Ariel Shayla and chicks
Many of you have met our older son Ariel, director of the Medabrim site on Facebook, and his lovely wife Shayla, who leads the children's ministry at Kehilat Ha Carmel near Haifa. Thank you for blessing their ministry at Tree of Life and their three children.

Avi and Liora in uniformNow we'd like to introduce you to our younger son Avi and his beautiful wife Liora who are expecting their first child next month!  They live in Jerusalem and are part of King of Kings Congregation.  Avi teaches Krav Maga, Israeli hand to hand combat, and through this he's been able to share Messiah with his students.  He also works closely with Ariel on Medabrim where both our sons spend many hours each day chatting with Israeli seekers.  Liora helps Avi at the Krav Maga studio and she's also studying at the only Israeli believers college to become a counselor - she's going to make a great one!

After a joyful evening in our Galilee home, we sent some friends in tour groups to Avi and Liora where they reported that they thoroughly enjoyed the brief hands-on seminar on what to do in the event of a knife attack! Afterwards, Avi shared testimonies about Israeli seekers finding Messiah - so encouraging!
Richard loves to train with Avi when in Jerusalem, and even I took this seminar so if I can learn a little Krav Maga, so can you!  Thanks so much for prayerfully considering bringing your groups to them and please keep them in prayer.  Feel free to contact them directly at:  hyde.avi@gmail.com  / liora.hyde@gmail.com
CITIZENSHIP CASES

When the Ministry of Interior, MOI tried to throw Shayla out of Israel, Michael Decker, our lawyer, took the MOI to court where they were required to state the reason for this.  But they couldn't justify their actions so now we have a court date at a high court in Jerusalem on September 26.  Shayla, Ariel and Michael will make an appeal for her right to citizenship so thank you for praying for favor and a just decision!

We do thank G-d that Liora finally received a work visa!  What should've come in 2 weeks took 2 years...

We write L-rd and G-d in this way because it's a Jewish custom that Carolyn grew up with and it's done only out of reverence and honor for the name of the L-rd.  Thanks for understanding.

Shana Tova! Happy Jewish New Year! - Jews Will Blow the Shofar in Synagogues

Shana Tova! Happy Jewish New Year! The Shofar Resonates from the Past. Jews Will Blow the Shofar in Synagogues

"Blow the Shofar at the New Moon...Because It Is a Decree for Israel, a Judgment Day for the God of Jacob" - Psalms 81 Jews around the world prepare for Rosh Hashanna, the festive New Year holiday when the shofar -- ram's horn -- is blown in synagogues.

The American Colony photographers in Jerusalem recorded a dozen pictures of Jewish elders blowing the shofar in Jerusalem some 80 years ago. The horn was also blown in Jerusalem to announce the commencement of the Sabbath. During the month prior to Rosh Hashanna, the shofar was blown at daily morning prayers to encourage piety before the High Holidays.
