Like a Cancer, Jimmy Carter Espouses Anti-Israel Venom

It's always interesting when Jimmy Carter raises his head from the depths of his presidency in exile, like a perennial groundhog.
The main difference is that when groundhogs raise their head, it forecasts either more winter or an early spring. In Carter's case, it's always gloom and blame of Israel. As President Reagan famously and appropriately quipped, "There you go again."
It's novel for Jimmy Carter to use the anniversary of the U.N. Partition vote to be heard from most recently. He's too smart to make errors of the magnitude that he has in his New York Times op-ed, so I must write it off to his willfully misleading the reader. Let's address some of his misrepresentations.
For starters, if on Nov. 29, 1947 the Arabs (the only ones referred to as "Palestinians" then were Jews) had accepted the U.N. Partition Plan, they'd have a state today, side by side with Israel.
Carter disingenuously denies this, asserting that "peace is in danger of abrogation" as if Israel is the sole cause for the lack of peace. The fact is that if the Arabs laid down their weapons and stopped their rhetoric and incitement against Israel, they'd have peace tomorrow. He writes with arrogance as if only his voice is valid, but the truth is many former presidents and world leaders have spoken the truth, which Carter conveniently ignores.
Take President Clinton, a fellow Democrat, who also spent more than a little time on the Israel-Arab conflict. Clinton blamed the Palestinians squarely for the failed negotiations during his presidency. "I killed myself to give the Palestinians a state. I had a deal they turned down that would have given them all of Gaza ... between 96 and 97 percent of the West Bank, compensating land in Israel, you name it."
He blamed Yasser Arafat directly for the failure of the 2000 Camp David Summit.
Continuing to rest his hat on a stack of half-truths, non-truths and innuendo, Carter chides Israel for the fact that Palestinian Arabs are not Israeli citizens. Of course, they aren't. They want their own state.
Why should they be Israeli citizens? Many Palestinian Arabs are not citizens of the actual states in which they live including Syria, Lebanon and others. Why does Carter single out Israel, the Jewish state, as being responsible to grant citizenship to non-Israeli Palestinian Arabs who live in the Palestinian Authority? In fact, don't all states have the right to determine what if any non-citizens actually can become citizens?
He adds to this the outright lie that "most (Palestinian Arabs) live under Israeli military rule." That's absurd. Most, the vast majority, live under Palestinian Authority or Hamas rule. These are simple facts he willfully misrepresents.
Carter inflates the number of Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria, "the West Bank," (or what he calls Palestine) by some 50 percent, from some 400,000 to 600,000. He must have his head back during his presidency when inflation was at record highs. Either way, he's deliberately and maliciously wrong.
There are many narratives that make up the conflict here, but willfully ignoring and misrepresenting facts is below the belt. Carter has ingested the Palestinian Kool Aid, and with it ascribes 100 percent blame of Israel, and a 100 percent pass for the Palestinians. In the world, according to Carter, Israel can do no right, and the Palestinians can do no wrong.
For instance, Carter not only ignores that thousands of Israelis (and Americans) have been killed and maimed by Palestinian Arab terror against Israel since he left office, but in his infamous book accusing Israel of apartheid, he even suggests that such terror is legitimate. Carter ignores the dozens of terror tunnels built, and thousands of rockets fired by his friends in Hamas, excusing their behavior as "boys will be boys," disregarding the abject theft of resources that could be used to build the state of Palestine for which he advocates rather than destroying Israel. Carter turns a blind eye to Hamas' use of civilians as human shields, the definition of a war crime if there ever were one.
World leaders decried and condemned Hamas' human rights violation including President Obama, Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Prime Minister Cameron, Chancellor Merkel, President Hollande and Prime Minister Harper. President Clinton's comments were perhaps most clear, "Hamas was perfectly aware of what would happen if they started raining rockets into Israel. They fired 1,000 and they have a strategy designed to force Israel to kill their own civilians so that the rest of the world will condemn them. They (Israel) know when Hamas attacks them that Hamas has set up a situation which politically it can't lose, because they (Israelis) can say, 'Well if I attack them back they always hide behind civilians and I'll kill civilians, and if I don't we'll look like fools letting somebody shoot a thousand rockets at us and not responding."
Yet Carter remains deaf, dumb and mute.
And Carter doesn't seem to blink at the notion that his "Palestine" would be Judenrein, forbidden for Jews to live there, albeit contradicting the very 1947 Partition Plan vote on whose anniversary he writes. One might term this "pick and choose diplomacy."
On a 2009 visit to Israel, Carter visited my neighborhood south of Jerusalem and refered to this as areas Israel would not have to cede in a final status solution.
While it's not up to Carter what Israel should or shouldn't cede, he contradicts himself by referring to the "illegality of all Israeli settlements." Carter represents it as if there are not equally valid conflicting legal opinions. He preaches as if his is view is gospel, as if his initials imbue him with the sense of divinity of another more famous J.C. If such communities were illegal, what gives Carter the right to decide what can or can't stay Israeli in the event of a peace agreement with our neighbors?
Carter purports to be a Christian, but someone must have taken an eraser to his Bible, purging reference to God giving the land of Israel to the Jewish people. Someone please send him a new Bible and pray that he changes his ways.
I have followed Jimmy Carter since I was a student at Emory, when Carter started what we called his presidency in exile. He remains angry that he lost the 1980 election, and that Prime Minister Begin did not roll over and do everything Carter wanted in peace talks with Egypt. I have challenged Carter on his half-truths and misrepresentations in person and in writing.
We were used to this then, and sadly nothing has changed. His anti-Israel venom spreads like brain cancer and is a disease that he uses to infect others.
He needs to be called out and not allowed to let these misrepresentations go unchallenged. President Reagan's rebuke remains valid today as it was then.

In the aftermath of fires across Israel, many lit by pyro-terrorists, there is a renewed tendency to identify terrorists by their ethnicity. But terrorism against Jewish Israelis, like all anti-Semitism, is not an ethnic issue; it is an ideological one. Israeli citizens, Walid abu-Ahmed and Ziad Yunis, prove it. READ MORE...

On the coast of the Mediterranean in northern Israel, the city of Dor was once a Canaanite stronghold. Conquered by Israel's most famous general, Joshua, it became a city of Asher, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Hundreds of years later, it fell under Roman rule. This year the waters of Dor yielded up a stone with a Greek inscription. Naming a Roman procurator, it has resolved an almost one hundred year old debate. READ MORE...

REPORT: OBAMA NOT INCLINED FOR LAST-MINUTE MOVE AGAINST ISRAEL

For almost two years, US President Obama has been toying with the idea of doing the very thing that former President Jimmy Carter advised in a New York Times op-ed last Monday: lead the way for the UN to step in and create a Palestinian State. According to an AP report published today, Obama has "nearly" ruled out taking action before leaving office seven weeks from today. Nearly. READ MORE...

Our primary financial need is to pay those who write for us. Many do so at no charge. Even so, every laborer deserves to be paid. Inasmuch as we pay our reporters, we facilitate their lives in Israel, encourage them and insure more and better stories in the future.
There is also a need to go on location where stories are happening stories. Because we are already in the Middle East, we do not have to go far. Still, there is a cost in sending reporters to places "on the ground" where stories are happening. Partner with us in this work through your monthly donation.

God Rains Down Divine Retribution Upon Detractors of Israel

“And if in spite of these things ye will not be corrected unto Me, but will walk contrary unto Me; then will I also walk contrary unto you; and I will smite you, even I, seven times for your sins.” (Leviticus 26:23-24)
Margot Wallström, Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, has earned a reputation for Israel-bashing. The first blatant anti-Israel offense came in 2014, when she became the first European Union foreign minister to recognize the state of Palestine.
After the horrifying terror attacks in Paris last November, she came out with a statement linking Islamic anger to the lack of a two-state solution. Even worse, after months of terror in which Palestinians were attacking Israelis in the streets on an almost daily basis,  she accused Israel in January of carrying out “extrajudicial executions”.
Israel reacted through diplomatic channels, but a more powerful force stepped in. Three days after Wallström accused Israel of executing Palestinians, it was revealed that she had jumped to the head of an eight-year waiting list for apartments owned by a labor union. Stockholm is suffering from a serious shortage of housing and this was viewed by the Swedish public as an egregious misuse of her position. Anti-corruption prosecutors are investigating the case now to determine if it constitutes bribery, which carries a potential two-year prison term.
This type of instant karma is the rule and not the exception when it comes to politicians that treat Israel badly. One of the clearest examples of divine slap-down came on January 21, 1998, when US President Bill Clinton gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a decidedly cold reception at the White House, and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright refused to have lunch with Netanyahu. Things looked grim for Israel, but later that day, the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke out, ultimately resulting in Clinton’s impeachment.
President George H.W. Bush signed the Oslo Accords on October 30, 1991, setting the stage for the disastrous “Land for Peace” process. The very next day, a hurricane dubbed “The Perfect Storm” hit the east coast of the United States, destroying Bush’s house in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Occasionally, divine intervention can take an ironic turn. As president, Jimmy Carter was not nearly as involved with Israel as he has been since leaving office. In his book, Palestine: Peace not Apartheid, he blames Israel’s “colonization of Palestinian land” as being “the primary obstacle to a comprehensive peace agreement”.
Carter was a proponent of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) since it seemed to produce results and bear pressure on Israel to negotiate. He has also met with many leaders of Hamas and during the 2014 war in Gaza, called for Israel to negotiate with Hamas.
Wear the Jerusalem sky
One year later, he was diagnosed with cancer and melanomas were found in his brain and liver. After only a few months of treatment, the doctors  pronounced him cancer-free. Pembrolizumab, a drug developed in Israel, was a key element in his treatment. His adherence to boycotting Israeli products and innovations obviously had its limits.
Carter’s miracle cure may not have been solely attributed to Israeli science. His sins against the Jewish people may have been forgiven in December 2009, when Carter published an open letter apologizing for any words or deeds that may have upset the Jewish community. In the letter, he said he was offering an Al Het, a prayer of repentance, said on Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement.
Divine retribution is not restricted to non-Jews. Ariel Sharon had achieved almost legendary status in Israel. After a spectacular army career, he entered politics and, at the head of the Likud party, was elected prime minister in 2001. He endorsed the Roadmap for Peace and began plans to remove the Jewish population of Gush Katif from the Gaza Strip. The dismantling of the Jewish settlements was scheduled for August 15th, 2005, the day after Tisha b’Av, the anniversary of both Jewish Temples being destroyed.
In July, one month before the IDF dismantled Gush Katif and evicted almost 9,000 Jews from their homes, Rabbi Yosef Dayan, a member of the nascent Sanhedrin who can trace his lineage back to King David, led a group of ten rabbis in performing an obscure, ancient Kabbalistic ceremony, the Pulsa diNura, on Sharon. The Pulsa diNura invokes the angels of destruction to block heavenly forgiveness of the subject’s sins, causing all the curses named in the Bible to befall him and resulting in his death.
Sharon’s health deteriorated, and by January, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, entering a vegetative state from which he never recovered. Rabbi Dayan also led rabbis in the Pulsa diNura against Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin a few months before he was assassinated. Rabin was shot and killed in 1995 by Yigal Amir, an extremist who  opposed Rabin’s peace initiative and particularly the signing of the Oslo Accords.
Rabbi Dayan told Breaking Israel News that none of these events were simple coincidence, but divine justice. “Today, there isn’t prophecy. God presents circumstances for us to try to understand him, to express our belief in him,” he explained. “These aren’t things that happen by chance or coincidence. This is not just true for politics, but it is also true for politics. Politicians are, after all, simple servants of God, no less or more than the rest of us.”

Israeli Leaders Snub Jimmy Carter

Israeli Leaders Snub Jimmy Carter

Tuesday, April 21, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
Former US President Jimmy Carter is expected in the Holy Land sometime in the next two weeks, but he’ll only succeed in fulfilling half of his mission to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
Both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, following consultations with the Foreign Ministry and Israel’s National Security Council, have declined invitations to meet with Carter.
A Foreign Ministry official told Channel 10 News that Carter is “a disaster for Israel,” and that all Israeli leaders should refrain from meeting with him and including him in the peace process.
Carter is widely viewed here as holding strong anti-Israel positions, especially after his previous defense of Hamas.
During last summer’s Gaza war, Carter insisted that Israel had “no justification” for responding militarily to escalating Hamas rocket attacks.
The former peanut farmer-turned-president has long blamed what he calls “Israel’s continued control and colonization of Palestinian land” as the primary obstacle to peace and stability in the Middle East.

Seriously? Israel, Jews Said Behind Paris Attacks

Seriously? Israel, Jews Said Behind Paris Attacks

Wednesday, January 14, 2015 |  Ryan Jones  ISRAEL TODAY
It’s inevitable. Any time there is a high profile terrorist attack, someone, somewhere will say the Jews did it. And that is precisely what is starting to happen following last week’s string of shootings that took the lives of 17 innocent people in Paris.
I’m not talking about the BBC reporter who told a Jewish descendant of Holocaust survivors, of all people, that in the eyes of some, the Paris attacks could appear justified in light of what he called Israel’s maltreatment of the Palestinians.
I’m not even talking about former US President Jimmy Carter, who more explicitly blamed Israel not only for the Paris attacks, but for Muslim agitation and aggression across Europe.
I’m talking about people who believe that Jews directly planned, financed and personally carried out the Paris attacks.
Sadly, or perhaps tellingly, these people are not some fringe lunatics or conspiracy theorists, but rather are normal French Muslims and government officials in the Muslim world.
A reporter for the online news magazine The Daily Beast said that French Algerian Muslims she interviewed in Paris were largely of the opinion that the attacks were a Jewish plot to make Islam look bad.
Dana Kennedy told MSNBC that one interviewee went so far as to claim the perpetrators “weren’t just regular Jews…but a race of magical shape-shifting Jews that were master manipulators that could be everywhere at the same time.”
As outlandish as it might sound, these are the types of libelous fairytales many Muslims across the Middle East are taught about Israel and the Jews at large.
If average French Muslims aren’t a serious enough source, the mayor of the Turkish capital of Ankara, Melih Gokcek, also got in on the act.
Gokcek told a political rally following the Paris attacks that “it is certain that [Israel’s] Mossad is behind these kinds of incidents. Mossad enflames Islamophobia by causing such incidents.”
