From the Soles of His Shoes: Obama's Hostility Toward Israel

Monday, December 26, 2016 |  Tsvi Sadan  ISRAEL TODAY
Benjamin Netanyahu's outrage over President Obama's final attempt to harm Israel is justified.
Shortly before lighting the first candle of Hanukkah commemorating the rededication of the Temple over 2,000 years ago, Netanyahu attacked the American, saying that "the Obama administration carried out a shameful anti-Israel ploy at the UN."
So it was that on the eve of Hanukkah, the UN Security Council approved yet another anti-Israel resolution, which says among other things that the international community "reaffirms that the establishment by Israel of settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-state solution and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace."
Such a resolution is nothing new, as Israel is repeatedly condemned by this institution. What's new is not only Obama's blatant refusal to honor his written commitment to stand by Israel at the UN. It is also safe to assume from Netanyahu's response that Obama was the instigator of said resolution. "We knew that this [shameful ploy] is possible and we expected that it will come," the Israeli said.
Netanyahu's opponents at home insist this was Obama's payback for his hostility toward the American president. But this explanation contradicts all those who kept emphasizing that the Obama administration is not motivated by feelings, but by American interests, including maintaining a strong alliance with Israel.
If this is the case, and I think it is, Obama's part in concocting this anti-Israel resolution, which goes so far as to call the Western Wall an occupied place, represents American interests, which are now evidently opposed to the interests of the State Israel as represented by Israel's Prime Minister.
Obama's hostility toward Israel was played out before. Well remembered is the angry 2009 phone conversation between the two leaders, after which the White House released a picture with the soles of Obama's shoes on full display. For the uninformed, it simply shows the president in a relaxed posture. But those more familiar with the Arab world know it was a carefully-calculated effort to humiliate Netanyahu. For Israel's Arab foes, showing the sole of one's shoe is an insult of the highest degree.
Obama's resentment toward Israel has come out on numerous other occasions, including the suspension of weapons shipments during the 2014 military campaign against Gaza.
The proximity between Hanukkah and Obama's final attempt to harm Israel is peculiar, to say the least. Jews across the world are now lighting the Menorah for eight days, during which they sing the ancient poem of Maoz Tzur Yeshuati (my refuge and rock of salvation). This poem reminds us that:
Furiously they assailed us,
But Thine arm availed us,
And Thy word broke their sword,
When our own strength failed us.

"New Spiritual Gifts For the Christmas Season!"by Doug Addison, Los Angeles, CA

God spoke to me that this is going to be a significant Christmas season! I had a vision from the Lord on Christmas morning last year that changed the course of my life. God told me that this is going to happen to people everywhere this year as well.

Get ready for God to speak to you during this Christmas season. You can expect prophetic dreams and supernatural encounters to be on the increase this month! I seriously feel like a kid waiting for Christmas looking forward to the good things that are going to come!

God is releasing new spiritual gifts this year during and after the holiday season. This is to get us ready for what is coming in 2017.

"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy."
1 Corinthians 14:1 NIV

Prophetic Word for You

I hear the Lord saying to you:
"It is going to be a special Christmas this year for you. I am repaying you for the years of loss, tears and pain. The desires of your heart will unfold in 2017. I am positioning you to help bring understanding to this season so you can see how your losses and setbacks on Earth are your gain in Heaven.
My love for you has been great. I have captured your tears and your cries have not gone unnoticed. You are about to be freed up to serve Me. A new season is coming of health, along with an increased healing anointing. You will receive financial blessings and your crossing over to this new season will happen fast. I am with you, so do not give up."
How to Respond

Do what you need to do to not give up in tough times. Pray and remind God of the promises you have over your life. Do practical things that bring you closer to God, such as praying, worshiping, taking communion, reading the Bible or simply walking and connecting with God.
Positioning yourself involves getting deeper healing, growing in intimacy, learning to love and coming into agreement with God’s will and ways for your life. It may also mean you will change the people you are hanging around. It is time to move upward, so find people who are on the same path and who bring encouragement to you.

Get ready to do what it takes to align yourself to receive in this new season. If necessary, and when God confirms these things, then expect to see changes in your living situation, job changes, church affiliations, business partnerships or whatever God shows you for 2017.

Watch for the spiritual atmosphere to open over you and for your ability to hear the Lord start to increase starting this week. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)

Merry Christmas!

Benjamin Netanyahu - Response to UN Vote 12.24.16

Citizens of Israel, I would like to reassure you. The resolution that was adopted yesterday at the United Nations is distorted and shameful but we will overcome it. The resolution determines that the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem is 'occupied territory'. This is delusional.
The resolution determines that the Western Wall is 'occupied territory'. This too is delusional. There is nothing more absurd than calling the Western Wall and the Jewish Quarter occupied territory. There is also an attempt here, which will not succeed, to impose permanent settlement terms on Israel. You might recall that the last one who tried to do this was Carter, an extremely hostile president to Israel, and who just recently said that Hamas is not a terrorist organization. Carter passed sweeping decisions against us at the UN of a similar kind, and this was also unsuccessful. We opposed this and nothing happened.
All American presidents since Carter upheld the American commitment not to try to dictate permanent settlement terms to Israel at the Security Council. And yesterday, in complete contradiction of this commitment, including an explicit commitment by President Obama himself in 2011, the Obama administration carried out a shameful anti-Israel ploy at the UN.
I would like to tell you that the resolution that was adopted, not only doesn't bring peace closer, it drives it further away. It hurts justice; it hurts the truth. Think about this absurdity, half a million human beings are being slaughtered in Syria. Tens of thousands are being butchered in Sudan. The entire Middle East is going up in flames and the Obama administration and the Security Council choose to gang up on the only democracy in the Middle East – the State of Israel. What a disgrace.
My friends, I would like to tell you on the first night of Chanukah that this will not avail them. We reject this resolution outright, just as we rejected the UN resolution that determined that Zionism was racism. It took time but that resolution was rescinded; it will take time but this one will also be rescinded. Now I will tell you how it will be rescinded. It will be rescinded not because of our retreats but because of our steadfastness and that of our allies. I remind you that we withdrew from Gaza, uprooted communities and took people out of their graves. Did this help us at all at the UN? Did this improve our relations at the UN? We were hit with thousands of rockets and at the UN we were hit with the Goldstone report!
So I will tell you what is clear, I know, to the vast majority of Israeli citizens: We learned this lesson, and we will not go there. But I also want to tell you something else: We are not alone. I spoke last night with many American leaders. I was pleased to hear from members of the American Congress, from Democrats and Republicans alike, that they will fight an all-out war against this resolution with all the power at their disposal. I heard the exact same things from our friends in the incoming administration, who said that they will fight an all-out war against this resolution. And I heard this from across the spectrum of American public opinion and American politics – Republicans, Democrats, Jews and non-Jews. As I spoke yesterday with leaders in Congress and the incoming American administration, they told me unequivocally: 'We are sick of this and it will not continue. We will change this resolution. We will not allow anyone to harm the State of Israel.' They are declaring their intention to pass legislation to punish countries and bodies that try to harm Israel. They say that this will also include the UN itself. I remind you that the UN receives a quarter, 25%, of its budget from the US alone.
In my most recent speech to the UN, in September, I said that a storm was expected in the UN before it gets better there. We knew that this is possible and we expect that it will come. The resolution that was passed at the UN yesterday is part of the swan song of the old world that is biased against Israel, but, my friends, we are entering a new era. And just as President-elect Trump said yesterday, it will happen much sooner than you think. In the new era there is a much higher price for those who try to harm Israel, and that the price will be exacted not only by the US, but by Israel as well.
Two countries with which we have diplomatic relations cosponsored the resolution against us at the UN; therefore, I ordered yesterday that our ambassadors be recalled from, Senegal and from New Zealand. I have ordered that all Israeli assistance to Senegal be halted, and there's more to come. Those who work with us will benefit because Israel has much to give to the countries of the world. But those who work against us will lose – because there will be a diplomatic and economic price for their actions against Israel. Additionally, I have instructed the Foreign Ministry to complete, within a month, a reassessment of all of our contacts with the UN, including Israeli financing of UN institutions and the presence of UN representatives in the country. But I am not waiting; already now I have ordered to halt approximately NIS 30 million in financing for five UN institutions, five UN bodies that are especially hostile to Israel. I have already ordered that this be stopped, and there is more to come.
We are on a campaign of improving our relations with the nations of the world. And it will take more time, and I have said this as well, until our improved relations with countries on five continents are also reflected in their decisions in UN institutions. But I would like to tell you something else, and listen closely to what I'm saying. Contrary to what you might expect, it is very likely that last night's scandalous resolution will accelerate this process, because it is the straw that broke the camel's back. Last night's resolution is a call to arms for all of our many friends in the US and elsewhere around the world, friends who are sick of the UN's hostility toward Israel, and they intend to bring about a fundamental change in the UN. Therefore, this evening I tell you in the language of our sources, the sweet will yet come forth from the bitter and those who come to curse will yet bless.
Here, on the first night of Chanukah, I stand next to the Maccabees of our times, IDF soldiers and wounded IDF heroes. I salute you and I say to you clearly: The light will dispel the darkness. The spirit of the Maccabees will overcome. Happy Chanukah.

Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas

At this special season, with Hanukkah and Christmas occurring at the same time, we continue to stand strong for Israel, no matter what the UN or any other deceived and delusional people do.

Yeshua (Jesus) is the Light of the World, and He outshines all. His light of protection and eternal promise to the Jews and believers overcomes that which rises against Him and His people.

Because of His prophesied fulfillment of His first coming, we know that He will come again, not as a child but as the Lion of Judah.

To Him all glory and honor belong.

With our love,

Holding Bible, Israeli Ambassador Slams UN Security Council

Sunday, December 25, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, gave an impassioned and biblical response to the Security Council’s passing of a resolution denying Jews the right to live in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem.
The vote took place just a day before Hanukkah. Danon noted that if the Greek overlords of the time couldn’t keep down the Jews, then neither can today’s UN.

Joel Rosenberg: Reflections of an Israeli who celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas.

merrychristmas-hanukkah

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

A few things I’m thankful for this holiday season. (Reflections of an Israeli who celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas.)

by joelcrosenberg
True, there aren't many people in the world who celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas.
But as a person of Jewish heritage on my father's side, and as a follower of Jesus the Messiah, I am one of them.
This year actually marks the third Hanukkah and Christmas season that I've had the joy and opportunity to celebrate both holidays as an Israeli citizen. And I must tell you I find it fascinating to live in a country where Jesus was actually born, where He ministered to the poor and forgotten, where He was crucified and raised on the third day -- and yet a country where by and large Christmas is not celebrated.
Israel is not an easy place to live. It's been quite challenging for Lynn and our four sons and I to move to a new country and acclimate to a new language and culture. But as these two holidays converge this year, and as I reflect on the past few years, I am profoundly thankful and grateful.
Here are a few reasons why:
  • I'm thankful for the amazing opportunity the Lord has given Lynn and me to be able to live and raise our family and write novels in the land where the Hebrew prophets, priests and kings lived, the very land where Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) and His disciples lived and ministered and transformed the world.
  • I'm thankful for the wonderful friends and neighbors that we have found in Israel, along with physical safety, economic opportunity, robust democracy and extraordinary religious freedom we have found there. Most Jews in Israel -- and nearly every Jewish person in the government and in the court system -- don't believe what we believe, and yet they truly defend our right to assemble and worship and fully practice our beliefs without interference. That's no small thing.
  • I'm so thankful to live in the world's only Jewish State that also works hard to protect the political and religious freedoms of her Arab citizens -- Christians, Muslims, agnostics, atheists and others -- and grants Arab citizens the right to vote, has Arabs who serve in the Knesset, serve in the police and military, even serve on the Supreme Court, and are vital and valued members of the society.
  • I'm thankful to be able to live in a nation that is an oasis of freedom and security in a region that's on fire.
  • I'm thankful for all the Evangelical and Messianic Jews we have met and had the joy of becoming friends with throughout the Land, including so many pastors and ministry leaders and their wives and kids.
  • I'm thankful for all the dear Palestinians that Lynn and I have had the honor of meeting and befriending in recent years, especially the Evangelical pastors and ministry leaders and their wives and children living in the West Bank and in Gaza.
  • I'm very thankful for the opportunity to travel to visit our neighbors in Jordan not once but twice this year, including five extraordinary and special days with King Abdullah II and his advisors, such an amazing visit that Lynn and I will always cherish.
  • I'm deeply thankful for our Joshua Fund team who are so faithful in blessing Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus, according to Genesis 12:1-3.
  • I'm thankful for the Holy Scriptures -- the very words of the living God -- whom the Jewish and Christian scribes have so carefully and courageously copied and transmitted to us down through the ages.
  • I'm thankful for the ancient Hebrew prophets like Micah who told us exactly where the Messiah would one day be born so we wouldn't have to wonder or worry about it. "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” (Micah 5:2)
  • I'm thankful for the ancient Hebrew prophets like Isaiah who told us the Messiah would live and minister in the Galilee region, bring light to those in darkness, come as a human baby boy, but also be El Gibor -- Mighty God -- and the One who would bring forgiveness and thus peace between us and God. "In earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make it glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles....The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them....For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:1-6)
  • I'm deeply thankful for all of our family and friends back in the States who have prayed for us, encouraged us, and even come to visit us in Israel over the past few years -- and so grateful that we could come back to spend the holiday season with them this year.
  • Above us, I am thankful to the God of Israel -- and His Son, Yeshua -- who has shown such mercy to me and my family, showered us with His grace and even adopted us into His royal family.
So on behalf of my family and our dear friends and colleagues at The Joshua Fund, allow me to wish our Jewish and Israeli friends a very Happy Hanukkah season -- and to all of our friends who are followers of Jesus, allow me to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
