Divine Bus Appointments
While riding on a bus full of Haredim, I met a young woman who began to proselytize me. She invited me to join her in praying at the grave of her rabbi!
“But he’s dead so why do you pray there?” I asked.
“He still hears our prayers because he was a Tzadik, a righteous man,” she replied.
“Even though he was considered a Tsadik, he still fell short of G-d's standard, which is perfection,” I replied with kindness.
The bus made a stop and she wasn’t planning to get off there, but suddenly she ran off the bus!
So then I started talking to another religious lady. We exited the bus at the next stop and had a long talk. She had overheard our conversation and said that I must be a very spiritual person. I explained that I am a Messianic Jew and then she told me she grew up in a Christian home but converted to Orthodox Judaism! Immediately she began to recite the L-rd‘s prayer but she left out “ and lead me not into temptation but deliver me from evil” so I gently added that. Again she called me a spiritual person.
We actually agreed on a lot of things and when I heard more of her story, I told her that her disappointment with Christians was because she kept her eyes on the people of יהוה not יהוה Himself. I was able to share with her a lot about Yeshua. That really seemed to touched her and she gave me a hug before leaving rather quickly...
