Apostle John Eckhardt: 5 Prayer Strategies for Desperate Times

JOHN ECKHARDT  CHARISMA NEWS
If we realize that God hears our prayers, what could be the holdup in this area you've been praying about for so long? Where is the breakthrough? Where is the manifestation? Where is the increase? Where is the fruit? Where is the healing?
Most of the delay in prayer has to do with demonic forces. Then there are other circumstances when we have made bad decisions and have to deal with the consequences. And still in other cases, God is delaying our breakthrough in order to bring us to a place where we can handle the thing He is trying to bring about in our lives.
Believe it or not, there are blessings that come in seasons of desperation. Without these seasons we would not be able to build the spiritual strength and character we need to withstand the weight of God's glory. Neither would we have the depth of anointing needed to minister to others and bring the glory of God to the nations.
These five prayer strategies show up in the lives of men and women of God whose backs were against the wall. They prayed prayers that got results, and through their times of desperation they learned to do the following:
1. Get Even More Desperate
Don't hide your feelings from God. Get to the house of God, the house of worship, and pour your heart out to Him. I am reminded of the time King David said, "I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor" (2 Sam. 6:22), in response to his wife's judgment of his actions in the presence of the Lord. Don't let people tell you it doesn't take all that praying and worshipping and crying and dancing to get God's attention. Sometimes you need to get loud for God to hear you over the crowd and for Him to walk in your direction and ask, "What do you want Me to do for you?" (Luke 18:42; see Luke 18:35–43.)
2. Persevere
Don't give up or give in to the taunts and torment of the enemy. Keep pressing and praying. Your prayers will reach a tipping point in heaven, and angels will be released to act in the heavenlies on your behalf.
3. Seek God's Presence
As you seek God, He will reveal to you the truth of His Word. He will give you direction about the things that need to be purged from your life so you can be restored and revived.
4. Make a Vow to God and Keep It
All that God does for His people is based on covenant. The faithful ones receive the blessing of His covenant instead of the curses. Recommitting yourself to God is a way to have the blessings of heaven poured out over your life.
5. Prophesy
As you come out of the wilderness, and as God brings deliverance in answer to your prayers, you will be filled with joy and gladness. Your faith will grow to new levels, and you will begin to believe God beyond what He has done for you. You will begin to see visions of God's favor, mercy and, most of all, His glory reaching out to the ends of the earth. You will begin to believe that the desperate times we are facing as a planet will be eradicated.
The one thing you want to develop more than anything else in your life as a believer is your prayer life. Prayer is the primary way that we talk to and hear God. It is the gateway to worship, prophecy, direction, wisdom and so much more. My book Desperate Prayers for Desperate Times (Charisma House, 2018) will help you to become strong in prayer no matter what situations you face in life.

Apostle John Eckhardt Says Another Jesus Movement Is Beginning

STEVE STRANG  CHARISMA NEWS
Apostle John Eckhardt, author of Prayers That Rout Demons, believes a great move of God is about to happen. I interviewed him on my Strang Report podcast, and he says the move of God will be among Millennials, likening it to the Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and 1970s that I wrote about last month in my print column in Charisma magazine.
Below you can click on the podcast and hear us discuss how—despite the doom and gloom we see in the news—God is at work and answering our prayers.
Young people are tired of "talking and theology," Eckhardt told me. "They are looking for an experience—what I call glory encounters." One of the ways is the combining of prophetic ministry and worship music. In fact, he says he's seeing the beginnings of this in the entire Chicago area—something you don't hear on the news.
I mentioned how Loren Cunningham had told me essentially the same thing. It was interesting that two respected leaders from different parts of the body of Christ were sensing the same thing in the spirit.
I reported in an earlier Strang Report that there's another element to bringing in this worldwide awakening, and that is getting God's Word into every one of the 7,092 known languages of the world. It's Loren's goal to have a spoken word translation by 2020 and a written language translation by 2033.
Gutenberg's 1439 invention of the printing press gave common people access to the Bible for the first time, which later helped spread the Reformation across Europe and the world. Cunningham believes that the Word of God becoming foundational in Europe during that time gave rise to Western civilization and the advancements we've seen in the world since then. Returning to the Word of God as our foundation will accomplish the same thing.
Eckhardt believes technology will be part of this great move of God. In the same way, Gutenberg's Bible meant millions had access to God's Word, and that sparked the Reformation. Today's technology, especially through social media, allows the truth to reach parts of the world where missionaries are not allowed. Eckhardt has been astounded to see the interest in his ministry from all over the world through what he does on Periscope, Instagram and Facebook.
Eckhardt said he's beginning to see it in Chicago, but even that is not widely reported except in places like charismanews.com. If you haven't downloaded our free mobile app for Charisma News, I encourage you to do so to keep up with what God is doing as we report the news from a spiritual perspective.
It also helps you know how to pray. Let's believe that what Eckhardt and Cunningham are seeing in the spirit will come to pass in our day.

God will give you a new heart (Ezek. 36:26). It doesn't matter what was in your heart before you came to Christ. God will give you a new heart. If you've been struggling in any area, know that God wants to give you a new heart that is free from bondage.
The Bible says, "If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new" (2 Cor. 5:17). God will give you a heart transplant. He will do a miracle in your heart. This is God's promise through the new covenant.
It started with the people of Israel. God told them, "I'm going to do something inside of you." Even though it is being taught that once you are a homosexual, you will always be a homosexual, God can still completely transform you. The same is taught about alcoholism: If you were once an alcoholic you will always be an alcoholic. The devil is a liar. I don't care how much of an alcoholic you were; you can be delivered. And when you are delivered you are no longer an alcoholic. You are a new creature in Christ. When God delivers you from alcoholism, you can't even stand the taste of it anymore.
When God delivers you from smoking, you don't even like the way cigarettes smell anymore. You wondered how you ever smoked.
When God changes your heart, you are no longer the same person you were before. There may be temptations that try to pull you back into your previous lifestyle, but you can shut those down.
You don't have to be a homosexual or a lesbian anymore; you don't have to be a fornicator or an adulterer. God is saying, "When I do this work in your heart, there is going to be such a miracle that people are going to say they can't believe it. They will wonder how you left that lifestyle." The kind of change I am speaking of has to be an inside job.
We have testimonies of transgender people who have gotten saved. Some even had sex changes. We tend to think that if someone goes that far they are reprobate. Butnothing is too far for God's reach. God can do a miracle in the person's life and change his or her heart.
I want to remind you that there is nothing too hard for God, but pride blocks prayer, worship and the moving of the Holy Spirit. Proud people can hinder the flow of the Holy Spirit; humility is a key to operating in the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we pray, we should always approach God with a spirit of humility. The concept of supplication in Bible verses such as Philippians 4:6 is about submitting a request to one who is in authority over us. God is our creator, our ruler. He is sovereign. He is to be reverenced and feared. He is our ultimate help. But those who operate with a spirit of pride will have the attitude that they don't even need God, that they don't need His covering and protection. Pride will cause us to strive and work things out on our own. Pride causes us to lean to our own understanding, which is, at the very least, limited. We cut God's infinite wisdom and unlimited strength and provision out of the picture, and we set ourselves up for failure and burnout, among other things.
Pride is a mean spirit. People who are prideful disregard the feelings and needs of others. There is no consideration in the way they interact with other people. They speak to them however they want. But this is not how we as believers are to carry on in our day-to-day conversation with others. We should always be walking in love, grace, humility and kindness.
Pride makes you think you don't need anyone, that you can do everything on your own. It leads you to see people as resources to leverage and use to achieve your own ends. Pride keeps you from experiencing the intimacy of relationship, collaboration and exchanging thought and ideas. It keeps you from seeing the value in others. Pride will lead us to compete rather than collaborate.
Humility is a great weapon against pride, and it invites the grace of God (James 4:6) into the battle. The spirit of pride produces a hardness of heart in people (Job 41:24), making it even more difficult to bring those being used by this spirit to the repentance they need.
The battle with pride is the toughest of all because it's at the root of our fallen nature. We will not win against this in our own strength. We can win, though not without humbling ourselves before God and seeking Him for deliverance. His Word says that we are new creatures in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) and He has promised to give us a new heart (Ezek. 36:26). There is nothing impossible with God, and all things are possible to him who believes. Do you believe that?
