He who curses Israel... Any nation that comes against Israel will know the Lord God of Israel's promise.

Abram Journeys to Egypt

1Now the LORD said to Abram,
            “Go forth from your country,
            And from your relatives
            And from your father’s house,
            To the land which I will show you;

2And I will make you a great nation,

            And I will bless you,
            And make your name great;
            And so you shall be a blessing;

3And I will bless those who bless you,

And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

What the Shemitah Means for Israel, the World

What the Shemitah Means for Israel, the World

JERUSALEM, Israel -- For Israel and the Jewish people, the High Holy Days this year mark the end of a significant seven-year cycle and a rare fourth blood moon. Some believe that combination could have a huge impact on the world.
That's why many Christians and others believe that this September could be significant in Jewish, American and world history.
The Bible tells the Jewish people to sow the land and reap its produce for six consecutive years. Then, on the seventh year, they're commanded to let the land lie fallow.
"Shemitah means the sabbatical," Rabbi Tuly Weisz told CBN News. "There's a year of rest for the land of Israel and for people all over the world."
Israel keeps the shemitah every seven years. It ends on the 29th of the Hebrew month of Elul, which this year falls on Sunday, September 13.
Weisz says many non-Jews are also paying close attention this year.
"People from all over the world who've never heard of shemitah are all of a sudden looking and trying to explore what is the significance of shemitah because of all the global events that are happening that seem a bit unusual," he said.
Author Jonathan Cahn raised the idea of the shemitah's connection to the global economy in his book, The Mystery of the Shemitah, which warns of trouble ahead for America.
"I believe a great shaking is coming to America and the world but America. I believe a shaking is coming that strikes the financial realm, economic realm and even be a shaking that's greater than that," Cahn said on The 700 Club this week.
He and others believe there's a correlation between financial downturns in the United States and the end of the shemitah year.
"[In] 1980 you have recession and then the stock market collapses; you have '87 stock market collapses and the shemitah of that, and you have 'Black Monday' the worst point percentage crash in history," Cahn explained. "Shemitah of 1994, the bond market collapses, called the bond market massacre -- greatest in history; 2001 you have the stock market collapsing, recession. You have the greatest point crash in world history and you have 9/11, which is the shaking. Shemitah also means shaking."
The end of the Hebrew month of Elul ushers in the start of the Jewish High Holy Days, beginning with Rosh Hashanah.
"The Bible refers to Rosh Hashanah as Yom Teruah -- the day of sounding the shofar blasts. It's a day of shofar blasts, a day of judgment, a day of coronating God as our King," Weisz said.
And 10 days later comes Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.
"Yom Kippur in the Bible is the day of judgment, the day of tshuvah, the day of atonement, the day of forgiveness," Weisz continued. "It's a day we spend in synagogue fasting, not eating or drinking for a 25-hour period, and a day that is spent in prayer and in repentance."
But God didn't leave his people without hope. Within a few days, the joyful Festival of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, begins.
This year, as a result of the lunar eclipse, there's a rare blood moon on the first night of Sukkot. It's the fourth blood moon on a Jewish holiday in two years.
"It happened only four times in the last 500 years," Weisz explained. "The last tetrad to occur on the Jewish festivals before this one was in 1967, the one before was 1948 and the one before was all the way in 1492. And those are major years in Jewish history and in the history of the world."
Those dates include the birth of the modern State of Israel, the reuniting of Jerusalem under Jewish sovereignty and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain hundreds of years ago.
That's led many to say God is judging the world and the Jewish people, but Weisz sees it differently.
"It's our belief that the blood moons are a cause of celebration, where God is giving signs to the world and signs to the Jewish people that He is doing something great for us and for the world. So it's a sign of excitement, it's a sign! The blood moons are a sign of excitement and they're a sign of Messianic advancement," he said.

Jonathan Cahn Offers Biblical Insight on Elul 29—The Day of Nullification

Jonathan Cahn Offers Biblical Insight on Elul 29—The Day of Nullification

The New York Stock Exchange went dark on Wednesday. The nation of Greece is seeing its financial crisis grow worse by the day and some are wondering if China could be facing a 1929 moment.
Against this backdrop, the Bank of International Settlements has warned that the world is unable to fight the next global financial crash because central banks have spent everything they have to overcome the last meltdown.
None of this is any surprise to prophets who understand the end times. Jonathan Cahn, author of The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah, has some sobering thoughts on the events unfolding before our eyes.
"We are now approaching the final two months of the Shemitah," says Cahn, who stunned millions across America and the world with the mysteries revealed in his New York Times best-seller The Harbinger. He now uncovers and reveals a new realm of astonishing mysteries so big they lie behind everything from world wars, the rise and fall of nations, economic recession and financial collapse and your future.
As he sees it, this is the most crucial time on the biblical calendar.
"In September, the Shemitah reaches it peak on Elul 29, the Day of Nullification, when all debt and credit are wiped away. The markets have been largely expanding for several years. So to see the sudden destabilization of the global financial realm, in Greece, Europe and China, just as we head toward the Shemitah's climax is especially striking," Cahn says.
"Added to this, the Greek crisis specifically deals with issue of debt and debt relief—the central issue of the Shemitah. Whether or not the Greek crisis finds a resolution, the very fact that such sudden destabilization occurred as the Shemitah nears its conclusion may be taken as a first alarm."

The Shemitah Unraveled: What 2015-2016 Could Bring - Rabbi Jonathan Cahn

The Shemitah Unraveled: What 2015-2016 Could Bring

As the world waits to see what the end of a seven-year biblical cycle known as the Shemitah may bring this fall, New York Times best-selling author Rabbi Jonathan Cahn issued a warning to prepare for economic calamity, war in the Middle East or even worse.
"I will state a warning which I have stated before," Cahn told hundreds of people gathered at the Prophecy in the News conference in Orlando, Florida, this weekend. "Whether it comes in this time parameter of the Shemitah or the year following or not, I believe a great shaking is going to come to this land and to the world that will involve the collapsing of the American economy ... and the removal of its blessings and prosperity.
"Whether it begins with the economic realm or not, I believe it's going to be bigger than the economic realm and it may have the effect of famine or cutting off infrastructure for a time. The shaking doesn't have to take place in the Shemitah (year), but I believe we need to be ready."
Cahn's warning has to do with what is known as the biblical Shemitah, or the Sabbath Year. During this year, according to Exodus and Leviticus, there was to be no working of the land. The last day of the Shemitah, Elul 29, is considered the "wipeout day" when all debts were "wiped clean." The Shemitah is meant to be a blessing, but when Israel turned away from God it became "a sign of judgment on a nation that has driven God out of its life."
In The Mystery of the Shemitah, Cahn described how this biblical pattern is connected to numerous events in modern history, including the rise of America to superpower status, World Wars I and II, the return of the Jewish people to their ancient homeland, the Six-Day War and even the rising of the World Trade Center.
He also noted a pattern of judgments at seven-year intervals in September 2001 and 2008 marked by the greatest crashes in Wall Street history, up to that time. The first occurred on Sept. 17, 2001, just a few days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and the second occurred on Sept. 29, 2008. Both occurred on the biblical day of Elul 29, the very day appointed to wipe out the financial accounts of a nation. The next one occurs on Sept. 13.
"For years, financial observers have been mystified why it is that all the greatest crashes tend to take place the same time of year," Cahn says. "When is it? September to October. What if we take the greatest crashes in history. Do any of them take place at the end of the seven-year cycle of the Shemitah at the time of the wipeout and the answer is, 'Yes.' Every single one of them does. And the thing is the phenomenon is increasing. It's intensifying."
While the current Shemitah runs from September 2014 through this September, Cahn told the audience that the "Super Shemitah"—or the year of Jubilee, the year at the end of seven cycles of the Shemitah—begins this September and runs through September 2016.
"What people don't realize is one of the missing keys of end-times prophecy is the Shemitah," says Cahn, author of The Harbinger, which has sold more than 2 million copies. "What's the end of end-times prophecy? The Tribulation. How long is the Tribulation period? Seven years. It's a cycle of Shemitahs that goes back to Daniel's 70 sevens, which is linked to the Shemitah and linked to the judgment of Israel and the 70 years of judgment. Every seventh year is a Shemitah, but every seventh Shemitah is a Super-Shemitah, which we call the Jubilee ... ."
Despite these patterns, though, Cahn says God is in no way bound by the cycle.
"Now nothing has to happen, but if it follows the course of most times when people predict things like this they're wrong, but if it follows the course here's what would happen. According to the pattern, each time it happens, there is war in the Middle East. No. 2, there is a major war focused on Israel—World War I and the 1967 Six-Day War. No. 3, that war results in an end-times restoration of the next step of end-times prophecy."
In the book of Genesis, the Shemitah began with the Pharoah's prophetic dream of 14 cows—seven healthy and seven sick. God revealed to Joseph that the seven healthy cows represented seven years of prosperity, while the sick were the seven years of famine to follow.
"God gives a warning to Egypt to tell them what is coming," Cahn says. "The turning point is that seventh cow."
During his talk, Cahn pointed to a sign with biblical roots that went viral on newswires Sept. 25, 2014—the very day the world entered the current Shemitah: a cow with the number seven on its head.
"The pattern of the Shemitah is ... it begins so undramatic you barely notice it," Cahn says.
Here are the signs that Cahn revealed about the beginning of the Shemitah last year, on or around Sept. 25.
"This is the beginning of the ending of the American Age," Cahn says. "We are seeing things we have never seen in human history."
Could this be the beginning of the end of the ages—not just America?
"It is no accident. The Bible says woe to those who call evil good and good evil. It is no accident that at the same time the nation is calling evil good, it's calling good—like you, like believers—evil. What's happening now is you're hearing more and more of Christians being persecuted for simply trying to stay true to their faith. Everything is coming to a head."
