Ibn Mesud was a child soldier in ISIS, serving in the Cubs of the Caliphate. In this video clip he speaks about the hypocrisy inside ISIS — of guards and ISIS cadres having one set of rules for themselves and another harsh one for the civilians they rule. His story includes post-traumatic grief and emotional suffering as a result of taking part in beheadings and other crimes against humanity.

Albert Einstein Wanted to Know 'God's Thoughts' - So What Does God Think About Israel?
Oct. 16, 2017 CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Twentieth century physicist Albert Einstein, perhaps best known for his theories on relativity (E = mc2), once said, "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details."
Thankfully, God's thoughts have been recorded for us in the canon of Scripture: 66 books, written by 40 ent authors over a period of 1,500 years. Not one word is irrelevant or haphazard. The more we study it, the more profound its life-changing message.
But setting aside time to study the Word can be enormously challenging in today's busy world. Many verses speak of His covenant with Israel.
"But I am the Lord your God Who divided the sea whose waves roared, the Lord of hosts is His name. And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth and say to Zion, 'You are My people.'" (Isaiah 51:15-16)
It's been said we inherit the world's system by default, but understanding God's point of view takes more effort on our part. It comes by meditating on His Word and allowing it to reshape our thinking and draw us closer to Him. When we see people and events through the Word, it's a whole new perspective – very different than what's found in the media, especially when it comes to Israel.
"Remember these, O Jacob and Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you." (Isaiah 44:21-22)
In today's tumultuous world, there seems to be more bad news than good. Media vies for our attention, often capitalizing on the bad news.
That reality is never more evident than in stories about Israel. There's no lack of explanations as to why Israel and the Jewish people have been targeted throughout the centuries. Yet despite sincere efforts by many, that predisposition doesn't appear to be diminishing.
So we're left with a choice. We can believe the media or we can believe God.
If we believe God will bring to fruition all that He's purposed, then we can bring everything before Him in prayer and trust the outcome to Him. Our challenge is to want His will to be done, His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
God set Israel apart from the rest of the nations and He will fulfill everything He's promised His covenant land and people.
"Hear the word of the Lord, O nations and declare it in the isles afar off and say, 'For the Lord has redeemed Jacob and ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he.' Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of the Lord – for wheat and new wine and oil, for the young of the flock and the herd; their souls shall be like a well-watered garden and they shall sorrow no more at all. (Jeremiah 31:10-12)

The Famine and the Harvest

The prophet Amos was an old shepherd farmer who lived at a time when people were satisfied with the status quo. He was a contemporary of many of the Old Testament's major prophets, who lived 700 years before Jesus. Amos was from the southern kingdom of Judah, but he preached to the northern kingdom. The northern kingdom had wealth and prosperity, which led them to become resistant to a holy lifestyle. The people had cast off all restraint and had no desire to make sacrifices to God. Their altars were broken down. Amos says they were like a basket of fruit that was easily destroyed. It was a dark time in the history of God's people, and Amos saw destruction coming. He prophesied a shaking in the land.

"The time is coming," says the Lord God, when I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread ,nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord" (Amos 8:11).

Does this sound familiar? It does to us. We are living in the kind of desperate times in America. As the prophet Amos said, we are in a famine of hearing the word of the Lord. Once again God's people are in need of voices of truth to arise and declare His holy precepts over our land. The worst thing that could happen to our nation would be for God to turn us over to ourselves. I believe we are very close to that happening unless we are willing to let the famine compel us to build an altar once again.

Amos saw God standing at the altar bringing forth judgment (see Amos 9:1). Because there was a famine in the people's hearts of the word of the Lord; calamity was coming. Satisfying their selfish desires had displaced their hunger for God. But God did not want to leave His people in this place of calamity. read more
