Feeling the Bible ✡ "May There Be Well-Being Within Your Ramparts" - Israel365

May there be well-being within your ramparts,
peace in
your citadels.

Psalms 122:7 (The Israel Bible™)

יְהִי־שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ שַׁלְוָה בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָיִךְ
Hear the verse in Hebrew

ye-HEE sha-LOM be=KAY-laych shal-VHA be-ar-me-no-TAY-ech

Feeling the Bible

Sefer Tehillim, the book of Psalms, is first and foremost a shining example of biblical poetry. This genre conveys the word of Hashem (God) in a different medium than narrative; it focuses not on what one reads or hears but rather on what one feels and intuits. The Bible integrates poetry throughout its 24 books, reminding the reader of the infinite nature of Hashem and the multivalent dimensions of His word. The addition of poetry to the biblical landscape teaches the reader to gauge the cadence, rhythm, rhyme and meter in the divine expressions.

Today's Israel Inspiration

Did you know that every synagogue in the world is built facing Jerusalem? Since both Europe and the United States are west of Jerusalem, their synagogues were traditionally built facing east. But in any part of the world, when a synagogue is built, it always faces Jerusalem. Thus, whenever a Jew prays, he faces this Holy City. Focus your heart on the blessings of the Holy Land with a beautiful Blessing for the Home in English and Hebrew, courtesy of Meir Panim.

MOST Inspiring Thing About Israel

A film crew travels all over Israel, and asks Israelis from all walks of life, “How does Israel inspire you?” Their answers will astound you!

Today's Israel Inspiration

Did you know that the windows of the holy Temple were constructed in an unusual way? The window frames became narrower on the inside (I Kings 6:4), which as builders could tell you, hinders sunlight from entering. It teaches that the House of God did not need any light from the outside. The light of the Temple flowed outwardly to benefit the world. Today an inspiring light flows forth from the incredible volunteer work of Karmey Chesed ("Vineyards of Kindness"), caring for the poor and needy of Israel.

This Land is Ours

Israel's new Deputy Foreign Minister marked her first day in office by quoting the Bible and stating that the Jewish people need not apologize to the world for its presence on every inch of the Holy Land.
