The Time of Preparation Has Been Completed. It Is Time To Go.
"And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. "It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, TO TURN THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS BACK TO THE CHILDREN, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." Luke 1:16-17, NASU
Have you ever really stopped to think about how long it takes to prepare a meal, only to have it consumed in minutes? For example, I know someone very close to me who takes hours to prepare a delicious offering for family and guests, and then when it is all made and set before all, it can be devoured in less than half an hour. Sometimes even less.
Over 14 years ago, a man of God, a genuine prophet of the Lord who was remarkably accurate in his prophetic words to individuals, named Robbie Phillips of Lexington, South Carolina, spoke a word over me in a home group setting here in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have kept that transcribed word in my 3-ring binders, among the many other spoken words I have received over the last three decades of receiving personal prophecy. I now also say that Robbie passed onto glory on Oct. 7, 2017, just 10 days before his 71st birthday.
On that specific night, he said these while ministering to me, “I see you as a rocket ship having been launched. First, there is the one stage let loosed after the launch, and then the second, followed by a third, finally boosting you into orbit. Once that final stage has been completed, you are released. And then the short work you have been preparing for will start.”
For a while I was troubled by that word, as I thought to myself, “You mean, Mr. Robbie, that it would take all this time to prepare that rocket ship and the capsule attached at the top, to only then be put into orbit and once launched, it would just be used a short time?”
I am still waiting on the Lord for that fulfillment, but I truly see it coming. In fact, it may already have.
As I approach my 68th birthday near Thanksgiving in 2022, I more and more see it coming. The word is becoming flesh and is dwelling among us. We are to be like Him.
Jesus said we would be like Him. He came to earth 33 years. It took 30 years of preparation before His Father released Him into that which He had been sent to do.
How amazed we are at the length of time the Lord takes to prepare us for that which He has apprehended us for.
“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13, KJV
We have become so accustomed to having things this minute, this hour, this day, or this week. If something takes more than a year to be prepared, we think, “Man, why is this taking so long.”
Have you ever considered how long it took the Lord to prepare the Grand Canyon? Have you ever been in awe of Pike’s Peak in Colorado or the Grand Teton Mountains in Wyoming? There is a small photo of the Grand Canyon I have had for many, many years, since 1977. The caption on it says, “God’s work takes time.”
A painting we have had hanging in our guest bathroom is of two bluebirds. In beautiful, scrolled writing it reads, “It takes time to make old friends.” What a picture of the Lord’s love and patience. Just like the Grand Canyon.
A young boy or girl (having been given their gender specifically by the Lord Himself) at the age of 7 or 8 is wondering what they will be like when they are all grown up. I remember thinking about how many kids I would have, and what they would look like. (Now I know. Beautiful and handsome!)
Kids do not know it will be decades to see more fully what the Lord has planned and purposed for them. But it will take decades. And it will come. (I have meant some grown-ups who are still wondering what they will be when they are grown up!)
Each of us has been born, for some that were many, many years ago, for the exact plan the Lord had in mind for us even before we were born.
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I separated you for myself. I have appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5, Complete Jewish Bible
It was true for the prophet Jeremiah. It is true for us.
The preparation time is lengthy. But there is a finish line, an ending point when the preparation is complete. The cake is cooked. The turkey is done. The fine wine is ready to be served.
You are that one. As for me, and the rocket being launched, you too have come to the point in your life when it is “time to go.”
Go do that for which you have been prepared to do. It is time.
