The Pilgrimage to Jerusalem ✡ "All Thy Males Appear Before Hashem Thy God" - ISRAEL365

Three times in a year shall all thy males appear
before Hashem thy God in the place which He shall choose; on the feast of unleavened bread,
and on the Shavuot, and on the Sukkot;
and they shall not appear before Hashem empty.

Shabbat Inspiration

The Hebrew word ‘shalosh’ means three. Three indicates a strong unit or bond, as it says in Ecclesiastes (4:12), “A chain of three cannot be undone.” Perhaps for this reason there are three times a year when every Jew is commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem and appear before God. This guarantees that he will re-connect with his Creator at least three times a year, ensuring that the bonds between them remain strong and will not be undone. Today, tens of thousands of Jews make the pilgrimage by foot to the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The Israeli climate often leaves these pilgrims tired and hungry upon their arrival at the Western Wall. Colel Chabad generously provides food and water for these pilgrims to alleviate their discomfort and allow for them to worship and pray happily and without physical distraction.

"A Man Went from Bethlehem of Judah" ✡ Lesson from the Book of Ruth: Stand with Israel! - ISRAEL365

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the Land, and a man went from Bethlehem of Judah to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he and his wife [Naomi] and his two sons.

RUTH (1:1)

Shabbat Inspiration

Naomi's husband and two sons were all leaders of their generation who were severely punished with untimely deaths after settling "in the fields of Moab." Their punishment was the result of the grave sin of abandoning the Land of Israel during a time of famine. Their actions greatly demoralized the struggling nation of Israel. This first lesson of the Book of Ruth contains a valuable message for us today. We must not turn our backs on the Promised Land, especially in her time of need. For the last decade, Meir Panim (lit. "lighting up faces") has provided food and support for tens of thousands of needy men, women, children and seniors, including many elderly Holocaust survivors, throughout the Land.

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord...Psalm 127:3 (Israel365)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,

the fruit of the womb a reward.

PSALM (127:3)

הִנֵּה נַחֲלַת יְ-הוָה בָּנִים שָׂכָר פְּרִי הַבָּטֶן

תְּהִלִּים קכז:ג

Today's verse bestows acknowledgement upon God who blesses
His children with children and the privilege and responsibility to
raise and nurture them, all who are created in His image. The premier
pro-life organization in Israel, Save a Jewish Baby/EFRAT, has
found a simple solution to lower the number of abortions in the
Holy Land due to economic concerns of the parents. For up to t
wo years, "Save a Jewish Baby" provides - to proven financially
needy families - everything from cribs to baby formula to food
and clothing.

Watch the inspiring speech of U.S. Congressman Trent Franks,
a true Christian friend of Israel, speaking highly of Israel's
premiere pro-life organization, EFRAT.

Recently the Knesset held a conference sponsored by the
Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality.
One of the main topics of discussion was the abolition of
governmental abortion panels in Israeli hospitals.

Chai is the Hebrew word for "Life" and it is a traditional
symbol to show our strong value for life and future. Made
of sterling silver with a matching chain, this classic "Chai"
makes a beautiful necklace and statement.

Today's photo by Noam Chen captured an exuberant
moment in the life of children running towards their father,
in the Jewish quarter of the Old City, Jerusalem.
