, whom I serve in my spirit by spreading the Good News about his Son, is my witness that I regularly remember you in my prayers; and I always pray that somehow, now or in the future, I might, by God’s will, succeed in coming to visit you. For I long to see you, so that I might share with you some spiritual gift that can make you stronger —  or, to put it another way, so that by my being with you, we might, through the faith we share, encourage one another. (Romans 1:8-13, Complete Jewish Bible)

As ambassadors also, cheerleaders represent the owners of the sports team and must be physically fit to properly perform their cheers and encouragement for the team they also represent. So, we too must keep ourselves strong, and keep building one another up in His purposes and plans.

We often will find ourselves put in locations and events where we are called upon to cheer on our friends, our co-workers, our family, our nation. We have been chosen to share the light, the truth, that which will bring encouragement to those looking for such, so much needed in our times.

A spoken word here, a Scripture shared now, an acknowledgment of approval given to one who is discouraged – all of these can be done as we represent the King, being His ambassadors and His cheerleaders.

People need the Lord. (Thank you, Steve Green, for your song powerfully sung decades ago!) People need to hear good news, have good news, and abide by good news.

We have been called as ambassadors and given the job of being cheerleaders, to share with our neighbors and the nations the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is His righteousness, honesty, truthfulness, and holiness that we all need currently.

Be a good ambassador, and cheer on while doing it!

Now think on this.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Count the Stars - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Count the Stars
Steve Martin

“Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." (Genesis 15:5, NKJV)

Have you ever tried counting the stars? If you live in a city or suburban area, you can hardly see any stars at all due to the bright night lights that light up the sky, which prevent the heavenly lights from shining through to your eyes. You must get out into the country, away from the glow of mankind’s rays, to see the ultimate canopy of the Lord God, Creator of the universe. Then you will experience His awesomeness.

In the summer of 1973, fresh out of the Catholic high school in Waterloo, Iowa, (Columbus High, home of the Sailors!) I went on a mission trip to the hill country of northern Georgia. Blairsville, Georgia to be exact. Northeast of Atlanta, somewhat near the North Carolina state line. A group of older teenagers went on the six-week adventure to lead a summer Bible youth camp for underprovided kids, sponsored by a Catholic mission.

Being 18, I loved it! Quite the adventure driving my two-door, metallic blue 1963 Mercury Cougar all the way from Iowa, through Cincinnati, OH. It was a great time, forever stored in my memory banks. (Read the full story in my book, The Promise – One Man’s Journey to See God Revealed).

One thing I very much remember to this day were the nights, both black and white. At those late times of the finishing day (or the beginning of the new day, as with the Jews, as written in the Torah when God created each day), if the clouds covered all above you, you could raise your hand in front of your face and not even see it. It was that so utterly dark. Midnight blackness!

But if it was a clear night, looking up from these northeastern mountains in Georgia, the Lord God Almighty revealed Himself in glory, for the stars were fantastically brilliant. The heavens were filled with His creation in one of His very vast realms. Because of the sheer numbers, you could not count the stars. Wow!

Imagine the promise the Lord had given Abraham, beginning in Genesis 12, of the immense number of descendants that was coming forth of his lineage, if he obeyed. Once he had heard the Lord’s word to “leave your country and go to the place I will show you”, the promise for Abram (later changed to Abraham) was beginning to unfold. His reward would be great.

“Now Adonai said to Avram, “Get yourself out of your country, away from your kinsmen and away from your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, I will bless you, and I will make your name great; and you are to be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

So Avram (Abram) went, as Adonai (the Lord) had said to him, and Lot went with him. Avram was 75 years old when he left Haran. Avram took his wife Sarai, his brother’s son Lot, and all their possessions which they had accumulated, as well as the people they had acquired in Haran; then they set out for the land of Kena‘an (Canaan) and entered the land of Kena‘an.” (Genesis 12:1-5, Complete Jewish Bible)

Obedience to the word of the Lord, written in His Word the Torah, the Prophets and the Psalms (and all of the Bible), will always bring a reward. Abraham believed, and it was rewarded to him. And not only to him but “…all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)

“By trusting, Avraham obeyed, after being called to go out to a place which God would give him as a possession; indeed, he went out without knowing where he was going. By trusting, he lived as a temporary resident in the Land of the promise, as if it were not his, staying in tents with Yitz’chak (Isaac) and Ya‘akov (Jacob), who were to receive what was promised along with him. For he was looking forward to the city with permanent foundations, of which the architect and builder is God.

By trusting, he received potency to father a child, even when he was past the age for it, as was Sarah herself; because he regarded the One who had made the promise as trustworthy. Therefore this one man, who was virtually dead, fathered descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and as countless as the grains of the sand on the seashore.” (Hebrews 11:8-12, Complete Jewish Bible)

In Genesis 215:1, the Lord even says to him that it would be an “exceedingly great reward.”

When we hear and obey the Lord, He honors our faith we have thus demonstrated. He will then allow His favor to come upon us, and He will provide covering and protection for not only us, but also for those whom He has given under our care and watch – our families, our churches, our cities, our nation.

Next time there is a clear night, drive out from the city lights, and look up. Try counting the multitude of stars if you can. When Abraham saw those very same heavenly creations centuries ago, he believed that the Creator would keep His promise. And He certainly did. Not even the hatred and anti-Semitism of all these past centuries could keep the Lord from fulfilling His promise to the chosen people the Jews, and all believers who call upon His name and were martyred for their faith.

Just look at the state of Israel today, and you know that the Living God, the Lord God of Israel, has indeed kept His promises. As Luke wrote in Acts 3:21, it is now the “times of restoration of everything which God spoke through the mouths of His holy prophets from eternity.”

Have you ever received a word from the Lord? You most certainly have! The Bible itself is His guaranteed Word to you. Believe it! Walk in His promises! See Him move in your life, your family, and even in this nation, the very one you live in.

Go out and try counting the stars some night. Sense the ever-living Holy Spirit’s presence lift your spirit to the eternal heavens. Have even more faith and believe our God the Father for even more of Himself!

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).
