"Be not unaware, friend." New message from Steve Martin, Love For His People

1-Newsmallerwithshadow-png.png

Sept. 10, 2025

Greetings to you once again.

Trials come. Along with it battles that try to keep us from moving forward, or throw us off balance.

Last week Laurie broke her ankle. The second time in a two months the enemy has come at her, as we prepare for our three month volunteer work in Israel.

But we go on! Read my new message below, "Be Not Unware".

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15, NASB

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Love For His People Ministry

P.S. Our next trip to Israel for Laurie and I is Oct. 15, 2025-Jan. 12, 2026. Please be praying for us.

Israel Photo of the Week: Shabbat night at the home of Larry and Bess Herzekow in Har Adar, Israel, just west of Jerusalem. Laurie and I will be spending time with them again!

Be Not Unaware

“For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction which occurred in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.” 2 Corinthians 1:8, NASB

Battles come. Be prepared. Prayed up. Read up. Connected.

The believer’s walk is not easy. Whoever sang the song, “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden” sometime back may have been reading what Paul went through in his trials. Or what we go through as we seek to walk in the calling the Lord has given us.

In this life we have trials. Promised in the Bible. And yet the best is coming. Eternal life. But as we look to heaven, and the reward that awaits us, we must continue to walk on earth in faith, in assurance of His leading us.

God’s Word says that first the natural comes, and then the spiritual. “However, the spiritual is not first, but the naturalthethe spiritual.” 1 Cor. 15:46, NASB

Watch Israel and the Jewish people and you will know what I am talking about.

I often wondered about the verse that speaks about “abundant life” found in John 10:10. “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have lifelife in its fullest measure.” (Complete Jewish Bible)

At times here on earth I don’t find it so abundantly. In fact, there are days I long to be where He is, seated in heavenly places and already there. Be true – so do you.

But until our appointed mission, the one we have been apprehended for has been completed, the grace, strength, willingness, hopefulness found only in the Lord Jesus, must remain strong. For He alone is the Faithful One, the Giver of Life, the One Who carries us on unto the end.

Be not unaware that our enemy continues to war against us. In many trials, temptations, discouragements, and roadblocks. But in the Lord, we have the victory, and He will see us to the end.

Phil Wickman, contemporary worship leader, sings it well. What An Awesome God!

Believe it and keep walking on. Press forward to the finish line!

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

P.S. Again. Battles come. Be prepared. Prayed up. Read up. Connected up.

"Don't Quit" - message by Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry

Don’t Quit

“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” The Message, Galatians 6:9

Discouragement and the desire to quit rarely occur. Not!

Even the “Pioneers of Faith” wanted to call it quits at times. Ever read about David in the Psalms on the run from Saul? Sure, you have. But we can learn from him. David knew what to do when he got weary, ran out of steam, or got discouraged at the thought of what may lie ahead. And he learned how to persevere, not to quit.

In the spring of 2018 I was in Jerusalem, by myself, seriously believing it was my last time coming to the Land. The ministry of Love for His People seemed to be “petering” out. I wasn’t sure if this was it. In fact, I believed it was. There would be no return, for that which I had lived for in many aspects was ending.

Cathy Hargett, Highway To Zion founder here in Charlotte, North Carolina, had a tour in the Holy City at the same tim. She invited me to their evening meal at Mount Zion Hotel, across the valley from Oskar Schindler’s (1908-1974) gravesite on Mount Zion. I felt like this was ending too, but not in the “glory” Oskar had been shown. (Watch this YouTube: Oskar Schindler)

I spoke to Cathy. “This is it for me. This is my last trip to Israel.” I really believed it.

When I left the dinner, walking back to my lodging, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “This is not your last trip. In fact, you will be coming two times a year.”

“What??!!” The usual, skeptical response many of us have when the Lord tells us something. We need to be more like Mary when she was spoken to.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, the Lord’s bond-servant; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:37-38, NASB

The Lord has more faith than we do. In fact, He is the author of faith, for He Himself is Faithful and True.

As we give ourselves to His plans and purposes, we will find grace to keep going, to never quit, to finish the work He has set before us.

Carry on in love, faith, and with much hope. This is no time to quit.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Valued in His Eyes - Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry message. Plus two worship videos.

Valued in His Eyes

“As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and You place me in Your presence forever.” Psalm 41:12, NASB

It used to be that a penny was worth something. In fact, I remember when, as a little kid, even as old as 10, my dad would bend down to pick up a penny.

“To some people, this isn’t worth the effort. But to me it is”, he would say. He knew what it was like to be poor, and made sure his family never did. Mom said he would tell her, “I work two jobs, 60 hours a week, so my family and I will never be poor again.” He died before he reached 70.

As of 2025, each penny costs $.03 to make. So, the government is planning on doing away with it. I guess it is a good thing, then, that I took my pennies to the coin machine at Food Lion to cash them in last week. No one will pick them up off the street again. There will not be any.

Being thankful that the Lord continually shows His love and how He values us is so important to our self-esteem. Without His ongoing affirmation, approval, and encouragement towards us, the lies of the world would beat us down to the point that we give up, turn back, or simply quit.

We are valued in His eyes. He created us. He wants us to be with Him, in His family, now and forever more.

He proved it then, and He proves it now as we spend time with Him.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20, NASB

We are worth more than a penny. We are worth the life the Lord Yeshua (Jesus) freely gives us as we abide with Him in our daily walk.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Carry My Bags - Steve Martin message at Antioch Intl. Church Men’s Breakfast, Fort Mill, SC (2 short videos)

Steve Martin - Video Part 1

Carry My Bags - Steve Martin message

at Antioch International Church Men’s Breakfast, Fort Mill, SC (2 short videos)

July 12, 2025

These two video segments (they total just 8 minutes of the full 31-minute talk due to “technical difficulties”) are a part of my life in how the Lord led me to “carry His bags” and stand strong with Israel. (Part 2 is also 4:12 min.)

Side note: I was later told that the full message was recorded, and I hope to get that up on this site real soon.

The Lord will lead us down a path we may not want to go on, but if we hear and obey...He will never lead us astray! Videos recorded by Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry, in Charlotte, North Carolina. We stand firm for Israel and His people the Jews.

Steve Martin - Part 2 video of my message is below this brief explanation.

The part “missing” in the message not recorded was how I had asked Mahesh Chavda, whom I had served with at that point for 13.5 years, if I could go with him on an international trip, and he answered, “What would you do? Carry my bags?”

The Lord told me then to go to Jerusalem and meet Him at the Western Wall. I went with Martin Berger, the Chavda England director, and we went to Jerusalem. I walked to the Wall from the Mount Zion Hotel, and when I stood at the Wall, I placed both hands on it.

The Holy Spirit came down like a waterfall, gushing down on me. I wept just as much. The Lord then said, “Your labor has not been in vain.” I then knew I was leaving All Nations Church and Mahesh Chavda Ministries.

Within 6 months, I had given my notice and left, having my job back at Derek Prince Ministries for 5 more years.

In 2003, Laurie and I participated in a DPM China outreach, distributing Derek’s Mandarin-Chinese translated books and Bibles throughout the Chinese mainland, concealed in our “tourists’ bags”. At stops along the 17-hour train ride, the books were passed on to underground Chinese Christians.

Upon reaching Beijing, we had a scheduled “tourist trip” to the Great Wall. It was at that point, on the bus, when Laurie leaned over to me and said, “The Holy Spirit spoke to me, and He said, “You can carry His bags.”

I knew exactly what He meant!

In 2004, following the successful DPM completed conference, which featured Barry & Batya Segal of Vision For Israel, Barry approached DPM’s International Executive Director, David Selby, to request that I join the staff as his USA Director.

In the first year of the next 5 years, I relocated the ministry office of Vision For Israel from Savannah to Charlotte, before leaving in 2010 to found Love For His People.

"Live Generously - But how?" - Steve Martin latest message

1-Newsmallerwithshadow-png.png

July 9, 2025

Greetings to you once again.

Is it true - 'give and you shall receive'?

When I was 18, a long time ago, I worked the night shift stocking grocery shelves in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Being raised a Roman Catholic, my concept of the Bible was limited to hearing the priest read from it a few sentences at a time during Mass.

Working with me at the store was a young Baptist kid. He would talk to me at breaks, and being curious, I would listen also out of respect. When he spoke about tithing, I had no idea what that was. Catholics, mostly, at least in my young days, threw in a few dollars as the usher passed the long-handled basket down each row.

My message today isn’t about tithing, though; since I was 18, I have tithed.

A life of generosity goes way beyond your finances. It is having a heart as our Father does. To walk in His love, which He calls us to do, we must practice being generous.

Please read below to find out what will help you in your walk as well. And…I can testify, based on my financial well-being and the life I've lived, that being generous has proven that the Lord is absolutely right.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

 Live Generously

-         But how?

A generous person will be prosperous, and one who gives others plenty of water will himself be given plenty.” Proverbs 11:25, NASB

Learning to give…in prayer, encouraging others, our funds, and our time…does not happen overnight. In fact, for my life, it has been a process made possible by the Lord’s grace and encouragement. You can learn even more as you walk in His daily light and Word.

I want to share four examples with you to help you become more generous. I purposely kept them short to keep your attention.

1.     Prayer. For Christians, once you have experienced the Savior of your soul, prayer comes naturally. Say a quick word, and then watch the Lord respond. As a young toddler in your faith, He shows Himself strong on your behalf. But He expects you to grow up. To be consistent. To show His love to others by saying you will pray for them when asked (and when not) and actually do it.

Celebration of Disciplines is a book I read decades ago, and it instilled in me the correct view of practicing what we talk about. I encourage you to take a look.

Using a Proclamation Card, printed by Derek Prince Ministries, enables me to pray faithfully for Israel every day. If you'd like one, visit their website (highlighted, $0.05-$0.25 each) or write to me, and I'll send you one free of charge. It is the size of a bookmark and fits easily in my Complete Jewish Bible (or whatever version you use).

2. Encouraging others can be as simple as texting someone to say hello or being part of a WhatsApp, Signal, or even a Facebook group to share concerns and events that bring others joy and uplift. Phone calls? Not so much, unless you are older than 50. My adult kids won’t respond much to a call, but they'll respond to a text. Back at you real quick, generally!

3.     Funds – giving of what you have from what the Lord has given you to bless others with. I once heard a message from a man who gave thousands, nearly 90% of his business income, to ministries. And the Lord continually increased his business. At the time, I thought, “That will never happen to me. I can barely give 10% (tithe), especially with a wife and four kids still in the house.”

As the years went by, and the Lord helped me discipline my spending (by reducing waste and entertainment on ourselves), He enabled us to give more. My heart of giving grew, and I sought ways “to save” so I could have more “to give”. And trust me, it works.

4. Time – we have all been given 24 hours in a day. What do you do with it? Work, sleep, eat, entertain yourself, and such. Just a quick word about our time. We will each give an account of what we do with it. May your works burn up in the end, or may you be given crowns for how you blessed others with the time you were given—our choice.

I have come to believe this Scripture, believing the Lord to expand the truth in my heart.

Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” Luke 6:28, NASB

Living a life of generosity takes time. It is worth all the effort you put forth to do just that.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Jerusalem street music!

Music videoJerusalem, Israel - night street music with the violinist at the corner of Jaffa and Ben Yehuda in Zion Square. (Recorded by Steve Martin, Jerusalem 2019)

My goof friend in Israel, Avraham Saidian, an Iranian Jew, shares his story.

Above video: My good friend Avraham Saidian is from Jerusalem. He is a two-shop owner on Ben Yehuda St., along with his two sons, David and Dan, and his daughter, Dahlia. We have been friends now for over 20 years (As of May 2025).

The year I first met him, he asked for help with a phone call to St. John's Island, South Carolina. With the success of that call, he was so blessed that he had me come with him to his house in northern Jerusalem for a Shabbat meal.

I then stayed overnight at his insistence, went to shul (synagogue), visited his son's house, and then slept on the couch. In the morning, he had an Arab taxi driver (being Shabbat) take me back to my hotel, the Jerusalem Gold, where the Christian Friends of Israel USA tour group, directed by Hannele Pardain, which I was a part of, was staying.

This video was recorded on Oct. 17, 2018, in Avraham's shop at 15 Ben Yehuda Street, Jerusalem.

As in many of Steve's previous books, he continues to share experiences and inspiration in being faithful in the Christian walk - hearing the voice of the Lord, knowing His written Word, adhering to the teachings of those who have gone before - in order to stand strong in the midst of societal changes with the truth of the Lord Jesus, Yeshua.

As you read these chapters, may the Lord's encouragement through His Holy Spirit strengthen your inner being to walk out the calling He has on your life, among your family, and others surrounding you.

Being faithful to the end is possible only because of His grace and mercy working through us daily.
