Shalom!
"At that time, they were celebrating the feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon." (John 10:22-23)
Hanukkah, the Feast of Dedication, will begin on Tuesday evening. The story behind the feast and how it started is quite interesting, as well as the meaning for us today. It is a story of Israel, Jerusalem and the temple, as well as a time of miracles, purification and rededication.

JERUSALEM, YESTERDAY AND TODAY
President Trump's important speech has caused shockwaves around the world. Jerusalem is once again at the center of worldwide controversy (but not for the last time - see Zechariah 12:2-3). President Trump's statement is similar to President Harry S. Truman's declaration 70 years ago, when Truman recognized the State of Israel. Both men made their statements despite great opposition from other nations and from within their own governments. Continue reading...
For us at ONE FOR ISRAEL, we remain steadfast in our conviction that the peace we are to pray for is found in the Prince of Peace, Yeshua the Messiah. We are determined to bring this Gospel of peace to all in Israel and its surroundings, both Jews and Arabs, encouraging those in need, and training believers through our Bible college.
Most of all, we are eagerly awaiting the day when Jerusalem, its inhabitants, and all our people will cry out, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"
GOD'S WORD GOES FORTH FROM ZION
Meanwhile, Jewish and Arab people continue to meet their Messiah as they hear the Good News. We received this message from an Jewish man a while ago, admitting,
"I believe, but I'm afraid. I feel a change has happened, and I've crossed the point of no return!"
Similarly, our outreach in Arabic continues to impact those in the Arab world, and our staff are working to disciple the new believers in The Way of Yeshua. A few months ago, someone from an Al Quaida background in Syria came to faith, and is now our brother in Messiah!
Celebrating Hanukkah
Yeshua's best friend, John, tells us that Yeshua was in Jerusalem for Hanukkah; the Feast of Dedication. So why don't his followers celebrate it too? Well, some of them do. Hanukkah is a Jewish feast, but not one of God's commanded feasts in the Bible. The holiday is famous for its nine-branch candlestick (instead of the seven-branch one mentioned in Exodus) and donuts! But the roots of the Feast of Dedication might be more Biblical than most people realize. Continue reading...
How Can We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem?
Psalm 122 urges us to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem", or more literally, to ask about the shalom of Jerusalem. What does it mean? Is it talking here about the need to pray for the city itself? Or for spiritual salvation, as true peace starts within? Or a bit of both? Let's look at what the Bible has to say about the significant city, and some suggestions about how we can pray today. Continue reading...
