STANDING FOR TRUTH IN A WORLD OF DECEPTION - Now Think On This – Book 4 are more messages that I have written for the Love For His People and Now Think On This blogs. They cover a variety of topics to encourage you, believers in Jesus, in your daily walk, while standing firmly committed for His plans and purposes in our nations.

As the Lord would give me a word or two in my spirit, I would begin to write what more followed. With a prophetic and inspirational edge, I trust that these messages will be an encouragement to you to stand strong in your faith, fulfill the call on your life, and be a light to the nations, beginning in your own family.

These simple words are meant to be an addition to your daily Bible reading and prayer time. With the days growing darker, each of us must be built up in the faith of our forefathers and the Jewish writers of the Written Word, as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

We must stand strong for truth in this world of deception surrounding us.

Here are a few of the 24 chapter titles:  Well Done,  Happy To Be God’s Treasure,  Expressions & Diversity,  Perspective, No More Restraints, Expectations,  Heart Growing Cold, Martyrdom, and Perception.

This is my 9th published book. By now I am quite sure you have read the previous ones, but if not, you can find them on the right and left hand columns of this blog. All are available on Amazon in print and Kindle versions. Or check the Martin Lighthouse Publishing page with this blog. The link is in the top left hand corner.

And thank you to those who have enjoyed my writings. I delight to use this gift of the Lord for His purposes.

Be blessed,

Steve Martin

Do You Believe In God? - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Do You Believe In God?
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.  "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." (Matt. 7:24-27 NKJV)

Do you believe in God?

No, really. Do you, who say you are a Christian, possibly born in a Christian home, maybe raised by Christian parents, and claiming all along that you ARE a Christian, really believe in the Lord God of heaven and earth? Or do you just say you do? Do you really know Him?

How do you answer or respond to these questions or statements? (Please answer them as truthfully as you can. Only you will really know if you do or not.)

1.      I pray daily, believing that God hears my prayers and will answer in His way, His time, and for my greater good and those I love. Yes or no?

2.      When something goes wrong in my life, I often think that God is punishing me. Yes or no?

3.      If a health crisis occurs, I first call the doctor to get an appointment.

4.      The Bible is God’s Word, and I seek to know more truth by reading that before the daily newspaper or watching the morning news show. Or checking Facebook.

5.      There is a lot of bad stuff happening in the world right now. If God is Who He says He is, it wouldn’t be so. Yes or no?

How you responded to these every day questions or statements can well indicate if you really believe in God or not, or specifically, if you believe in the God of the Bible or not. How DID you respond?

I know there are times when we have doubts in our faith, in our walk with the Lord, and do question why and what, but is that a normal pattern in your walk, or more often than you realize? What would happen if something really traumatic occurs tomorrow? Or how did you respond when the last one did?

Having played on a sports team in my youth, through my teenage years, preparation for the upcoming games, with daily practice on the fundamentals and also unique situations that will arise in a game, made us ready. When real game situations did happen, that time given for the proper and needed time in anticipation, had made us ready. At least to the point that our ability and maturity had taken us in those years.

The many hours of hard work and effort paid off in the hour of the contest. We had put in the necessary time, making ourselves ready for the times ahead. And it indeed paid off, as it was a thrill playing in the state baseball championship games as a reward.

Putting the same scenario in our spiritual walk, as Jesus taught in the Matthew 27 Scripture quoted above, the one who built his house upon the rock, and made himself ready for the storms that would surely come, stood when the rough times came. The one who didn’t, well, he couldn’t, and didn’t stand.

The God Whom we say we believe in knows all, sees all, and is over all. If He says we must ready ourselves for the days ahead, for surely they will become dark and the love of many will grow cold because of it, then we must heed and obey His words.

“Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.  But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.” (Matt 24:12-13 NASU)

How will we endure? How will we stand?

We will be able to because of His grace, while most certainly because of the time we now give in preparation for those times – reading His Word, praying daily, strengthening our inner man in the Holy Spirit for such a time as those which are certain to come.

I hope this reminder encouragers you to keep during the basics in your Christian walk. Believe in God by doing what He says. Then you will be ready in season and out.

Now think on this,

Steve Martin

Do You Want to Hear God’s Voice in 2015? - J. LEE GRADY

Are you paying attention to the voice of God?

Fire in My Bones, by J. Lee Grady
When I was in my 20s I was praying about whether I should enroll in graduate school. Then one morning in my devotional time I came to Psalm 32:8 and it seemed to be flashing like a neon sign. It said: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go."
The Holy Spirit was emphasizing to me that God would teach me and that I didn't need additional schooling. That's not to say graduate school is wrong for everyone else; it was just not God's plan for me at that time. And God used a Scripture to clearly show me what path I should take.
The Bible promises that God will guide us. But many Christians find it difficult to hear God's voice. And in some charismatic churches we complicate things when we try to make guidance mystical or weird—as if you have to hear an audible voice from heaven about what color shirt to wear.
Years ago I learned from author Henry Blackaby that there are four distinct ways we receive divine guidance:
1. You can hear God's voice by reading the Bible. Friends have sometimes complained to me: "I just never hear God speaking." Yet when I ask if they read the Bible regularly, they say they're too busy.
God supernaturally inspired 40 authors over a period of 1,600 years to compile His love letter to us. After the Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek, many people were martyred because they translated it in a modern language. God went to a lot of trouble to compile the Bible. Yet today Bibles are collecting dust in the homes of people who are too busy to read God's most direct message to Planet Earth!
When you read Scripture with a prayerful heart, God can cause a verse to jump off the page as a direct message to you. British preacher Charles Spurgeon recognized this years ago when he wrote: "When I have been in trouble, I have read the Bible until a text has seemed to stand out of the Book, and salute me, saying, 'I was written specially for you.'" Expect God to speak directly to you from Scripture.
2. You can hear God's voice through the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not an eerie presence that just hangs around. He lives in every born-again Christian, and He comforts us and actively speaks to us. He can do this in many ways: through dreams, visions, warnings, a sense of conviction, or—most often—through what we know as the "still, small voice" (1 Kings 19:12) of the Spirit.
I have had prophetic dreams and visions over the years, but the most common way the Spirit speaks to me is through a deep sense of inward knowing. I will never forget a time in 1985 when God spoke to me while I was driving my car in Florida. A message came to me, not audibly but in my spirit: "You will move to Washington, D.C." It seemed to come out of the blue, and I knew it did not originate with me. Four years later I was offered a job in the Washington, D.C., area and I worked there for three years.
The ability to hear the Spirit's voice is developed over years as we grow in Christ. If you really want to hear Him, you should ask God to fill you with His Spirit. As you allow more of the Spirit's presence and power in your life, you will set aside your selfish agendas and sinful habits so God can communicate without any hindrance.
3. You can hear God's voice through people. God never intended for us to live in isolation. We are members of His body, the church, and you will hear God better when you are in fellowship with His people. God can speak to you through a pastor's sermon, a friend's wise counsel, a mother's rebuke, a mentor's phone call or a prophetic word given to you by one of God's Spirit-filled servants.
God uses the gift of prophecy, but you should never chase after prophecies. I know Christians who will travel across the country to attend a prophetic conference to get a word from God, yet they have not read the Bible in months or sat still long enough to hear from God on their own. Never treat the holy gift of prophecy like fortune telling. When God needs to speak to you in an unusual way, He has faithful messengers who will deliver it to you at the exact time you need it.
4. You can hear God's voice through circumstances. Not everything that happens to you is God's will. But God is sovereign, and He has power over nature, over government leaders and over all the details of your life. He opens doors that no man can shut. If you have been praying about getting a job at one company, and suddenly you get an offer at a different company, this may be God's sign that He has a better place for you to work.
My oldest daughter wanted to attend a college in Tennessee, and we were praying about her decision. Right after we prayed I got a call from the president of a college in Georgia. He was inviting me to speak at the school, but in our conversation I learned that this school was willing to offer my daughter a scholarship. She ended up enrolling in that school, meeting her future husband there and graduating four years later. God was totally involved in that phone call from Georgia!
As you begin this New Year, ask God to tune your ears to His voice in a fresh way. Guidance is not complicated when you sincerely want to hear Him speak.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

Steve Martin’s books, as well as his blog, have an engaging dimension of making you feel a part of the journey he’s on. He’s always reaching for something more in God while facing the realities of life. He’s very real as he traverses the pathways of life. What’s important to him is not arbitrary, but the result of the honest reflections he describes as he makes the reader to relate and feel a part of his journey. His writings reflect the adventure that God intended our lives to be, with Him at helm. He has not fallen short in the adventure that his life has been and is. Encouraging, inspiring and highly recommended.

   About the Author

Steve Martin served with three Christian ministries from 1987-2010, all having a national and international outreach focus. During that time he made 14 ministry trips to Israel, China, India, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom.
On his overseas journeys Steve enjoyed sharing written journal entries with family and friends back home, through Internet media. His light-hearted stories gave an up close and personal touch for those reading along. Many could imagine being there themselves. His extensive collection of photos taken during these trips, of both local scenery and common people on the streets, has touched thousands through their varied images.
In 2010, Steve and Laurie began Love For His People, Inc, a 501©3 non-profit humanitarian aid ministry. This work touches the natural and spiritual lives of those around them with needed encouragement and strength.

Book Description

 February 28, 2014
Now Think On This – The Inspiration Continues are more messages that I have written and shared on my two blogs Love For His People and Now Think On This. They cover a variety of topics that believers in Jesus (Yeshua) are interested in. Each one can also be a means of bringing encouragement to you as you walk the daily walk.

Many times these messages came as a result of inspiration by the Holy Spirit. I would be driving along, and He would give me a thought, which I would then write down on a notecard or whatever piece of paper was handy.

My previous books, Ahava Love Letters (2013) and Now Think On This (2014) began after I had returned from Israel for the 10th time. We had just established our ministry to bless friends in Israel and the nations, which we named Love For His People, Inc, in April of 2010. I was asking the Lord for the next directive. His response was to use one of the gifts He had given me – to write. Some would call it a teaching gift. It took me a long time to see it that way, but now I do. And so I write.

Daily we are bombarded with negative news, pressures of the job, and conflicts to be dealt with. We all need encouragement. We need the assurance that our Creator, the One who knows the plans He has for us, is still in control.

These messages will bring you hope, give you the solid sense of His hand on all, and increase your faith to stand strong on your convictions. I purposely kept each one short so you can read them alongside your Bible or other daily material.
