Jay Sekulow and Mark Goldfeder: Ilhan Omar’s outrageous anti-Israel resolution should be defeated in House - FOX News

Omar mocked Americans for fearing Al Qaeda, downplayed 9/11.

Jay Sekulow and Mark Goldfeder: Ilhan Omar’s outrageous anti-Israel resolution should be defeated in House - FOX News July 18, 2019

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. – who has refused to apologize for past anti-Semitic remarks – introduced a resolution in the House this week supporting the right of people to participate in the anti-Semitic and anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Omar’s resolution opposes laws banning any boycott of Israel and supports the right of Americans to organize boycotts of other countries. Although the resolution doesn’t specifically name Israel, Omar has told reporters it is directed against the Jewish state.

This deeply flawed resolution deserves to go down to overwhelming bipartisan defeat for many reasons.

OMAR INTRODUCES RESOLUTION DEFENDING BOYCOTT OF ISRAEL, LIKENS IT TO BOYCOTTS OF NAZI GERMANY, SOVIET UNION

The BDS movement that Omar so warmly embraces is an international effort with the ultimate goal of delegitimizing Israel and disrupting its economic stability. It attempts to cause direct harm to the economic interests of people conducting business in and with Israel – or deemed to be affiliated with Israel.

BDS is, in effect, a declaration of economic warfare against Israel. It uses the threat of withholding business to coerce companies to cease or refuse to engage in business relations with the Jewish state, its nationals and its residents. Especially in its accompanying “cultural and academic boycotts,” BDS also often targets people who are Jewish or who do business with Jews.

And in an appalling insulting move, the text of the Omar resolution itself compares a boycott of the Jewish state today to boycotts of Nazi Germany – a nation that carried out the mass murder of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust.

In introducing the resolution, Omar actually equated Israel – the only true democracy in the Middle East and a close American ally – with Hamas, a designated Palestinian terrorist organization.

And in an appalling insulting move, the text of the Omar resolution itself compares a boycott of the Jewish state today to boycotts of Nazi Germany – a nation that carried out the mass murder of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust.

In addition, Omar’s resolution demonstrates a shocking lack of knowledge about the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and a fundamental lack of understanding about how anti-discrimination laws work.

Omar does not seem to have a problem expressing her virulent hatred of the state of Israel. As much as we disagree with her view, she has a First Amendment right to express her opinion.

But she should not be allowed to confuse the American people by hiding her opposition to the Jewish state in a misreading of our Constitution.

Omar’s description of the BDS movement is riddled with falsehoods. BDS is not “nonviolent,” as Omar claims. Support of BDS has been a significant factor in the recent trend of anti-Semitic incidents both globally and domestically.

With the unambiguous goal of eliminating the only Jewish state in the world, the BDS movement has been repeatedly and demonstrably linked to radical terrorist groups.

The legislative response to the BDS movement has not been – and should never be – a partisan issue. In their 2016 party platforms, both the Republican and Democratic Parties included language that disavowed BDS.

Many state legislatures have found BDS activity abhorrent and more than half have taken steps to distance themselves from supporting it through the passing of bipartisan anti-BDS legislation. These laws declare that the states will refuse to do business with those who engage in discriminatory business practices that are opposed to the state’s social and economic values.

This is the point about which many BDS proponents – including Omar – are attempting to muddy the waters in an effort to conceal their disdain for Israel behind the pretense that they have First Amendment concerns.

So let us be very clear:

None of the state laws dealing with BDS bans or punishes in any way speech that is critical of Israel. And none of these state laws stops anyone who desires to do so from boycotting Israel.

In the words of Professor Eugene Kontorovich, one of the experts behind anti-BDS bills, “these laws simply say: If you want the state to do business with you, you need to abide by the state’s policies of sound and fair business practices, including anti-discrimination rules.”

As Democratic Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo wrote shortly after he signed Executive Order No. 157 in New York, directing state entities to divest all public funds from entities supporting BDS: “as a matter of law, there is a fundamental difference between a state suppressing free speech and a state simply choosing how to spend its dollars. To argue otherwise would be to suggest that New York state is constitutionally obligated to support the BDS Movement, which is not only irrational but also has no basis in law.”

Consistent with such analysis, the Supreme Court has said that “when government speaks, it is not barred by the Free Speech Clause from determining the content of what it says.”

This means that the government is allowed to pick a side in a debate. And the Supreme Court has continually refused “to hold that the Government unconstitutionally discriminates on the basis of viewpoint when it chooses to fund a program dedicated to advance certain permissible goals, because the program in advancing those goals necessarily discourages alternative goals.”

This means that the government is allowed to say it does not support BDS, and it is not thereby discriminating against those who would like the government to support BDS. In fact, anti-BDS statutes exemplify the states’ right to take a moral position on an issue.

To summarize, anti-BDS bills do not violate the First Amendment because they relate only to government speech, not private speech.

If you’re curious, the general prohibition against these “secondary boycotts” (an attempt to influence the actions of one organization by exerting pressure on another entity) is taken directly from the National Labor Relations Act, and has been expressly upheld by the Supreme Court against a First Amendment challenge.

The language and purpose of the statutes closely tracks those of the Export Administration Act, and the nondiscrimination provision is virtually the same as that of Title VII, albeit in the context of commerce (as opposed to employment). In short, the anti-BDS bills are fully constitutional, supported by good law and solid policy.

Half of Pastors Afraid of Speaking on Controversial Issues, Offending Congregation - CALEB PARKE/FOX NEWS

Half of Pastors Afraid of Speaking on Controversial Issues, Offending Congregation

A new study shows that half of American pastors worry about preaching on hot-button social issues—like abortion and LGBTQ issues—worried they might offend someone.
Pastor Corey Brooks, Pastor Michael Youssef and Pastor Ron Lewis open up on Fox & Friends about the pressures facing worship leaders around the nation after the Barna Group published the results earlier this year.
While the majority of pastors agree their job is to help Christians have biblical beliefs about specific issues, many feel added pressure from outside and within the church and are struggling to figure out how to communicate in the public sphere.

Facebook Blocks 'Trump Prophecy' Ads - CALEB PARKE/FOX NEWS

Facebook Blocks 'Trump Prophecy' Ads

The producer of "The Trump Prophecy," a faith-based film about a man who said he heard from God in 2011 that Trump would one day be president, says Facebook has "almost been abusive" in seeking information from the production company, which was just trying to place an ad on the site.
Facebook is blocking ads from the production, which is a partnership between ReelWorks Studios and private Christian school Liberty University's cinema department, alleging it is too "political."
Facebook did not return Fox News' request for comment.
"The name 'Trump' requires a reaction. Unfortunately people try to come up with a conclusion before they know what the story is about. We're not doing political ads but that's what we're being accused [of]," Rick Eldridge, the film's producer and financer from ReelWorks Studios, told Fox News.
However, Eldridge said the movie does include reflections from several different world leaders answering questions about what it means to "make America great again" and what the current administration means for Israel and world peace.
When "Prophecy" producers tried to appeal the ban of their ads, Facebook responded by saying "the text and/or imagery you're using qualifies as political, based on the definition we're using for enforcement."
"I know issues with Trump are often charged, but if you watch the movie it's not really about Trump as much as the events that occurred leading up to the election," said Stephan Schultze, the film's director and head of the cinematic arts department at Liberty.
Unlike the book it is based on, which gathers the accounts of retired firefighter Mark Taylor and Mary Colbert talking about Trump prophecies, Eldridge said the movie only focuses on one prophecy from Taylor: that Trump would become president and impact the relationship between America and Israel.
One of the more controversial claims Taylor has made, that is not included in the movie, is that President Barack Obama will be charged with treason and that Trump will release cures for cancer and Alzheimer's disease that the pharmaceutical industry has kept secret.
While the film's producers say the film is not political, Facebook blocked its ads for this very reason.
"We think it's going to help unite this world but that's a message Facebook doesn't want us to tell," Eldridge, who has also produced "Four Blood Moons" and "The Ultimate Gift," said.
According to Schultze, 63 students, in addition to some faculty members, at Liberty gained "real life, real hands on experience" working on the film. The class runs like a real production, he said. Each student has two roles, as they help with every aspect of the film.
"In the six years since its inception, we've done five movies – two of which have gotten national theatrical release," Schultze added.
Liberty's state-of-the-art facilities were part of the reason Eldridge was excited to partner with the Christian school.
"We didn't debate religion. We didn't debate politics. We just told a story and everybody had a good time with it," Eldridge said.
But one student didn't want to be associated with the movie, so that student worked on another project.
Outside of the department, however, a petition started by an anonymous person who said they are a Liberty student expressed outrage through a Change.org petition, demanding the school to "cancel" the "heretical film project," though it is unclear how many of the 2,000-plus signees are affiliated with the school.
Last year, LU President Jerry Falwell, Jr. called the actions of a few LU graduates threatening to forgo their diplomas as "grandstanding" and a "joke" to protest Trump's commencement address.
Eldridge said he hopes the film gives people a better understanding of what to pray for based on the Bible verse 2 Chronicles 7:14.
"I think the story is really at its core about prayer and it's about calling our nation to prayer," We are a divided nation in a lot of ways, but when you look at leadership,... when you look at it from a biblical perspective, we are called to pray for our leaders...whoever is in authority over us."
The faith-based film will be released in 1,000 select theaters nationwide on Oct. 2 and Oct. 4.

‘I Can Only Imagine’ film -- It’s time for anti-Christian bigots to stop mocking and start listening - Lauren DeBellis Appell Fox News

‘I Can Only Imagine’ film -- It’s time for anti-Christian bigots to stop mocking and start listening

Lauren DeBellis  Appell Fox News

The independent Christian movie “I Can Only Imagine” performed far better than anyone could have imagined at the box office last weekend, bringing in $17.1 million when it was only expected to sell between $2 million and $4 million in tickets.

Why? Because people of faith in this country are speaking loudly. The elitists on the left who continue to ridicule Christianity while they preach at us to coexist need to stop talking and start listening.

While it cost only $7 million to make, “I Can Only Imagine” finished opening weekend at the No. 3 spot in the box office.

“I don’t think the industry predicted this,” said Jon Erwin, co-director of the movie. “They really dismissed the film prior to opening weekend – almost called it a failure before we even got a chance to open it. The opening weekend success of ‘I Can Only Imagine’ illustrates just how large the Christian audience is, and the movie industry should pay attention.”

We continue to see this growing hatred for Christians in spite of the fact that they make up the majority of our society. We’ve just seen two more recent examples of this.

First, comedian Jim Carrey tweeted his distorted painting apparently portraying White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders with the message: “This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!”

Then HBO comedian John Oliver stooped low, using Vice President Mike Pence’s daughter and her apolitical children’s book about the family's pet bunny to target the vice president.

Charlotte Pence wrote “Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President,” an educational children’s story about the role of the vice president, told from the point-of-view of her family’s bunny, Marlon Bundo. Oliver released a parody book about the family’s bunny in which he took aim at the vice president because he disagrees with his views on gay marriage.

Once upon a time kids of politicians were off limits. Now the anti-Christian crowd has gone so far off the rails they justify using kids as well as their pets as a bullying platform to spew their personal hatred for Christianity. Apparently, anything is fair game if you’re attacking a person of faith.

Oliver’s fans also took to Amazon to troll Charlotte Pence’s book, attack the vice president and praise John Oliver.

These two are just the latest in a growing pattern of incidents where Christians have been singled out and mocked and ridiculed. They follow “The View” co-host Joy Behar’s comments that Christians who hear from God have a mental illness. The backlash was so fierce that Behar has since been forced to apologize.

Also in recent weeks, former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee was forced to resign from the Country Music Association Board amid backlash for his conservative and religious beliefs.

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle ridiculed Larry Kudlow’s faith last week when he said, on leaving CNBC to accept President Trump’s offer to become director of National Economic Council: “However things work out, it will be God’s will.” Ruhle later apologized for being dismissive.

Christians are growing tired of this increasing trend that makes their faith the punchline of jokes and the target of public taunting by the far left, who view themselves as morally superior simply because they have a microphone.

“I Can Only Imagine” is a hopeful, uplifting story of love and redemption. What makes it so powerful is that it’s a true story.

Bart Millard had the deck stacked against him. His mom left when he was young and he was forced to live with his abusive father. But after his dad was diagnosed with cancer, Millard witnessed firsthand how the once abusive father is transformed into a believer in Jesus Christ.

Inspired by the miracle God worked on his dad, Bart Millard went on to write the song “I Can Only Imagine,” which became the bestselling Christian single of all time and launched his group Mercy Me.

The story is evidence of grace that sustains us and gives us every reason to have hope for a future, no matter how bad our circumstances.

As Christians, we can only imagine a time when anti-Christian bigots can finally understand that while they may be louder, we make up a not-so-silent, large portion of society in this country. We buy movie tickets, concert tickets, watch TV and vote.

If you observe the hatred you hear directed at Christians, in just about every instance it’s been responded to by taking the high road with dignity and class. That’s because as Christians we don’t look to Hollywood, or its high-profile counterparts for validation. They are not our hope for the future. If they truly want to coexist, they need to start listening and stop ridiculing.

I can only imagine what would happen if those who hate Christians could trade their hate for the hope this movie inspires, instead of continuing to perpetuate a hostile culture that assaults people of faith in this country. If they would start listening and stop mocking, then we could all start coexisting.

I can only imagine.

Did an Ancient Blueprint Foretell Trump's Victory and Clinton's Defeat 3,000 Years Before the Election?

BETH HARRISON/HAMILTON STRATEGIES  CHARISMA NEWS
Last week, Fox News reported that twice-defeated presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is now considering preaching in the Methodist church because she has an interest in "sharing her faith."
That revelation might have come as a shock to many, but the soon-to-be-released book from New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Cahn, The Paradigm: The Ancient Blueprint That Holds the Mystery of Our Times (www.TheParadigmMystery.com), will not only shake Washington and change the way millions view current events and how they shape our lives, but also shed light on the biggest issues of our day.
For example, Cahn tells readers how the ancient paradigm predicted Donald Trump's presidential victory and Hillary Clinton's defeat years before it happened.
"In the last American presidential election, virtually every pollster and analyst predicted a decisive victory for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump," Cahn says. "But one major source predicted the opposite years before it happened—thousands of years before it happened!"
Cahn's newest book, The Paradigm, will reveal a newly uncovered blueprint that foretold the outcome of the last election nearly 3,000 years before it took place. The Paradigm will open up the ancient template that predicted the decisive victory for Trump and the dramatic fall of Clinton.
The revelation of the astonishing outcome of the last election is only one of the multitude of revelations and discoveries surrounding the ancient blueprint in The Paradigm, which will also remove the veil behind the leaders, the governments, the events, even the scandals of modern times. Its disclosures are so detailed and its revelations so precise that it even speaks of events before they happen. The book will undoubtedly anger some, but will amaze and stun many others with its discoveries.
Those who preorder at one of several retailers before the Sept. 19 release date will receive a package worth more than $70 that includes Cahn's best-selling book The Harbinger in audiobook and e-book format, Cahn's best-selling The Book of Mysteries-book and The Paradigm e-book (sent via email on the release date). Preorders and can be placed now at the following retailers:
Cahn, who caused a stir throughout America and the globe with the release of his instant New York Times best-seller The Harbinger, which sold over 2 million copies, followed that earth-shattering work with The Mystery of the Shemitah and The Book of Mysteries, also New York Times best-sellers. In fact, the mysteries of the immensely popular The Harbinger continue and are intertwined with the mysteries of The Paradigm.
Long before his previous best-selling books, Cahn was known for opening the deep mysteries of Scripture and for teachings of prophetic import. He leads Hope of the World and the Jerusalem Center/Beth Israel just outside New York City in Wayne, New Jersey. He is also a much sought-after speaker, having addressed the United Nations on Capitol Hill and millions of people around the world. Cahn has also been called the prophetic voice of our generation.
The Paradigm is published by Frontline, an imprint of Charisma House, which has published books that challenge, encourage, teach and equip Christians, including 13 New York Times best-sellers.

Museum of the Bible prepares for DC opening - Jennifer G. Hickey Fox News

Museum of the Bible prepares for DC opening

Shown here is a rendering of the Museum of the Bible, which is still under construction in Washington, D.C.
Shown here is a rendering of the Museum of the Bible, which is still under construction in Washington, D.C.
The vast grove of museums stretching from the U.S. Capitol across the fringes of the National Mall is about to get a new addition, albeit a decidedly less secular one: The Museum of the Bible.
Just three blocks south of the Capitol, the privately funded museum is set to open this November. Though it may seem out of place next to the well-known museums on American history, air and space and more, those behind the project describe it as a future attraction that will draw in a range of visitors through a blend of historical and religious artifacts and interactive exhibits.
“The goal is to show and to educate people about the many ways that the Bible has impacted America, not just our history but in terms of civil rights and social justice to fashion,” Steve Bickley, vice president of marketing for the museum, told Fox News during an early tour of the museum-in-the-making.
From presidential inaugural ceremonies to bedside tables in hotels across the country, the Bible has indeed been a fixture in American life. Bickley says the 430,000-square-foot facility aims to offer an “immersive experience to people from all faiths, or no faith, and those who have never even picked up a Bible.”
The $500 million, eight-story museum is financed entirely by private funds. The force behind the design is the architectural firm, Smith Group, while Clark Construction has overseen the project since its groundbreaking in 2015. Both were involved in the construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the popular site near the Washington Monument.
The museum’s five central exhibit floors will house 40,000 biblical and religious artifacts, including portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls, bibles once belonging to Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley, and the Lunar Bible – the first bible to travel in space.
The first exhibit to arrive at the museum is a 3,200-pound full-scale replica of the original Liberty Bell, gifted to the museum by Dr. Peter Lillback, founder of the Providence Forum. Because of its size, the replica had to be lowered into the building, which is still undergoing construction.
But it is Steve Green, the museum’s founder and president of Hobby Lobby, and his father, David, who have contributed the bulk of the items.
Over the last five years, the Green Collection has grown into the world’s largest private collection of biblical texts and artifacts.
The Greens gained national recognition in 2012 when they mounted a legal challenge to the contraceptive mandate included in ObamaCare. In 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby and the Green family in a landmark victory for religious freedom advocates.
To critics who believe the museum will only present the Bible from a Christian perspective, Bickley poses a question.
“Why would the Israel Antiquities Authority be partners in a project which only promotes Christianity?” he asked in reference to a multi-year agreement the museum signed with the Authority to fill gallery space with objects contained in Israel’s National Treasures.
One of the more interesting offerings is a digital guide, with which visitors would be able to design their own tours on their phones -- and take a virtual tour of the locations in Washington, D.C., where biblical passages can be found.
There is an emphasis on making the site more than just a building.
In May 2011, the Museum of the Bible launched its first travelling exhibit. A collection of about 400 items has made stops in Colorado Springs and the greater Los Angeles area, as well as at The Vatican and in Cuba.
Another arm of the museum is the Scholars Initiative, which pairs together younger scholars with more established analysts to work on artifacts in the Museum Collection. Currently, more than 60 universities around the world are participating in the Scholars Initiative, and others are in the process of joining.
