Israelis Pleased by Trump's Rejection of Palestinian Refugee Demands - Israel Today

Israelis Pleased by Trump's Rejection of Palestinian Refugee Demands

Sunday, September 02, 2018 |  Israel Today Staff
Various surveys and newspaper columns by leading journalists revealed that most Israelis are pleased by US President Donald Trump's moves to delegitimize the Palestinian refugee issue.
Amnon Lord, who writes for the free daily newspaper Israel Hayom, hailed Trump for "continuing his policies that break old concepts and stick to the truth."
Ben-Dror Yemini, a columnist for Israel's largest paid daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, echoed the sentiment: "After almost 70 years of the large refugee scam, the time for change has come."
Trump announced last week that he will be cutting all US funding of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), established solely to address the Palestinian refugee issue, though in its decades of existence all it has accomplished is to multiply the number of Palestinian refugees by taking the unprecedented step of making that status hereditary.
According to Trump, the history books and the rules of status applied to every other refugee population, there should be no more than 500,000 genuine Palestinian refugees today.
Even that number irks many Israelis, who note that a similar number of Jews were forced to flee surrounding Arab nations between 1948-1972, and not one of them was ever recognized by the UN as a refugee, nor was a special agency established to address their needs.
The bottom line is that Trump wants to conclude a peace deal, and, unlike previous American presidents, he understands that no Israeli government will ever be able to sign an agreement that involves opening the Jewish state to five million new potential Arab citizens. That's why, along with control of Jerusalem, the Palestinian "right of return" has been one of the major sticking point in peace negotiations for decades, even when left-wing Israeli governments were in power.
But the Palestinian leadership most assuredly does not see things Trump's way, and has vowed to turn to the United Nations to block the American administration's new policy.
Of course, there is little the UN can do to prevent Trump from cutting off American funding for UNRWA, or his diplomatic pressure on allied nations to do the same.

Archaeologists Believe They Found the Site of Jesus' First Recorded Miracle - TRE GOINS-PHILLIPS/FAITHWIRE

(jplenio/Pixabay)
Archaeologists have, for hundreds of years, believed they knew exactly where Jesus performed his first recorded miracle—turning water into wine—but new discoveries are now calling the location into question.
According to John 2, Jesus performed the miracle during a wedding at Cana. When the wine ran out during the celebration, the son of God transformed the water into wine in what is believed to be, according to the biblical account, his first miracle.
Archaeologists are, based on new research, now confident the real site of the miracle—in Cana—is actually on a hillside five miles farther north of the previously understood location in Israel, The Daily Mail reported

This Commonplace Sin Can Destroy Your Relationship With God

JOYCE MEYER  CHARISMA NEWS
Complaining is dangerous business. It can damage or even destroy your relationship with God, your relationships with other people and even your relationship with yourself.
It's easy to complain. We likely don't realize how much we do it, and I believe it's one of the most challenging things to overcome.
Philippians 2:14 (NKJV) says, "Do all things without murmuring and disputing." That's a pretty clear command. And not something anyone can do in their own strength.
Think about what you're talking about.
It's important to understand that every word you speak has some kind of effect. Proverbs 18:21 says that our words have the power of life or death in them. In other words, the way we speak really does matter. So it makes sense that we should avoid complaining at all cost.
I think of complaining as the enemy's language. When we do it, we open the door for him to come into a situation and cause trouble. On the other hand, praise and thanksgiving is God's language.
Like I said before, it's easy to complain. There are many things that happen every day that we could murmur about if we let ourselves go there. But they really aren't worth the effort it takes to get upset and gripe about it.
For example, we travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels. I like to take a hot bath to relax before speaking at our conferences. Once when I went to fix my bath, I discovered there was no hot water. So I called the front desk to see about getting hot water, but they weren't able to fix the problem when I needed them to. And later, I learned that my room was the only room in the hotel that didn't have hot water!
Now, I could have gotten all upset about this at the time. But God helped me to relax and resist the temptation to get upset. And the truth is, complaining wouldn't have changed anything—it would have just made the situation harder.
Check the attitude of your heart.
Complaining comes from an ungrateful, prideful attitude of the heart. It causes us to feel that we shouldn't be inconvenienced or have bad things happen to us.
It's easy for us to think, Why are you making such a big deal out of it? when someone else is inconvenienced or struggling. But when we have to deal with the pain ourselves, it's a different story. That's when we say, "Why is this happening to me?"
Many people in the Western world are spoiled by the conveniences of our culture. We're used to instant gratification, getting what we want when we want it. We don't like discomfort or sacrifice. We don't want anything to be hard. This causes us to have an immature, selfish perspective of difficult situations and say things we shouldn't say.
I've learned that there's a better approach: Look for the treasure in every trial.
The truth is, I've done most of my spiritual growing during the hardest and most painful times of my life. The trials of life have caused me to press in to God. And as I've done that, He's changed me. He's helped me to develop an attitude of gratitude and humility, which has brought real freedom into my life.
What's real freedom? Real freedom is being able to not have my way and still be just as happy as if I did.
Trust God throughout the process.
It's a difficult process getting to the point of having real freedom. But whatever it takes to get there, it's worth it! We just need to accept that gaining spiritual maturity is going to hurt. Growing up in God is not comfortable, and there are times that sacrifice is required. There will be times when God will ask you to do things and you'll feel that you just don't have the strength to do them—but whatever God tells us to do, He always gives us the grace to do it!
Something else that helps me is meditating on Scriptures about watching the words of my mouth. I like to pray Psalm 19:14a (NKJV): "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord." There are many more, and I encourage you to find them and pray them over yourself often. Daily is a good idea!
Make it your goal to have a constant attitude of gratitude. Resist the temptation to complain and instead praise and thank God for who He is and all He's done for you. By God's grace and through His strength, you can overcome complaining and live each day with a thankful heart!

11 Rage-Inducing Facts About America’s Wildly Out Of Control Student Loan Debt Bubble - Michael Snyder

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 Michael Snyder

Higher education has become one of the biggest money-making scams in America.  We tell all of our young people that if they want to have a bright future, they must go to college.  This message is relentlessly pounded into their heads for their first 18 years, and so by the time high school graduation rolls around for many of them it would be unthinkable to do anything else.  And instead of doing a cost/benefit analysis on various schools, we tell our young people to go to the best college that they can possibly get into and to not worry about what it will cost.  We assure them that a great job will be there after they graduate and that great job will allow them to easily pay off any student loans that they have accumulated.  Of course most college graduates don’t end up getting great jobs, but many of them do end up being financially crippled for decades by student loan debt.

In all of American history, we have never seen anything quite like this student loan debt bubble.  Since 2007, the total amount of student loan debt in America has nearly tripled.

Let me repeat that again. Since 2007, the total amount of student loan debt in America has nearly tripled.

But of course the quality of college education has not tripled over that time.  Instead, it has progressively gotten worse.  At this point most college courses have been so “dumbed down” that the family pet could pass them.  If you would like to look into this more, you can find a list of 37 of the most idiotic college courses in America right here.

These days, most college courses do not require any actual writing.  Instead, your performance is judged by a series of “tests” consisting of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and true/false questions.  And the questions are usually ridiculously easy, because most of our high school graduates need to take remedial courses in basic skills when they get to college.
I spent eight years at public universities, and the quality of education that I received was a joke, and that was many years ago.  Now the quality of education has deteriorated so dramatically that most college degrees are essentially worthless from a practical standpoint, but for many professions you still need that “piece of paper” in order to “qualify” for certain jobs.

So the scam continues, and thousands upon thousands of “administrators”, “diversity specialists”, “career counselors” and “college presidents” are taking home massively bloated salaries at our expense.  Beautiful new lecture halls, residential complexes and sports stadiums are going up at colleges and universities all over the country, and textbook publishers are laughing all the way to the bank.

If everything but the basics was stripped away, the cost of actually delivering a college education to students would be quite low.  In fact, most learning could be done over the Internet.

But instead, the “college education industry” has convinced all of us that we desperately need their services, and that we shouldn’t care about the price.

Of course many of our young people are filled with regret once they get out into the real world and they realize that student loan debt is going to financially cripple them for the rest of their lives.

At this moment, America is drowning in more student loan debt than ever before.  The following are 11 rage-inducing facts about America’s wildly out of control student loan debt bubble…

#1 The student loan debt bubble has now grown to 1.4 trillion dollars.
#2 In 2007, the total amount of student loan debt in the U.S. was just 545 billion dollars.
#3 Over the previous ten years, student loan debt has grown by a staggering 176 percent.
#4 Americans now owe more on their student loans than they do on their credit cards.
#5 In 2003, student loan debt accounted for just 3.3 percent of all household debt.  Today, that number has grown to 10.5 percent.
#6 The current student loan 90-day delinquency rate is 11.2 percent.
#7 30 percent of all student loans in the United States are either in “deferment” or “forbearance”.  The most common reason a loan is placed into one of those categories is because the borrower cannot pay.
#8 It is being projected that a whopping 40 percent all student loan borrowers will default on their loans by 2023.
#9 From 2007 through 2017, “college tuition costs jumped 63 percent, school housing surged 51 percent and the price of textbooks by 88 percent.”
#10 In 2001, 18.6 percent of all U.S. households led by someone in the 18 to 34 age bracket were carrying household debt.  Today, that number has jumped to 44.8 percent.
#11 Each year, more than a million Americans default on their student loans.

Wounds by a loved one are long lasting;
The kisses of an enemy are profuse

An Important Life Lesson

With a trusted friend, even actions that seem hurtful ultimately turn out to be beneficial. A well-timed reprimand from someone who loves you can guide you to a better course of action. An enemy, however, should not be trusted. Even if he appears to offer love and support, he will ultimately lead you astray. This idea is reflected in the words of the prophets who rebuke the Israelites for putting their trust in other nations, such as Assyria and Egypt, instead of Hashem (God). Ultimately, they were let down by their enemies who determined they had nothing more to gain from the Jewish people.
