Standing With Israel
While conducting salvage work among the debris Hurricane Harvey left behind, Israeli rescue workers stumbled upon an extraordinary discovery.
A 12-member team of volunteers from the Israel-based ZAKA search and rescue organization is on the ground in Houston, Texas, helping both the Jewish and Christian communities in the area devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
ZAKA, which is recognized by the United Nations as an international humanitarian volunteer organization, is known for its expertise in search, rescue and recovery in natural disasters and terror attacks around the world.
The volunteers engaged in work to assist the communities in any way needed, from clearing debris to offering assistance with food deliveries.
"As a humanitarian organization, we help all those in need, regardless of religion, race or gender," stated ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav. He noted that some recipients of the assistance were excited by the fact the team was from the Holy Land.
As part of their humanitarian clean-up campaign, ZAKA members were sent by Pastor Becky Keenan from the Gulf Meadows Church to help clear the homes of members of her congregation.
It was almost a week after the hurricane flooded his home when Adrian, one of the victims, could finally return. "The moisture had turned the house into a swampland," he explained to Joshua Wander, one of the ZAKA Israel volunteers.
The only items in the home miraculously untouched by the flood damage were his prized library of Jewish interlinear Hebrew/English texts and Bibles. "All my secular books were destroyed, but the pages of these books are still dry, still usable and without any mold."
Adrian studies the texts to better understand the Jewish people and to seek "cohesion between Jewish and Christian communities."
"We are trying to build a bridge here," he explained.
Meshi-Zahav expressed pride in the hard physical work the volunteers are doing for everyone in need in Houston.
"Our sages tell us that God created man in his image. Not just Jews, but all men," he said, underscoring that the Christian community in the US is very supportive of Israel and that he was pleased that ZAKA is able to bring help from the Holy Land when it is most needed.

The Meaning of UNESCO's Decisions Regarding Jewish Heritage in the Holy Land - Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY

The Meaning of UNESCO's Decisions Regarding Jewish Heritage in the Holy Land

Tuesday, July 11, 2017 | Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY
The latest UNESCO decision to recognize Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs as a threatened "Palestinian" world heritage site sparked a tantrum among Israeli leaders.
Though it is a given that Hebron is an indisputably Jewish heritage site, in all fairness at least the Cave has become a Muslim heritage site, too. UNESCO's manifest about old town of Hebron al-Khalil & its environs demonstrates its unforgivable bias that conveniently skips any Jewish history in the area. Yet, to argue that Hebron has nothing to do with Islam is to miss the point entirely.
Stressing the importance of Hebron for Islam inevitably shifts the conflict from the nationalistic to the religious sphere. Whether wittingly or not, UNESCO has agreed to prefer Islam's version of the Bible, transforms Abraham into the father of Islamic faith. When Prime Minister Netanyahu says in response that Abraham is the father of the Jewish people, he says nothing Muslims don't know. They would agree, but would also insist that because Jews have forsaken the teachings of the prophets, they no longer belong to the heritage of the prophets, Abraham being the first of them.
Netanyahu and UNESCO demonstrate best of all what happens when the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is finally placed in its correct context: A fight over God's inheritance that can never be compromised.
This sober reality means that the conflict will end only when Israel or the Palestinians accept the other side's interpretation of the Bible. This, we all know, will never happen. Furthermore, if the conflict is primarily religious in nature, as indeed it is, a Palestinian state should be viewed as a tool designed to achieve a greater Islamic goal, which is to free the Promised Land from the grip of the most vile of infidels, the Jews.
Unfortunately, since its miraculous victory in 1967, Israel has been content to pay little more than lip service to Jewish heritage sites like the Temple Mount and the Cave of the Patriarchs. Even Netanyahu's decision to divert money from UNESCO to building a Jewish heritage center in Hebron is pathetic. Rather than strengthening living Jews, he has opted for building a memorial for the dead.
For some, this comes as little surprise, considering that it was Netanyahu who, in 1997, agreed to pull out of Hebron under the Oslo Accords. And it wasn't only Netanyahu. Every Israeli prime minister since then has been willing to surrender more and more of Hebron, along with its sacred Jewish heritage sites, to the Palestinians. Such a policy leaves the onlooker wondering about the level of Jewish commitment to their heritage.
Nevertheless, UNESCO's greatest service is in its insistence on clearly revealing the true nature of the conflict. By its consistent decisions denying Jewish heritage in the Holy Land, UNESCO says loud and clear that a significant part of the international community prefers the welfare of Islam over that of the Jewish people.

UN Excuses Wife-Beating as Natural Reaction to 'Israeli Occupation' - Israel Today

UN Excuses Wife-Beating as Natural Reaction to 'Israeli Occupation'

Thursday, June 22, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
First, they called terrorism a "natural reaction" to the presence of Jews in the Holy Land. Now, Palestinian men are being excused by none other than the United Nations for taking out their frustrations with Israel on their own spouses.
At a UN Human Rights Council debate earlier this month, the director of UN Watch, Hillel Neuer, challenged a new report blaming Israel for when Palestinian husbands beat their wives.
"Is it right to continue infantilizing Palestinians, such that when a man in Ramallah beats his wife, we encourage him to say ‘Israel made me do it’?" Neuer asked the report's author, Dubravka Šimonovic, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women.
Neuer further noted that while Israeli counter-terrorism measure might put pressure on the Palestinian population, that doesn't explain why violence against women is equally prevalent in the neighboring countries of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt.
Nor was there any excuse for Šimonovic's lack of actual evidence to support her conclusion.
But, most notably, Neuer wondered how the report could draw a dubious link between Israeli security and Palestinian spousal abuse, while ignoring entirely the regular weekly sermons by Palestinian Muslim clerics encouraging such domestic violence.
Neuer clearly hit a nerve, because the chair of the debate, UNHRC Vice-President Amr Ahmed Ramadan, broke with protocol by refusing to thank the speaker, stating instead:
“I would like to say thank you, but I can’t—because I think that you need to respect this Council more in the next days.”

Al Quds Day is an annual day chosen by the late Ayatollah Khomeini to call for Israel to be destroyed. Al Quds Day marches have seen displays of support for Hezbollah, an illegal, prescribed, anti-semitic terrorist organization. This year the "celebrations" are already scheduled worldwide for June 23rd.
