Trump Prepares ‘Military Response’ For Syria As Tillerson Works To Form A ‘Coalition’ To Remove Assad From Power - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Posted: 06 Apr 2017 05:00 PM PDT  Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

It makes me physically ill when I think that the U.S. could be on the verge of starting a disastrous war in the Middle East that will not benefit us in any way, shape or form.  I can’t believe this is happening, and a lot of other people apparently can’t either.  In fact, there were some that heavily criticized me when I suggested that Donald Trump had just committed to taking military action in Syria in part 1 and part 2 of this series of articles.

But less than 24 hours laterthe front page of USA Today was running this jarring headline: “Trump team developing military response in Syria”.  It is interesting to note that this came on the 77th day of Trump’s presidency, and on Thursday it was also revealed that the Trump administration is working to put together an international coalition to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power.  The following comes from Fox News
America’s top diplomat addressed the Syria crisis a day after Trump declared in the Rose Garden that the chemical strike would not be tolerated. Tillerson pointedly said Russia should “consider carefully” its support for the Assad regime, while calling for an international effort to defeat ISIS in Syria, stabilize the country and ultimately work with partners through a political process that leads to Assad leaving power.
Asked if the U.S. would organize a coalition to remove Assad, Tillerson said: “Those steps are underway.”
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also told the press that Assad has “no role” in governing Syria in the future, and he pledged there there will be a “serious response” to the recent chemical attack in Syria’s Idlib province.

Of course it is extremely doubtful that Assad had anything to do with that chemical attack, and I am going to share some more of that evidence with you in part 4 of this series.

In terms of what that “serious response” will look like, a lot will be determined over the next 48 hours as Trump consults with his top national security advisers
Defense Secretary James Mattis will brief President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on military options against Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s regime later on Thursday in the wake of a deadly attack which activists said killed at least 100 people — including 25 children — and injured at least 400 others earlier this week.
The White House and Pentagon have had detailed back-and-forth conversations over the past two days over options including a National Security Council meeting Wednesday. Mattis and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster have had repeated contact about the best way forward, a U.S. official told NBC News.
It is being reported that airstrikes and the use of cruise missiles against Syrian targets are among the initial options under consideration.

If Trump drops a few bombs or fires of a few cruise missiles that likely wouldn’t spark a broader conflict, but there is one option that is reportedly being considered that could bring us into direct military conflict with Russia.  According to The Intercept, the Trump team is actually considering a “saturation strike” which would result “in Russian military deaths”…
The proposed strike would involve launching Tomahawk cruise missiles to overwhelm Russian air defense systems used by the Syrian military. The Russian government currently helps maintain the air defense sites and advises the Syrian military.
According to both U.S. military officials, the current proposal would likely result in Russian military deaths and mark a drastic escalation of U.S. force in Syria.
One U.S. military official said the decision to allow the strikes, which would kill Russians, signals a significant change in policy by the Trump administration. A decision by Trump to go forward with the plan would be a reversal from the Obama administration, which denied multiple air strike proposals that would likely cause Russian personnel casualties in Syria.
If that happens, any hope for improved relations with Russia will be permanently extinguished and it could easily result in the Russians shooting back at us.
The Russians have S-300 and S-400 air defense systems already in place in Syria.  Both of those systems are some of the most advanced in the world and are a significant threat to U.S. warplanes.

As I discussed yesterday, it is not difficult to imagine what would happen if footage of U.S. aircraft being blown out of the sky by Russian missiles started rolling on our cable news channels 24 hours a day.

Even now, U.S. Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham are urging President Trump to consider “the grounding of Assad’s air force”
“In addition to other measures, the United States should lead an international coalition to ground Assad’s air force. This capability provides Assad a strategic advantage in his brutal slaughter of innocent civilians, both through the use of chemical weapons as well as barrel bombs, which kill far more men, women and children on a daily basis … Ultimately, the grounding of Assad’s air force can and should be part of a new comprehensive strategy to end the conflict in Syria.”
Of course if Trump goes to war with another sovereign nation without the approval of Congress that would be a blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution, and that is something else that I would be talking about in part 4 of this series.

Even though I am writing about all of this, I still have a hard time believing that this is all happening less than three months into Trump’s presidency.  The stage is being set for the kind of scenario that I outlined in The Beginning Of The End, and right now I am far more alarmed by the state of world events than I was at any point in 2016.

I am particularly disturbed by all of this talk about removing Assad.

How in the world does the Trump administration plan to do that?

Even if they conduct a massive bombing campaign that would turn Damascus into a “ruinous heap”, that would still not guarantee regime change.

The only thing that would guarantee regime change is a full-scale ground invasion and the conquest of the entire city of Damascus.

Of course the Russians, the Iranians and Hezbollah would not willingly step aside and let “coalition forces” march to Damascus, and so such a move could very easily spark World War 3 in the Middle East.

I can’t believe that Trump is actually thinking of going to war with Syria.  There is nothing to be gained and so much that could be lost.  Let us hope that someone can talk some sense to him while there is still time to do so.

BREAKING: PRESIDENT ORDERS STRIKES ON SYRIA AFTER CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACKS KILL CHILDREN. Here’s the latest.

by joelcrosenberg
(Washington, D.C.) -- President Trump on Thursday night ordered U.S. military forces to launch strikes against Syrian targets after the Assad regime again used chemical weapons to slaughter Syrians, including scores of children.
The President should be commended for moving fast and hitting hard.
Now the big question: What will the President do next? Is this a one-off attack, or will the President order a series of attacks? What are the President's goals in Syria? He should destroy Syria's airfields and air force. He should create safe zones where Syrians can be protected from chemical weapons attacks and other attacks. And he must prove that he will hit Assad with tremendous force so no leader or terrorist believes they can use weapons of mass destruction with impunity.
More key questions:
  • What did Putin know, and when did he know it? Putin led the deal in 2013 to remove "all" chemical weapons from Syria. That's why President Obama said he didn't need to strike after Assad crossed the "red line" using WMD the first time. Clearly, not all the chemical weapons were removed. So what are the consequences of Putin's lies to the U.S. and the world?
  • When will Assad be handed over to stand trial for war crimes?
  • Where Russian advisors on the Syrian air base that was hit? Were any killed?
Expect the Israeli military to be on high alert for possible reprisal attacks.
I expect our key Sunni Arab allies -- notably Egypt, Jordan, the Saudis and most of the Gulf states -- to fully and publicly support President Trump's actions.
Here's the latest on the strikes -- please follow me on Twitter for the continuing updates.
"The United States launched nearly five dozen cruise missiles at a Syrian airfield early Friday in response to a chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians, the first direct assault on the Damascus government since the beginning of that country's bloody civil war in 2011," Fox News is reporting.
"It is in the vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons," President Donald Trump said in a statement. "Tonight I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria, and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types."
"Fifty-nine Tomahawk missiles targeted an airbase at Shayrat, located outside Homs," Fox noted. "The missiles targeted the base's airstrips, hangars, control tower and ammunition areas, officials said.
Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis said initial indications were that the strike "had "severely damaged or destroyed Syrian aircraft and support infrastructure and equipment ... reducing the Syrian Government's ability to deliver chemical weapons."

The Great 'Guardian Angel' Debate - JENNIFER LECLAIRE CHARISMA NEWS

Most Americans believe in guardian angels. In fact, more than half of all adults—including 20 percent who say they are not religious—absolutely believe a guardian angel has protected them during their life. That's according to a Baylor University for Studies on Religion survey.
"A lot of times when people hear about angels, they think about these cartoon figures with wings, halos and harps," John Ortberg, senior pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in California, told ABC News. "I don't think that's the idea. I think the idea is that we live in a spiritual reality and these are spiritual beings that God's created, and we call them angels."
Psalm 91 points to the reality of guardian angels. The passage assures us God will command His angels to guard us in all our ways. Psalm 34 tells us angels encamp around those who fear Him. And Matthew 18:10 also suggests we have guardian angels. But there is still some debate over this in Christian circles.
Some believe we have one angel. Others believe we have two. Still others believe we have many angels—even angels on assignment for specific reasons or angels who help us complete God-given assignments. Matthew 18:10 would suggest we have at least two:
"See that you do not despise or think less of one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven [are in the presence of and] continually look upon the face of My Father who is in heaven" (AMP).
The Message translation reads: "Watch that you don't treat a single one of these childlike believers arrogantly. You realize, don't you, that their personal angels are constantly in touch with my Father in heaven?"
Personal angels. Guardian angels. Whatever you want to call them, we have at least two.
John Calvin, from where we get modern-day Calvinism, disagrees that angels are assigned to us:
The interpretation given to this passage by some commentators, as if God assigned to each believer his own angel, does not rest on solid grounds. For the words of Christ do not mean that a single angel is continually occupied with this or the other person; and such an idea is inconsistent with the whole doctrine of Scripture, which declares that the angels encamp around (Ps. 34:7) the godly, and that not one angel only, but many, have been commissioned to guard every one of the faithful. Away, then, with the fanciful notion of a good and evil angel, and let us rest satisfied with holding that the care of the whole Church is committed to angels, to assist each member as his necessities shall require (Source: Commentary on a Harmony of the Evangelists Matthew, Mark, and Luke, on Matthew 18:10).
But Tim Sheets, author of Angel Armies, tells the story of an angel of the Lord who accompanies the apostolic assignment on his life. Once at a conference while he was praying, he heard "Mahanaim" called out from behind him. When he looked behind him, there was nobody there. But he knew the angel was there. William Branham claimed he had an angel of healing assigned to work with him in the ministry. Many others have expressed an angel that has come alongside them to help them on specific ministry exploits.
So what's the answer? We may never know fully while we walk this earth. The broader point, though, is not to get caught up in angel controversies, to worship God and trust that if you need angelic assistance, He will send it whether it's your guardian angels or angels for a specific assignment.

And you shall tell your children on that day, saying: that on account of this the Lord took me out of Egypt.

Today's Israel Inspiration

This verse contains the central message of the Seder and a Hebrew word rich in meaning. והגדת לבנך - v'-hi-gad'-ta l'-bincha means "you shall teach your children" and is the root word for the more familiar Haggadah ( הגדה ) which primarily consists of telling the Passover story to the next generation. The same Hebrew root נ-ג-ד has another meaning which is to bind, join and connect. What is the connection between telling a story and joining together? By recounting the story of the Exodus, we are doing more than recalling events that occurred long ago. We are connecting one generation to the next. Through their tireless efforts providing nourishment and sustenance to all who are needy, Meir Panim is uniting families of all generations ensure the continuation of this Passover tradition.
