From the time we are children, we have implicit trust in our parents that they will care for us. But as we get older, we become the ones our children rely on. Who then will care for us as we age? Today's verse points to the answer: it is always God. Whether we are facing hardships, sickness, or times of financial distress, God is always the One to lift us up and hold us close, like the tight hug of a parent to child. Bearing this in mind, should we not do our best to emulate God with our fellow and care for them in their time of need? The impoverished and downtrodden of Israel experience the direct security of God's Hand each and every day through the devotion of Meir Panim. Meir Panim is steadfast in its commitment to preserve the dignity of the poor in Israel.
