"To Ignore Evil is to Become an Accomplice to It"
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor, anti-Nazi dissident (he died in a German concentration camp) and author of The Cost of Discipleship, poignantly stated, "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak, is to speak. Not to act, is to act." The great reformer and civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr., said, "To ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it."
Sadly, these warnings are as appropriate and applicable to the Church of America today as at any time in history, for an evil beyond the scale of the holocaust is underway. We have now moved from killing babies, dismembering them and selling their body parts, to murdering struggling infants that have survived the brutality of abortion. America has lost its soul.
For various reasons, most spiritual leaders in America have chosen not to speak out on abortion, elections, and many other important moral issues of our day. These reasons include:
• a belief that spiritual leaders should remain separate from the political realm because it is "evil" and "divisive."
• a belief that spiritual influence in peoples' lives does not give them a right to speak into their followers' social, moral, or political views.
• a theological belief that this is not their responsibility.
• a fear of losing congregants.
• a fear of losing financial support.
• a fear of the IRS.
I'm sure there are other reasons which could be listed. However, regardless of the reasons, no honest person can refute the fact that most leaders in the Church have disengaged from public involvement in politics and national moral issues. While I respect my peers in the Body of Christ and understand the challenges facing them in today's polarized and volatile culture, I fear that our choice of silence on many issues has come at a devastating cost.
Inevitably, this absolution has also filtered into the pew. Few Christians are willing to make a stand on social issues, preferring to remain aloof and silent. Only about half of Americans who claim to be evangelical Christians are even registered to vote, and many who are registered don't bother to do so.
Most statistics make it clear that evangelicals could turn any national election in America if we all voted, and did so based on Biblical values, not party lines. Yet most spiritual leaders fail to confront this. (Photo via Pexels)
A Disengaged Church
Not only does the disengaged Church fail to vote or actively involve itself in social issues, most do not even pray regarding the challenges we face in America. A recent experience of mine in the Sunday service of a prominent mega-church exemplifies this fact. It occurred on the weekend during which President Trump would be making his decision regarding retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy's replacement. This decision had the potential of shifting the balance of power on the Supreme Court to a conservative, pro-constitutionalist, pro-life majority, something America has desperately needed since the 1960s.

The decision was so monumental that it would doubtlessly affect the lives of the children, and even the grandchildren of those present that day. Indeed, President Trump's appointments to the court will undoubtedly be two or three of the most significant decisions of our lifetime.
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
In light of this decision's magnitude, and since the pastor himself referred to his church that day as "a praying church," I kept waiting for someone to lead in a prayer for wisdom and guidance from Holy Spirit to POTUS Trump, enabling him to make the right decision. If not a 15-30 minute time of corporate prayer (perhaps this imminent decision was more important than the sermon that day!) then at least 5 or 10 minutes of prayer. No? Then how about a one or two sentence prayer while praying over the offering or sermon.

When no prayer was offered, I held out hope that at the close of the service they would at least encourage people to pray about this decision on their own. As you have probably guessed by now, it was never mentioned. I was stunned, grieved and angered. Tragically, this is the norm, not the exception.

The Church in America today may be the most culturally disengaged Church in our nation's history.
Based on the facts, any honest deduction must conclude that the American Church's silence and withdrawal from the public square has allowed those who do not espouse Biblical values nor honor our Christian heritage to take over much of America's leadership. Obviously, the opposite could have occurred: had the Body of Christ been engaged we could have prevented abortion, infanticide, the rejecting of America's Christian roots, the taking over of our education system by humanists and secularists, God's expulsion from the public square and more. By default, we helped create that which we loathe.
Can the Fruit the Church's Silence Be Reversed?
Can the fruit of America's sin and the Church's silence be reversed? Yes and no. Just as those who were killed by the Nazis could obviously not be brought back, we obviously can do nothing to undo the deaths of 60 million aborted babies. But we, like the allied forces of WWII, can stop the senseless killing and heal the land (2 Chronicles 7:14). This pro-death scourge on our nation's history need not continue.

I believe God is offering the American Church – and consequently our nation – an opportunity for a historical course correction. For this to occur, however, a fundamental change must occur in the minds of Believers: we must choose to re-engage and become the salt and light Christ intends us to be. We must cease being conformists and reclaim our voice.

Our times have dictated that there is no longer a middle ground. We are even now being weighed in the balances – and our decision will tip the scales – toward either continued apathy and irrelevance or the healing and discipling of a nation. (Photo via Pixabay)
We MUST make our choice, and we must do so NOW.
Find Your Voice and Make a Stand
If ending the lives of surviving, struggling babies on bloody abortion tables is not enough to motivate the Church of America and its leaders to regain their voices, I'm not sure what can. If literal infanticide, celebrated by governors and legislatures around this nation with cheering and lit-up buildings, is not enough to awaken the conscience of the American Church, then I fear it is too late.
Leaders, please do not try and circumvent this decision by pinning America's future on "the sovereignty of God."

God's sovereignty does not negate our choices nor absolve us of the consequences.

The prophet Ezekiel was told, "When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand" (Ezekiel 33:8 NASB). We, the Church, are God's voice in the earth and we must speak.
Church of America, I plead with you: find your voice and make a stand.

Millions of Women Will Be Haunted by This Come Christmas - SHAWN CARNEY CHARISMA NEWS

Millions of Women Will Be Haunted by This Come Christmas

SHAWN CARNEY  CHARISMA NEWS
It was early morning on Christmas Eve. We were newlyweds, had no kids yet and were pulling out of the driveway to head to my wife's parents for Christmas.
"We should drive by the clinic, just in case" my wife Marilisa said.
"No," I rebutted, "Come on, surely not today; they're closed."
My gut sank as I pulled around the corner and saw Planned Parenthood's gate open. This was their regularly scheduled day for abortions, and I naively thought they would be closed. I was wrong. Marilisa and I spent much of the day offering alternatives on the other side of the fence.
Nobody grows up wanting an abortion.

Women do not leap out of their cars and scream about reproductive rights as they enter an abortion facility. They don't quote Planned Parenthood, celebrities or political talking points. And when they are leaving, the last thing they will do is "Shout My Abortion," as Oprah is encouraging. No, they're not even thinking about Oprah, as surprising as that might be to her.
Abortion is no longer rhetoric at that point; it is real and final.
I've heard hundreds of testimonies from women who have had an abortion, and they always remember the date of their abortion and their due date if they were given one. There is one thought that covered me that entire Christmas Eve we spent counseling (and beyond): These women will remember their abortion every Christmas for the rest of their lives.
Christmas and abortion just don't pass the gut check, even for those who support abortion.
There is one consistent exception to that: Planned Parenthood.
Their cold and disconnected approach to women and abortion is highlighted at Christmas. They believe abortion to be a sacrament celebrated on any unborn baby on any day of the year. Just last year, a new Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Texas started doing abortions the week of Christmas. Not the traditional Christmas grand opening.
Planned Parenthood must remain sterile, insensitive and loud when defending abortion ... and this is good news for the pro-life movement. Abortion simply cannot be justified in the face of science, reason or faith, and its current defense proves that. Abortion advocates are louder than ever.
Yet the noise is off-putting.
The pro-life movement is filled with converts—those who've had an abortion, those who've worked at Planned Parenthood, and doctors who've done abortions. It is truly a movement of converts, and therefore of hope.
And noise is always silenced when opposed with hope.
Planned Parenthood can attempt all they want to use Christmas to normalize abortion or make it seem like any other surgery. But nature and the human heart will beg to differ.
As we celebrate Christmas and enter a New Year, and as we gather in January at the March for Life in Washington to mark 46 years of legalized abortion, there is more momentum in the pro-life movement than ever before. Despite those 46 years, this movement—built on science, reason and faith—gets younger and more motivated by the day.
There was noise surrounding the birth of Christ: an unexpected pregnancy, exile and poverty.
That noise was silenced by the hope from the baby in the manger. The peace that comes with Christmas came through the womb and overtakes the noise. The noise distracts us from the fear and anxiety that leads to abortion, from the barbaric reality of the abortion itself and from the pain that follows.
Christmas does the opposite—it silences, reveals and restores our flawed view of life, ourselves and each other.
As Fulton Sheen wisely put it, "The Christmas gift of peace was the uncoiling of the links of a triple chain that first unites a person with God, then with himself, then with his neighbor."

Abortion: The One Issue That Can Make Enemies of Israel and America at the UN - Israel Today

Abortion: The One Issue That Can Make Enemies of Israel and America at the UN

Tuesday, November 20, 2018 |  Israel Today Staff
Ever since President Donald Trump's election, Israel and the United States have present a strong united front in the halls of the United Nations. But on Monday, America found itself being voted against by Israel at the General Assembly.
The issue up for debate was sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement.
The Trump Administration sought to water down portions of a non-binding resolution pertaining to the matter, in particular clauses that affirmed a woman's right to terminate her unborn child. The US was backed in this endeavor by Russia, China, India, a number of Muslim countries and the Vatican.
"We do not recognize abortion as a method of family planning, nor do we support abortion in our reproductive health assistance," US diplomat Courtney Nemroff told the world body.
But Trump's amendment to the resolution was defeated, and among the countries voting against it was Israel.
Abortion is rampant in Israel, though rates have been declining for the past two decades. While it requires approval by a special committee, that approval is so easy to obtain that abortion is often used as a form of birth control in the Jewish state. Even so, about half of the estimated 40,000 abortions performed every year in Israel take place at private clinics without committee approval. This is technically illegal, but there have been no known prosecutions related to the practice.

Supreme Court Rules Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers Can't Be Forced to Join 'Sales Team for Abortion' - CBN News Jennifer Wishon

CBN News spoke with Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life of America about the Supreme Court's ruling. She said, "This just shows you how important elections are in our country."

Supreme Court Rules Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers Can't Be Forced to Join 'Sales Team for Abortion'
06-26-2018
CBN News Jennifer Wishon
WASHINGTON – Pro-life Californians scored a big win in the Supreme Court Tuesday. In a 5-4
ruling, justices decided a California law that forces pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise information
about abortion probably violates the Constitution.

The high court sent the NIFLA v. Becerra case back to a lower court where it says the pro-life
argument is likely to win on the merits of their claim that the law violates the First Amendment.

The justices struck down a second part of the law that requires unlicensed pregnancy centers to
post a sign that says as much.

"We applaud the US Supreme Court for sending a clear statement today that pro-life Americans
cannot be discriminated against and targeted by the government. The state of California's insidious
effort to prevent pregnancy care centers from helping suffering women is appalling," Penny Nance,
president of Concerned Women For America, said after the ruling.

And Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins says the ruling "put a halt to the
abortion industry's campaign forcing pro-life advocates to act as a sales team for abortion."

Tired of the liberal media censoring the Christian perspective from the headlines?

The court examined a 2015 California law, called the "Reproductive FACT Act," that forces more
than 100 privately funded pro-life clinics, many Christian-affiliated, to post notices on the wall
informing women that free or low-cost abortions are available.

Failure to do so results in fines or getting shut down.

Basically, the law requires pro-life Californians to advertise a practice they believe is murder.
However, critics say the case is about much more than abortion.

"This is a victory for freedom of speech, freedom of expression and for countless unborn babies.
We should be grateful for this ruling, and we ought to pray for the crucial work of pregnancy
resources centers around the country," tweeted Dr. Russell Moore, president of the Ethics and
Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Supreme Court got it right today with the NIFLA case: the state cannot and must not be able
to force pro-life organizations to participate in abortion.

This is a victory for freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and for countless unborn babies.
We should be grateful for this ruling, and we ought to pray for the crucial work of pregnancy resources
centers around the country.

"Freedom-loving women should celebrate the court's wisdom here in allowing all women to serve
their fellow neighbor as their conscience dictates, free from government interference," continued
Nance.

Justice Clarence Thomas delivered the opinion of the court which was joined by Chief Justice
John Roberts, Justices Anthony Kennedy, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch.

Ryan Anderson at the Heritage Foundation says Tuesday's Supreme Court ruling will likely have
a positive impact in other areas as well, tweeting: "Reading through Justice Thomas's opinion: what
he says about professional speech should help protect many other professionals, and not just on
speech about abortion, but also speech about marriage, rightly understood."

Reading through Justice Thomas's opinion: what he says about professional speech should help
protect many other professionals, and not just on speech about abortion, but also speech about
marriage, rightly understood.
Brad Dacus, president and founder of the Pacific Justice Institute, agreed.

"Today's decision from the Supreme Court is a resounding reaffirmation of free speech principles
and a sharp rebuke to the California Legislature," he said. "The so-called Reproductive FACT Act
was never about objectivity or information—it was a blatant attempt to coerce pro-life advocates
into promoting the very thing they abhor. We are gratified that the Supreme Court rewarded our
efforts over the last several years to defeat this insidious legislation."

Justice Stephen Breyer filed a dissenting opinion, which was joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
Sonya Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan.

This case is expected to affect similar laws in other states.

Research shows when a woman considering abortion sees her baby on an ultrasound prior to making
her decision, often at a crisis pregnancy center, 90 percent of those mothers choose life.

"I hope leaders in Sacramento will take heed and end the apparent race to appease the radical Left
with more and more intolerance," said Dr. Jerry Johnson, president, and CEO of the National
Religious Broadcasters.
