For the rows of bread, for the regular meal offering and for the regular burnt offering, for those of the Shabbatot, new moons, festivals, for consecrations, for sin offerings to atone for Yisrael Nehemiah 10:34 (The Israel Bible™) לְלֶחֶם הַמַּעֲרֶכֶת וּמִנְחַת הַתָּמִיד וּלְעוֹלַת הַתָּמִיד הַשַּׁבָּתוֹת הֶחֳדָשִׁים לַמּוֹעֲדִים וְלַקֳּדָשִׁים וְלַחַטָּאוֹת לְכַפֵּר עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל Hear the verse in Hebrew l’-LE-khem ha-ma-a-RE-khet u-min-KHAT ha-ta-MEED ul-o-LAT ha-ta-MEED ha-sha-ba-TOT he-kho-da-SHEEM la-mo-a-DEEM v’-la-ko-da-SHEEM v’-la-kha-TOT l’-kha-PAYR al yis-ra-AYL Atonement Through Prayer The last ten verses of this chapter of Nehemiah focus on reviving the sacrificial obligations. The word for ’sacrifice’ or ‘offering,’ korban (קרבן), indicates its true purpose. Korban comes from the word karov (קרוב) which means ‘close'. The korban facilitates a close relationship between man and Hashem (God). Although the korbanot can only be brought in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem), the core idea behind them is timeless and universal, intended for all humanity. In the absence of the Beit Hamikdash (Holy Temple)  and its sacrifices, we use prayer as a means of coming close to our Father in Heaven. As the verse is Hoshea says “Instead of bulls we will pay the offering of our lips” (Hosea 14:3). Pictured above is the sanctuary of the historical Hurva Synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem. So an Arab Christian was walking along the beach in Haifa and upon hearing loud voices, he approached an unlikely group of Arab Muslims and Haredim - ultra-Orthodox Jews.  The Muslims had shown the Haredim our Isaiah 53 video and were trying to tell them about Yeshua!  Once the Arab Christian understood what was happening he began to speak with them all, explaining who Yeshua really is. They were all on the beach talking about Yeshua for over four hours!  Afterwards this young man tracked down our son, Ariel and when he heard about the team that goes out to share Messiah on a regular basis, he said, "Count me in!"    What a privilege to pray for and support these young Israelis who are actively sharing their faith! And all the people said, "His blood shall be on us and on our children." He had heard from our daughter that I'm a Messianic Jew so he asked me about this very openly and we had a wonderful conversation about Messiah!  Praise G-d for divine appointments!
