Getting Things Done With the Holy Spirit - Dr. Steve Greene CHARISMA NEWS

Getting Things Done With the Holy Spirit

The key to effective organization is a good filing system.
A cottage industry was launched with the publication of David Allen's book, Getting Things Done. Allen's system is rich with ideas and tools for stress-free productivity. The system offers specific advice managing inboxes, to-do lists, projects, filing and calendar management.
The industry is commonly referred to as GTD. Google "GTD" and a list of how-to articles and a sea of apps will quickly appear on your monitor. Many people claim that GTD is cumbersome and difficult. The book was first published in 2002 and birthed as many loyalists as detractors.
According to Allen, "GTD is about creating mental space. You can't manage time. Time just is."
While I'm not a fan of the GTD system as a whole, I profited from learning about his filing system. Paper tends to clutter around me. I don't like to throw things away. I'm nervous I will need everything, every day.
The key to a good filing system is not getting stuff off the desk. It's all about quick retrieval. I once felt if I filed a document, I would never see it again. That feeling created piles of paper throughout my office. (I still fight my tendency to NOT file.)
But I have learned the value of fast retrieval.
When I need a document, I want it now. If I could regain the years I've wasted in "looking for stuff," I would live a full century.
Quick retrieval is a life skill. I believe it is a spiritual gift as well.
Every day we must retrieve priorities, intentions, prayer time, book pages and notes about what I need to retrieve.
I've been amazed and thankful of how the Holy Spirit reminds me of the Word which is hidden in my heart. When teaching, coaching or leading, I'm thankful for the Word that comes to me. I tend to speak from my own "Compiled Version" of the Bible as I have learned verses from many different translations. I'm not always sure which version the Holy Spirit is reminding me to use. But, it is useful in helping me to remember the approximate decade I learned the verses.
Lately, I've been more aware of my need to retrieve notes and ideas given to me by the Holy Spirit. I know when the Holy Spirit is leading me. I know His voice. And, I want to capture the takeaways. I want to keep His voice ringing in my ears. Lead me, Holy Spirit.
Slow me down.
Help me to set aside tech distractions.
Teach me to free my mind to "think on these things."
Guide me to quickly retrieve that which is of You.
"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you" (John 14:26).

Major Reforming Happening by Doug Addison

Major Reforming Happening

by Doug Addison

Identity Network

If you are reading this then congratulations, you have made it through some very uncertain times. The good news is that things are going to start getting progressively better after this month.

This is from my prophetic word for 2015 that I released last January: There will be another major spiritual shift in June (the first one was in May of this year) and "June gloom" will lift and the fog of forgetfulness will be removed. God will begin to bring to your memory promises you have forgotten. This will set the pace for the rest of the year. Watch for things to "fall into place" in the fall.

Take Cover

When I say, "Take cover," most people think of something negative coming. But God is saying that if you stay under His covering things will work out great. Don't be distracted by things that are in disarray right now. Things are going to smooth out in July.

Psalm 91:1-4 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

The enemy wants you to think that you missed something or messed up.

Take cover in God and you will not have to worry.

Major Reformation

Watch for big things from small beginnings. If you have ever heard God say to you, "Don't despise humble beginnings," understand that God is gathering small groups together to do something great. It is important to be aligned in the right place, at the right time and with the right people for the second half of the year.

We will see a shift come as we get aligned with God's purposes for our lives. There is a major reformation at hand!

• Repositioning
• Regrouping
• Reshaping
• REFORMING

2:22

I keep seeing 2:22 on the clock. God spoke to me about this through Daniel 2:22:

Daniel 2:19-22 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.

Watch for These Things Starting in June:

God is speaking through dreams and visions. The season is changing. Expect to see changes coming as God raises up new leaders for this next movement coming. God is revealing deep mysteries that have not been revealed. Expect to have hidden things revealed and a strategy on how to respond.

How to Move in what God is Doing Right Now

Develop this foundation:
  • Agree that all things are possible for those who believe.
  • "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 NKJV " … but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 NIV
  • Understand that God is not angry and is not out to harm you.
  • God is the giver of good gifts.
  • God is a loving Father who wants to give us good things.
  • God is for you and not against you or mad at you.
  • God is not causing the bad things that we see happening in the world.
  • God wants to give us the desires of our heart and wants to do this as our heart becomes more like His. Psalm 37:4
  • God wants to give you hope, a future, and not harm you. He longs to see you prosper and succeed. Jeremiah 29:11
  • You are truly a new creation in Christ, and old things no longer have power over you unless you allow them to.
Log jams

God showed me that many people are suffering from cloudy vision and confusion because of a critical spirit. When we judge others we can block blessings from flowing to us. Consider these verses that have to do with giving …

Luke 6:37-38 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

People are suffering from spiritual log jams. For the most part it is from holding judgments against others.

Matthew 7:3-4 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?"

Overall it is a time of major transition. Things are going to start to flow more freely. God is going to reveal a strategy that you need to flow in His will and timing for the remainder of the year.

Can you sense the transition? Ask God if you have any areas of blindness due to a "log of judgment" in your eye. God is gracious and is preparing you for increase! Remember to rise above your current circumstance and don't let anything stop you!

Blessings,

Doug Addison

Why a Mother’s Prayer Can Change Everything by RUTH L. WHITFIELD

prayer

A mother's prayer is powerful. (Lightstock)

Why a Mother’s Prayer Can Change Everything

I remember seeing my mother kneeling at the side of her bed and praying aloud for each of her children and grandchildren. That memory is forever etched in my mind, and I will never forget sensing a strong presence of God through her intercession. I came away with a sense of reverential fear and trust that no matter what would happen to any of us, God would honor her prayers on our behalf.
My mother is in heaven now, yet it’s a comfort to know that the Lord continues to honor those prayers. It encourages me to continue to pray for my own children and grandchildren no matter how uncertain their futures or what they are currently facing.
I am sure that there are bittersweet moments for each of us whose parents have gone on to be with the Lord. We remember them. We miss them. We now realize how wise they really were. Our hope in the Lord is that we will see them again and enjoy His presence together.
Except for Eve, the mother of all living, we’ve all been blessed with mothers. Our mothers helped shape who we are today—for good or not so good. We learned from their example and from their mistakes. And when we had children of our own we realized what a challenge they faced raising us.
Some of us are privileged to have our moms around to help us with our own children. They bring the wisdom of experience and offer their time, love and energy to the task. What a blessing to have a doting grandma to pour unconditional love on our offspring!
But even with all that, the Holy Spirit is our best adviser, teacher and counselor. He knows what’s best for each child and can give us the insight to know what each needs and how to pray His will concerning each one. God hears a mother’s prayer.
I am thankful for His instruction and “coaching” as I grappled through years of raising an autistic son in a ministerial fish bowl filled with well-meaning parishioners giving “expert” advice concerning things they knew nothing about. Without the Lord, we would not have made it. Time and time again, He would admonish me to trust Him with our son.
That was not an easy task. We would place him on the altar, so to speak, and then quickly take him off, load ourselves with worry, then place him on the altar again. Then we’d call on the Lord for help and take one day at a time doing as He directed. The result was miraculous! Today, he’s a grown man who loves and serves the Lord, can earn a living and is active in the men’s group at church. Surely, God is worthy of our trust.
Surely, He knows what’s best for us and for our children. He is totally trustworthy.
Sometimes we worry when we don’t see our children going in the direction we feel would be best for them. Yet we have His promise that if we raise them and train them in the way they should go, when they are old they will not depart from them (see Prov. 22:6). Though they may stray as they try to find their own way in life, they will return to what was instilled in them (see 2 Tim. 3:15). It’s a promise.
Perhaps you are a single parent wrestling with raising your children and working full time. You feel exhausted and overwhelmed. You wonder how you are going to make it through another day. Take heart. You are not alone. The Holy Spirit will provide and direct you each step of the way. Our Father hears a mother’s prayer. Trust Him.
If God has blessed you with a special-needs child, know that He has given you a treasure. It may not feel that way sometimes. You may feel as if you are the only one carrying the responsibility relating to your child, your spouse, your other children and the household. And if you also work outside the home it’s a balancing act like no other. But His grace will enable you to do all He requires of you. You will learn the meaning of unconditional love and enjoy deep fellowship with Him. His love and grace is available—and it’s free.
Perhaps your children are grown and your mom is in her golden years and needing care. The tables have turned—you are now the caregiver and she is the one needing your help. It’s difficult for her to transition from total independence to needing care and provision. Do you struggle with the demands of your own family and her needs? Well, you are not alone. Honoring your mom in this season takes as much grace as handling a household of kids, a special-needs child, a full-time job and a cranky husband. But God is able to sustain you and go even beyond your need. He is there to give you His sufficiency, rest and restoration as you take time to get alone with Him.
No matter what season of life you are walking through, the Lord is there for you.  Whether you see yourself as a daughter honoring her mother, a mother enjoying her children or one who is pulled in many directions at once, our God is more than able to provide you with everything you need to make this the most wonderful season of your life. Remember that God answers a mother’s prayer. Happy Mother’s Day!
PRAYER POWER
This week surrender yourself and your children to the Lord and thank Him that He is ever present in every season of your life. Ask Him for the wisdom that is readily available and that He alone can give. Thank Him for the expected outcome, plans and purposes He has for you and your family. Pray for those who have sons, daughters and loved ones in the military. Ask the Lord to strengthen their faith and bring them comfort during this season of separation. Pray for protection over their sons and daughters as well as our own nation and its leaders. Prov. 22:6; James 1:6
