Today's Israel Inspiration

The purpose of the Tabernacle in the desert and Temple in Jerusalem was to serve as a fixed resting place for God’s presence on Earth. It is for this reason that the command to build the Tabernacle, the ‘Mishkan,’ follows immediately after the revelation at Sinai, for the Tabernacle was the continuation of the revelation at Sinai. While the Divine Presence rested briefly on Mount Sinai, it found a long-term home in the ‘Mishkan.’ After the completion of the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Mishkan,’ Moses and Aaron entered the Tent of Meeting. As they left to bless the people, “the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.” More than just another Bible, The Israel Bible connects you to the Land of Israel on each and every page.

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Let us remember both those who died & those who risked their lives to tell the world the truth about Hitler’s genocide.

by joelcrosenberg
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, said Santayana.
Today is Yom HaShoah — Holocaust Remembrance Day. How will you remember the Holocaust and teach your children?
This year, let us all make time to remember the six million Jews that were murdered by the Nazis, including 1.5 million children. Let us honor their memories, and pledge ourselves never to forget them. Let us devote ourselves to making sure such evil is never allowed to happen again. This is not just a time for Jews to remember. This is a day for the whole world to remember and commit themselves to standing against evil and against genocide in our time.
My hope and prayer this year is that in addition to remembering those who died in the “Shoah” — the Holocaust — we will also remember four extraordinary heroes who escaped from Auschwitz in the spring of 1944 to tell the world the truth about the atrocities Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were really committing.
  • Rudolf Vrba
  • Alfred Wetzler
  • Arnost Rosin
  • Czeslaw Mordowicz
It is the story of these four men that inspired me to write The Auschwitz Escape. In 2014, FoxNews.com published a column I wrote sketching out their true and remarkably dramatic saga. I hope you’ll take a moment to read the whole column, and share it with others.
REMEMBERING FOUR HEROES OF THE HOLOCAUST: They pulled off the greatest escape in human history – from a Nazi death camp – to tell the world the truth about Hitler, but no few know their names.
By Joel C. Rosenberg
To misunderstand the nature and threat of evil is to risk being blindsided by it.
In 1933, the world was blindsided by the rise of Adolf Hitler.
In 1939, it was stunned by the German invasion of Poland and the Nazi leader’s bloodthirsty quest for global domination. Perhaps most tragically, most of the world did not understand Hitler’s plan to annihilate the Jews until it was almost too late.
Today, we face dangerous new threats from Iran, North Korea, and a rising czar in Russia, not from Germany.
Yet curiously, in recent weeks Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor have each warned that as we confront current challenges we must be careful to learn the lessons of history regarding how the world failed to understand the threat posed by Hitler and the Nazis and deal with it decisively, before events spun out of control.
I agree, and as an example, I would point the extraordinary events that occurred in the spring of 1944.
Four men pulled off the greatest escapes in all of human history, from a Nazi death camp in southern Poland. They did not simply escape to save their own lives. Nor did they escape merely to tell the world about a terrible crime against humanity that had been – and was being – committed. What set these true heroes apart is that they planned and executed their escapes in the hope of stopping a horrific crime before it was committed – the extermination of the Jews of Hungary.
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of these escapes, and to draw attention to the significance these unknown – or unremembered – events, and the lessons they have to teach us, I recently wrote a work of historical fiction, "The Auschwitz Escape." I changed the names of key figures involved so as not to put words in their mouths that cannot be verified to be their own. But it is my deepest hope that the book will cause many to dig into the real history of these remarkable heroes.
Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler were Slovak Jews. They escaped from Auschwitz on April 7, 1944.
Arnost Rosin was also a Slovak Jew. Czeslaw Mordowicz was a Polish Jew. Together they escaped from Auschwitz on May 27, 1944.
Upon making it safely to Czechoslovakia, Vrba, only 19 years old, and Wetzler, 25, linked up with the Jewish underground. They explained Auschwitz was not simply a labor camp, as most thought, but rather a death camp. The Nazis were systematically murdering prisoners, mostly Jews, using poison gas called “Zyklon B,” then burning their bodies in enormous ovens.
The men explained the Nazis were dramatically enlarging an expansion camp a few miles from Auschwitz called “Birkenau,” building new train tracks, enormous new gas chambers, and massive new crematoria. They had also completed ramps leading all those arriving in the cattle cars directly into the gas chambers.
Vrba and Wetzler said they had heard SS guards talking about Hungarian “salami” that would soon be arriving. They knew from their jobs as clerks in the camp that none of Hungary’s nearly 450,000 Jews had yet arrived, even though Jews from most of Europe had come already.
They urged the Czech Jewish leaders to warn Hungarian Jews immediately so they would revolt and not get on the trains. They also urged that the Allied leaders be notified so they would mount an operation to liberate Auschwitz.
Both men were asked to separately draft detailed eyewitness reports. Their reports were then cross-checked, compiled into a single report, and then simultaneously translated into multiple languages.
Eventually, Mordowicz, 23, and Rosin, 30, escaped as well. When they got to Czechoslovakia, they wrote up reports of their own, which were added to the existing document. But all this took precious time the Hungarian Jews did not have.
The report, known as “The Auschwitz Protocol,” was sent to Jewish and Allied leaders in early June 1944. Excerpts were leaked to the press, creating an international uproar. But the Germans had begun deporting Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz in massive numbers on May 15th. And “The Auschwitz Protocol” landed in the hands of President Franklin Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill and their top aides just as the Allies were executing the D-Day invasion of Normandy and trying to liberate France.
On July 2nd, the U.S. began bombing Budapest. Admiral Miklos Horthy’s, the Nazi-backed Regent of Hungary, feared the air raid was in reprisal for the Jewish deportations. He ordered the trains halted. Thus, while, more than 300,000 Hungarian Jews had already been sent to Auschwitz and gassed, 120,000 more Hungarian Jews were saved from deportation and certain death.
Sir Martin Gilbert, the British historian, would later note, “The Auschwitz Protocol” was responsible for “the largest single greatest rescue of Jews in the Second World War.”
That said, neither the U.S. nor the British military took direct action to liberate Auschwitz during the war. Nor did they bomb the train lines to the death camps, or bomb the camps themselves, as Jewish leaders had implored.
When the Soviets finally entered Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, only 7,000 prisoners remained alive. More than 1.1 million had already been exterminated.
Why didn’t Washington and London take decisive action upon receiving detailed, inside intelligence? Couldn’t they have at least tried to stop the Holocaust, or at least disrupt it, knowing the hellish nightmare people in the camps were experiencing?
Historians have been debating this for years. Yet the issues are not academic. Today, our leaders also face urgent questions.
Let’s consider just one. Iran has threatened to “wipe Israel off the map.” It has threatened to create world without the “Great Satan” (aka, the U.S.), as well. The mullahs are actively developing the ability to build nuclear warheads and the missiles to deliver them.
Do we currently have inside sources giving us accurate intelligence on the state of Iran’s nuclear program? If diplomacy and sanctions fail, should the West take military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities before the mullahs can set into motion a Second Holocaust?
Rather than attack ourselves, should the U.S. support an Israeli preemptive strike? What are the risks of launching such a strike? What are the risks of delay?
Would history forgive us if we wait too long and Iran strikes first?
The moral courage that Rudolf Vrba, Alfred Wetzler, Arnost Rosin, and Czeslaw Mordowicz demonstrated seventy years ago was extraordinary. They understood the nature and threat of evil, and they risked their lives to tell the world the truth.
They deserve to be remembered and heralded by Jews and Christians and all who care about freedom and human dignity.
We must never forget what they did, and why they did it. But we must also be ready to act wisely, bravely and decisively if a mortal threat rises again. For if we learn nothing else from the history of the Holocaust, we had better learn this: Evil, unchecked, is the prelude to genocide.

Prophetic Word: God Wants to Direct You in a Clear Pathway Right Now - BOBBY CONNER CHARISMA NEWS

Prophetic Word: God Wants to Direct You in a Clear Pathway Right Now

BOBBY CONNER  CHARISMA NEWS
Now it's time for the good news. God desires to direct His people in a clear pathway. This marvelous promise is given to us in Nehemiah 9:12: "By day You led them with a pillar of cloud, and by night with a pillar of fire to light the way for them to go."
There is more good news. If our lives are thoroughly yielded to Christ the King—in a sanctified spirit, soul and body—we can expect ever-increasing light (see Isa. 60:2).
The way to access this divine light and then maintain His great peace is to prayerfully study the Holy Bible. Consider this promise in Psalm 119:165: "Those who love Your law have great peace, and nothing shall cause them to stumble."
In these days of deep deception, we must have true discernment to distinguish good from evil and evil from good. This discernment is given to us freely and generously by God's Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Psalm 119:104-105 says, "Through Your precepts I receive understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
This truth is amplified again in Psalm 119:130: "The giving of Your words gives light; it grants understanding to the simple."
Open your heart to let God's light permeate the darkest regions of your mind, will, and emotions—to sanctify them and wash them by His Word and Spirit, bringing your entire spirit, soul, and body into alignment with Christ Himself (see Eph. 1:17-18). His will is to be your will. His emotions should be your emotions. His thoughts should be your thoughts. Only as our souls are sanctified—through repentance—and thus come into agreement with the Word of God will we discover the direction we seek.
God is preparing overcomers—confident, bold, brave and mature children of God who fully manifest His love and will on the earth. Let your thirsty soul drink deep from these powerful prophetic promises that are revealed in Psalm 18:28-36: "For You will cause my lamp to shine; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap a wall. As for God, His way has integrity; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all those who take refuge in Him. For who is God except the Lord? Or who is a rock besides our God? It is God who clothes me with strength, and gives my way integrity. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and causes me to stand on my high places. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms bend a bow of bronze. You have given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand has held me up, and Your gentleness has made me great. You have lengthened my stride under me, so that my feet did not slip."
Stand Strong on a Firm Foundation in a Shaky World
Give close attention to the last phrase of Psalm 18:36: "You have lengthened my stride under me, so that my feet did not slip." This promise is to those who are walking in God's light, those who are covered by God's powerful shield of protection. God promises to give us a firm foundation in shaky times, and He also promises to make our feet like those of a mountain deer, able to not only stand on this firm foundation, but scale the highest heights of the Spirit—above the chaos of this world. Christ warns us that if we build our lives on shifting sands, instead of the solid rock of God's Word, we can expect devastation (see Matt.7:24-29).
The Spirit of God has set before us guidelines for releasing divine wisdom to us in order to help us navigate safely during these dark, dangerous days. What is the pathway to true divine wisdom? It's not a process or a pattern or a methodology—but a person, Christ Jesus (see John 8:12). The light and wisdom we seek are not to be found in human programs or our own psyche and good intentions, but rather in the person of Christ Jesus. Consider Psalm 36:9: "For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light." Meditate on Psalm 18:28-31 as shared above.
Ask for God's Grace and Guidance
The first step out of darkness and despair is simply asking for God's grace and guidance. Sincerely seek His direction and His will above your own. We must desire to walk in God's light (see 1 John 1:5). Asking is key; we have not because we ask not. If we ask, we shall receive. As we seek, we shall find; it is as sure as the sun rising in the morning (see Luke 11:9). God is faithful to His Word. He is generous beyond what anyone can imagine, and our generous, loving, and kindhearted Father longs to release superb wisdom to each of His children.
You are not the exception. Believe what the Scripture says in James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him."
The Spirit of God said to me, "I have good news for you to share with God's people!" I was so encouraged by His words. God then declared: "I am preparing to answer Paul's prayer recorded in Colossians."
I also encourage you to study this outstanding prayer in Colossians 1:6-12:
Which has come to you, as it has in all the world, and brings forth fruit, as it has also in you, since the day you heard it and knew the grace of God in truth. And you also learned of Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ for you, who also declared to us your love in the Spirit. For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing to all, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, enduring everything with perseverance and patience joyfully, giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled us to be partakers in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Join Paul in his prayer, asking to be invigorated and strengthened with all power so that you may bear fruit in every good work and steadily grow and increase in fuller, deeper and clearer insights into the ways and works of God!
Stand Strong
It is imperative that we all take a strong stand. We must make up our minds to not continue to stumble about in the confusion that seems to gridlock this culture. Rather, we must walk with God-given goals and aims and His divine purpose. We're not to be vague, thoughtless and distracted during these days. We can and must discover great guidance and guidelines for living day by day, possessing the wisdom that God is offering to us.
Paul, in Ephesians 5:15-17, offers the church a most severe warning: "See then that you walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise men, making the most of the time because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is."
God's promises of continual guidance and provision are sure. In Nehemiah 9:20, He says, "You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst." God will direct you as you yield and follow. Don't attempt to lean on your own human understanding. This is simply not good enough. Determine in your heart to cast off every weight and pull down every high thing, every thought and imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (see 2 Cor. 10:5), and choose to fully follow the ways of God.
In Psalm 32:8, the Lord again makes this promise of guidance: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye on you." The Holy Spirit, the revealer of genuine truth, the upright guide, will give clear direction as we seek Him and wait upon His guidance.
Consider John 16:13: "But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own authority. But He will speak whatever He hears, and He will tell you things that are to come."
The last phrase is extremely significant for today: "... and He will tell you things that are to come." The entire world seems to be seeking this revelation, asking, "What does the future hold?" As followers of Christ the King, we have the answers! However, we must hear the warning from Jesus in Luke 21:34: "Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts become burdened by excessiveness and drunkenness and anxieties of life, and that Day comes on you unexpectedly."
We must position ourselves in the place of purity and humility so that the Lord may entrust us with this impartation of divine wisdom—the wisdom from above. Ask God to release a greater wisdom, as we are instructed to do in James 1:5. Ask the Holy Spirit of God to awaken your heart and life to respond to these critical times. It is truly the time to awaken to the reality of the kingdom. It is time to heed this warning of Romans 13:11-14. The night is far gone and the day is almost here!
"Furthermore, knowing the time, now is the moment to awake from sleep. For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us take off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly, as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in immorality and wickedness, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts" (Rom. 13:11-14).
We must clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and make absolutely no provision for the flesh. Let us sanctify our hearts this day before the Lord and look up, for our redemption draws nigh.

Israel Remembers - David Lazarus ISRAEL TODAY

Israel Remembers

Sunday, April 23, 2017 |  David Lazarus  ISRAEL TODAY
Tomorrow begins a week of memory and commemoration in Israel. April 24 is Holocaust Memorial Day, and next week on May 1 begins Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers concluding with the celebrations of Independence Day on May 2.
I have often wondered why we spend so much time reliving these heartbreaking events? Surely the people who lived through these traumas do not need a day to remember, they live everyday with memories.
During memorial days my grandfather would take me to visit the graves of his friends and loved ones. He pointed out the people he knew from the town where he grew up; a man who helped build the local synagogue, the butcher who lived across from the Jewish community center. Each grave marked with a Jewish star represented a unique life, a life that had left its mark on my grandfather.
In honoring these people, my grandfather left an indelible mark on me. I was reminded that we stand here today because of the sacrifices of so many who are no longer with us.
Tomorrow in Israel we will join in commemorative memorials across the country, in schools, at war monuments and in cemeteries. Tears will be shed, prayers prayed and stones placed on graves with flags raised in honor of those we have lost in wars and a holocaust over the past century. Friends and family will come together to tell the stories and recall the bravery, and the pain, of loved ones we can never forget.
Soon, in just a few short years, there will not be any survivors left to tell their stories. We feel their absence, for they are no longer here to give us direction, fill leadership roles in our communities, or extend comforting hugs.
This week, as we marvel at the spring season of rebirth, it is good that we also find time to renew the memory of the untold sacrifices of those who made it possible for us to enjoy our lives. It is good that we bring our children to Memorial Day events, read the names on the plaques and think about the families that were forever changed by the lives and the losses of their loved ones, and shake the hand of a young soldier in appreciation.
They have earned our eternal gratitude.
