Spirit of Grief Rises to Take the Fight Out of God's People - JAMIE MORGAN CHARISMA MAGAZINE

The spirit of grief has infected many believers. Here is what you can do about it.

Join us on our new podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

I received a word from the Lord for the body of Christ:
The enemy has attacked the body of Christ with a spirit of grief. A spirit of grief can gain an inroad, not just after the death of a loved one, but also from:
  • A series of disappointments
  • Your heart broken repeatedly
  • The death of a dream from life taking an unexpected direction
  • A shattered relationship
  • Your heart being battered and bruised from repeated attacks from the enemy
  • Anguish over long-term problems
  • A myriad of other discouraging, devastating and damaging life events
The enemy attacks with a spirit of grief in order to take the fight out of us. If he can steal our joy, he can steal our fight. If this is you, get alone with God today and:
1. Bind the spirit of grief, commanding it to loose its hold from you
2. Ask the Lord to reach His healing hand into your spiritual heart and perform spiritual heart surgery—healing open wounds, smoothing over scar tissue, softening the hardened places of your heart, tearing down walls that you have built to protect yourself from future hurts, extracting any bitterness that is in your heart
3. Ask God to restore the joy of your salvation and give you joy unspeakable!
"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3, MEV).

When You Can't Pray Anymore - LINDA WILSON CHARISMA NEWS

Before you give up thinking that this is not God's will, read this.
Before you give up thinking that this is not God's will, read this. (Charisma archives)

When You Can't Pray Anymore

What is your heart longing for? A godly mate? The return of a prodigal? A satisfying job? You are waiting. You are praying. You are fasting. You are forgiving. You are doing everything you know how to do, yet the longing remains unfulfilled. Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Prov. 13:12, NKJV).
I love this compelling Scripture: "You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing ... And, He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him (Ps. 145:16, 19, NKJV). You can trust the Lord God.
Launch Into the Deep  In Luke 5, we read the story of Simon Peter fishing. He had been up all night fishing and had caught nothing. NOTHING! He, a professional fisherman, had worked all night for nothing. His livelihood was fishing. His friends were into fishing. He lived in a fishing village. If anyone could make a catch, surely it was Peter. But he fished all night in vain.
You can easily relate to Peter. You have been up all night fishing unsuccessfully – the loneliness continues, the rebellious child has not returned home, the bills keep piling higher. ... and, you know how to fish! Your heart feels sick.
Jesus arrives on the scene. He is not known for being a bass pro. He was a carpenter's son from landlocked Nazareth. Jesus did not own a boat. Had He ever cast a net? In this fascinating story, He has the audacity to tell the fisherman two things to do – launch into the deep and let the nets down for a catch (Luke 5:4).
Might He be saying the same to you? Launch into the deep. Let your net down. What is this deep? What is the net you need to lay down? Can you trust Him with these most vulnerable heart longings? These questions demand an answer.
The Mighty Lion of Judah  Some years ago, I had a heavenly encounter in which I saw the Mighty Lion of Judah. He was a magnificent Lion, strong and all-powerful. He was slowly walking around His throne in heaven. In this encounter I knew deep in my being that He was fully aware of all things on earth, both good and bad. Yet, He was unshaken. The Lion of Judah was strong. He was in control. Following this experience I am much better at trusting Him regardless of what things look like in this physical realm. Dan (my husband) and I even had a serious car wreck in which we easily could have been killed. We were totally at peace as the car rolled again and again.
The Lion was there with us, fully in control. He was, He is, and He will be trustworthy. You can trust Him with the deep things – the wounds and disappointments in your past, the fears and uncertainties in your present, the heart desires and hopes for your future. Dare you launch into the deep?
Drop Your Nets – It's Fishing Season  And the nets? The secure nets – the default actions and reactions, the personal traditions and habits, the independent way of thinking – these nets need to be dropped. Letting down our nets releases another wave of insecurity or fear, doesn't it? Sometimes layer after layer of nets must be released until we get to the secure place of, yes, you guessed it – trust.
Peter reminded Jesus that they, the pros, had been fishing unsuccessfully all night long. Then he makes the all-important statement, "... at Your word I will let down the net" (Luke 5:5). And you know how this story ended, they caught a great number of fish, so many that their nets were breaking from the tremendous catch.
Simon Peter heard the clear directive given by Jesus. He immediately responded in spite of his own experience with fishing. He then pulled in a massive, astonishing load of fish. Peter's desire was abundantly fulfilled.
It is fishing season. The Holy Spirit is granting fishing licenses to all. Trust God in the deep. Release your net to Jesus. Listen. Hear. Obey. And, you will be astonished as you realize the desires of your heart.

In Jesus' mighty name I decree:

• You will trust in the Lord, and He will give the desires of your heart (Ps. 37:3-4).
• As a righteous one, you will not lean on your own understanding, trusting God to direct your steps (Prov. 3:5-6).
• You will heed what you hear (Mark 4:24).
• You will hear swiftly (James 1:19).
• You will walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16).

"“Expectations & Hope” - Ahava Love Letter (Steve Martin)

       “Expectations & Hope”

“It all accords with my earnest expectation and hope that I will have nothing to be ashamed of; but rather, now, as always, the Messiah will be honored by my body, whether it is alive or dead. For to me, life is the Messiah…” (Phil. 1:20-21, CJB Complete Jewish Bible)

Dear family of friends,

On the early morning during my time with the Lord, on my 59th birthday Nov. 23, 2013, I was again thinking of the enormous thanksgiving that was welling up in my heart the past few days. It was the same sense I get when the Lord is wanting to use me to express a prophetic word - that moment when my heart beats faster, my stomach starts to whirl, and I know His Holy Spirit, Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew) is moving. Usually I just get a word or two, and know He wants me to step out in faith, trusting He will give me more as I obey His prompting.

It is when He says to my spirit, “Speak, for I am giving you something to say right now.” Or in this case, to write now.

This time He again just gave me two words - expectations and hope. And so I started to write this Ahava Love Letter, believing more would come as I wrote.

Expectations can really give us hope, for something exciting to happen, or believing a turn is coming in the road ahead that will bring a better situation in our life. Expectations can last a day, or even a lifetime. They can give us something good to look forward to, as we walk through the daily life we have.

Or they can result in a crash when the event or desire we are seeking to bring fulfillment doesn’t come about as we had hoped. That particular thing we were looking to falls below our anticipated expectation, and disappointment results. By God’s grace we can get over it quickly and move on. Other times it will cripple us and wound our spirit more than we even realize, even for the long term.

You and I both know that there have been many times when we were expecting someone to do something on our behalf, or a big event was to occur, but the end result was far short of what we had thought it would be. We had “high hopes”, but then felt the sting of another “it happened again as I really thought it would” which we had secretly considered.

I can look back at previous expectations and hopes, and believe I have learned a thing or two to share with you. When I stop and think about what my hope and expectation was founded on, there is indeed a lesson taught. I realized that when my hope was on something temporary, or in someone who really didn’t have the capacity to fulfill it, the glitter and glory was just a shadow. We experienced the failure, because the capacity to fulfill the hope wasn’t there to begin with. When that which we hope in is less then what it could be, then disappointment always happens.

By this time you may know where I am going with this.

It is great to dream, to expect, to hope for a better future. We are meant to be that type of people, who look forward to a better tomorrow. That is something the Lord puts in our hearts, to help in our motivations, to keep us pushing forward, to reach the mark set before us by our Father.

I have come to the point now that I regularly declare, “My times are in Your hands.” (Psalm 31:15) Putting my trust in His purposes and plans has given me a strong foundation on which to place my expectations and hopes. He is strong. He is able. He is the One who will never fail us or lack in His ability to fulfill His promises. Because He is God, and because only He can.

Days are ahead, and actually here now, when our need to depend on Him for all things will greatly be tested. If our hopes and expectations are put on that which can and will crumble, our faith will fail us and we will lose our way. IF we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus (Yeshua), the Author and Finisher of our faith, we will be able to stand, have our hopes fulfilled, and see desired expectations completed.

My trust is in Him. I hope yours is today also, and grows stronger in each forth coming day.

Ahava to my family of friends,

Steve Martin

Ahava Love Letter - "Hope. Gotta Have It." (Steve Martin)

        “Hope. Gotta Have It.”

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” Prov. 13:12 (Complete Jewish Bible CJB)

“Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around. (The Message)

Dear family of friends,

The conference audience perked up and started to carefully listen with attentive ears. The speaker was talking about hope, and I could tell people wanted it. We like to hear about hope. It does something to our soul, especially when it appears that there is not much of it surrounding us.

He went on to say how he spent the past election reading about American prisoners, held during the Vietnam War. Many survived. Many did not. Those who held onto the idea that they were getting out by the next holiday, or by the end of the year, or the next special event that came and then went, didn’t make it. With their hope based on a specific time, which then ended with a disappointing result, they gave up. They perished.

The ones who had the longer perspective, who held onto something more substantial and eternal, saw the release finish line. Their hope was not based on an event. It was founded on the belief that no matter what, they were someday getting out - to once again be home with their family.

Scripture says that “hope deferred makes the heart sick.” You have known it. I have known it. We are waiting and wanting for that “something” or “someone” to come along and rescue us. To deliver us. Just to change our current life situation, and take us to the grass on the other side, or be the hot air balloon that will fly us home from Oz.

Many times when I put my expectancy in a temporal being – be it an event or a person, and it doesn’t meet my expectations, I feel the loss in my soul. It is like a piece of me is left on the pathway, and it will take a little more next time to hope for something more.

When I put my trust and hope in the One I have come to know, Who can and will meet the desires of my heart, I am not disappointed. For He is Faithful and True. What He says He will do. He just does. I can count on Him.

Today I again ask Him to keep my heart resting in His goodness and His eternal purposes, so that any disappointments, which are yet to come while in this temporal world we live in, may be overcome with certain hope. I am committed to keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus (Yeshua), the Author and Finisher of my faith.

He is our Solid Foundation. He is our Eternal Hope. May you too know that certainty in your daily walk.

Ahava to my family of friends,

Steve Martin
