Murdered Columbine Student's Prophetic Journal Entries Will Shock and Inspire You

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Truly living out one's faith can be deeply transformational. That reality was affirmed for actress Masey McLain after she portrayed Columbine High School shooting victim Rachel Joy Scott in the Pure Flix film "I'm Not Ashamed" —a movie that recounts Scott's life, faith and ministry to others before her tragic and untimely death in 1999.
"She was just a 17-year-old girl in the middle of Colorado. She wasn't famous; she didn't have a platform," McLain said of Scott during a recent appearance on PureFlix.com's "Pure Talk." "She really took the word of God seriously and became the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around her. She impacted so many people's lives just because of her faithfulness."
One of the most intriguing parts of Scott's story were the journals she left behind—pages filled with images and commentary about her life that indicated she had a premonition that she would die young.
Watch McLain speak about Rachel's incredible story—and her journals—in the video.
On May 2, 1998, less than one year before her death, Scott wrote that it would be her last year on Earth and told God that she had received what she could from this world.
Perhaps most captivating was an image that she drew of two eyes crying 13 tears onto a flower. Scott reportedly drew that image right before two gunmen killed her and 12 others inside Columbine.
McLain found all of these elements both fascinating and moving, and revealed that she was deeply moved after reading Scott's journals.
"It was a surreal experience reading her journals. I just cried the whole time, honestly," she said. "One of the most eerie and shocking things, looking at her journals—she almost knew that she was going to die."
McLain said she was initially nervous about playing the role of Scott, a beloved person whose intense faith and trust in God continue to inspire people across the world.
"[I] was just completely [humbled] and honored to be able to step into her shoes," McLain said. "I didn't want to be the one to mess it up ... not do her justice."
In the end, though, McLain said that she had a wonderful director (Brian Baugh) and film team who supported her throughout the production process. Plus, Scott's mother, Beth Nimmo, called McLain before shooting began to encourage her to go in with confidence.
"I had an incredible director and ... team that just always said that they believed that God had called me to this," she said, adding that she relied on God to help her portray Scott with accuracy. "I didn't know Rachel, but I knew God did."
McLain said that she continues to receive messages on social media from scores of people who continue to be impacted by Scott's story.
Watch Rachel's story come to life in the movie I'm Not Ashamed.

Joel Rosenberg Explains Why He Believes Humanity is Living in the End of Days - CBN News

Joel Rosenberg Explains Why He Believes Humanity is Living in the End of Days
04-28-2018
Are we living in the biblical end times?
That’s a question that has consistently emerged over the past two millennia, with scores of Christians
wondering when Jesus’ second coming will unfold. It’s a topic that famed Christian author Joel
Rosenberg has often discussed, as the prophecy expert routinely shares what he believes the Bible
says about the end of days.

Rosenberg, the author of the new book, “The Kremlin Conspiracy,” said during a recent appearance on PureFlix.com’s “Pure Talk” that he believes humanity technically entered the last days once Jesus came,
died, rose and set the gospel message into motion.

While Rosenberg said the Bible tells us not to date-set, he pointed to signs that he believes indicate
that humanity is moving further toward the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
“I don’t know when I don’t have a date … but if you look at all the prophecies … one wonders,”
he said. “You see a lot of global chaos .. more Christians have been slaughtered in the last century
than at any other time in human history — and that’s saying something because we’ve been often
slaughtered.”

In the internive (link below) Rosenberg explains why he believes humanity is living at the end of days.

It was the rebirth of Israel in 1948, though, that Rosenberg believes is quite significant, as he called it
one of the “main prophecies” in the Old Testament, pointing back to Ezekiel 36-39 as one of the places
where Israel’s re-emergence is prophesied.

Rosenberg also addressed claims that “Gog of the land of Magog” referenced in Ezekiel was a
forewarning of a leader from Russia. Based on his reading of the text, Rosenberg explained what
his interpretation of the still-unfulfilled events would be.

“The one-day, future evil leader of Russia is going to form an alliance with Iran, Turkey and some
other hostile countries to come and surround and attack Israel in the last days,” Rosenberg said, adding
that these events could still be hundreds of years away.

That said, he believes Russia’s activities in Syria and relations with other dangerous players like Iran
and North Korea should raise some eyebrows.

“I don’t know what to make of it, but it’s not good,” he said. “Vladimir Putin is more dangerous to the
United States and our way of life than radical Islam. And I don’t think most Americans process it
that way.”

Regardless of what happens, Rosenberg said that it’s essential for Christians to pray for peace in
Jerusalem and the surrounding nations and lands.

He also encouraged Christians to step in and, when possible, help deliver humanitarian relief to those
impacted by the chaos and carnage currently raging in the Middle East.

Ex-Atheist Lee Strobel Breaks Down 4 Reasons Why Jesus’ Death and Resurrection Are Absolute FACT
03-28-2018
Famed author and apologist Lee Strobel recently revealed four reasons why he believes people can have confidence that Jesus truly died and resurrected.
Strobel noted in a recent video that he would have gotten a good laugh out of the fact that Easter falls this year on April Fools’ Day, as he believed that “anyone would have to be a fool to think that Jesus literally rose from the dead.”
Strobel is a former journalist who was once an atheist reporter for The Chicago Tribune, but today he is a devoted Christian who routinely writes books defending the Christian faith.

In a video uploaded to Vimeo last week, Strobel broke down four reasons that he believes people can have confidence in the resurrection, as The Christian Post noted.
First, he noted that scholars are in agreement and that there are early reports of Christ’s resurrection.
“I found that there’s no dispute among scholars that Jesus was dead after being crucified,” Strobel said. “”We have early reports of the resurrection of Jesus — reports that come so quickly, you can’t just write them off as being a legend.”
He continued, “We have one report of the resurrection, including named eye-witnesses, that has been dated back by scholars to within months of the resurrection of Jesus. Friends, that is historical gold.”

BILLY HALLOWELL/FAITHWIRE  CHARISMA NEWS
Actor Jim Caviezel believes his Christian faith helped protect him from the potential pitfalls of Hollywood and fame, specifically drugs and other vices that sometimes take over actors' lives.
He revealed in a recent interview with Faithwire how people in his acting classes would sometimes turn to such activities, and explained why he ended up taking a very different path.
"I think it would have been a matter of time before I started that bad habit and go to the wrong places [but] I had enough wisdom from the faith I already had [to know] that's not going to make me happy," he said, adding that he has been "forced into arms of God" throughout his career.

'Biblical Superhero' About to Invade the Box Office and Prove Just How Powerful God Is - BILLY HALLOWELL FAITHWIRE

Scott, who likened Samson to a "biblical superhero" of sorts, said that he believes it's a good time for an action-themed Christian movie to take center stage, particularly one based on a figure who is so known and loved.

'Biblical Superhero' About to Invade the Box Office and Prove Just How Powerful God Is

As Christian movie house Pure Flix prepares for the Feb. 16 release of Samson, a film about the popular biblical figure known for his supernatural strength, CEO Michael Scott is revealing how he believes the film will help teach Christians some valuable life lessons.
"So much in our lives today ... we're focused on our things, it may not be God's things. We may be off track in what we're doing," he said, noting that Samson's story of regaining his strength to defeat his enemies offers up some lessons in perseverance. "Ultimately, God came through and [Samson] was able to finish what God had for him and finish strong."
Scott, who likened Samson to a "biblical superhero" of sorts, said that he believes it's a good time for an action-themed Christian movie to take center stage, particularly one based on a figure who is so known and loved.
"There's a great love story in this ... but it's also got the action element," he said. "It's just timely for a movie like this with all the other fare that's coming out in the marketplace."
Scott also discussed the history behind how Pure Flix came to make popular, feature-length pictures, noting that the company started off in 2005 by producing small films.
Over time, though, the business evolved to yield features such as God's Not Dead and The Case for Christ.
The lessons that have been learned along the way have been profound, with Pure Flix becoming so established that the company now makes a global impact through its films, messaging and a streaming platform.
"What I was shocked by ... [is] the amount of impact a movie can have ... we can really communicate with our culture today," Scott said. "If you have an incredible story that can be packaged up with the right message ... I think it can be a powerful tool used for the Lord."
And the film company's audience isn't solely comprised of Christians, as Scott said that up to one-third of its film viewers are "non-believers."
"I'm thrilled to be here at Pure Flix ... and just watch what God can do," he said.

In Prayer, Chaplain Calls for 'More Senators' Willing to 'Call Sin by Its Right Name' - BILLY HALLOWELL / FAITHWIRE CHARISMA NEWS

Chaplain Barry Black (YouTUBE)

In Prayer, Chaplain Calls for 'More Senators' Willing to 'Call Sin by Its Right Name'

Senate Chaplain Barry Black—known for his stirring prayers and speeches—delivered a powerful invocation calling for more politicians who, without regard for consequences, are willing to call out sin for what it is.
"Give us more senators who are true to duty as the needle to the pole," Black prayed. "Give us more legislators who are not afraid to call sin by its right name. Lord, provide us with more patriots who will stand for right, regardless of the consequences."
The prayer came just one day after Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) announced that he won't be running for re-election next year and took to the U.S. Senate floor to issue some strong rebukes of President Donald Trump and the current state of political affairs.

Woman Who Says She Died and Went to Heaven Reveals God’s Haunting Words Before Her Return

09-26-2017
Dr. Mary Neal recently shared her fascinating experience of purportedly dying and visiting heaven — an event that left the once-skeptical doctor with a totally transformed perspective.
In a recent appearance on “The Billy Hallowell Podcast,” Neal discussed some of the stunning things she says she saw after she died during a kayaking accident.
“I absolutely believe that God presents to each one of us that scene at that experience that we’ll understand, that will resonate with us, that will make us feel welcomed and loved and understood and known,” she said of heaven. “And the thing that has always moved my soul deeply is color and flowers and the intricacies of flowers and the aromas of flowers. And so that’s what I saw.”
Neal continued, “This path was woven together and created out of every color of the rainbow and colors that don’t exist here. There were flowers, there was the aroma, and everything absolutely exploded with God’s love.”
She also revealed that God essentially told her that her son would later die, an event that did come to fruition.
Listen to Neal reveal what she saw and heard below:

Here is the Complete Story Behind the Attacks on Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church- CBN News - Billy Hallowell, Faithwire

Here is the Complete Story Behind the Attacks on Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church
08-29-2017
As Pastor Joel Osteen and his church face mounting criticism for not immediately hosting Houstonians fleeing their homes in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, representatives are speaking out to provide additional background and context.
Don Iloff, a spokesperson for Lakewood Church, told Faithwire late on Monday night that the house of worship has been in touch with city and county officials in recent days and has been planning outreach efforts.
But considering that the church’s building — inside what was once the Compaq Center sports arena — is prone to flooding, Iloff said that Lakewood chose to instead focus its energies on the ways in which the church could serve as a food and resource distribution center, among other outreach efforts.

And considering that Houston officials had set up shelters throughout the city — including a massive location at the George R. Brown Convention Center just five miles from Lakewood — Iloff said that the church had planned to host people in the event that those locations were full or at capacity.
“We had warning with this storm, so they set up shelters around the city … that convention center is 5 or 6 times bigger [than Lakewood],” he told Faithwire. “They set that up with everything from the cots, food, triage.”

A photo of the flooding that was said to be inside and outside of Lakewood Church (Lakewood Church)

Iloff also noted that, while Lakewood was more than willing to make-do and house people, unlike the convention center, Lakewood has “no showers” and no kitchen, making the church more of an emergency shelter than anything else. Initially, the church waited to hear from city officials and planned to respond if needed.
Still, Iloff continuously affirmed that the bigger issue that impacted the decision to not immediately serve as a shelter centered on the building’s history of flooding.
“The fact is that we knew that we could not put anyone on the bottom floor,” he said, noting that the first floor is where the most space exists for housing flood victims. “We were very concerned about putting anyone on that bottom floor given the history.”

Another eyewitness account from a Houstonian regarding the "flooding" of @JoelOsteen's Lakewood Church. Asked not to be named.

And though there has been much debate on social media about whether Lakewood experienced any flooding during Hurricane Harvey, photos provided by the church — as well as Iloff’s own account — point to water creeping up the floodgates on the lower level.
“They were within a foot of cresting the floodgates … that flootgate’s 10 feet tall,” Iloff said. “It was within a foot of coming over that floodgate.”

Lakewood Church

With more rain slated to come down in Houston over this past weekend, Iloff said Lakewood didn’t want to endanger people, especially if there was enough room in the shelter system.
But he reaffirmed that church leaders did ask government officials to let them know if and when the time came for a greater need for shelter for victims impacted by the storm.

A photo of the flooding that was said to be inside Lakewood Church (Lakewood Church)

No such request had reportedly been made before controversy surrounding Osteen and the church broke out on social media and quickly went viral.
“We were on the phone with the city … they said the shelters are fine at the moment,” he said. “We basically said we can put [a few hundred] people on the second level [and the] city said, ‘We’ll get back with you.’ We are prepared to house those people.”
Controversy initially broke out after a photo was shared on Twitter that appeared to show that the church wasn’t extensively flooded, though it is unclear when that image was taken. On Sunday, Lakewood took to its Facebook page to explain that the church wouldn’t be open for services and offered up a list of available shelters.
“Dear Houstonians! Lakewood Church is inaccessible due to severe flooding!” the message read. “We want to help make sure you are safe. Please see the list below for safe shelters around our city, and please share this with those in need!”

Front of @JoelOsteen's huge Lakewood Church in Houston at 11 am. Closed due to "flooding". Person who took it asked to be anonymous.

Iloff said that the one detail being overlooked in the current narrative is that Lakewood has a “history of sheltering people,” pointing back to Tropical Storm Allison, which devastated the region back in 2001. The church, which was still in its former location and hadn’t yet moved to the arena, housed 3,000 people and became the largest shelter in the city.
It should be noted that, at the time, the Compaq Center (where Lakewood now resides) did cancel sports events in the wake of the tropical storm, with extensive flooding being reported by the Lawrence Journal-World.
So, flooding fears on the part of Osteen’s team weren’t exactly unfounded:
When Jerry McDonald arrived at the arena that’s home of the Houston Comets and the Houston Rockets, he was stunned.
Flood waters from torrential rains brought by Tropical Storm Allison had inundated the Compaq Center, where McDonald is general manager.
“The court was floating in water four feet off the ground,” McDonald said.
As for the current debate over Lakewood’s response, numerous news reports noted that some Lakewood staff members also needed to be rescued amid the chaotic flood scene.
And Iloff added another detail that he felt was important to emphasize: “The [church] doors have never been locked.”

A photo of the flooding that was said to be inside Lakewood Church (Lakewood Church)

In fact, while Iloff believes the media narrative painted a picture in which scores of people were coming to the church and being turned away, he said that, until around 2 p.m. on Monday, access to the church was difficult due to flooding and that only three people had come to the church doors thus far; those people were assisted, he said.
Lakewood Church is now working with Samaritan’s Purse and has launched a fund to raise money that will strictly be used for hurricane relief, Iloff said.
The church also plans to coordinate distribution outreaches, offering baby formula, adult diapers and other supplies to members of the public.

Iloff, who said the church was already coordinating with Samaritan’s Purse before debate broke out over the initial decision not to house people, said that he believes Lakewood Church is perfectly situated to help people in the community pick up the pieces of their life after the waters recede — and that this was always the plan.
“Where we really focus our efforts … is on the aftermath of this thing,” he said. “We’re going to be dealing with this for years to come. This is when peoples’ lives need to be put back together.”
A photo emerged on Monday evening that purported to show that the church was setting up air-mattresses. And while Iloff said he could confirm that the image was taken inside the church, he had not been able to reach the church administrator to confirm the timing or purpose of those air mattresses.

Lakewood Church apparently bought countless air mattresses and are prepping to open their doors. Took a while but good news.

Osteen himself also released a statement on Monday, saying that the church is “prepared to shelter people.” His statement came amid reportsthat the George R. Brown Convention Center was over capacity on Monday night.
“We have never closed our doors. We will continue to be a distribution center for those in need.  We are prepared to shelter people once the cities and county shelters reach capacity,” he said. “Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm in helping our fellow citizens rebuild their lives.”
