Faith, the Creative and Risk - Morris Ruddick

 Faith, the Creative and Risk

Morris Ruddick Oct. 14, 2025

Within the ranks of those deemed Kingdom leaders is the allure that results in “more of the same, harder.” Simultaneously, one of the most potent, potentially untapped areas bearing on the efforts of those embracing Joseph-calling and Kingdom entrepreneurship mantles is that of the creative.

On the one hand, especially during times of change, we reach for the stable, the foundational. Indeed, it is as the Psalmist (Ps 11) cried out, “Lord, if the foundations are destroyed, then WHAT can the righteous do?”

However, the dilemma and the context carry a challenge, even when knowing what to do.
“In the LORD I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?  For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. Ps  11:1-2

Facing the dilemmas of toxic atmospheres while reaching beyond the contextual challenges of the season requires mindsets and strategies that restore the dynamics incorporated in God’s infrastructure and the ancient operating model of being a society of leaders. The design serves in tipping the scales when operating as a culture within a culture. The key elements combine the dynamics of the spiritual, economic and community.

In unwrapping the dynamic and distinction of the economic, of Kingdom entrepreneurship; it is first a mind-set, a way of thinking before it can become a meaningful, actionable strategy to steward. At its core, this way of thinking comprises a consistently fine balance that must be evident between faith and risk.

Thinking that Builds and Restores
Entrepreneurial thinking at the most foundational level consists of the ability to create, innovate, to build and bring increase. Indeed, Isaiah prophetically saw this unique mode of thinking emerge in the eternal dynamic God had implanted in His people.
“They shall rebuild the old ruins, raise up the former desolations,  repair the ruined cities; the desolations of many generations. “ Isa 61: 4

As we face the challenges of the season, these are the factors representing both the strategy and impact that can be expected as the focus and anointing from on-High: that of creating, building, employing innovation ….of bringing increase.

When aligned with the anointing and God’s timing, these dimensions will far exceed the ordinary, although there is merit to the worldly accomplishments that in itself follow a creative path. Yet, there is a higher standard and expectation of impact when employing faith with the creative. It is how the Kingdom is being restored. Employing these dimensions triggers the distinctive that defines the difference of when the apostolic is operating.

Aligning with Times of God’s Favor
Following this theme gleaned by Isaiah, the expectation unveils a time when God arises with His glory overshadowing and restoring the brokenness of the foundations described by the Psalmist’s plight; with a release of a higher level of the Creative.
“In the time of my favor I will answer you, in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be as a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be set free!’ Isaiah 49:8-9

Prioritizing engaging with the Unseen One underscores the amazing sequence of strategies employed by Joseph in conjunction with his alliance with Pharaoh, in preparing for and then navigating the sequential challenges of the famine. Daniel’s authority and influence in resetting the infrastructures within the shifting seats of power of Babylon are no less dramatic.

Yet, there is a falling short when God’s anointed entrepreneurs are satisfied to embrace the world’s exploits as the standard.

In previous writings, I’ve alluded to the wisdom gleaned by John Skully during his tenure as CEO of Apple. John Skully was the mastermind of the Pepsi Challenge, a brilliant cola taste-test in the 80s that captured significant market share from their chief competitor, Coca Cola. It was that type of thinking that caused the board of Apple to hire him as CEO to bring some order to the disarray and losses being experienced by the free-wheeling, albeit very creative Steve Jobs.

The initial culture clash by Skully’s Pepsi corporate forte created a disaster at Apple. Yet Skully was a listener and observer ….and gleaned the potential in harnessing this creative disarray that Steve Jobs had left him to manage.

The Birthing of Culture-Creativity
More of the same harder has its place in the maintenance of growth. But more is required when culture-level birthing is on the horizon. Something unusual was in the wind in the transfer of authority from Moses to Joshua. The “something more” required serious consecration on the part of the community, before the “unprecedented, unusual” took place when Joshua commanded the sun and the moon to hold their place in the heavens, to enable the victory of God’s people over the forces of darkness they were facing.

Paying the cost of community-consecration in reaching beyond the world’s standard for the season now emerging represents the potential parallel of a culture-clash as God’s Creative carries the authority and dimensions that tap that of the sun and the moon yielding to Joshua’s command.

Yet, at the crux of the dynamic that manifests from preparing to “reach beyond” the norm of natural capabilities is in tapping this dimension of the Creative.

In doing so, it enters a crucible between faith and the boundaries represented by risk. Faith steps outside normal comfort zones, often ignoring the status quo as it gains entrance into the unseen realm. The pathway into and within this realm draws deeply from the ancient model outlined by the Jewish roots to the faith.

The imagination represents the gateway and the soil to be tilled, as the birthing canal that connects and activates the natural mind and the spirit of an individual. It is where the spirit realm is discerned. It is where faith must take its greatest leap of risk ….and take root. Harnessing the imagination in Spirit and Truth enables faith to have its full impact.

This manifestation is exponentially multiplied when operating, as it should, in interacting with other believers, on a community- and cultural-level. It’s more still, than the best the world’s standard can hope to muster.

An Example of Tapping the Ancient Model
The advancement of the ancient model that combines the spiritual, entrepreneurial and community has been evidenced in more subtle ways what has been observed as the “startup nation” dynamic in Israel since the 90s.

In an examination of this phenomenon in Startup Nation, authors Singer and Senor unveil cultural factors in Israel’s adversity-driven society, which tend to flatten hierarchy and elevate informality– all backed up by government support of innovation rather than bureaucratic regulation.

They point to the life-long overshadowing IDF network which bleeds into the realm of business-support. They rightly highlight the IDF leadership cauldron where the ratio of junior officers to senior is 1-9 compared to 1-5 in US Army, a reality that tends to groom serious decision-making.

Trust Societies, Adversity and Creative Building
But there is more. Respected social economist Francis Fukiyama’s analysis highlights TRUST societies as being an entrepreneurial societal wealth creator. Strangely Israel, one of the higher-level trust societies was not a part of his analysis.

Underlying these significant drivers is the adversity-reality, the Golda Meier “secret to Israeli success” of having no other options but to survive; being the shared response to anti-Semitism, to the internal terrorism and Intifadas that have fomented traits of resiliency and chutzpah ….that bear on this factor of the faith-risk equation.

Yet, there is still more. It involves the untold story that goes back to the 90s when a very successful and recently retired 60 year old Israeli-Russian woman, Rina Pridor, had sold her business network and was looking for her next challenge. The result was the birth of Israel’s Technology Incubator program, for which her efforts and investments were significant, but for which she also garnered underlying government support from the Office of the Chief Scientist.

Beyond all THAT is what the world views as “the Jewish thing.” And that is where we begin closing in on this manner of thinking, that begins to tap the Creative in its balance between faith and risk.

It is the underlying dynamic that Stephen Pease has documented in his brilliant “Golden Age of Jewish Achievement” about the disproportionate achievement of this minute ratio of roughly .1 percent of the world’s population and the Nobel prizes and significant contributions of medical and technological inventions just since WWII.

Enhancing Jewish Thinking
Underlying the Jewish thing is this ancient model and the foundation for Jewish community, a factor influencing both spiritual and non-spiritual Jewish thinking. As Paul has written, how much more will result, but Life from the dead, when these people, drawing from this amazing heritage come full circle spiritually as a people. Even the dramatic results documented in Startup Nation and Stephen Pease’ analysis of disproportionate Jewish achievement are but glimmers of the expectations when God’s people and the Creative find their full alignment.

Advancing the Jewish thing draws much from the Jewish foundation-for-community …. known as a minyan.

In Jewish tradition, whenever 10 Jews live within a reasonable distance from one another, they form a regular gathering known as a minyan. This gathering serves two primary purposes: first to pray and seek God together and then to help one another become successful. Minyans multiply as they grow, but then when their numbers reach 100, it is time to form a congregation. Simple, but incredibly profound in its impact.

This is the foundation reflected in Jewish tradition comprising the most basic operation of community. It also represents the means to enhance this Creative-building means of thinking, historically demonstrated so dramatically by the Jewish people.

We use a simple variation of the minyan as our model with small-group prayer-business support gatherings with our God’s economy entrepreneurial program. Even in toxic spiritual environments we have seen new businesses birthed and existing businesses to grow, despite adversity and challenging market conditions in persecuted environs.

The mix of prayer, mentoring and meaningful counsel of like-minded entrepreneurs carries unspeakable value and potential.

In today’s toxic spiritual environments, faith for the supernatural requires risk, and getting outside the boundaries of the status quo, of standardized operating procedures that fit the mold of “more of the same harder.”

While it represents the unknown and higher levels of risk, it is where innovation resides; not to speak of how community is built and grows together, both spiritually and economically.

At the same time, risk is minimized when the anointing is maximized. This is what Paul was explaining to the Corinthians when describing the result when the different gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12) interact and are blended with the unique dimensions of service and activities.

Pivotal to these interactions is the tangible anointing, the tangible Presence shared by those engaging with their gifts in their service and strategic activities. It is the dynamic to manifest and be released in receiving the Creative with interactive impartations in these gatherings.

Mindsets and Strategies of Restoration
As the times become more complicated and intense, there is a call for more. But the “more” must capture the higher dimensions that give birth and restore. And so it behooves those whose identities are in God, who embrace the Kingdom as their prime citizenship to reach higher. To become standard-bearers in restoring not just the values, but the realities commensurate with risks that “reach beyond,” when touching the spiritual realm.

Reaching for the higher dimensions with mindsets and strategies that wisely restore the foundations requires excellence. Yet there is a double-edged blade to excellence. Excellence cannot be allowed to be overshadowed with or impacted by arrogance.

The leadership of the forerunners of intense times must be immersed in serving. The boundaries of serving must be selfless, in humility. So, as the momentum builds with the array of today’s unfolding prophetic dimensions, the chief point of stumbling is not as much that from the dark forces, although their voices and machinations continue to clamor and manifest.

The most serious hurdles and challenges will be tied to accomplished, anointed game-changers employing the age-old approach of “more of the same harder,” what might be deemed the blindness and arrogance of excellence. The force of the Creative needed for this hour cannot begin to be matched by the creative.

Underlying the secret, subtle pathway into this realm is in embracing the full potential of the dynamic of community. Community that builds as it depends on and finds its growth and wisdom by functioning and seeking the Lord together.

As it has been from the beginning, so it is designed to operate even more so during tenuous times. It’s the trigger from what results from the simplicity and humility of the interactive anointing operating when together those known by His Name reach for and seek the Lord …..in ferreting out and bypassing the stumbling points …. to make way for the release of the impossible that resides within the force of the Creative.
“Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will raise up the age-old foundations; and you will be called the repairers of the breach, the restorers of the streets in which to dwell.” Isaiah 58:12

Abiding in His Rest - Morris Ruddick

Abiding in His Rest

Morris Ruddick

Abiding. His rest. Two dimensions; in essence, two vital realities that Scripture admonishes us to enter. Spiritual safe-places. Not only to experience, but to embrace as the mode in our journeys as mature spiritual beings in navigating this world.

Never has there been a time in my adult fifty plus year walk with the Lord that these spiritual safe-places have been more relevant ….and essential to the spiritual equilibrium needed for the pathway forward.

I would add an accompanying dimension to the faith called-for ….to abiding in His rest while managing the way forward in these turbulent times: courage. No more fence-sitting. It’s the identity-thing, requisite to being a believer. It takes courage to be different. Being different is who we are. It takes courage and resolve to transcend the seen, to live in the realm of the unseen, to walk by faith.

For most of the years of my spiritual journey, I’ve aligned myself, prayed for and worked together with segments of the Body within the global spectrum who have been persecuted for their faith. For years I’ve been noting that the culture–war that has defined the challenges shaping their conditions-of-life is one that we, as believers in free societies, need to recognize and be prepared for. For the most part, we’re there.

Our culture has long been in the cross-hairs. The deep penetration of darkness being presented as the norm is shocking. The propaganda repositioning the acceptability in the rise of anti-Semitism and acts of lawlessness is shameful. Norms, values and standards are being defiled and perverted to the extent that our very culture is at risk of being hijacked.

The Contrast
Jesus warned of these developments, in pointing to the turbulence that would erupt in the time leading into the end. He described it as times-of-trouble. Daniel foresaw the stark contrast between these emerging dimensions of reality when “many would be purified and refined, but the wicked would do wickedly and none of the wicked would understand, BUT the wise would understand.” Isaiah similarly discerned this dramatic contrast when deep darkness would seek to cover the peoples, while the Light of the Lord would manifest, arising upon His people.

What this historic and prophetic context unveils is the need for more; a greater demonstration of God’s presence among His people to counter the dark forces infiltrating its ranks. So it has reached the point that the toxic nature of the spiritual atmosphere and its accompanying clamor are triggering the need ….for a LOT more.

That “more” is inherently found in these two dimensions, in these two responses to the realities attempting to overshadow the fading “norms of good” within free cultures: abiding and doing so in His rest.

The challenge parallels the response to ancient trajectories of dark cultures of death, with their ideologies and subtle infiltrations, now so overtly manifesting within the societies of the persecuted; and coming out of the closet in raising its ugly head in free societies.

So, this creeping contrast between cultures is nothing new. It is one that historically, has its roots deep in ancient times; the reality that the Lord long ago cautioned His people to face directly. And an awakening within our society is underway, gaining momentum.

The principles outlined in the Torah represent the guardrails needed for a society of God’s people to live ….and thrive within the confines of His protection and direction. These principles can benefit a genuinely righteous society by the impact it has on communities and cultures of darkness ….with the fear of God. It’s the baseline protection the people of God have resulting from His presence, when ….together ….. they get the identity-thing right, of abiding in His rest.

Again, abiding in His rest pivots on the commitment to the identity-thing. When the conflict and controversy increase, so will the faith needed for the committed to take their stand.

The Impact of Being Forerunners
So it is that the issue points to the leadership required of forerunners, of being change-artists. It involves a cost for those who establish, perhaps more often reestablish the standard. Again, the courage to be different is a requisite; even more so in raising the banner.

Many are called, but few are chosen. There’s a reason Jesus made this observation. Over the course of the history of God’s people, the challenge and chink in the armor for God’s people ….which historically deeply impacted those embracing the New Covenant …..has been in the natural tendency of wanting to be like everyone else.

Which ties back to the foundational identity-thing. Becoming a believer is the result of recognizing and touching a reality. It’s a reality that transcends the natural order of things; a reality where God consistently abides. A reality that is a direct affront to the gatekeepers of darkness. So, being different, being a forerunner in raising the banner represents far, far more than just living by higher moral standards, although it is certainly that.

Believing in God and in these realities of God’s domain and the restoration obtained in the salvation made available by Jesus transforms the one believing. It represents an adjustment of their perception of reality, but with it, the way they think and process the realities around them. It represents a serious adjustment to who they are and their purpose in the overall scheme of things ….and a reset in the trajectory of their lives.

Maintaining this identity, purpose and trajectory is both the result and strategy of abiding in His rest.

The Cost of Serving as a Society of Leaders
What the Lord imparted with His chosen, through Moses’ impartation of the Torah, were the principles needed to become a society of leaders.

To be anchors and purveyors of Life in a world dominated by cults of death. In short, to be blessed, to be a blessing. To be the reflectors of the reset needed for true living. To live in community-relationship in such a way, that the Presence is a conscious manifestation. Being God’s chosen embraces a responsibility for influence ….serving as a Light in the darkness …. within one’s own sphere, yet simultaneously influencing surrounding societies.

THAT represents the interactive foundation for the community dynamic seen in this example of leadership. Jesus explained Kingdom leadership as service. It is an anointing. It reflects the exercise of authority as sheep among wolves ….to be change-artists through serving. To be bearers of His Presence without apology or in being intimidated.

So, abiding in His rest is both the strategy and the goal. It is the same whether the context is a spiritual atmosphere of serious persecution, one of freedom or one in which the conflict is challenging the cultural norms.

The cost begins by maintaining the discipline and the resolution to abide in His rest. There’s more. The impact of the pathway of this journey results in serving as leadership anchors in restoring the balance to the spiritual atmosphere, which both draws from and triggers His Presence, enhancing the enablement of that place of abiding in His rest.

So, both the path to this goal and its execution experiences exponential-increase of spiritual authority through abiding in His Presence, abiding in His rest. It is the trickle-down manifestation of the anointing for leadership. It is the gateway into the narrow path to being entrusted with His power.

The Long-Term Goal of Restoration
What the Lord established through what He outlined on Sinai was the basis for the restoration that began following the time of the Fall in the Garden: a people, albeit the most unlikely according to scripture, who would serve this purpose as a society of leaders.

Interestingly, it was to Jewish believers, forerunners of our faith in the book of Hebrews that the admonishment was written to press into maturity, to get beyond the basics to move the needle of restoration that the great cloud of witnesses from time-eternal are even now witnessing and encouraging ….as it comes into place. Again, it is both the strategy and the goal. It pivots on abiding in His Presence, His rest.

More than any other time I can remember in the days of my own journey, we are in a time when such ripples of influence are making a difference, again pointing to and triggering the encouragement of that great cloud of witnesses. Indeed, it was not for nothing that the writer of Hebrews so strongly advised it being time to push beyond the basics with the spiritual practices associated with the mature. The admonishment is to ACT in creating the ripples that reflect being carriers of His Presence.

Getting beyond the boundaries and acting, will include “why don’t we just pray about it?” and “can I pray for you?” becoming prioritized and the natural inclination when interacting with other believers. Then this simple dynamic will soon shift into becoming the mode of opportunity when sharing with non-believers.

The Impact of Community-Faith and Prayer
The inclination can tend to overlook the impact of the simple things. Gathering and praying with other believers triggers His presence. That should be baseline: praying spontaneously together with and for others.

But the impact of this dynamic extends beyond the ordinary when those prayers are with and for non-believers. It penetrates the spiritual atmosphere, as well as making a difference for the ones being prayed for. When the foundation of prayer gatherings is active within the community, the overflow outside its boundaries will become the most natural ….and mature thing to manifest.

This was the model demonstrated through the consistent practices of Jesus ….as well being  the hungry expectation of non-believers in the book of Acts, when in laying their beds out in the streets, that the authority from the mere shadow of Peter passing by would bring healing.

Going Beyond
It’s in the “going beyond,” arising with the authority to impart the anointing of His Presence that the trigger is actuated most profoundly, as the leadership-extended touches and influences the world. It is not unlike Joseph’s and Daniel’s prophetic impartations, so dramatically influencing Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar

One of the examples we encountered in a land of persecution took place in a remote Russian city, with a young, growing congregation that boldly sought to purchase a palace once occupied by Lenin and his inner circle. Their goal was to turn it into a community center. The Jewish community has long learned the value of community centers.

Their almost brash request created a stir among the authorities, many of whom sought to clamp down on the bold intentions of these fearless believers, until ….an older, wiser and more senior official stepped in with the advice: “Give the Christians whatever they want. They are doing so much good.”

This young, praying congregation was touching the community in ways the government had not been able. They were feeding the poor. They had a drug rehab program that transformed the lives of those who had been vagrants and criminals. They sent their people into the city’s prison, changing the lives of offenders who emerged as productive citizens. Praying together with these people was central to what they ministered.

Amazingly, the request to purchase the palace was approved …..creating a central site to administer their community services and extending the impact they were making on the community. So, it was my joy to impart my God’s economy program in that palace in an auditorium that once hosted Lenin and his inner staff.

Jesus said, “If you will abide in Me and my words abide in you, you will ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” It’s about living in His Presence and the impact that results from being carriers of His Presence.

The sequence in Matthew 10 and 11 captures this dynamic of the combined result and strategy from abiding in His rest, abiding in His Presence in the face of wickedness and impossible opposition.

To the band of twelve that Jesus chose and sent out, their assignment began with Him giving them authority over the dark spirits they would encounter. He told them to give focus to proclaiming the Kingdom of God; and to heal the sick.

In sending them out, He instructed them to discern where they would stay; then to impart His peace, His presence in the abodes of their hosts. He warned them of persecution, division and hate, indicating they would be going out as sheep among wolves. Even when faced with family betrayals, He admonished them to stay the course, to fear God, rather than giving heed to the fear of man.

As if to punctuate the reality of these seriously difficult instructions, there came the word that John the Baptist had been imprisoned. So, within the context of His “sending” instructions, Jesus described the stature and role of John as a forerunner, as being the greatest in the role he served in the Kingdom …. as Jesus had described the flashpoints to be expected, underscoring the need of abiding, when planting and imparting the power and atmosphere of the Kingdom: “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force.”

In conclusion, the atmosphere to be penetrated hasn’t changed. Nor has the challenge. The encouragement comes from that great cloud of witnesses. It transcends the times and nourishes the transitions of the generations. The Psalmist (Ps 24) presciently proclaimed: “THIS is the generation.” The MORE that is required and now underway is manifesting as the current generation arises, embraces its place of authority through abiding in His rest ….and ACTS.
“And it will be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, Remove every obstacle from the way of My people.” Isaiah 57:15

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly by Morris Ruddick

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

With parallels to more than a couple of biblical stories, the spiritual overtones seem to tap headlines in the current, emerging season. The players, voices and senseless lawlessness in today’s drama certainly reverberate with the good, the bad and the ugly. But even the emergence of the movie’s “stranger” seems to suggest redefining this story’s descriptive title as the players portray forerunners, opportunists and ones obsessed. Overshadowing the obsessed, and often the opportunists lie the digressions of those whose base motivations are revealed as scoundrels and scavengers.

Again, with it all tying into the cultural drift and spiritual context of the present, waning season ….  in which black has been described as white and white as black. To the level that the obsessed have sought to expunge references to God and His Truth from public settings. Words upholding righteous standards and values have been distorted and diminished. With voices upholding these standards becoming targets.

Yet emerging has been a wakeup call; and with a groundswell of voices extending beyond the committed believing community, has been a concerted pushback.

In the midst of the clamor, driving the storyline in this classic movie, the unexpected “stranger” is a challenge to the noxious setting. One unfazed by the threats of the lawless. Rugged and resolute in his own right, a stranger not fitting standard profiles. One conforming to players in a number of biblical accounts who seem to “suddenly” emerge into history with their reset mandates.

David, with his band of rebels, poised to bring Israel together was not unlike this stranger whose leadership was embraced in a time of unsettled conflict. Those who became Jesus’ inner-circle were grass-roots characters reaching for higher dimensions, disillusioned with the direction of the cultural status quo. Isaiah’s prescient glimpse of “a voice of one crying in the wilderness,” again pointing to one paralleling the entrance of the stranger, whose ways upended the spiritual atmosphere to unveil the real path in the quest.

The Focus Required in a Changing Season
So, as change takes place and the new season takes root; as it was in those instances, so it is now materializing. It’s certainly not what you think. And not being what you think, it is more aptly tied to how we think. At least for the purpose of navigating the haze of the confusing toxic atmosphere, not to speak of the challenge of the quest.

So, upon us is a new season. It’s a season attracting the raw, unpretentious coarseness of David’s band of followers, the pure earthiness of Jesus’ inner circle and the unrefined hearts of those with ears to hear …. to capture the voice of the One crying in the wilderness. For that matter, it reverberates with the range of voices of the prophets who countered the clamor of chaotic times and wheel spinning quests that drew the scavengers and obsessed out of the woodwork.

Yet within such a time of chaos, was birthed what Jesus set in motion as an unstoppable, groundswell movement. It overshadowed the death and destruction. It was a new thing. His resurrection releasing a new, very pragmatic dimension. Something far more than a shift in outlook and doctrinal focus; although it was that.

The new thing was the impartation and power of the Holy Spirit. An unstoppable force redefining the course of history. The crux was the manifestation of the reality of God through the simplicity of those who captured this dimension in faith …. and believed. Doing so, released the “good,” utterly changing the viewpoint and mindsets of those who did. It was a departure from how they had been thinking with an impact sending shock-waves of change into the spiritual atmosphere.

The Drivers of Change
What does all this mean in this hour? What it requires is an alertness to and refocus on the prophetic, to the Jewish roots of the faith, and importance of the spontaneity of home-prayer gatherings.

It calls for the mantle of fire; for the fire of God’s presence needed to address the fresh machinations of darkness intent on filling the voids. It aligns with the beginnings of past movements of power that have overcome the gap between the natural and the spiritual, over-compensating for both the overt and covert manifestations of evil.

It embraces and flows in the extent to which we are connected community-wise ….and while confronting the darkness, is fueled by the unusual dynamic of seeing one’s needs met by bearing the burdens of others. It is the recognition of the reality of this dimension of the Kingdom of God, where you find Life by giving it up, by dying to self. You gain as you learn the art and gift of giving.
“As your faith grows, so we shall be within our sphere, enlarged even more.” 2 Cor 10:15

With a God-centered, community-based, entrepreneurial model, it is a combined, community force for freedom that releases creativity and opportunity within its ranks. It accelerates on trust. There’s more. A whole lot more to this Kingdom dynamic, but it has to first pivot on these factors of selfless serving and giving. In Acts 3:6, Peter discerningly spoke to the beggar with the words: “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give to you. In the Name of Jesus, get up and walk.”

What Peter released was the authority, the mantle of fire to penetrate the dark forces, to impart his faith and manifest Life to ones held in bondage. In Luke 18:8 Jesus posed the critical question of “When I return, will I find faith on the earth?” Will God’s people be employing their authority, as Peter did? Will they be extending their faith to penetrate the darkness to impart God’s Life and healing? Or just complacently accepting the overshadowing, noxious chaos of the times without question?

Such decisions of faith begin in facing the realities head-on.

Displacing Cultures of Death with Life
While the Clint Eastwood movie portrays the cultural dynamics of a time of explosive change, engendering a quest, a quest of recovery of stolen resources; “il bueno ….the good” suggests the defining importance of engaging in the process, of employing the confidence of faith and Kingdom-thinking …..in the restoration of the spontaneity in being givers of Life, in praying together and for the needy; in being aligned to and responding to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the prophetic; of the wisdom of practicing the community-enhancing dynamics of the Jewish roots to the faith.

Neither Joseph nor Daniel were bashful or hesitant in employing their faith in actuating these key Kingdom dimensions in their interactions within their host cultures, and with their host leaders. AND through the prophetic anointing and wisdom they imparted, they transformed their hosts’ views of reality as well as their host cultures-of-death as a result.

The Overcoming Force for Good: Kingdom Thinking
So, it’s not just what you think, but a new dimension in how you think. Which opens the gateway for “more.” Becoming a force for Life. It’s imperative that this dynamic we call “thinking,” the birth-canal for the creative and the imagination into the supernatural …..for the believer, has got to be transformed by Kingdom thinking.

It is a force for good to confront the challenges of evil and darkness. It is the equalizer that has been the force from On-High throughout the history of God’s people ….from the angelic accompaniments of the community in the wilderness to the anointing of the Holy Spirit ….in the season now unfolding.

This new way of thinking was initially a challenge to Peter’s eagerness. Over the ages, Peter’s blind eagerness has found root in many, before recognizing the power that operates when residing in His rest.

In this yielding to His rest, it became effortless ….”just THAT simple” …. in bearing the burdens of others; in giving away what he had, and fully capturing the mindset of “such as I have I give to you.” It released the power that changed the reality that had long trapped the destitute beggar.

Again, it was that rest and the giving away, the impartation of the anointing, for both Joseph and Daniel with the prophetic foresight to “see” beyond their own needs into the realities that explained the troubling dreams their host-nation’s leaders had had in facing the challenging times to be faced.

Persevering in New Seasons
“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” centers around a time of extreme darkness. It radiated the conflict and chaos reflected in the quests between the good, the bad and the ugly. Yet, it carried with it a change of seasons, which so often tend to be turbulent. Traditions guiding societal and economic foundations had been upended. What may have guided sound protocol in the past were no longer enough. The setting and atmosphere required more, a lot more.

So, when taken from a big-picture perspective, the perseverance of faith through Kingdom-thinking ambassadors, released the forces of Life, for good, serving to bring change.

It underscores the distinction between those that build and those who tear down. A dynamic keenly seen by Isaiah.

God has always had a pathway, a trajectory and destination. In this trajectory, it bears on the significance in recognizing that He is on His throne orchestrating the grand scheme of history. His intent is the restoration of all things; that He is known as a rewarder of those who seek Him, those reaching to be participators in His divine purposes.

The pattern from the beginning is the pathway paved by God’s most unlikely, by the Isaac’s who heard from God and boldly sowed and reaped in famine. By the Josephs and Daniels whose prophetic wisdom redeemed the elect and their host cultures from the destruction and death manifesting and lingering among the obsessed and the scavengers.

For Joseph, Daniel, David and the birth of the early Church, that assignment, as with the time following the US Civil War, emerged following the radical disruption and challenge needed to displace embedded societal dark mind-sets, ones that were aligned with undermining and tearing down.

These were and are today the defining dynamics of the “builders” foreseen by Isaiah. These are those who emerge during a time of chaos and great change, challenged by the dark machinations of the scoundrels, whose efforts engender the erosion of righteous foundations, failing to grasp the big-picture.

The Opportunity and Assignment from On-High
Many years ago, as I was reaching for the focus I needed in defining my own assignment, a good friend, a Jewish believer and anointed intercessor called me with a message. She shared that she had been praying for me and felt strongly that she had “heard” that my assignment was to be tied to “mapping out, building up and bringing wealth into Israel.”

While I tend to be a big-picture guy, that word, that glimpse into the context of my own assignment seriously challenged me. Yet, it conformed to Isaiah foreseeing a time and a shift that would come to Israel in which the riches of the seas and the wealth of the nations would be redirected to Israel. (Isa 60:5)

Today’s setting globally is not unlike the lawless frontier following the dramatic change that accompanied the US Civil war. On the scene are the manifestations and clamor of the good, the bad and the ugly.

The challenge described by the times faced by Joseph, Daniel, David, the birth of the early Church and now, is in recognizing not just the opportunity of the quest, but in facing the realities of the setting, taking on the challengers head-on, and giving primary focus to the assignment from On-High.

Again, what is required in this assignment is an alertness to and embracing of the prophetic, to the Jewish roots of the faith, and to the spontaneity of home-prayer gatherings. It conforms to past movements of power that imparted Life in overt and covert cultures of death; being connected community-wise ….and compensated by Kingdom strategies, beginning with seeing one’s needs met by bearing the burdens of others. It is the recognition of finding Life by giving it up, by dying to self, gained through abiding in His rest and embracing the art and gift of giving.

So it has been that throughout the course of the history of God’s people, the pattern has been the conflict between the good, the bad and the ugly. Whether recognized or not, the pathway has been by embracing the mysteries of God …. in reaching for that which is not as though it were. God has continually responded in covenant protection and blessing with those who have genuinely reached for Him ….and in judgment to rein in and restore the wayward.

The process demands new ways of viewing the realities. The assignment is strengthened prophetically and involves monumental resets. All of which targets the restoration of the foundations tied to God’s covenant with His people.

In short, it reflects David’s heart-cry of “show me Your ways O Lord that I might walk in Your truth with an undivided heart.” So it will be with what is unfolding for this generation in the turmoil now underway among the nations.

Mapping out, building up and bringing wealth into Israel. It certainly is a major departure from the current clamor of anti-Semitism. It’s the big picture, which does not depart from being congruent with Jesus’ foresight of the separation of the sheep and goat nations; with those whose focus would conform to His returning to find “faith on the earth.”
“The LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:11-12
