Christians Demonstrate Against BDS - Israel Today

Christians Demonstrate Against BDS

Wednesday, March 13, 2019 |  Israel Today Staff
Around 150 Christian friends of Israel in the Netherlands joined with Jewish leaders to protest a motion made by the GreenLeft party in support of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, The Jerusalem Post reported.
“How would you react if I would say, ‘I embrace the Nazism of Hitler-Germany?’” These were the words spoken by Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs, the chief rabbi of the Netherlands during the demonstration on the doorstep of the national GreenLeft offices in Utrecht.
“A serious mistake, that encourages anti-Semitism,” the rabbi said. “But just like the German ‘Autobahn’ is only a small part of the murderous Nazi-time, the boycott of products from Israel is only a small part of the goal of BDS. BDS stands for the destruction of Israel, not only the boycott of a few products from the so-called occupied territories,” he explained.
Roger van Oordt, director of Christian for Israel, said that the GreenLeft calls BDS a “legitimate means in a justified battle,” that is the first step toward the destruction of the State of Israel.
Christians for Israel also sent a statement to GreenLeft describing the dangers of BDS, and asked the party to distance itself from the poisonous movement.
“We hope that GreenLeft will think about it and stay far away from anti-Semitism,” van Oordt said.
The Dutch GreenLeft party was formed by a merger of four left-wing parties: the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Pacifist Socialist Party, the Political Party of Radicals and the Evangelical People's Party.
How Evangelicals can cooperate with communists and radicals is a puzzle. In recent years, the malformed party has grown in popularity and has been trying to impose anti-Israel policies on the government of the Netherlands. Why the Dutch think they have something to say about Israel is bizarre, but whatever the reason, the green party want Holland to boycott Israel.

JERUSALEM, Israel – God can speak to us through signs in the heavens, but the primary way God speaks to Christians is through His Son, said Stephen Bridge, the director of Jerusalem's Garden Tomb.
Some 300,000 Christians from around the world are expected to visit the Garden Tomb  this year. Many believe that it's the garden and sepulcher of Joseph of Arimathea, and therefore a possible site of the resurrection of Jesus.
In light of the upcoming solar eclipse, which will be visible across parts of the United States on August 21, CBN News asked Bridge if he thinks God is still speaking to us by signs in the heavens.
"I think that some of that depends on our own personality – and I'm not downplaying that – but the biggest way God speaks is through His Son," Bridge said.
"So the writer to the Hebrews draws that out. In former times God spoke in many and various ways through the prophets, but in the last days He's spoken through His Son and so for us that Jesus is the revelation, Jesus is the Word made flesh, Jesus is the ultimate sign and His death and resurrection, the ultimate sign of that," Bridge said.
The Bible tells us there were three hours of darkness when Jesus was hanging on the cross and the moment he gave up his spirit "the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks split."
"The four Gospel writers each pick out different facts that are not in any way contradictory but they are highlighting different facts in order to make strongly the points they particularly are trying to make," Bridge explained.

Matthew is the only Gospel that mentions the darkness.  But the central theme of all is that "that the word became flesh and the flesh, the Word of God, died on a cross just outside the city walls of Jerusalem and that in so doing God carried in His own body of the Messiah the sins of the world and through Him reconciled all things to Himself," he said.
Could that darkness have been an eclipse and what did it mean?
According to NASA, a solar eclipse, when the sun is darkened, only lasts a few minutes. Based on that information, it couldn't have been an eclipse.
"We have no explanation of what it was or even what it meant, but it certainly would have invoked in the people who were there a profound sense of something monumental, which indeed it was," Bridge said.
So how should believers relate to the upcoming astronomical events?
"Keep our eyes on Jesus," Bridge he said, pointing out that so far everyone who predicted a date for the return of Jesus or the start of the tribulation has been wrong.
"So I think we just need to be cautious, fix our eyes on Jesus, hold firmly to scripture and keep proclaiming the mystery and the profound victory of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah."

Love For His People - Our newly appointed Lahore, Pakistan Director - Moses Julius

Love For His People
Our Lahore, Pakistan Director
Moses Julius

June 15, 2017
Charlotte, North Carolina USA

Greetings to all.

In 2013 the Lord God of Israel began a connection with Moses Julius of Shalom Today Ministry with Love For His People, through a simple email correspondence. I had not really given much thought to it at the time, but the Lord had His plans and purposes to be accomplished.

After a few years of supporting his ministry there, with regular, monthly gifts, Moses, who is also the Director for Shalom Today Ministry, this spring officially became the Director also for Love For His People - Pakistan. He is now in the process of setting up our legal documentation in the country of Pakistan, beginning this month.

His love for the Lord Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach, and his love for the people of Israel is a joy to Laurie and I. With his desire to teach children the Bible and the Feasts of the Lord, along with his commitment to help widows and single moms provide for their families through his sewing center, we are honored to have Moses represent Love For His People in Pakistan.

We are blessed, and seek to bless the people of this country also through the ministry.

Thank you Moses! Welcome aboard!

Shalom (peace)and ahava (love),

Steve Martin

A special greeting to Moses and the kids in 2013, when I was in Israel.

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: ISIS launches chemical weapons attack in Iraq injuring 600.

ISIS-flag

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

As top officials warn ISIS will attempt “direct attacks” in U.S. homeland in 2016, ISIS launches chemical weapons attack in Iraq injuring 600. Here’s the latest.

by joelcrosenberg
There is a real and growing and chilling concern among top intelligence officials that ISIS is steadily developing the ability to launch massive, genocidal attacks against its enemies using chemical weapons. Whether ISIS is planning such attacks inside the U.S., in Europe or only within the Middle East, is not yet clear.
Ghastly attacks of precisely this sort are the premise of my two most recent novels,The Third Target and The First Hostage. When I began researching and writing the series, however, there was no actual evidence that ISIS possessed -- or had access to --  weapons of mass destruction. But the situation is changing for the worse.
Also last month, James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, told a security conference in Munich that ISIS has chemical weapons and wants to use them against the United States. "It is pretty clear that they [ISIS] have used this [chemical weapons] numerous times," Clapper said. "It is very clear aspirationally they would like to do more and it is a concern to us in the United States because the indications are that they would like to use chemical weapons against us.”
Now, just this week, we've learned that ISIS has just launched two attacks in the city of Kirkuk using chemical weapons. At least 600 Iraqis have been injured by the attacks. One little girl is dead. Hundreds of other Iraqis have fled for their lives. Iraq's Prime Minister is vowing revenge for the attacks.
Recently, U.S. special forces captured ISIS's chemical weapons chief. "Sleiman Daoud al-Afari was snatched close to a month ago in the town of Badoosh, north-west of the Isis stronghold of Mosul," reported the UK Guardian. "A senior Iraqi official said he was an industrial engineer in former dictator Saddam Hussein’s military and had been a member of Isis throughout all its earlier incarnations." This week, U.S. forces handed over the terrorist to the Iraqi government.
U.S., Iraqi and Kurdish forces have been attacking ISIS chemical weapons production facilities. It is likely that knowledge of these facilities came from intel provided by al-Afari.
But the risk is increasingly high that ISIS is planning "enormous and spectacular attacks" in Europe, the U.S., in Israel or in a Sunni Arab country, as a top British security official recently warned.
  • The Islamic State group has launched two chemical attacks near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, killing a 3-year-old girl, injuring some 600 people and causing hundreds more to flee, Iraqi officials said Saturday.
  • Security and hospital officials say the latest attack took place early Saturday in the small town of Taza, which was also struck by a barrage of rockets carrying chemicals three days earlier.
  • “There is fear and panic among the women and children,” said Adel Hussein, a local official in Taza. “They're calling for the central government to save them.” Hussein said a German and an American forensics team arrived in the area to test for the presence of chemical agents.
  • The wounded are suffering from infected burns, suffocation and dehydration, said Helmi Hamdi, a nurse at the Taza hospital. He said eight people were transferred to Baghdad for treatment.
  • U.S. and Iraqi officials said U.S. special forces captured the head of the ISIS unit trying to develop chemical weapons in a raid last month in northern Iraq.
  • The U.S.-led coalition said the chemicals ISIS has so far used include chlorine and a low-grade sulfur mustard which is not very potent....
  • The coalition began targeting ISIS' chemical weapons infrastructure with airstrikes and special operations raids two months ago, Iraqi intelligence officials and a Western security official in Baghdad told the AP.
  • Airstrikes are targeting laboratories and equipment, and further special forces raids targeting chemical weapons experts are planned, the officials said....
