Change - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Change

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

"Moab has been at ease since his youth; he has also been undisturbed, like wine on its dregs,
and he has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, nor has he gone into exile. Therefore he retains his flavor, and his aroma has not changed.” (Jeremiah 48:11, NASU)

From what I can tell, it wasn’t a good thing that Moab, written about in this Scripture verse, didn’t change. In fact, it sounds like rather than being a pleasant smell his flavor became undesirable. Does that happen when we resist or refuse, to change?

With my limited understanding of winemaking, the winery has to make sure the wine process continues by pouring the liquid from one vessel to another. Otherwise, the sediment that settles at the bottom of the barrel taints the wine, affecting the outcome in flavor. Now that wouldn’t be good for the finished product. The pouring process is an essential part of the best that is yet to come at the end.

I have found it to be true also in the human spirit. This is one reason why change is so important in our life. When we settle in one place, content to let things be as they are, without ruffling the feathers, or making waves, our spirit becomes tainted with the sediments that have fallen to the bottom. Rather than being poured out into the next vessel, to have that be left behind, these particles work themselves back into our soul. If left as that, certain undesirables can be stirred up. Such things as bitterness, unforgiveness, and resentment work themselves up to the surface again, never being left behind as they should be through forgiveness and forgetting what should be left behind.

I believe Paul understood this spiritual principle when he wrote, “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-15, NASU) If we are to reach the best the Lord has in store for us we will be required to leave behind sediment that will ruin the flavor and aroma of our spiritual life. Change has to become a normal process in our daily walk.

Becoming settled in the ease of life will prevent us from walking in the faith we are called to walk out. Achieving more than just getting by, or becoming satisfied with being undisturbed, will prevent the Lord from providing the grace needed to become the best wine we have been called to become. Otherwise, we risk the action of being poured out on the ground, having lost the fullness of life.

Welcome change as it comes. Be prepared to say “Yes” when the Lord seeks more through you, with Him requesting a change from here to there, whether it be spiritual or in the natural. Expect change to open doors that must be opened in order to finish the call on your life. The next door, or vessel, is meant to take you “from glory to glory”.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18, NKJV)

Going from one place to another will always require change. And change is required to achieve the final finished product we are meant to become.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Shabbat Shalom ✡ "The Grapes of Your Vineyard"

When you pick the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean after you: it shall be for the stranger, the orphan and the widow.

Shabbat Inspiration

This week's Torah portion (Deut. 21:10-25:19) tells of the lush grape vineyards indigenous to the Land of Israel. In fact, grapes play a prominent role in Judaism for we begin our Shabbat meals and other rituals with a blessing over a cup of wine. The honored fruit can also teach us a vital life lesson answering an age old dilemma faced by religious thinkers, of how bad things can happen to good people. Just like grapes must be totally crushed in order to produce quality wine, it is through our trials and tribulations that we can reach our highest potential. Scary Divine Connections Between Gush Katif and Hurricane Katrina Revealed on 10-Year Anniversary

It's been 10 years since the Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip and Hurricane Katrina. On a surface level, both events seem to have no relation to one another. However, deeper exploration reveals a startling Divine connection.

Ram's Horn Shofar

The significance of the shofar dates back to the dawn of Jewish history, and its call still echoes today in synagogues and temples all over the world. Playing an important role in the Bible, the shofar is a key part of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur, when it is played to mark the end of fasting. Shofars are also used to welcome Shabbat, and to announce the new year and the new moon. Only Shofarot Israel offers the skills and expertise of fifteen generations, dating back to 14th century Spain, and now adapted to the modern technology and requirements of present-day Israel and the international market.

Bob Jones Dream Dec 9, 2014 by Dr. Sharnael Wolverton

Bob Jones Dream Dec 9, 2014

by Dr. Sharnael Wolverton

Identity Network
Many of you know that I went to Montana to fast and pray last week at the Wellness Center in Kalispell. I also had the opportunity to minister in Bigfork at Mountain Song Church.

It was a wonderful time of refreshment, depth, and meeting amazing new people.

About midway through the fast I had a dream where the late Bob Jones came to me. As most of you know, Bob was a dear man and friend of God. For me personally, no other person has affected me or impacted me spiritually more than him on this earth. He still often impacts me from heaven:) and his legacy lives on through many, many others who were affected by his amazing ministry to God and the body of Christ.

In this dream, he laid hands on me and prayed for me as he has done many times over the years before he went to be with Jesus in February 2014. Many of the things he shared in the dream are too personal to disclose but there is one thing I felt crucial to share as I know it is definitely a more corporate word of caution...

Don't Drink the Wine

He said with all seriousness for us "Not to drink the wine."

This reminded me of the saying "Don't drink the Kool-Aid."

I asked him if he specifically meant literal wine!? Or did he mean something symbolic?

His response was "Not to engage in lower level things.... (people, things or activities, etc.)"
To engage means to occupy, attract or involve someone's interest or attention. To participate, join in, or get involved in....to play.

Lower level things have to do with trading floors or things of lower frequency. Whether people, music, anti-nutrient food or drinks, thought, conversation, or any activity.  Engaging in any of the lower frequency things or people....this is not good.

After sharing this dream with some of my board and considering other input from recent words I received from my team, here is more to give better clarity:

Who are You Partnering With?

Drinking wine with someone also represents covenant relationship. I feel strongly that "Not engaging in lower level activity" & "Don't drink the wine" also speaks of a clear warning to be careful who you are partnering with in this season.

One of our intercessors also had sent "Beware of sheep in wolves clothes" only a day before this dream, which is only confirmation again.

I am also reminded of recent headlines regarding a specific "father figure" actor now being accused of getting women specifically to drink the wine, and or other drinks given to them in order for him to abuse these women while they are drugged. They are all now coming forward with many allegations. This man was trusted. He had a reputation of being fatherly, a mentor, a support to these women.

You have heard the phrase "drink the Kool-Aid."  This is a reference to the 1978 cult mass-suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. Jim Jones, the leader of the group, convinced his followers to move to Jonestown. Late in the year he then ordered his flock to commit suicide by drinking grape-flavored Kool-Aid laced with potassium cyanide. In what is now commonly called "the Jonestown Massacre," 913 of the 1100 Jonestown residents drank the Kool-Aid and died.

One lasting legacy of the Jonestown tragedy is the saying, "Don't drink the Kool-Aid." This has come to mean, "Don't trust any group until you test it out!" or "Whatever they tell you, don't believe it too strongly."

In Other Words....

Who we are partnering with or making covenant with is critical in this day. We don't have time for surprises, drama or distraction because of a lack of discernment or jumping in too fast to commitments. Take time to consider who you may partner with. KNOW them before you do anything.

Ask God for revelation and clarity in ministry, business or personal relationship of any kind. Seriously. No matter their "reputation."

We must know by the Spirit and seek help from the Spirit for guidance in all partnerships, friendships, etc. For our safety, for our mentality, for our emotions and for us to remain focused on the day at hand.

We cannot be entangled or engaged in a Mesmerizing Spirit!

Bob Jones said in the dream these lower level things were only a distraction. Let's talk about lower level things....

Set Your Heart and Mind

The Sunday before this dream while ministering in Bigfork, Montana The Lord gave me Romans 5:8.

To SET our hearts and minds on the Spirit and not the things of the flesh. The scripture says the things of the flesh are death and HOSTILE to God.

The reason why the Bible constantly speaks of setting your mind on good things (here in Romans, also in Philippians 4 and many other places) is because to set your heart and mind on something of the SPIRIT is an act of purpose, intention, obedience, and worship.

Only you can choose to do it. He reminds us to do this why? Because it isn't natural...Even as Christians...Especially AS Christians...He tells us SET your mind.....SET your heart. He tells us because He knew it would be hard.

Most the entire world is programmed in the negative (lower frequency), in the flesh. TV, movies, billboards, people, conversations, thoughts, radio stations, books, media. The majority of the world spends its day programming you and we unconsciously have our minds SET FOR US.... If we are not careful.

Ephesians 6:12 says we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

That word wrestle means to VIBRATE.

When we are born again, we are automatically vibrating against evil just by being alive.
We must intentionally practice setting our hearts and minds IN Him and ON Him moment to moment. Sow to the Spirit. Feed the Spirit. Nurture the Spirit, for His Kingdom's sake.
Do not engage in lower level ANYTHING. If someone gives you bait or a hook - Don't play! Don't drink the wine...(or the Kool-Aid!)

Bible Feasts:

Paul said in Colossians 2:16-17 that the Jewish feasts and celebrations were a shadow of the things to come through Jesus Christ. And though as Christians we may not commemorate these holidays in the traditional biblical sense, as we discover the significance of each, we will certainly gain a greater knowledge of God's Word, an improved understanding of the Bible, and a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Passover Feast - Pesach:

Passover commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, as recorded in the book of Exodus. On Passover, Jews also celebrate the birth of the Jewish nation after being freed by God from captivity. Today, the Jewish people not only remember an historic event on Passover, but also celebrate in a broad sense, their freedom as Jews.
The Hebrew word Pesach means "to pass over." During Passover Jews take part in a meal known as the Seder, which incorporates the retelling of the story of Exodus and God's deliverance from bondage in Egypt. Each participant of the Passover Seder experiences in a personal way, a national celebration of freedom through God's intervention and deliverance. Hag HaMatzah or the Feast of Unleavened Bread and Yom HaBikkurim or Firstfruits are both mentioned in Leviticus 23 as separate feasts, however, today Jews celebrate all three feasts as part of the eight-day Passover holiday.

Time of Observance:

Today, Passover begins on day 15 of the Hebrew month of Nissan (March or April) and continues for 8 days. Originally, Passover began at twilight on the fourteenth day of Nissan (Leviticus 23:5), and then the next day, day 15, the Feast of Unleavened Bread would begin and continue for seven days (Leviticus 23:6).
• See Bible Feasts Calendar for the actual dates of Passover.

Scripture Reference:

The story of Passover is recorded in the Old Testament book of Exodus.

About Passover:

Joseph, son of Jacob, after being sold into slavery in Egypt, was kept by God and greatly blessed. Eventually he was put into a high position—second-in-command to Pharaoh. In time, Joseph moved his entire family to Egypt and protected them there. 400 years later, the Israelites had grown into a people numbering 2 million. There were so many Jews in Egypt that the new Pharaoh was afraid of their power. To maintain control, he turned them into slaves, oppressing them with harsh labor and ruthless treatment.
Yet, through a man named Moses (great, great grandson of Jacob), God came to rescue his people.
At the time Moses was born, Pharaoh had ordered the death of all Hebrew males, but God spared Moses when his mother hid him in a basket along the banks of the Nile. Pharaoh's daughter found the baby and decided to raise him as her own. Later Moses fled to Midian after killing an Egyptian for cruelly beating one of his own people. There God appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush and said, "I have seen the misery of my people. I have heard their cries, I care about their suffering, and I have come to rescue them. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:7-10, paraphrased)
After making some excuses, Moses finally obeyed God and confronted Pharaoh. But when Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites go, God sent a series of plagues to persuade him. With the final plague God promised to strike dead every first-born son in Egypt at midnight on the 15th day of the month of Nissan. But to Moses, the Lord provided instructions so his people would be spared. Each Hebrew family was to take a Passover lamb, slaughter it, and place some of the blood on the door frames of their homes. When the destroyer passed over Egypt, he would not enter the homes covered by the blood of the Passover lamb.
These and other instructions became part of a lasting ordinance from God for the observance of the Passover Feast, so that the generations to come would always remember God's great deliverance.
At midnight, the Lord struck down all the firstborn of Egypt, and that very night Pharaoh called Moses and said, "Up! Leave my people. Go." They left in haste and God led them toward the Red Sea. After a few days Pharaoh changed his mind, and decided to send his army in pursuit. When the Egyptian army reached them at the banks of the Red Sea, the Hebrew people were afraid and cried out to God.
Moses answered, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today."
Moses stretched out his hand and the sea parted, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground, with a wall of water on either side. And when the Egyptian army followed, it was thrown into confusion. Moses then stretched out his hand over the sea again and the entire army was swept away, leaving no survivors.

Jesus and Passover:

In Luke 22, Jesus shared the Passover meal with his apostles saying, "I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins. For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God." (Luke 22:15-16, NLT) Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover. He is the Lamb of God, sacrificed to set us free from bondage to sin. (John 1:29; Psalm 22; Isaiah 53) His blood covers and protects us, and his body was broken to free us from eternal death. (1 Corinthians 5:7)
In the Jewish tradition a hymn of praise known as the Hallel is sung during the Passover Seder. In it is Psalm 118:22, speaking of the Messiah: "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone." (NIV) Jesus said in Matthew 21:42, one week before his death, that he himself was the stone the builders rejected.
As God commanded the Israelites to always commemorate his great deliverance through the Passover meal, we Christians were instructed by Christ as well, to continually remember his sacrifice through The Lord's Supper or Communion.

More Facts About Passover

  • Jews drink four cups of wine at the Seder. The third cup is called the cup of redemption, the same cup of wine taken during the Last Supper.
  • The bread of the Last Supper is the Afikomen of Passover, or the middle Matzah which is pulled out and broken in two. Half is wrapped in white linen and hidden. The children search for the unleavened bread in the white linen. Whoever finds it brings it back to be redeemed for a price. The other half of the bread is eaten, ending the meal.
