DAVID JEREMIAH: Do We Trust This More Than We Trust God? CBN News
COMMENTARY  May 19, 2019
When our family moved from Indiana to San Diego, California, several decades ago, navigating on that road trip was a two-person affair: one driver and one navigator in the passenger seat. The navigator had a large paper roadmap unfolded, resting on the dashboard, from which directions were called out to the driver. Remember those days?
How things have changed! Today, one person can drive coast to coast or border to border with nothing but a smartphone or a car's built-in navigation system. It's all due to the government-run technology known as GPS—a few dozen satellites circling the earth sending out radio signals. GPS can tell us where we are within a few feet of our actual location and our phone's computer can create a path to our destination. Brilliant!
Here's the thing about GPS: We don't have to know how to get to where we're going. We set out in our car and just follow the directions we're given. In spite of the rare misdirection, we have come to trust GPS implicitly to direct us. Our job is to begin; the GPS' job is to get us where we'd like to go. We are free to enjoy the trip and not worry about the directions.
Can you guess where I'm headed with this analogy? Why are we so willing to trust an imperfect, man-made technology to guide our steps when we don't always put that same kind of faith in God? I know what you'll say: GPS gives us specific, moment-by-moment steps to take us to our destination. You're right—God doesn't audibly speak to us that way. But we still have biblical reasons to believe that He knows exactly where we are and the directions we need to get where He wants us to go.
Be honest: Which makes you more nervous? Leaving on a five-hundred-mile road trip with only your phone to guide you, or trusting God with a major life event (or crisis) you are facing? Most of us are pretty good at trusting God, but we need to move from good to great when it comes to living by faith.
I have a friend who, when his five children were small, would always lead a time of family prayer in the car before backing out of the driveway—prayers for safety, for "happy hearts," for good driving weather. Your family has probably done the same thing. When his children were teens, one of his sons was leaving on a trip with a friend, and the son prayed for their trip before leaving. The friend was amazed: "You pray about trips?" My friend's son answered, "Sure—we always did when I was growing up."
And why not? Isn't God interested in every aspect of our life—our daily bread, the hairs on our head, the steps we take? Of course, He is! When we stop to pray, it's an act of faith, an act of trust. We are to live every moment of our life by faith, which is why Paul writes, "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). That's simply another way of saying, "Trust God with everything. Keep God involved in every dimension of your life."
The apostle James gives us an illustration of how not to do that—by living a life of faith in human reasoning instead of faith in God. In his example, some men made plans to go to another city and start a business and make a profit—without involving God. James said, "Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that'" (see James 4:13-17). In other words, involve God in your business (and vacations and neighborhood and children's activities and hobbies and healthcare and finances—in everything!) as well as in your spiritual life because all of life with God is spiritual.
What does Proverbs 3:5-6 say? Trust in God; don't depend on your own understanding; involve Him in all your ways and He will direct your path. That's what it means to live a life of faith. Even when the way looks fuzzy and unclear? Yes. Because, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
How would your life be different if you lived a life of great faith instead of average faith? There's one way to find out.

David Jeremiah: It's Time to Prophesy Over Your Problems

JESSILYN JUSTICE  CHARISMA NEWS
Spiritual warfare isn't just a metaphorical concept believers pretend to imagine. It's a very real war raging in the unseen spirit realm. "Turning Point" radio host David Jeremiah spoke openly with Charisma about spiritual warfare and his new book, Overcomer.
Charisma: Why is the armor of God more than a metaphor?
David Jeremiah: The armor of God is essentially eight strategies for being prepared in the fight against the evil one and for overcoming in His name. In the armor illustration, we're actually given practical instructions on how to protect our mind and our heart, reminders to stand firm on the truth and never compromise, reminders to be aware of the deception and lies of the devil and a reminder to turn to God's Word in times of doubt and uncertainty.

David Jeremiah: Many Christians are living in the midst of a raging spiritual battle they may or may not know is taking place around them. We're told very clearly in Ephesians that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but rather against spiritual forces. I think sometimes Christians forget this. We get caught up in the physical and ignore the underlying spiritual battle that needs to be fought first and foremost.
As children of God though, I don't believe these spiritual attacks need to leave Christians defeated, discouraged or disillusioned. Instead, followers of Christ need to seek out greater connection to the Holy Spirit living inside of them, to tap into God's strength and power to overcome life's many obstacles.
Charisma: What do we not realize about the spiritual battles raging today?
David Jeremiah: From a spiritual perspective, an important distinction is that as Christians we are not fighting for victory, but from victory. How comforting is that? This is an important paradigm shift that will change everything if followers of Christ will grab ahold of this truth. Throughout Scripture, we're called to be strong, and that means standing in the victory that's already been won. As we look back, we rest in Christ's victory over sin, Satan and death. As we look forward, we face the future, knowing God will always lead us in victory.
Charisma: How can we prepare ourselves for spiritual battle?
David Jeremiah: I've noticed something interesting, looking back on the story of David and Goliath. Notice the terms in the Bible describing Goliath are all physical: his massive size, the sight of him twice a day for weeks on end taunting the Israelites and the shout of his booming voice. But the terms used to describe David are all spiritual: his conviction, his courage and his confidence in the Lord. Going further, we read that David never asks about the weight of Goliath's spear or the size of his shield. But he does reference the Lord's strength nine times throughout the story.
David never lets himself get consumed with the physical aspect of the task at hand. He's laser-focused on the supernatural power God has promised. So we need to take a page from David's playbook. When we're overburdened, oftentimes, the solution is to get our eyes off of the physical and readjust to the spiritual.
Charisma: How can we press in to victory when it seems like all hope is lost?
David Jeremiah: It's all right to talk to God about your problems, but sometimes you need to talk to your problems about God. Preach the goodness of God to them. Prophesy the promises of God to them. Proclaim the victory of the cross to them.
Charisma: How is God moving today?
David Jeremiah: An important fact I constantly remind believers of is that the miracle-working God of the Bible is the same God who has empowered you today. I don't say that to be cute. I mean it! Grab ahold of the authority you've been given and pray over every crisis in your life in Jesus' name.

EXCLUSIVE: Kenneth Copeland Lays Hands and Prays Over Donald Trump - Jennifer LeClaire

EXCLUSIVE: Kenneth Copeland Lays Hands and Prays Over Donald Trump

Watchman on the Wall, by Jennifer LeClaire
Jennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Earlier this month, we reported how Paula White set up an invitation-only meeting between Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and evangelical pastors.
That meeting happened this week—and plenty of Pentecostals were there to lay hands on the billionaire, make declarations over his life and pray.
Beyond Paula White, also present were Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Jentezen Franklin, David Jeremiah, Jan Crouch, Steve Munsey, Jews for Jesus Rabbi Kirt Schneider, Bishop George Bloomer, Bishop Darrell Scott and Clarence McClendon.
In this video, Kenneth Copeland is praying over Trump.
"No man can be successful as president of the United States without Your wisdom. And so we ask You today to give this man Your wisdom, boldly. Make sure and certain that he hears. Manifest Yourself to him," Copeland prayed. "And we thank You and praise You for a bold man, a strong man and an obedient man."

As we have reported, Trump's campaign is pulling out all the stops to woo Christian voters. He recently told a rally his favorite book is the Bible, but later refused to share his favorite verse
"During the meeting, he talked about his Christian faith," David Brody, CBN Newschief political correspondent, wrote. "At one point he admitted that he may not have read the Bible as much as the pastors in the room. As the conversation continued, a few of the ministers implored Trump to tone down some of his harsh rhetoric.
"As for additional subject matter, Trump told the religious leaders and pastors that he will be a strong supporter of Israel and that defeating ISIS would be a strong part of his agenda," Brody continued. "He also discussed trade, balancing the budget, eliminating the deficit and tax reform."
Will Pentecostals back Trump? Should we?
