The Great Deception March on Gaza’s Border - Noah Beck Israel Today

The Great Deception March on Gaza’s Border

Thursday, May 03, 2018 |  Noah Beck  Israel Today
What would the US do if 30,000 Mexicans, organized by a known terrorist group, marched towards the Texas border, demanding to return to their ancestors’ homes, with many of the protesters throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails, carrying fence cutters, launching burning kites that set ablaze US territory near the border, igniting tires, and even shooting guns at US agents across the border?
If the US used force to protect its border against such a “peaceful protest,” what percent of the 30,000 Mexicans would end up dead or injured? Would it be more or less than 40 (about .13%)? And how would the global media and human rights organizations cover these incidents?
Now consider the reaction to Israel’s defense against precisely this kind of assault on its sovereign border, dubbed the “Great Return March” and organized by Hamas, a US-State-Department-designated-terrorist organization. Hamas has acknowledged that at least five of its members were among those killed in the march. The number of terrorists involved in the related violence is likely much higher. According to the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, “32 of the 40 Palestinians killed (80%) were terrorist operatives or individuals affiliated with them.”
If the “Great Return March” had any truth to it, the Hamas-organized propaganda offensive would have been called the “Great Deception March” because it is entirely founded upon deception. Incredibly, on April 6, an advisor to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of the Palestinian Authority (PA), actually highlighted the deceptive nature of the march, accusing Hamas of “only selling illusions, trading in suffering and blood.” Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Abbas’ Advisor on Islamic Affairs and Supreme Sharia Judge, delivered a sermon, broadcast on official PA TV, in the presence of Abbas, in which Al-Habbash accused Hamas of intentionally sending Palestinians in Gaza to “go and die,” only so that Hamas has stories of dead Palestinians for “the TV and media.”
Hamas has a long history of using human shields to maximize Gazan casualties and thereby smear Israel’s image. As each of the last three Gaza-Israel wars has shown, the more Gazan victims Hamas can produce, the more easily Israel can be tarnished by the media and its consumers. Such demonization supports the broader goal of delegitimizing Israel legally, with lawfare attacks in international forums, and economically, with boycotts, divestments, and sanctions (BDS).
Hamas knows that most observers will simply focus on images of injured and killed Gazans, rather than blame Hamas for sending children towards a militarized border. Obviously, there would be no risk of provoking any forceful reaction from Israel’s military if the protests were peacefully held at a distance of at least 500 meters from the border. But instead, the protestors actively tried to damage the border fence itself, while threatening Israelis on the other side of it. Were they expecting hugs and flowers in response?
But the biggest deception of all behind the so-called “Great Return March” is deceiving the Palestinians themselves into thinking that they have any hope of “returning” to any homes or territory in present-day Israel that their ancestors might have occupied before 1948. Have Israeli Jews ever demanded a “return” to the millions of homes their ancestors lost in Europe, during the Holocaust, or in the Arab and Muslim world, from which roughly a million persecuted Jews were displaced between the 1940s and the 1970s? Instead, the Jews accepted the cruelty of history and focused their energies on building a vibrant state in the tiny sliver of land they were given the chance to develop in 1948.
By contrast, when Gazans received a historic opportunity, after Israel’s 2005 unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, to prove that they can engage in responsible and peaceful state-building, they opted to turn Gaza into a Somalia rather than a Singapore. Instead of choosing coexistence and cooperation, Hamas has promoted a culture of anti-Israel hatred, while diverting Gaza’s resources to terrorist rockets and attack tunnels, even after launching and losing three wars against Israel in the span of seven years (2008, 2012, and 2014).
Poor governance has consequences, as Gazans have painfully learned from a shortage of jobs, electricity, sanitation and other basic goods that Hamas has consistently failed to deliver.
Yet global reaction to the Gaza border “protests” shows just how much the Great Deception March succeeded in deceiving so many, who end up blaming Israel while ignoring Hamas’ primary role in the violence and, more generally, giving Hamas a pass on its cruelty, corruption, and disastrous policies.
The human rights organization Amnesty International recently called for an arms embargo against Israel, arguing that Israel has been “killing and wounding of civilians demonstrating in Gaza by the Israeli forces, despite the fact that they don’t pose any immediate threat.”
If even Palestinian leaders see through the Hamas ruse, why do Amnesty, the UNthe NY Times, Bernie Sanders, and so many others have such a hard time understanding what's really going on?
Their reactions show no regard for history or context, and demonstrate how little Israelis can rely on the assurances of those pressuring them to make concessions to Israel’s sworn enemies.
Why is there no comparable outrage for Turkey's recent actions in Afrin, for example, where far more have died (500 civilians) and at least 150,000 have been displaced. Maybe because Palestinians somehow deserve a unique level of sympathy?
Maybe because, for example, the New York Times devoted almost four times as much coverage to Gaza than to Yarmouk. Comparing the Times’ coverage of the two conflict zones from April 17 (when fighting in Yarmouk began) through April 30, the results are striking:
-Yarmouk is covered by 22 articles with zero op-eds
-Gaza is covered by 81 articles, including at least three op-eds.
To put that distorted Times’ emphasis into perspective, nearly 4,000 Palestinians in Syria have been killed since 2011 – about double the number of Gazans, including terrorists, killed in all conflicts with Israel during the same period. Such figures, coupled with the Times’ well documented and extensive bias against Israel, suggest that the disproportionate coverage is driven more by an anti-Israel animus than any compassion for Palestinian suffering.
It has been an article of faith among European and US “progressives” that Israel’s conflict with the Palestinians would be resolved if, and only if, Israel withdraws from territory that it conquered in 1967, after surrounding Arab armies threatened to annihilate the NJ-sized country. In 2005, to test that idea and hopefully promote better relations with Gazans, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza Strip.
Israelis on the right argued that such a move would be perceived as a surrender out of weakness, and the power vacuum created by the Disengagement, as Israel’s 2005 Gaza withdrawal was called, would be quickly filled by extremists who exploit their newfound freedom to attack Israel.
Israelis on the left claimed that taking a big risk to promote better relations, and eventually peace, with Gaza would strengthen Israel’s international standing. Those supporting the Disengagement also argued that it would bring Israel global support if ever the Israeli army was forced to defend its border with the Gaza territory that it evacuated.
The Great Deception March shows just how much the right was right.

The Power Point Heard 'Round the World' - CBN News Chris Mitchell

The Power Point Heard 'Round the World'
05-01-2018
CBN News Chris Mitchell
The announcement was stunning. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented evidence
he claimed came from the very heart of Iran’s decades-long covert nuclear program.

It was a power point presentation heard round the world and especially in the White House with
its number one audience, President Donald Trump.

First of all, the evidence the prime minister presented was a treasure trove of intelligence captured
from the heart of a neighborhood in Tehran. He dramatically unveiled files – both paper and digital
 – from Iran’s secret nuclear program. If true, it represents one of the intelligence coups of the
century. How could the Mossad – Israel’s CIA – find and remove thousands of the most sensitive
and incriminating files from Iran’s nuclear program? It wouldn’t be the first time the Mossad has
of espionage. This operation will likely rank up near the top of their achievements.

Netanyahu has spent a great deal of his adult life warning the world about the dangers of a nuclear
Iran many times on the world stage at the UN. He has used simple but memorable props like a poster
with a cartoon-looking bomb to illustrate how close Iran is to getting a nuclear bomb. Many believe
he’s a master of political theater on the global stage.

His revelations come while a high stakes debate is going on with President Trump at the heart of
the discussion. Last week French President Emmanuel Macron lobbied the President not to
abandon the nuclear deal. German Chancellor Angela Merkel followed days later with her
own arguments.

But Netanyahu has presented to the world powerful and some would argue overwhelming evidence
that Iran has lied throughout its entire negotiations with the P5+1, the nations and organizations
that crafted the JCOPA, the nuclear deal with Iran.

One wonders how former Secretary of State John Kerry who negotiated the deal on behalf of the
U.S. will react as well as former President Barack Obama who declared victory when he announced
the deal.

Iran’s reaction was predictable.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted: “The boy (Netanyahu) who can't stop crying wolf is at
it again. Undeterred by cartoon fiasco at UNGA (United Nations General Assembly). You can only
fool some of the people so many times.”

Israel’s Former Ambassador to the US Danny Ayalon tweeted this rebuttal:

“The wolf in sheep's clothing is secretly seeking nuclear weapons, imprisoning Christian journalists,
and helping Bashar al-Assad to gas thousands of innocent children to death.”

We can expect U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley to address this evidence in the
UN Security Council.

It’s clear there’s been close cooperation with the United States during the prelude to Netanyahu’s
announcement. Last week Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman visited U.S. Secretary of
Defense General Mattis. On Sunday, newly appointed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with
Netanyahu here in Jerusalem. Their joint press statement focused nearly entirely on Iran. During
his presentation, Netanyahu said they had shared all of this intelligence with the U.S., which
had verified it.

Israel just announced that Netanyahu spoke with France’s Macron and Germany’s Merkel before
the announcement. He agreed to send professional teams to share the materials exposing Iran’s
nuclear program.

Now the countdown begins to May 12th, the day President Trump decides whether he will certify
or decertify the Iranian nuclear deal. It’s a decision that may determine not just the future of what
he has called “the worst deal ever” but the future of the Middle East and the world.

Archaeologists Uncover Ruins of Ancient Christian Hideout Under Town Formerly Held by ISIS

The ancient ruins of a Christian refuge or early church dating as far back as the first centuries of the Roman Empire were recently discovered in Manbij, Syria. The area, which was formerly under ISIS control, managed to escape the attention of the terror group known for destroying churches and other Christian artifacts of the regions they conquer.
ISIS invaded Manbij in 2014. During this time, Abdulwahab Sheko, head of the Exploration Committee at the Ruins Council in Manbij, was studying the area. In an interview with Fox News, Sheko noted that the site was lucky to have escaped the group's attention. He kept quiet about the ruins until 2016, when ISIS was driven out by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
During their two-year occupation of the area, ISIS forces failed to notice the tip of an old gate on an empty mound of land where they dumped garbage. But Sheko explained that the gate, which ran several feet into the ground down, leads straight to the old Christian ruins.

Truly living out one's faith can be deeply transformational. That reality was affirmed for actress Masey McLain after she portrayed Columbine High School shooting victim Rachel Joy Scott in the Pure Flix film "I'm Not Ashamed" —a movie that recounts Scott's life, faith and ministry to others before her tragic and untimely death in 1999.
"She was just a 17-year-old girl in the middle of Colorado. She wasn't famous; she didn't have a platform," McLain said of Scott during a recent appearance on PureFlix.com's "Pure Talk." "She really took the word of God seriously and became the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around her. She impacted so many people's lives just because of her faithfulness."
One of the most intriguing parts of Scott's story were the journals she left behind—pages filled with images and commentary about her life that indicated she had a premonition that she would die young.
Watch McLain speak about Rachel's incredible story—and her journals—in the video.
On May 2, 1998, less than one year before her death, Scott wrote that it would be her last year on Earth and told God that she had received what she could from this world.
Perhaps most captivating was an image that she drew of two eyes crying 13 tears onto a flower. Scott reportedly drew that image right before two gunmen killed her and 12 others inside Columbine.
McLain found all of these elements both fascinating and moving, and revealed that she was deeply moved after reading Scott's journals.
"It was a surreal experience reading her journals. I just cried the whole time, honestly," she said. "One of the most eerie and shocking things, looking at her journals—she almost knew that she was going to die."
McLain said she was initially nervous about playing the role of Scott, a beloved person whose intense faith and trust in God continue to inspire people across the world.
"[I] was just completely [humbled] and honored to be able to step into her shoes," McLain said. "I didn't want to be the one to mess it up ... not do her justice."
In the end, though, McLain said that she had a wonderful director (Brian Baugh) and film team who supported her throughout the production process. Plus, Scott's mother, Beth Nimmo, called McLain before shooting began to encourage her to go in with confidence.
"I had an incredible director and ... team that just always said that they believed that God had called me to this," she said, adding that she relied on God to help her portray Scott with accuracy. "I didn't know Rachel, but I knew God did."
McLain said that she continues to receive messages on social media from scores of people who continue to be impacted by Scott's story.
Watch Rachel's story come to life in the movie I'm Not Ashamed.

'It's Just the Hand of God': Evangelical Leaders Say Trump's Embassy Move Is Prophetic - CHRIS MITCHELL CBN NEWS

MIchele Bachmann (Jim Bakker Show/YouTube)
This week, three prominent U.S. evangelical leaders visiting Israel told CBN News the decision by President Donald Trump to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is both historic and prophetic.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, brought a group of 200 supporters to Israel. Joining him on his tour was retired Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin and former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Perkins told CBN News that by moving the U.S. Embassy, America is coming into line with the Bible.
"We're finally doing what we said we were going to do a quarter of a century ago, and that is to move our embassy to Jerusalem. And then on another level is, I think America is coming into alignment with biblical truth. I mean this is, it doesn't matter what the United States says—this is the capital, Jerusalem. It was bought and paid for. David declared it to be the capital of Israel, and so I think we're just coming into line and alignment with biblical truth," Boykin said.
Bachmann sees the move as a blessing to the United States.
"For the United States, what President Trump has done is put our country in a pathway of blessing because we are acting in conformity with Genesis 12:3: 'Those who bless Israel will be blessed; those who curse Israel will be cursed,' " she explained.
"We have blessed Israel as the United States of America because President Trump has recognized the legitimacy of the Jewish people to the Jewish land and the right to have Jerusalem as their capital," she continued. "All we are doing is agreeing with what God Himself said 3,000 years ago—that Jerusalem is the capital."
Boykin, who helped found the Delta Force, reflected on how Israel has grown and prospered as it celebrated its 70th anniversary on April 19 (on the Jewish calendar). He also revealed that Israel celebrated its birthday on his own.
"I'm the only one you're going to interview here that is going to say this to you. I was born on the 19th of April, 1948. That is very special. And that is very special because my mother always felt that I was born in 1948 and it had some spiritual significance," Boykin said.
"And if you talk to people like Anne Graham Lotz, who was born in May of '48, she feels the same way," he added. "So us Baby Boomers who were born in '48, especially in that April/May timeframe, we think there's something very prophetic about our birth dates."
As a military man, Boykin analyzed how a tiny nation birthed in 1948 could grow up to become a regional and world powerhouse.

"It's a miracle. No question about it. It's a miracle," he said. "Look, I'm a soldier. I've spent a lot of time here. I've spent a lot of time here with the IDF [Israel Defense Forces}. From the very beginning, they've been at war. They've had to fight five to seven neighbors at one time. They're in a daily battle for survival just to prevent terrorist attacks and so forth."
"And there's no way they could have won those wars. They were outnumbered, grossly outnumbered," he noted. "There's no way they could have won those wars.
"So how do you explain that Israel is now 70 years old, that Israel is thriving, that tourism is growing, that this country is now being recognized even by its former enemies as being a powerful force and one they actually want to have an association with?" he asked. "How do you explain that?"
"It's just the hand of God," Boykins concluded. "This is God's chosen land as well as God's chosen people."
