Poll: Most Israeli Jews Think Trump is Helping Israel - Israel Today
Poll: Most Israeli Jews Think Trump is Helping Israel
There has been wild speculation that US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will damage the peace process and ultimately hurt the Jewish state.
It's a scaremongering tactic that has long been used to coerce Israel into abandoning its historical claims and red lines.
But Israelis are no longer buying it.
The monthly Peace Index survey released this week revealed that a firm majority of Israeli Jews believe Trump truly understands Israel's concerns and is helping the Jewish state, despite hysterical reactions to the contrary.
According to the poll, 65 percent of Israeli Jews believe Trump's Jerusalem declaration was in Israel's best interests. Roughly the same percentage of Israeli Arabs said the opposite.
A strong 59 percent majority of Israeli Jews said that in general, Trump understands Israel's interests and is acting to their benefit.

Why Palestinians Prefer Working for Israelis - VIEWPOINT ISRAEL
If Israeli Jews are such blood-thirsty haters of all things Arab, then why do Palestinian Arabs prefer working for them?
Palestinian Authority TV acknowledged as much in recent broadcasts of the program Workers’ Affairs, which were translated by Palestinian Media Watch.
A number of Palestinian laborers were interviewed, and openly stated that both pay and work conditions for Arabs are far better with Israeli employers than with fellow Palestinians.
“The lack of monitoring of [Palestinian] owners of companies and factories and their exploitation of workers is what has forced people to Israel, to work and build in Israel,” said Qassem Abu Hadwan, a laborer from Hebron. “Workers have to go to Israel, because no one [in the PA]gives them what they deserve for their work.”
Indeed, figures released by the Palestinian Authority’s Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that “the average [daily]wage for employees in the West Bank was 94.1 shekels, and 61.9 shekels in the Gaza Strip, while the average for employees in Israel and the settlements was 198.9 shekels.”
Israeli-Arab Attorney Khaled Dukhi of Worker’s Hotline explained that the situation is even worse for female Palestinian workers, who have to pay exorbitant fees to “middlemen.”
“In practice, he [the Palestinian employer] takes 50%, 60%, and even 70% of her salary. The middleman steals two thirds of her salary,” noted Dukhi.
There are currently some 120,000 Palestinian Arabs working legally in Israel and the Jewish settlements, with thousands more seeking work permits or making their way across the Green Line illegally.
It is difficult to imagine how an independent Palestinian state would survive economically when so little of its labor force wants to work there.

Three of the latest Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israeli Jews were carried out by children aged 13, 15 and 16. All three of these children were encouraged to commit heinous crimes by programming on Palestinian Authority TV, as confirmed by the 16-year-old killer of Dafna Meir, a Jewish mother of six.
Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (pictured) said Western governments are ultimately responsible for this because it is they who bankroll the Palestinian Authority without demanding proper accountability.
Of course, Palestinian parents also have a role to play.
The father of the aforementioned 16-year-old killer told Israeli media that he opposed the attack, but when speaking before Palestinian cameras he praised the actions of his son.
The father of a 13-year-old Palestinian girl, Rakia Abu Ayid, who was shot and killed while trying to stab Israelis, likewise said he was proud of what his child had done. “Praise be to Allah. This was done in service to Al Aqsa Mosque and Palestine,” the father told Palestinian TV. “She will now meet her siblings in paradise and Allah will have mercy!”
A similar account was given by the parents of a 15-year-old Palestinian boy who was shot and killed after stabbing and moderately wounding a pregnant Jewish woman in Judea. The boy’s mother called him a “holy martyr.”
Hotovely told Israel Radio on Monday that Western governments involved in the peace process need to take responsibility for their role in this tragic situation.
“The international community needs to intervene here. It is unreasonable that money given by the West to the Palestinian Authority is used to incite terrorism against Israel,” she said.
Indeed, the West seems almost entirely unconcerned about what has become of the roughly $21.5 billion given to the Palestinians over the past 25 years. “Where’s has all that money gone?” wondered Hotovely.

Israelis react to Obama visit
Israelis react to Obama visit
Friday, March 22, 2013 | Israel Today Staff
US President Barack Obama's visit to Israel has come to an end.
In a whirlwind two-day call, the president shmoozed average Israelis far more aggressively than most expected by repeatedly referencing the Jews' ancient and biblical connection to this land.
He also made an impassioned plea for Israel to resume making the kinds of security compromises that have proved so disastrous over the past 15 years for the sake of acheiving peace and justice for the Palestinians.
And while most Israelis love America and appreciate the gesture, very few outside of media commentators believed the visit would achieve anything concrete.
Israel Today spoke to Israelis on the streets of Jerusalem about Obama's visit, and this is what they had to say:
Ariye Caspi: “I think Obama's pro-peace and wants what's good for all of us."
Aviv Eldad: "It’s good that he came, so he can see the situation here."
Mr. Sharon: "I think he’s visiting and doing nothing else. He doesn’t care."
Dafna Trujaman: "First of all he’s a Democrat, and they are pro-Palestian, and he is a Muslim himself."
Hadas Levmore: "In some aspect he’s pro-Palestinian and in some aspects he’s pro-Israeli."
Debbie: "I don’t know why he came."
Elana Falick: “I’m really excited that he’s here. Most of my friends are not pro-Obama. But I think it will be really good and I think it will solidify the fact that he’s on Israel’s side and that he supports Israel.”
Gabriel Danon: “He didn't accomplish anything more than other visiting presidents in the past.”
Talia Sandman: “He’s not been the most friendly president to Israel.”
Ortal Cohen: "I think it can really help see what the Americans feel about us and how they see us around the world."
Leo: “Obama visiting is nice, but I think it’s for show.”
Michele Benami: "For us, Obama in Israel is a very good thing because we need America and Obama is the president of America."
Iris Marks: "Obama tries to be nice and shoot that smile when he wants to please people, but I don’t think he’s pro anything except himself.”

The number of Israeli Jews passed the emotional 6 million mark in November, and the total population will pass 8 million in February, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The other four percent of the Israeli population includes Christians, other faiths and 319,000 people who call themselves Jewish but are not recognized as such according to Jewish law. Almost all of them are from the former Soviet bloc.
As January 1 approached, the total population was 7,981,000, 1.8 per cent higher than the previous year.
The figures do not temporary residents and foreign workers.
New immigrants account for a smaller increase in the number of Jews, with only 16,500 having come on “aliyah” in 2012.

In God We Trust
In God We Trust
Once, long ago, the people of Israel were admonished not to put their trust in horses or chariots or foreign powers when facing threats to their nation.
“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel...” Isaiah 31:1
It would seem that as the threats to modern Israel increase, the people are heeding that warning, whether consciously or not. A poll commissioned by Israel Today and carried out by survey company Dialogue among a sampling of 501 Israeli Jews aged 18-65 found that a solid majority are looking to God, and God-fearing allies, to bring deliverance.
