Bill Yount and Andy Sanders: "The Year of The Harp, The Pen, The Paintbrush and Dancing Shoes" - The Elijah List

Bill Yount and Andy Sanders: "The Year of The Harp, The Pen, The Paintbrush and Dancing Shoes"

The Elijah List  Feb 18, 2017

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
There is a vast creative spirit God is releasing in this new season...and many are sensing it.
The arts – writing, music, painting, dancing, the big screen...and much more are going to explode in "worship and praise" unto the Lord. He is putting His works, His anointing, His creative design on display...through YOU!
This word by Bill Yount and Andy Sanders will really bless the variety of artists out there. Bill Yount shares this:
Let me tell you a secret: We are not supposed to fit too tightly in the Body of Christ when it comes to using our gifts and talents. God loves variety! That's why He never gets bored. Dare to be different if you want to see the glory of God in your life, city, and nation this year. Dare to obey the Lord with the unique gifts and ways He wants to use you.
Let this word by Bill and Andy encourage you to display your uniqueness and variety...it's who God is through you! Amen! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)

By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the poplars we hung our harps, for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!" How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land? (Psalm 137:1-4 NIV)
From Bill: When I first started traveling in ministry 20 years ago, I would sing in every meeting. One day, I stopped singing. I was in so many different churches with so many styles of music that the devil (and certain people) made me feel like my music didn't belong. So I stopped. This passion lay dormant for many years, until recently. Within a week, two different people said to me, "Bill, when are you going to sing again?" I thought that was strange. Then I heard God's voice speak to me, "Son, it's not about the style of music – it's the anointing! Take your harp (your guitar and songs) down off the weeping willow tree and start killing the giants in people's lives."
Now, after 15 long years, I have taken my harp (the call to sing) down off the weeping willow tree. God through me has come alive again! I don't know what I sound like to those listening; I just know that it sounds beautiful to God. He missed it for fifteen years.
Someone, Please Tear the Roof off of God's House!
Do what God is calling you to do regardless of what some people may think, and, if need be, tear the roof off of God's house to let His glory in. Someone, please tear the roof off. Tearing a roof off can be risky. Many people will wonder why you are doing it. But we must see God's glory in our lives, cities, and the nations. Without God's glory, we perish. God has spoken and it is time for us to grab our harps (the pens, paintbrushes, and dancing shoes) for the Lord and put them back to action again! God reserved this year for you; He is calling your name. (Photo via Pixabay)
Branches Are Being Blended (and Mended) for the Body of Christ to Be More Compatible.
From Andy: Something interesting about the willow tree is that it has over 400 different species within it worldwide. Weeping willow trees are mainly hybrid trees, cross-compatible when blended within its own species. In simple terms, if you join two they will live and produce. How much more the Body of Christ?
Bill and I will both agree that back-in-the-day several years ago, the Lord joined our hearts in such a supernatural way. I consider him partially responsible for speaking forth my calling to write and publish. More so, as a traveling minister, Bill has helped me walk through the good and bad while learning to serve the Body in the office the Lord has called us both to. He is the one man on earth who has held my hand as a minister going through life.
God never called us to walk alone in life; He has called us to join the root systems of the Kingdom of Heaven. What God has put within you will not be completed by just you alone. It will require roots and branches of the Body of Christ—many people, family, friends, and mentors. He is doing this to foster growth and mature fruit within our lives.
One more thing about the willow tree—I also found out that these trees are known as a "watery tree" because some can carry large amounts of water due to the design of the bark. As we step forward this year and forge pure roots and branches among others, God will water it well. The drought season is ending!
But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (John 4:14 NIV)

God Sees What No One Else Seems to Recognize
Uncertainty is often the feeling one has when they are about to take an unknown step into completely unfamiliar territory. I remember when Bill Yount said to me several years ago, "I want you to write something with me." Thoughts of excitement, failure, and honor flooded my mind all at once. Would my effort be accepted or rejected?
These are normal thoughts that we all face when we gaze upon the enormous size of a willow tree. Uncertainty can foster fear if we let it. The call to write within me at the time was hidden within the shadows of larger branches. All it took was one stronger branch (Bill Yount) to reach down and give me a lift upward.
Some tree roots grow deep underground. Regardless of the depth, the willow tree has very strong roots; God has placed within us strong spiritual roots. What you have been through has fashioned you behind the scenes (underground), yet it has caused you to grow deep, ready for this season now.
The question then becomes, "How do we get up there to the top of that tree in order to lay hold of the gift (writing, music, art, dance, etc.) that no one sees?" Climb! When God made the willow tree He created it with extremely strong roots. The tree that stands before you is strong enough to hold you up. The branches that once hid you will now become the branches that propel and sustain you.
In this next season, many will reach down and pull the hidden ones upward into the brightness of God's Son. Many hidden stepping stones, platforms, and paths (branches) are coming into the light this year. God has sent you a larger branch! He is calling us all to reach down and pull up while others reach down and pull us up.
The Next Generation Is Coming Out of the Shadows This Year.
The weeping willow tree is known for its immense shade. Though the shade can provide a nice breeze and a cool place to rest from the scorching heat, precious things can be hidden within the dark shadows of such a tree. Potentially, the enormity alone can cause other nearby growth to cower. (Photo via Pixabay)
The younger generation will no longer cower under the shadows of the larger trees (older generation). It is time for the larger trees to make room for the next generation of growth; the next seeds have sprouted and are growing strong now. Though no one around you appears to see the talent yet, God is blowing on the tree limbs this year in order to reveal at the right times and places what has been hidden for so long.
From Bill & Andy: As two ministers and writers, we want to say to the next generation, "Forgive us for the peer pressure we put on you to perform like our generation." You are not called to be like our generation, nor attempt to entertain us. You are not performers; you are presence carriers.
You have been fashioned to express God the way you were designed—without religious limitations. The religious systems (weeping willow trees) that have cast dark shadows over some of you are being chopped down and burned this year! Let God lead your life and be who the King is calling you to be. Dare to be different and do things God's way and rend the heavens this year.
We cut the strings of restraint off of you in Jesus' Name, and we bless you with an earthly father's blessing. In Jesus' Name, we break the peer pressure off of the Body of Christ right now that has intimidated many to live under the weeping willow tree. I hear the Father saying, "From this day will I bless you."
This is the year of the Harp, the Pen, the Paintbrush, and Dancing Shoes. Take them down off the weeping willow tree and shake the Hell out of the earth. It is time to reach out and grab the gift (harp), bringing it back down from the weeping willow tree and into your arms again. Your talents are coming alive. We are sitting at the edge of our seats for what's coming out of the shadows of the weeping willow tree this year.
"Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy" (Psalm 33:3 NIV.). (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)

Bill Yount has been a member of Bridge of Life in Hagerstown, Maryland, for the past 36 years where he is now an elder and a home missionary. He is currently an advisor at large for Aglow International. Bill faithfully served in prison ministry at Mount Hope for 23 years and now travels full-time, both in the U.S. and internationally, ministering in churches and Aglow circles. "Humility and humor" characterize his ministry as he brings forth a fresh word that is "in season," proclaiming the Word of the Lord! The shofar (or ram's horn) is often used in his meetings, breaking the powers of darkness over regions, churches, and households. The shofar represents God's breath blowing into the nostrils of His people, reviving them and awakening the lost. Many of God's messages, which Bill ministers prophetically, come out of his everyday life with his family and friends.

Andy Sanders: "2016: My Kingdom Come, My Courts Be Done!" - THE ELIJAH LIST

Andy Sanders: "2016: My Kingdom Come, My Courts Be Done!"

THE ELIJAH LIST
Jan 17, 2016
Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
We've all been through trying times...and it's often human nature to rely on your own strength and skill...but in those times God is Faithful to set us straight as we learn to lean on Him above all!
I appreciate Andy Sanders taking the time to write this real and raw word about the season he walked through in his own strength and capability...you'll glean from it! These times don't have to be futile if we learn the lessons the Lord gives us through them, as Andy shares in his word.
I'll leave you with this encouraging word of the Lord from Andy:
I hear the Lord say: "I AM your Redeemer and Endless Source. Like limitless trains filled with precious cargo, I will release supply channels of blessing into your lives. Place your burdens on Me. I will break off the yokes of debt, the bondage of doubt, and will restore the fortunes of the widow's mite (those who gave out of sacrifice). I have not given up on you; don't give up on yourself."

HR

At the beginning of 2015 I set out ready to conquer the world through a deep passion that I've worked in for many years – called publishing. By February, bizarre disappointments piled up fast. By the time fall came, I was exhausted and ready to pull my hair out (what's left of it).
Just recently, however, my perspective was transformed. God gave me a divine "sneak peek" back at myself in February. I was staring at myself from God's perspective – His lenses on my eyes. It was as if God came down and made an appointment with me, like when an earthly father speaks to his child.
My biological father would sit down with me from time to time and reveal some areas of my life from his perspective, allowing the true motive of my heart to be exposed, then mended. Now I was standing with my heavenly Father as He revealed the past year of my life. My jaw dropped! I understood why this year felt so much like an uphill climb. (Photo via Pixabay)
Being transparent with you, even to my embarrassment, here are three truths God showed me:
1. I Was Building an Empire With My Own Strength.
I have published for a long time and have seen great successes and failures. In 2015, I was ready to go to the next level. Looking back, I knew how to work the system with or without the Lord. Sometimes we can become so good at what we do that we can ignore simple leadings of the Holy Spirit's work within us. We become accustomed to working out of instinct rather than by the Spirit.
2. I Wasn't Putting the Lord First in Every Aspect of My Life.
I was seeking the Lord on my schedule, when it was easy and comfortable, but I wasn't pursuing His presence the way He has asked of us – to give His goals for our day precedence over ours and have His guidance in every aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, the Lord was getting the crumbs of my time instead of the main course of my life.
We can become so good at what we do that we can start to operate in more of a humanistic (self-sustaining) spirit and not in the Spirit's planning. Re-learn how to walk with Him by the minute and the hour, not just the weeks ahead. (Photo via Pixabay)
But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 NIV
"There are some who are filling their schedules up with distractions. They are time-wasters. My love for you isn't confined to natural dimensions. Walk with Me, be with Me."
We are human beings, called to "be," rather than "do." Don't adopt the trap of doing rather than being. Be with Him in every aspect of your lives.
We can get so good at planning ahead that we forget to look down to see His feet right with us, walking every step of the way. I hear God saying: "It's My year to walk with you, and through this you will shape My Kingdom. A Kingdom-seeking army will rise; a remnant of people will march forth."
3. I Had to Be Knocked Off My High Horse.
When I looked back at 2015, I felt embarrassed. I saw myself on a "high horse," building my empire with my strength. I realized why so many turns took place in 2015. I was blaming God for all the troubling things that had happened! The thought that God was responsible for my mess was tucked deep within my heart, festering like a faulty time bomb. I wanted God to bless my self-seeking motives, and God wasn't going to do it, because He won't allow us to settle for the insufficient supply of our own efforts.
I have not given up on you; don't give up on yourself." (Photo via Pixabay)
...I [will] restore your fortunes before your very eyes. Zephaniah 3:20 NIV
The Lord stretched your life to prepare you for what's most important in 2016 (see Isaiah 54). Sovereign sustainability and Kingdom substance will increase greatly. I see restoration blueprints falling down through Heaven. These are God's strategies to empower us!

MY Kingdom Come
"...The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire." When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of Heaven. Then I said: "Lord, the God of Heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with those who love Him and keep His commandments..." Nehemiah 1:3-5 NIV
One of the first things Nehemiah did when he got the news about Jerusalem was to pray, seeking God for days (verse 4). Nehemiah knew his life would change with that news – his hometown was destroyed. He buried his face in front of God before he took a single step toward home.
"I desire to teach you how to walk with Me all over again. When I slow down, you want to walk faster. I want to be with you. Do you lead, or am I leading you? My steps are yours. Your feet are in My footprints. We are one – where I go, you go."
(Photo via Pixabay)
I Am Your Power
...The king said to me, "What is it you want?" Then I prayed to the God of Heaven, and I answered the king, "If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it." Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, "How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?" It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time. Nehemiah 2:2-6 NIV
Don't go to your assignments without God's blessing. We get the news, vision, or prophetic word and jump into the assignment without receiving His commission.
Passion isn't permission – presence is.
Moving without presence creates spiritual prematurity over your calling. We are sometimes thinking a five-year plan when God was thinking a twenty-year plan. The Kingdom doesn't fit into microwave Christianity. It's like building a house without blueprints.
"...May I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?" And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests... Nehemiah 2:7-9 NIV
Timing activates protection and provision!
My Courts Be Done
What is His Kingdom will last! Value what is treasured in God's heart. By humbling ourselves, we gain the King's agenda for 2016. This establishes true Kingdom authority, granted by His heavenly courts. Nehemiah had everything needed from the king to get the Lord's work done.
When written by the king's hand, we have access to the Lord's high courts. In 2016, the battles that take place in the high courts of our nations will be won in the high courts of Heaven. (Photo via Pixabay)
"You have access to win wars in My heavens – the courtroom of decisions. What is won in Heaven is won on earth. The many battles America will face in 2016 is the battle of the courts."
Do not underestimate the power of worship in 2016. Worship matters for God-encounters.
