We love our friends at Christian Friends of Israel-Jerusalem

Jan. 8, 2026

After leading the CFI-Jerusalem team in worship one more time (for now) our dear friends at Christian Friends of Israel in Jerusalem prayed for Laurie and I on our last day in the office. Having served for three months, since Oct. 16, 2025, we head back to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Soon you can read all about our volunteer work here in my upcoming book, “Back To Jerusalem” - my 40th book, written during my 30th trip to the promised Land of the Jews.

As Christians, it has been our joy and love to comfort and bless the people, and work along side those who have done so and continue to do day after day.

Jan. 6, 2026 Jerusalem, Israel

Greetings from Jerusalem, the exact place where the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach is returning to.

I stand amazed as I believe in the Lord’s Word that this is the place, this is the city, this is the nation where our Lord and Savior, Jesus the King, is returning to rule and reign. And soon.

We hear the nations in uproar. We see the evil of the enemy trying to eliminate as many as he can before that time.

But as believers, we also know Who has the final say, Who will reign supreme, Who is coming back to bring His peace (shalom) and love (ahava).

Be blessed as you read below what might be my last message from Jerusalem (to complete this three month trip), “Back To Jerusalem”.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin

Jerusalem, Israel

P.S. Happy birthday to my Mom, Lila Martin. Celebrating 91 years on January 7!

Once Laurie and I return to the USA I am most likely only posting my messages on our website Love For His People Ministry

Your email InBox just won’t be as full then, for those who have read them. Thank you!

Back To Jerusalem

“How can we sing a song of Adonai (the Lord) in a foreign land? If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I cease to remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my chief joy.” (Psalm 136:4-6)

Christian Friends of Israel, whom we have had the greatest honor and joy of serving with these past three months here in Jerusalem, Israel, have been blessing the city and people in the Land for over 40 years now. Along with major support from the representatives and supporters in other nations, including our USA National Director Hannele Pardain and the board of the Charlotte, North Carolina based CFI-USA office (Allen and Nan Robertson, Brian and Pat Cockfield) the evidence is seen of their impact in the nation of Israel.

CFI has gained the love and acceptance of many Jews, Arabs and people groups here. And we commend all of CFI worldwide for it!

With the ongoing direction of Tristan and Galya Hall, and continuing strength and vision from co-founder Sharon Sanders, the love of Jesus (Yeshua) is known in the land through their example and love expressed. Jews, Arabs, Druze, and more have seen and received help from this ministry, His care for them, as they have returned to live, and now protect, their promised Land.

With the current volunteer staff from so many nations - Andy and Carla, Leon and Nicolene, Olga, Lyailya, Linel, Venera, Francis, Amanda, Tanya, Paula, Joanna, Tiina and Shasa, Elisabeth, Gert, Julia, Elias and Antoinette, Clint, Donna, Danny and Christian (whom I fondly called “Mejico”) who have come from South Africa, Scotland, USA, Germany, Latvia, Finland, England, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Romania and Mexico, to serve willingly and freely - life has been given out, with the faith, hope and love of Jesus (Yeshua).

Of course, some days have been long and tiring – what service in the Lord’s work with His grace and direction hasn’t been – but what else on this earth can compare to being part of preparing His Bride for His soon coming return to Jerusalem?

From my heart and perspective, I proclaim, “Nothing!”

As the Lord Jesus, my God and my Savior, has spent these last 71 years preparing me for this time here, and beyond, what more can I say but, “Thank You Lord”, as I so often love to sing. (Don Moen, Integrity Music 2004)

Proclaiming Jesus. Loving Yeshua. And passing it on to those Her has sent me to.

Knowing of St. Francis of Assisi, who spoke centuries ago, a believer whom I have admired since my long-ago Catholic days of youth, “Only use words if necessary.” That works.

Believers here in His Land, given to and for His Chosen people, have done just that.

Laurie and I have come then, laying down our lives along with the faithful ones here, even as He has so called each and everyone of us to do.

We long for His Kingdom to come. We long for His will to be done. We long for His love and salvation to be known throughout the world, as it first began here in Jerusalem, then went out to Judea, Samaria, and continuing further to the ends of the earth by those He so equipped to take His love. (Acts 1:8). Giving their lives in exchange for the life He gives has indeed born fruit.

What more can one do unto the One Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life? (John 14:6) Serving Him by serving and comforting His people.

Bo Yeshua! Come Jesus! We look to Your soon coming return. Back to Jerusalem!

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Remained #1 on the Amazon New Releases List for "Jerusalem Travel Guides" for a month. (I love taking people with me to the Land of Israel.)

In several of my previous 38 books, I wrote stories and chapters on Israel and our friends in the Land. Their lives, their courage, and the Ahava Adventures we have had, sharing our time with them in Eretz Yisrael.

In my desire to share these stories with you in a more concise manner, I have chosen the “best ones” and included in my book, “Love For His People – The Land and Friends in Israel”. (Aug. 2025)

Having given 39 years so far (and this being my 39th book!) to loving and supporting the Chosen People, as the Living God of Israel so ordained throughout the Bible of Christians and the Jewish people, it is proper and time to publish.

Sharing this book, containing some of my experiences in Jerusalem and all of Israel, is a joy, and also a promise to always stand with Israel. I know it will stir your heart as He reveals more of His plans for all.

Wrestling With God by Steve Martin from Jerusalem

Wrestling With God

Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of his thigh; so the socket of Jacob’s thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him. Then he said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.” But he said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” So he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” He said, “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:24-28 NASB)

To put these verses in context, one needs to know what exactly Jacob was wrestling with - first in his mind, and in his spirit, which was troubling him greatly. He was wrestling with God over it, trying to get an answer.

It wasn’t just a minor incident that could be decided quickly. It was a major decision, and he just couldn’t find the Lord’s peace in it. He was facing a situation that really bothered him, made him afraid to move on, tremendously fearing the results ahead if he decided the wrong way.

What if he missed it? What if the decision he made turned out wrong? His family would be hurt. Others would be impacted. Results not expected could occur. It was troubling him greatly.

The Lord had to actually come and help him do the right thing. Jacob would never forget it afterwards. His body would be a daily reminder of that, as from above “…the socket of Jacob’s thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him.” Got anything left over from a previous wrestling match?

He and his brother Esau had parted ways years earlier and it was not a pretty sight. Now was the moment of confrontation. What was he to do? Who else would be involved? How could this situation turn out in anyway for the good?

Jacob knew what the Lord had promised him. He knew what he thought and believed was the way to move forward, and yet a major obstacle, his brother, seemed to stand in his way.

Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Lord, who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will prosper you,’ I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant; for with my staff only I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two companies.

Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children. For You said, ‘I will surely prosper you and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.’” (Genesis 32:9-12, NASB)

God had promised to Jacob to prosper him, to increase his life exponentially. And yet his brother now seemed to be standing in the way, preventing it from being fulfilled.

Whether a relationship, a financial situation, some work obstacle that seems to be stopping you from walking the path you fully believe the Lord has been directing you to…there comes those times when we will wrestle with God to know the answer.

One thing we each can be assured of. Our Father has, and will always be, faithful to guide, to direct, to get us to where we need to be, if we stay focused on Him and trust Him as much as we fully can, wherever we are, whatever we are doing, or have been called and ordained to do.

It is not an easy road to walk in faith, to try and hear the Lord, and obey what He has been putting on your heart. I sometimes refer to that old song, “I never promised you a rose garden.” (Singer Lynn Anderson. 1967).

As the Bible stories would have it, following Yeshua (Jesus) will most likely cost you your life as His disciple. And where He leads will always be our choice if we want to continue to follow. Narrow is the way, and few are the ones, who go it.

As I too often need to know His way, I am comforted by the fact that He is my Lord and my God, and His promises for me, and for you, will be fulfilled as we steadfastly pursue Him.

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it.” Psalm 37:3-5

Many times we will wrestle with God as we desperately need an answer. But we will then rest in Him when He finally brings it.

Happy seeking. Happy obeying. Happy following.

The red heifers in Israel. And the Amish/Mennonite man who takes care of them. Exclusive interview.

Dec. 26, 2025. Shiloh, Samaria (not the “West Bank”) Israel

As we started our walking tour, in ancient Shiloh, we were met by a man who seemed to be just leaving. Larry Borntrager, Amish-Mennonite man from Indiana, USA, looked like a farmhand who had just walked out of a barn. At first I paid little attention, having come to see the first tabernacle of the Israelites here in Israel. And having grown up in Iowa, with a few uncles having cattle on their farms, it was no big deal.

Then he started talking about the red heifers…and the excitement rose up within me!

A child of Gittel (Gibeonites) in Shiloh, he said his name was Larry, and the Jews were making provision for him to stay here three months at a time and care for the red heifers brought from the USA.

He spoke of the first time he saw them. “They were caked in manure, being no care had really been given them.” His daily checking of the hay, removing manure from the pens, and general grooming kept him busy.

He had recently showed the cattle to USA Ambassador Mike Huckabee a few weeks ago. The “1000 Pastors Tour” from the USA, also a few weeks ago, saw the video and then through a large window were shown them.

Larry’s said his last name, Borntrager, means “water carrier” in German.

He spoke to us two of his favorite sayings.

“Don’t miss God’s move because He didn’t move it right.” (Meaning, His ways are not our ways.)

“Don’t end up at the bus station when you should have been at the train.”

Lord, thank You for Larry and his care for these special beasts.

Oh yes. The cows names : Guela, Tikva, Tikah, and Nehama.

“Prairie dogs, Lord?” New message by Steve Martin

Dec. 24, 2025 Jerusalem, Israel

Greetings once again from Jerusalem, where Hanukkah has just completed and Christmas carries on.

The Lord speaks in parables. Sometimes He uses numbers to speak to us. Other times symbols or animals. Daniel, John, and other revelatory prophets received pictures and unknown objects by various ways, not totally knowing what the Lord was saying at first.

My message, “Prairie Dogs” is somewhat like that, as I share below.

Merry Christmas from Jerusalem!

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin

Jerusalem, Israel

P.S. Christian Friends of Israel - Jerusalem has done extraordinary works of love over these past 40 years, blessing the Jews, Arabs and others here. Laurie and I have been honored to share in this work of the Lord Yeshua (Jesus).

Prairie Dogs

“Raise your eyes all around and see; They all gather together, they come to you. Your sons will come from afar, and your daughters will be [a]carried on the hip.” (Isaiah 60:4)

On a family trip to South Dakota when I was in my early teens, leaving our home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, we went to the Badlands National Park. Our main goal was to see the roaming big, burly buffalo. But what fascinated me the most, as I can remember, were the prairie dogs.

When the sentries, the ones keeping watch over their kin, popped their heads out of the hole, it was so cute. They stood straight and tall (as much as they could being the size of a squirrel). But these guys were on a mission, doing their assigned job, to watch out for their own.

When I woke up from my sleep in the Jerusalem, Israel apartment we were staying in, “prairie dogs” was on my mind. I wasn’t dreaming, nor had I recently read or heard someone mention them. Just the words, “prairie dogs” in my mind.

“Lord, what are you telling me”, I prayed. “Prairie dogs?”

I sought a little further, and the Holy Spirit seemed to explain that there have been, and more are coming, ones who will be as prairie dogs for the Jewish people in Israel. These ones will be Christians.

Do I understand all what He is saying? No, I do not. But after being here in their Land Israel, supporting them as we have through the work of Christian Friends of Israel, my understanding grows.

I see more Christians coming in fulfillment of the Lord prophetic words.

Christians, “grafted in” ones as the Bible says in Romans 11, will be used by the Lord to be watchmen, to be protectants, to assist the Jews as He brings them back to their promised Land.

I have heard the call. I am taking my place. If the Lord sees me and others as “prairie dogs”, so be it. I want to be the best prairie dog I can.

I pray you too will know and walk in the glorious plans and purposes He has established for you. Be as He desires You to be.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin
