US to Fund Israeli Anti-Tunnel Tech | Israel Today Staff

US to Fund Israeli Anti-Tunnel Tech

Wednesday, February 03, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
Israel’s defense establishment is soon expecting an influx of US funds to complete work on an advanced anti-tunnel system that will hopefully prevent future terrorist incursions from the Gaza Strip.
The American Congress approved involvement in the Israeli project already last summer, and Washington has now agreed to match the Israeli government’s financial contribution by transferring $120 million, according to Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot.
The US sees the new system as being equally applicable in curbing illegal migration across the US-Mexican border.
Israel has been tight-lipped about the new system to date, and very few details have reached the press.
What is known is that Hamas and its terrorist allies have resumed in earnest their efforts to tunnel into southern Israel, and residents in the Jewish state’s Negev region are growing increasingly anxious over the situation.

How to Use Films to Express Your Faith - STEVE YOUNT/A. LARRY ROSS CHARISMA NEWS

How to Use Films to Express Your Faith

Join us on the new C-Pop podcast where Taylor and Jessilyn discuss, debate and sometimes deride pop culture with a strong sense of humor and a focus on Christ. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.
The creators of Masterless, a movie that mixes problems from the 21st century with imagery from feudal Japan to tell a timeless story of faith, have launched a YouTube channel to help viewers gain an greater understanding of how the film can be used as a tool to discuss challenging concepts of faith.
The launch of the YouTube channel coincided with the home-entertainment release of the film. The DVD can be purchased at Walmart stores or ordered at amazon.com and christiancinema.com. Movie fans also can watch the film via streaming video on iTunes and video on demand on DISH TV, DIRECTV and Comcast, among other outlets.
Each episode is narrated by Masterless star Adam LaVorgna (7th HeavenBrooklyn Bridge) and concludes with a series of discussion questions designed to engage those who may not practice the Christian life.
"We wanted to do this because of the allegorical nature of the story," director/writer Craig Shimahara said. "When people of faith understand the symbolism, the movie and the YouTube channel together become a meaningful resource."
Masterless has received high praise at independent film festivals, including being named the "Best Overall Feature" at the 2015 Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase.
LaVorgna plays the dual role of two lost souls searching for meaning: Kane Madison, an architect in Los Angeles whose master is his work, and his spiritual counterpart, an 18th-century Ronin, a samurai with no lord or master, who is wandering a netherworld of masked demons and Japanese swordsmen.
On his journey, the Ronin encounters many obstacles, including a mysterious madam played by Kaho Minami, a well-known Japanese actress and the wife of actor Ken Watanabe, in her first English-speaking role.
The film is Shimahara's first full-length feature, and he sets the contemporary story in the competitive world of architectural design, a field he knows intimately as the owner of an architectural illustration firm, Shimahara Illustration, in Los Angeles.
Shimahara Illustration produced all of the visual effects for the film. A team of more than 30 artists in three time zones worked for a year to digitally create all of the "Spirit World" backdrops for more than 600 green screen shots.
The filmmakers discovered the Japanese armor worn by the characters in the film at the Warner Bros. wardrobe storehouse. It was originally designed for the 2003 epic,The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise and Watanabe.

'Indispensable' Ancient Church Shaken By World Violence - WORLD WATCH MONITOR CHARISMA NEWS

The Virgin Mary Church is 'indispensable' to Christianity.

'Indispensable' Ancient Church Shaken By World Violence

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

One of the oldest churches in the world sustained damage last week in the intensified fighting between the Turkish government and Kurdish separatists.
Rocket-propelled grenades destroyed a portion of the wall surrounding the Virgin Mary Church in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir on 28 Jan. The Syriac Orthodox church is 1,700 years old.
Fr. Yusuf Akbulut, the priest of the church, was sheltered with his family at his home, located on church grounds, during the attack.
Violence has engulfed Diyarbakir's Sur district, the location of the church, since early December. The government issued an evacuation order on 26 Jan. due to pitched street battles between armed militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Turkish forces.
Fr. Akbulut, who has overseen the church for 23 years, initially refused to evacuate. He and his wife remained in the building until 28 Jan., saying he feared the church would be levelled in an aerial bombardment if left empty.
"We wouldn't have left the church. But when we looked [on the street] and saw that land mines and rockets were exploding non-stop, we knew that we couldn't stay," he told World Watch Monitor. "Our house was shaking and we thought it would collapse."
The power, electricity, and water were cut off. It was time to flee.
Fr. Akbulut dialed 155, the police emergency line. He was told that his neighbourhood was a no-go area, barricaded off to civil authorities. The operator gave him instructions on how to escape. They stepped out on the street cautiously, with Fr. Akbulut waving a white flag. Nobody was there.
Whole buildings were collapsed, reduced to piles of rubble. "It was like a war zone," he said.
Fr. Akbulut and his family are staying in a hotel for the foreseeable future. Ongoing clashes in the church's neighbourhood prevent their return.
But controversy has followed him. He has fended off reports from the Turkish media that his church had indirect involvement with the PKK.
Turkish newspapers claimed on 30 Jan. that a cache of ammunition and explosives was found on the site of Virgin Mary Church. Fr. Akbulut said that he knew nothing of this cache while he was there, and that it was likely deposited after he fled.
Syriac leaders blasted the reports for insinuating that their church could have any link to violent terrorism.
"We know the goals of these reports, which are hateful and completely made up," announced Evgin Turker, president of the Federation of Syriac Foundations. "After the news came out, threats against us started to rain down."
Turkish Protestant church leaders have condemned the PKK violence, raging for the past two months, issuing a joint call for the state to show justice and mercy to its citizens. In early January, a 12-person delegation came to Diyarbakir to issue a statement calling on both sides to seek a peaceful solution.
"We came to beg all parties to take steps towards peace to escape from this spiral of violence," said Ihsan Ozbek, leader of Turkey's Association of Protestant Churches. The pastors met with the district governor, Huseyin Aksoy, and Diyarbakir mayor, Gultan Kisanak.
The violence in Diyarbakir has engulfed other Christian fellowships. Members of Diyarbakir Protestant Church, located directly across the street from the Virgin Mary Church, couldn't hold regular services in their building for two months.
They met in an alternative site throughout the winter but resumed their meetings in the church three weeks ago. When the attacks started last Wednesday, three members of the church in the building immediately fled. Following the advice of the Turkish security forces, they also waved white flags.
Protestant pastor Ahmet Guvener, a friend of Akbulut, called the priest repeatedly to convince him to flee the neighbourhood.
"The bombs started going off every hour. We called Father Yusuf multiple times to try to get him and his wife to leave," Guvener told World Watch Monitor.
Guvener and Fr. Akbulut both said none of the attacks specifically targeted their churches, which are caught in the ongoing violence between the Turkish military and the PKK.
Fierce fighting has escalated across southeastern Turkey since the end of a two-year ceasefire in July 2015. Youth members of the PKK declared self-rule over large parts of Sur, digging trenches and building barricades to keep authorities out, according to Al-Monitor.
A military statement in the official Anadolu Agency said Turkish forces have so far killed 500 PKK fighters in the southeastern town of Cizre and 149 in Sur since December.
According to the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP), the government has imposed curfews on many predominantly Kurdish towns and cities. To date, at least 161 civilians, including dozens of children, have died in the violence.
An 'indispensable' holy site for Orthodox Christians
Fr. Akbulut was insistent that he stay in the church as long as possible, even at the risk of his own life. He considers the church indispensable for his congregation, and for Syriac Orthodox Christianity at large.
"I would not be able to live with myself if I abandoned the church," Fr. Akbulut told the Assyrian International News Agency. "It is a symbol for us Assyrians and a symbol for all Christianity. This is a holy place."
The church is of enormous importance to Eastern Orthodoxy, having produced theologians and patriarchs in the early centuries of Christianity. It holds relics such as a piece of the cross and the bones of the apostle Thomas.
The Virgin Mary Church was recently renovated with funds collected from the Syriac diaspora in Europe. Artisans and masons restored the church's mosaics, hand-carved walnut tree doors, stone and brick walls, and silver lanterns.
Fr. Akbulut leads a congregation of 40 members. He speaks Syriac, a language closely related to Aramaic, the language of Jesus and his disciples.
The congregation represents a tiny remnant of Syriac Christianity, an ancient Eastern Rite Church still found in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.

A Revelation 3:8 Year and a Philadelphia Season - KEN MALONE CHARISMA NEWS

Watch for these open doors and move through them quickly.

Prophetic Insight, from Charisma Media
Earlier this month while in Jesup, Georgia, I was in the Spirit and I began to see and hear awesome things for 2016.
I heard the rattling of keys and the sounds of ancient locks being opened.
I saw strong angels opening doorways that have been shut for generations. I heard the Lord say, "Revelation 3:8 will be yours this year, a time that open doors will be set before you. Gates to ancient pathways are opening this year. This will be a year of KAIROS OPPORTUNITY."
I saw open doors, doorways and gates forming by the first of Nissan, which is April 9, 2016 on the Gregorian calendar. As I see these doors opening they are positioned in THE RIVER OF GOD. They are forming in HIS RIVER. These open doors are coming before you throughout 2016.
The key to moving through these doors this year is to get into the RIVER OF GOD. If you get into His River, you will not miss the doors.
"I know your works. Look! I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it. For you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name" (Rev. 3:8, MEV).
Steward the Prophetic Word
Many of God's people miss their destiny because they do not steward the word that is given to them by Holy Spirit. They place it on a shelf of forgetfulness to collect dust. When that word makes it to that shelf, it will never come to pass as long as it's on the level of forgetfulness.
Paul admonished Timothy to war with the prophetic words that were given to him."This command I commit to you, my son Timothy, according to the prophecies that were previously given to you, that by them you might fight a good fight" (1 Tim. 1:18, MEV).
When you pray, worship the Lord, and pray in tongues over the prophetic word given you, it begins to set into motion everything that is necessary to see that word come to pass. It will come to pass quicker if you war over your word.
Begin to do this over this Revelation 3:8 Word and you will see results by April 9.
On Jan. 15, a lady that I don't even know walked up to me and said, "This is going to be an amazing year for you and your family." She then walked away. I'm ready Lord. Bring on these OPEN DOORS.
Watch for these doorways to open. When you see them, move quickly through them.
Doorways of:
  • The Supernatural—You, the church, are about to move into a supernatural realm. Things that you were not able to accomplish in previous seasons will be accomplished through the supernatural work of Holy Spirit.
  • Miracles and Healings—Doorways of miracles and healings are opening as we speak. Many will see physical miracles and healings in their life this year. Those of you in the healing ministry will see powerful miracles and healings. The Healing Room movement will see an increase of Christ's power.
  • Recovery—Gateways of Recovery are open now to those who will step into The River. This is a year to Pursue, Overtake, Without Fail RECOVER ALL. (1 Samuel 30:8)
  • Provision—A doorway of abundant supply is opening now. Get ready for the tide to turn. His supply is coming to you. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything; you may have an abundance for every good deed. (2 Cor. 9:8)
  • Reconciliation—The Lord showed me that doorways of reconciliation are open now. I hope you didn't burn bridges, but even if you did, God is able to rebuild your relationships with others. I also see doorways of the Lord reconciling the backsliden. Many prodigals will be coming home this year. Get ready, pray, pray, pray for your sons and daughters to return to the Lord.

Michael Snyder - Los Angeles Police Urge Residents ‘To Protect Themselves’ As Violent Crime Skyrockets - THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Crime Headlights - Public Domain

Posted: 01 Feb 2016  Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

All over America, rates of violent crime are absolutely soaring.  As you will see below, violent crime overall shot up by 20 percent in Los Angeles last year, and the police are telling people that “they need to be able to protect themselves” because the police may not be able to get there in time when they call.

Thanks to deep budget cuts, police departments across the nation are already severely undermanned, and our major cities are now seeing crime rates increase at a pace that we have not seen in ages.  In a previous article, I encouraged my readers to focus on the five basics of preparation – food, water, shelter, energy and self-defense.  Of those five, it is often self-defense that is the most neglected.  When bad people break into your house in the middle of the night intending to do bad things, what are you going to do?  Many of us have not had to think about that for a long time, but now conditions are rapidly changing in America.

If you don’t believe me, perhaps you will believe the head of the union for the LAPD.  According to him, people living in L.A. “need to be able to protect themselves” because the police “can’t guarantee we’re going to get there in time to help you”…
The citizens need to know they need to be able to protect themselves because if they call 911, we can’t guarantee we’re going to get there in time to help you,” says Police Protective League President Jamie McBride.
He told Paige that Thursday morning between 5:30 and 10 a.m., there were just three patrol cars assigned to the West LA division. Two cars to protect more than 200,000 people in a 65 square mile radius.
“West Los Angeles, at the minimum, should have seven patrol units, two-man units working,” McBride said.
Have you ever been to Los Angeles?

I have, and even in the best of times it can be quite a mean place.

And of course these are not the best of times.  In fact, the overall rate of violent crime in the city was up by 20 percent last year…
Crime is up across the board in the nation’s second-largest city.
Statistics released Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department show that homicides and rapes are each up 9 percent and that robberies are up 13 percent. Violent crime overall increased by 20 percent.
Perhaps you are tempted to think that L.A. is just an anomaly.

Well, let’s go from the second largest city in the country to the third largest city in the country.

There were 51 homicides in Chicago last month, which was the highest total for the city in at least 16 years.  Sadly, this is just a continuation of a trend that has been going on for quite some time.  The following comes from USA Today
Chicago routinely records more homicides annually than any other American city, but the grim January violence toll marks a shocking spike in violence in a city that recorded 29 murders for the month of January last year and 20 murders for the month in 2014. In addition to the jump in killings, police department said that it recorded 241 shooting incidents for the month, more than double the 119 incidents recorded last January.
The rise in violence comes after the Chicago Police Department reported 468 murders in 2015, a 12.5% increase from the year before. There were also 2,900 shootings, 13% more than the year prior, according to police department records.
Some of the crimes that I have been seeing in the news lately are almost too horrible for words.  If reading about acts of violence deeply troubles you, then you might want to stop reading this article right now.  I want to share with you something that recently happened in New York City, and it is the kind of stuff that nightmares are made out of
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday denounced the rape of a woman by five men at a Brooklyn playground, pledging police would work to swiftly apprehend the suspects in “this vicious crime.”
Police said on Saturday the men took turns raping the 18-year-old woman at the playground operated by the New York City Parks Department in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn just after 9 p.m. on Thursday. One man pointed a gun at the father and told him to leave, police said.
After the father left, the men each assaulted the woman, police said. They fled when her father returned a short while later, accompanied by two officers.
One rapist is bad enough, but how do five young men come together and decide that they are going to randomly rape someone?

To do something so despicable your heart has got to be hard as a stone.

What in the world has happened to the morality of our society?

And to me, one of the biggest questions of this entire story is why the father decided to walk away from his daughter.

If I was in the same position, I would have stood my ground.  Maybe those young men would have shot me, but there is no way that I would have ever let them have my daughter.  They would have had to go over my dead body to get to her.

But this is what we are told to do today.  We are told to let the criminals do whatever they want and then call the police.

Unfortunately, now the police are openly telling us that they probably won’t be able to get there in time to do any good.

As the economy slows down, crime rates are going to go even higher.  When unemployment and poverty rise, people get desperate, and desperate people do desperate things.
We all need to start thinking about how we are going to protect ourselves and our families during the hard times that are coming.  Different people have different methods that they prefer, and that is okay.  But we are all going to have to start taking security a lot more seriously.
