Today's Israel Inspiration

This verse teaches that those who do “what is right” and “speak the truth” will merit to dwell with the Lord. According to Rabbi David Kimchi, “speak the truth” implies that it is not enough to think or know the truth, but you must speak about it and spread it. Finding the truth in a world of falsehood is a constant challenge. Especially with regard to Israel, there is an abundance of misinformation that is spread. It is therefore important to learn effective tools for speaking up on Israel’s behalf and countering common adverse claims made against Israel. Spreading the truth about Israel will bring the world closer to peace and closer to God. The same holds true for the tragedy of the Holocaust. All too soon after the war concluded, deniers crept up publicly stating the genocide had never occurred, an embarrassment to the thousands who endured the horrific catastrophe. It's therefore our absolute duty to ensure they live the remainder of their lives with dignity, restoring their faith in humanity, and promising that 'Never Again' means never again.

Here's What Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer Had to Say About 'Militant Islam' - GEORGE RASLEY/CONSERVATIVE HQ EDITOR

Here's What Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer Had to Say About 'Militant Islam'

At an elegant gala in New York City, our friends at the Center for Security Policy conferred upon Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer their 2016 Freedom Flame award. At the same dinner, Zionist Organization of America Communities President Morton Klein received the 2016 Keeper of the Flame award.
Both men gave important remarks that are worth reading and dissecting, and we will start with Ambassador Dermer's discussion of what he called "militant Islam."
Now, there are many militant individuals in groups. Timothy McVeigh and Ted Kaczynski can be described as militants. Terror groups like the FARC and the Tamil Tigers, who are responsible for the murder of tens and thousands of people, are militant organizations. But while these individuals and groups are extremely dangerous, they are not part of a global movement; "militant Islam" is.
The forces of "militant Islam" have struck in New York, in Orlando, London and Paris, Bali and Bangkok, Sydney and Buenos Aires and dozens of other places across the world. In the Middle East and North Africa they have struck in every country between the Straits of Gibraltar and the Khyber Pass.
Ambassador Dermer proceeded to explain that "militant Islam" is not monolithic, there are Sunni branches, such as ISIS, al Qaeda, Boko Haram in Nigeria, al Shabaab in Somalia and Hamas in Gaza. There are Shia branches such as the Ayatollah regime in Iran, the various Shia militias in Iraq, the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
These branches have different theologies, explained Dermer: the militant Sunnis are fixated on the early seventh century; the militant Shiites are fixated on the middle of the tenth century. Perhaps one day they'll compromise and take us back to sometime in the eighth century.
Ambassador Dermer further stated:
And while these militant Islamists, they fight Christians and Jews, Yazidis and Kurds and other non-Muslims, they also ferociously fight each other in their battle to determine who will be the king of the militant Islamic hill. But for all their differences, all the branches and sub branches of "militant Islam" are rooted in a similar radical ideology, and they are fired by the same fanaticism. They all seek to reverse history, the rise of the West, and to restore Islam to its former glory.
For all of these groups, said Dermer, the answer to their problems is Islam in one radical form or another. That is why the forces of "militant Islam" are in fact part of the same global threat, and that is why they must be countered as part of a global strategy.
However, Ambassador Dermer was hopeful that "militant Islam" was not the only future available to the world's 1.7 billion Muslims:
But, ladies and gentlemen, just as the enemy we face is not mere militancy, the enemy we face is also not Islam. Islam is a faith with some 1.7 billion adherents throughout the world, and faiths, including the faith of Islam, are malleable things ... So too the relevantly tolerant Islam practiced in 12th century Spain, and practiced for some thirteen centuries in Persia before 1979, is not the Islam of ISIS or the Islam of today's Ayatollah regime. Admittedly it is troubling, it is troubling that to find a more tolerant Christianity, one only need look at the present, whereas to find a more tolerant Islam, one must look largely to the past. But my point, ladies and gentlemen, is Islam, like other faiths, has evolved. I see no reason why it cannot or will not evolve again, so do not assume that the forces ascendant in the Muslim world today will be the same forces ascendant in the future.
The most dangerous lies that Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have tried to sell to the American people are that "Islam is a religion of peace" and that "They [the leaders of ISIS, al Qaeda, etc.] are not religious leaders—they're terrorists. And we are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam."
Contrary to what President Obama said, the most violent terrorists in today's world are Islamic. Moreover, as Breitbart's John Sexton documented two years ago, while the truly violent jihadists make up a tiny percentage of Muslim's worldwide; a significant percentage of Muslims around the world, numbering well over 100 million, believe practices like mutilation, stoning and the death penalty are appropriate for non-violent offenses.
Pew did do a worldwide poll of Muslims which included their attitudes toward Sharia law. What the poll found was that 74 percent of Egyptian Muslims favored making Sharia the law of the land and, among those, 86 percent believed the death penalty was appropriate in cases of apostasy. If you multiply it out, calculated Sexton, you get 64.5 percent of Egyptians who believe in killing apostates.
Another question Pew asked was about support for stoning women caught in adultery. The response to that question was similar or higher in some cases to the apostasy question, notes Sexton. In Indonesia (the most populous Muslim nation) support was 48 percent of the 72 percent who support Sharia. That works out to 34.5 percent of the population as a whole, or about 70 million Muslims.
Sexton also noted that Muslims who support Sharia were asked if they also support the corporal punishment Sharia entails, i.e. whipping and amputating the hands of thieves. In Egypt support was at 70 percent, in Bangladesh at 50 percent and in Indonesia at 45 percent. Those are not majorities, but they are large pluralities equal to tens of millions of people in these countries.
Obama, in another lie, said, "Al Qaeda and ISIL do draw, selectively, from the Islamic texts. They do depend upon the mis-perception around the world that they speak in some fashion for people of the Muslim faith, that Islam is somehow inherently violent, that there is some sort of clash of civilizations."
The Qur'an contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called "hypocrites" and warned that Allah will send them to hell if they do not join the slaughter.
Qur'an (2:191-193): "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing ... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone."
Qur'an (2:216): "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."
Qur'an (8:12): "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore, strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them."
Likewise, with regard to women the Qur'an in Sura 4:24 says slave women are sexual property for their male owners: "And forbidden to you are wedded wives of other people except those who have fallen in your hands [as prisoners of war]." (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 319). See also Suras 4:3; 23:5—6; 33:50; 70:22—30, all of which permit male slave owners to have sex with their female slaves. Suras 23:5—6 and 70:22—230 also allow men to have sex with their slaves.
The lie in the Obama-Clinton narrative about the global jihad movement's alleged "selective" use of religious texts to justify its actions is that sexual slavery, terrorism and everything that goes with them are not inventions of ISIS, or "violent extremists," they are right there in the Qur'an—and in graphic terms that cannot be misunderstood or taken out of context.
As our friend, Clare Lopez, Vice President for Research and Analysis Center for Security Policy and a former operations officer for the CIA, has observed on numerous occasions, we are not fighting a war on "terrorism," we are fighting to live free of the oppression of Sharia and the ideas expressed in the Qur'an.
This war is not just with the radical Islamists of ISIS and Al Qaeda but with concepts deeply embedded in Muslim culture and the Qur'an.
We understand Ambassador Dermer's wish for a future for Muslims that is tolerant and peaceful—it is a view we once shared after traveling extensively in the Islamic world and living among secular Muslims, but it is a dream that is, in our view, fast disappearing. And it is disappearing because the forces of "militant Islam" are not perverting Islam as some have suggested; rather, they are following its tenets to the letter.

Tis The Season For Credit Card Debt: This Christmas Americans Will Spend An Average Of 422 Dollars Per Child - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

christmas-gifts-public-domain

Posted: 19 Dec 2016   Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

For many Americans, the quality of Christmas is determined by the quality of the presents.  This is especially true for our children, and some of them literally spend months anticipating their haul on Christmas morning.  I know that when I was growing up Christmas was all about the presents.  Yes, adults would give lip service to the other elements of Christmas, but all of the other holiday activities could have faded away and it still would have been Christmas as long as presents were under that tree on the morning of December 25th.  Perhaps things are different in your family, but it is undeniable that for our society as a whole gifts are the central feature of the holiday season.

And that is why so many parents feel such immense pressure to spend a tremendous amount of money on gifts for their children each year.  Of course this pressure that they feel is constantly being reinforced by television ads and big Hollywood movies that continuously hammer home what a “good Christmas” should look like.

Once again in 2016, parents will spend far more money than they should because they want to make their children happy.  According to a brand new survey from T. Rowe Price, parents in the United States will spend an average of 422 dollars per child this holiday season…
More than half of parents report they aim to get everything on their kids’ wish lists this year, spending an average of $422 per childaccording to a new survey from T. Rowe Price.
To me, that seems like a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a single child, but this is apparently what people are doing.

But can most families really afford to be spending so wildly?

Of course not.  As I have detailed previously, 69 percent of all Americans have less than $1,000 in savings.  That means that about two-thirds of the country is essentially living paycheck to paycheck.

So all of this reckless spending brings with it a lot of additional financial pressure.  But because we are a “buy now, pay later” society, we do it anyway.  We are willing to mortgage a little bit of the future in order to have a nice Christmas now.

Another new survey has found that close to half the country feels “pressure to spend more than they can afford during the holiday season”
The SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) annual Holiday Financial Confidence survey reveals that 43 percent of Americans feel pressure to spend more than they can afford during the holiday season. Pressure to overspend is up four percent since the survey was first conducted in 2014 by Harris Poll, but down slightly from a high of 46 percent last year.
Ultimately, much of this spending ends up going on credit cards, and credit card debt is one of the most insidious forms of debt.

And the truth is that credit card debt was already surging nationally even before we got to the holiday season
But at least one indicator suggests that much of the US is actually struggling financially: Americans are piling on credit card debt at record levels that we haven’t seen since the financial crisis.
Households added $21.9 billion in credit card debt in the third quarter — the largest increase for that period since 2007 — bringing the amount of outstanding credit card debt to $927.1 billion, according to the latest study from WalletHub.
Debt takes future consumption and brings it into the present, but there is a price to be paid for doing that.

Because we have to pay interest on that debt, we always have to pay back more money than we originally borrowed.  And because interest rates on credit cards are so high, paying back credit card debt can be particularly painful.

According to Business Insider, the average American household currently owes nearly $8,000 to the credit card companies, and it is being suggested that this is a sign that the economy is much weaker than we have been led to believe…
The fact that the average household with debt now owes $7,941 to credit card companies, according to WalletHub, suggests that America’s putative economic strength might be a mirage — that the economy may in fact be a lot weaker than all the happy indicators are leading people to believe.
“I think it is a cause of concern because it says consumers are struggling despite the low unemployment figures,” says Lucia Dunn, an economics professor at Ohio State University. “I think the rise in debt arises from weakness in the economy. People whose incomes have dropped may be trying to maintain an older level of consumption by just charging everything.”
And guess what?

The Federal Reserve just raised interest rates, and so that means that paying off credit card debt will be even more painful for Americans in 2017 than it was in 2016.

Could it be possible that we have lost our way?

Could it be possible that we need to entirely rethink our approach to “the holiday season”?

According to an old NBC News story, one survey discovered that 45 percent of all Americans would prefer to skip Christmas altogether because of all the financial pressure…
Some 45 percent of those polled said the holiday season brings so much financial pressure, they would prefer to skip it altogether. Almost half said their level of stress related to holiday expenses is high or extremely high.
That’s probably because nearly the same amount — some 45 percent — say they do not expect to have enough money set aside to cover holiday expenses.
As a society, we need to learn that things will never make us happy.

Life is not about accumulating toys.  Rather, we were created to love and to be loved.
If you want to live a great life, learn how to be a person of great love.  Unfortunately, most people never seem to learn that lesson.

A couple of months ago, I reported that the total amount of household debt in the United States had reached a grand total of 12.3 trillion dollars.

If you break that number down, it comes to approximately $38,557 for every man, woman and child in the entire country.

In addition to that, we must also remember that corporate debt has approximately doubled while Barack Obama has been in the White House, state and local government debt is completely out of control, and the U.S. national debt is now sitting just under 20 trillion dollars.

Our greed is absolutely killing us, but we can’t stop.

So we will continue to party until eventually somebody comes along and turns out the lights.

Why Donald Trump Is Catching Hell for Planning to Move Our Embassy to Jerusalem

MICHAEL BROWN  CHARISMA NEWS
In the Line of Fire, by Michael Brown
There is no controversy like the controversy that surrounds the city of Jerusalem, the most divided city on the earth and the most coveted city on the earth. The Bible predicted this more than 2,500 years ago, describing the day when Jerusalem would be a "a cup that brings dizziness to all the surrounding nations" (Zech. 12:2, NET), even declaring that one day, the whole would be in uproar over Jerusalem.
Stop and think about it for a moment.
Why does the whole world get so exercised over Jerusalem? Is there any other city on the planet that evokes such intense emotions and polar views?
And why does every nation put its embassies in the city that the host country identifies as its capital, except for the city of Jerusalem, identified as Israel's capital in 1950? Why do virtually all embassies remain in Tel Aviv?
There is something of spiritual significance to this ancient city that simply cannot be denied.
The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, "passed by overwhelming bipartisan majority in both the House and Senate," states that "Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel and the United States Embassy in Israel should be established in Jerusalem no later than May 31, 1999."
Then why didn't presidents Bush or Obama move the embassy? As explained by Rabbi Shraga Simmons, "since the congressional act allows the president to implement a waiver at six-month intervals, that's exactly what has happened every six months since 1995."
Now that Donald Trump has insisted that he will, in fact, relocate our embassy—in accordance with the 1995 act—the controversy is hitting the fan. In the words of Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, imam of the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, moving the embassy would be as good as a "declaration of war."
Consider the opposition to Trump's appointee for Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, a strong supporter of Israel who speaks of our embassy's imminent relocation. As he said openly and proudly after his nomination, "I intend to work tirelessly to strengthen the unbreakable bond between our two countries and advance the cause of peace within the region, and look forward to doing this from the U.S. embassy in Israel's eternal capital, Jerusalem."
According to a December 16 email from Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, known as "America's rabbi," Friedman is a "brilliant choice for ambassador to Israel. One of America's most respected and accomplished attorneys, David is regarded in the highest esteem by the New York Jewish community as an exemplar of the American and Jewish virtues of education, erudition, philanthropy, and communal commitment."
He continued, "David has vast exposure to, and knowledge of, the Jewish state and its history and enjoys the confidence and respect of Israel's leaders. A man of humility and openness, he has a gift for listening, showing respect and deference to all whom he meets."
In sharp contrast, as noted on the Elder of Ziyon website, last Friday's New York Times "had four articles against Donald Trump's choice to be the US ambassador to Israel.
"Yes—four articles in one day. Two 'news' articles, one editorial and one op-ed."
As Noah Pollack reported on The Washington Free Beacon, "The NYT Is Having a Meltdown Over Trump's Israel Nominee."
Pollack writes, "David Friedman is a prominent and successful attorney in New York who has spent 20 years representing Donald Trump, among other clients. He is also a proud Jew who holds unapologetic pro-Israel views that are heretical in Times-world, and he has also expressed acid disdain for the kind of Jewish anti-Israel activism regularly glorified in the pages of the Times.
"So he must be destroyed—and to destroy him he must be lied about. Which is what the Times did."
Pollack does not specifically mention Friedman's strong support for relocating our embassy, since there are other, controversial pro-Israel positions that Friedman supports, including the building of settlements in territories under Palestinian control and skepticism about a two-state solution. But you can be assured that a big part of the ruckus over Friedman's appointment is his affirmation that the American embassy will be moved.
That's why a headline on the Independent discussing Friedman's nomination focused on this issue alone, noting that, "Moving U.S. embassy to Jerusalem would be 'declaration of war'."
And that's why New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman stated to Chris Cuomo on CNN that "moving the American embassy—and this is an evergreen, everyone running for president tosses this out, no one actually does it—moving the embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, in the absence of an agreed-upon solution between Israelis and Palestinians, I would call that the 'Full Employment for Iran Act.'"
Yes, according to Friedman, it would also alienate the Sunni Arab regimes, meaning this move would provoke the Shiite Muslims in Iran and the Sunni Muslims in countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Jerusalem, the city of controversy indeed.
Thomas Friedman then reiterated to Cuomo and co-host Alisyn Camerota: "This is such madness that it's—it's just—I can't believe we're talking about it."
Yet Kellyanne Conway, Trump's senior adviser, has reiterated that the incoming president really does plan to make this move, calling it a "big priority" for him. And how revealing that Thomas Friedman noted that "everyone running for President tosses this out" but "no one actually does it," whereas Trump is threatening actually to do it. This is the very reason many people voted for him: They expect him to be a doer, not just a talker.
Should President Trump succeed in relocating our embassy to Jerusalem, I predict three things: 1. All hell will break loose against him (expect it in the most shrill tones), with constant, worldwide controversy over the move); 2. God will bless our president for doing it and 3. God will bless America for doing it.
There's just something about Jerusalem. Watch and see. (And to think that as recently as last month, an article in The Washingon Post claimed that, "Anti-Semitism is no longer an undertone of Trump's campaign. It's the melody." The irony is exquisite.)

BREAKING NEWS: Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey assassinated by Radical Islamic terrorist seeking “revenge” for Russia’s actions in Aleppo.

by joelcrosenberg
The Russian Ambassador to Turkey was just assassinated in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.
The assailant was a Radical Muslim who shouted "Allah Akbar!" and said he was doing this as "revenge" for Russia's military actions in Aleppo.
He reportedly fired 15 to 20 shots -- killing the Ambassador and wounding at least three others -- before being shot and killed by policy. The attack occurred at an art exhibit.
Turkish President Recip Erdogan quickly called Russian President Vladimir Putin after being briefed on the situation.
Developing....
