You Are The One - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

You Are The One
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine, because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven.” (Philippians 3:14 ERV)

Hanging in our former car garage, which is still attached to our house, though not used for the original purpose intended, is what some would call a “man cave”. (No, there is not a husky man with furry fur on his body and meatless bones sticking out of his mouth living there.) And within this cozy dwelling hangs an NFL football jersey. This specific piece of clothing sticks out among the other shirts I have hanging from one of the also former garage door rails. (It is still a rail, but now serves with a different purpose, as noted.)

This specific blue, orange and white team shirt, with the number 15 sewn onto it, also bears the name of Tim Tebow. Because I admired the courage and skill Tim had while playing for the Denver Broncos (and for another undisclosed reason), I purchased it in April of 2014 on eBay. It was a bit cheaper at that time, being he no longer played with the Broncos.

Going back to his Heisman Trophy winning days while a Florida Gator, Tim Tebow exemplified someone I wanted to imitate, in the realm of using what you have been given by your Creator to do. Even though some would say his playing style didn’t fit the traditional drop-back quarterback mold, he was faithful to use the talent, discipline and heart that God had given him. He was the one his teams needed to win the games and a championship.

There is not another Tim Tebow. Our good Lord only created one of him. Our Father put within Tim his unique spirit, soul and body. With that came desire, commitment and connection to the Lord, giving Tim the ability to accomplish his purpose at that moment in his football life. He achieved the goal because of the grace given to him, and his acceptance of that fact, to faithfully use that grace. Thus the college team, and later the big boys’ team, achieved spectacular heights. In that world of sports, as a team they together made it to the top of their game.

Now the percentage of us who have played sports, and then who later filled a role at the professional level, is very, very small. My guess would say that probably 99.99% of you reading this have never qualified for the starting position of a sports team. But being that is beside the point, you and I have been called to a higher calling, to fill a position that no one else but you can fill.

We are each unique. We have each been created in such a way that if we don’t do what we have been called to do, not only will we ourselves be hurting in our spirit, soul and body, but our families, friends, co-workers, and even the people of the world will be missing out.
No one else can be the person you and I have each been called to be. You have to be you. You are the one the good Lord has created to fill a specific plan and purpose in His eternal plan and purpose. Yes, you are the one.

The Lord isn’t expecting you to be another Tim Tebow. There already is one. He isn’t expecting you to be another “high profile” person who gets a lot of news coverage, unless He has intended  that you were created for that purpose. But He is expecting you to use the gifts, talents and every created cell in your being, beginning with the day you were conceived in your mother’s womb, to be what you are to be.

The nations are desperately in need of people who know who they are and are simply, but obediently, walking in His plan, which has been carefully crafted for His creation. These are ones like you and I, who are willing to give themselves in obedience to His calling.

As Christians, seeking and  keeping our eyes on Jesus (Yeshua), who have been chosen along with our friends the Messianic Jews, we will rise up in Messiah’s power and strength, fulfilling our purpose as the Lord’s Body of believers. We will, as One New Man doing our part together as a team,  manifest His glory on the earth. We will be the light to the nations.

And each of you are the one to help do it.

Now think on this,

Michael Sam vs. Tim Tebow: Is It a Double Standard or Just Pure Christian Intolerance? - JENNIFER LECLAIRE

Michael Sam vs. Tim Tebow: Is It a Double Standard or Just Pure Christian Intolerance?

Tim Tebow bowed a knee to Jesus Christ in prayer before every football game and took plenty of flack for his so-called "Tebowing." Indeed, NFL players mocked his ritual—but not one of them that I know of was sent to Christian sensitivity training to learn how not to offend the faith-filled footballer and his many fans.
So why did Miami Dolphins second-year defensive back Don Jones get fined by his team for tweeting “OMG” and “horrible” after the St. Louis Rams drafted Sam? Why did he get excused from the team, despite deleting the comments and now apologizing?
Donald Trump suggested on Fox News there’s a double standard at work.
“We’ve become so politically correct in this country that the country is going to hell,” Trump said. “People are afraid to talk. They’re afraid to express their own thoughts. I’ve heard many people—I’m not even speaking for myself, but I’ve heard many people that thought the display after he was chosen was inappropriate. And whether or not it was, I don’t know. But it was certainly out there a little bit.”
“And I’m very happy that he got chosen,” Trump said. “I’m all for it. I think it’s great that he got chosen. I hope he does so well. But I thought he was really going at it. I haven’t seen anything like that in a while. He was really going at it. Yet when Tebow did his thing, which a lot of people thought was totally fine, he was just criticized so badly. I guess you could say there is a double standard. It’s sad.”
But is double standard the best phrase to describe what’s going on here? Or is it just that there’s more tolerance for homosexuality than Jesus Christ?
I hashed it out with Rock 107’s “Anger Artist” this morning and tossed the audio up on a quick YouTube video. I’ve also written about Michael Sam in the past if you want to check that out for reference. Listen to the short audio and sound off.
