I Can’t Get No Satisfaction
Now Think On This
Steve Martin
“Adonai will fulfill his purpose for me. Your grace, Adonai, continues forever. Don’t abandon the work of your hands!” (Psalms 138:8, Complete Jewish Bible)
So why is the average Joe, a typical representative of people in America, and other nations I would think, unhappy, unfulfilled, and always trying to put something in ourselves that won’t bring satisfaction.
You know, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” (lyrics below, but please read after you have read my message) brought to us rather honestly in 1965 by the English rock band The Rolling Stones with lead singer Mick Jagger. (I know you have heard and listened to it. Don’t pretend you haven’t!)
One line is sung, “When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come on the radio, he's tellin' me more and more about some useless information, supposed to fire my imagination.”
How true is that even today with all the fake news out there! And yet we keep listening. Why?
Because we are trying to fill up something that wasn’t meant to be filled in this way.
So why are people unsatisfied? Why is there always a void in their heart, which they try to fill in natural and unnatural ways, with drugs to kill the resulting pain; alcohol to release away the inhibitions so one can be “free at last”; mindless TV shows that suck away our evening hours (and throughout the day), and unfaithful, out-of-marriage sex to cancel the craving?
Because man, created in the Lord’s image, runs from Him, the only One Who can give us what we want, and need.
We run as far as we can from the very One Who fulfills us. Believing He is a bad God, a mean God, out to destroy us, we end up destroying ourselves. We have bought into the complete lie of the devil, Satan himself. He is the father of Lies, to keep us from the Father of Love.
We seek our own ways, our own selfies, our cultured ideas of what it is all about, and we end up with nothing to last past the next day, week, or month. Then after looking back, we fully realize we have wasted all those years, the time that was given to us by our Creator, the Lord Jesus Himself, by having done our own thing. Just like everyone else.
But our Faithful Lord will not leave us in hopeless despair, in ruined lives, as desperately seeking housewives or renegade males. He has a big heart, and wants to share it with the hurting, the lost, the abandoned kids, and parents too. He alone has the truth, and the power, to do this.
Here is the truth He had written eons ago. Don’t skip or skim over it because it is Scripture. (I know we do at times.)
Read it. Believe it. It is for you. Right here. Right now.
From the Bible, the only solid ground and truth left that there is to stand on these days...
"This is God's Word on the subject: "As soon as Babylon's (or yours – I added that, yours, to let you know this is for you now) seventy years are up and not a day before, I'll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out — plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. When you come looking for me, you'll find me.
Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed.” God's Decree.
“I'll turn things around for you. I'll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you — God's Decree — "bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.” (Jeremiah 29:10-14, THE MESSAGE).
What hope! What love! What a God we have, Who can bring you the satisfaction, the fulfillment in your heart, the desire to “be somebody” that you have so longed to be.
This same portion of Scripture, given to the Jews and being prophetically fulfilled in our lifetime in Israel, is also for those Gentiles (non-Jews) who will also call upon the Living God of Israel.
Even old believers, who have been searching for so long, can be refreshed, renewed and refired for the work He has yet for you to accomplish.
So what do you do now?
Call upon the name of the Lord, seek His face with all your heart that you have, and let His Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew) guide your steps to the next step. Right now is a good time.
Trust me. He is faithful. He will do it. And you will be glad you finally let Him take control of your life.
You still have one to live.

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released in 1965. It was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. Richards' three-note guitar riff—intended to be replaced by horns—opens and drives the song. The lyrics refer to sexual frustration and commercialism.
The song was first released as a single in the United States in June 1965 and was also featured on the American version of the Rolling Stones' fourth studio album, Out of Our Heads, released that July. "Satisfaction" was a hit, giving the Stones their first number one in the US. In the UK, the song initially was played only on pirate radio stations, because its lyrics were considered too sexually suggestive.[3] It later became the Rolling Stones' fourth number one in the United Kingdom.
In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" in the second spot on its list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The song was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2006.
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
The Rolling Stones 1965
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
He's tellin' me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watchin' my tv and a man comes on and tell me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get girl reaction
'Cause I…
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get girl reaction
'Cause I…
