"Your Brother's Blood Cries Out to Me!" ✡ Solomon's Ecclesiastes Comes to Life - ISRAEL365

And He said, "What have you done? Hark!
Your brother's blood cries out to Me from the earth."

וַיֹּאמֶר מֶה עָשִׂיתָ קוֹל דְּמֵי אָחִיךָ צֹעֲקִים אֵלַי מִן הָאֲדָמָה

בראשית ד:י

va-yo-mer me a-see-ta kol d'-may a-khee-kha tzo-a-keem ay-lai min ha-a-da-ma

Today's Israel Inspiration

Here's why we look to the original, holy language of Hebrew to understand the Bible! While our English verse refers to "your brother's blood", in fact, the original Hebrew text contains a small but significant difference. The Hebrew word for "blood" is written in the plural - "bloods/d'-may." Our Sages describe that Cain shed not only the blood of Abel, but all of Abel's descendants, whose blood "cries out" to God Himself. Today, Shurat HaDin, Israel's non-profit law center, "cries out" on behalf of thousands of Jewish and Israeli victims of Arab terror. Its remarkable battle for justice in international courts has succeeded in cutting off funding to terrorists, and has saved countless lives in Israel and worldwide. Join with Shurat HaDin in its divine mission, and give a voice to terror victims, as God did when He spoke for the murdered Abel.

Solomon's Ecclesiastes Comes to Life: "A Time to Speak Out"

King Solomon said there's a time for war and a time for peace; a time to be silent and a time to speak out. In this powerful 3-minute video, see how families of terror victims, and their representatives, speak out to stop Israel's enemies. Now this is bravery!

Guess What is the Oxygen that Feeds Terror?

As terror continues to plague the world, it becomes clearer by the day that stopping these atrocities through intelligence, security forces and military action is not enough.

Strive for Perfection and Peace... Israel Today Staff

Strive for Perfection and Peace...

Wednesday, November 18, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
The Hebrew language is more than a means of communication. It leads us into a deeper understanding of our faith. We need to both understand the ancient idiom of the language and the structure of words formed from their roots.
Let's take the two words "Jerusalem" & "Solomon" - Yerushalayim (ירושלים) & Shlomo (שלמה) respectively in Hebrew. Both names are constructed from the root שלמ. This the same root that is contained in "shalom" (peace), "shlemut" (perfection), "shalem" (wholeness), "shilem" (paid for), etc. The idea that is collectively conveyed by these words is "wholeness" or "perfection"!
The city of Jerusalem is also called "perfect" or the "perfect city", and during the reign of King Solomon, she came closest to being such. Shlomo built the First Temple in Jerusalem - the place that God chose for His glory or presence (Shekinah) to dwell on earth. This glory and incomparable peace will be experienced again felt in the coming of the Messiah once again to Jerusalem the eternal city chosen by God.
We are offering new anointing oils, "Light of Jerusalem" and "King Solomon" which, when used, will remind each of us to strive for God's perfection and peace...

COMMENTARY: A Time to Mourn and a Time to Dance - ISRAEL TODAY

COMMENTARY: A Time to Mourn and a Time to Dance

Sunday, August 16, 2015 |  Charles Gardner  ISRAEL TODAY
There is a season for everything under heaven, according to the wisdom of Solomon. And I’m specifically thinking of his dictum that there’s “a time to mourn and a time to dance”. (Ecclesiastes 3.4)
Black clouds of impending doom are swooping down upon us all, and especially on God’s ancient people, but the rainbow of ultimate peace also lies ahead, and we should not be too downhearted.
On September 14 there will be much rejoicing as Jews everywhere celebrate their New Year in a month set to witness some quite extraordinary, even alarming, events connected with the future of Israel. I will look at these in a moment.
We have just marked a time of mourning for Israel – a date known as the 9th of Av in the Jewish calendar (July 25 this year) which brings back bad memories of a past which has seen so many attempts to annihilate the Jewish nation.
For it was on this date that the First Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. And it was on the very same day 656 years later – in 70 AD – that the Romans destroyed the Second Temple. The Jews subsequently rebelled against their occupiers, but were brutally butchered in 133 AD – again on the 9th of Av – after which they were dispersed to all four corners of the earth.
This included England, from which they were expelled in 1290 AD – on the 9th of Av. Then in 1492 they were expelled from Spain and given four months to put their affairs in order and leave the country, the deadline for which was the 9th of Av.
Then came World War II and the Holocaust, said by historians to have been the long drawn-out conclusion of World War I, which broke out on the 9th of Av. And, it is said, the first gas chambers were put into use on the very same day of the year!
Understandably, the Jewish people have much to mourn. And our duty as Christians, grafted into the Olive Tree of God’s chosen people (Romans 11:11-24), is to love them, stand with them and pray for them.
A series of significant events are scheduled for September, starting with the New Year celebrations perhaps. The Pope will be visiting the White House to meet with the President on the holiest day of the Jewish Year (Yom Kippur, September 23). And a super-sized blood-red moon will shine over Jerusalem on September 28 during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). This will be the last of four successive blood moons (known as a tetrad) to coincide with the main Jewish feasts of Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015, a rare occurrence last witnessed in 1967 when, as a result of the Six-Day War, the Old City of Jerusalem came under Israeli control for the first time in 2,000 years.
In addition, the United Nations are said to be planning to declare a Palestinian state without Israel’s consent or input and there is also, of course, the ongoing threat of Hamas and Hezbollah along with that of a potentially nuclear-armed Iran whose leaders have made no bones about their intention to “wipe Israel off the map”. The recent deal negotiated with the big powers is, at best, only putting off the evil day rather than neutralizing a dangerous rogue state.
In the light of this, an 800-year-old rabbinic commentary is most revealing. Known to the Jewish world as the Yalkut Shimoni, it has been translated by Rabbi Nachman Kahana, a specific portion of which says:
“Paras (Persia-Iran) will be the dread of humanity. The world’s leaders will be frustrated in their futile efforts to save what they can, but to no avail. The people of Yisrael will also be petrified by the impending danger. And HaShem (the Lord) will say to us, ‘Why are you afraid? All of this I have done in order to bring you the awaited redemption. And this redemption will not be like the redemption from Egypt, which was followed by suffering. This redemption will be absolute, followed by peace.”
Various Jewish rabbis are now sensing that their Messiah is soon to come. The day is surely not far off when beleaguered Israel will recognize the One who has loved them with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31.3) and who is destined to reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years of perfect peace (Revelation 20.4).
Jesus told his disciples that his coming would follow an unprecedented period of distress after which “the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light”. (A total solar eclipse occurred in the midst of the current tetrad of blood moons).
“At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory,” he said. (Mark 13.24-26)

Why You Need to Pray Hard For This One Thing - JENNIFER LECLAIRE

Wisdom
When offered anything in the world, Solomon chose Wisdom. Will you? (Flickr/Andy Rennie)

The Plumb Line, by Jennifer LeClaire
I pray for many things every day. I pray for my family, my friends, my ministry, my nation—and, of course, myself. I pray for protection. I pray for a deeper revelation of God's love and over my life. I pray for grace.
But there's one thing I've been praying for more and more lately—and I am convinced that if we would pray more for this one thing we would make better use of our time, live happier lives, and ultimately see more answers to our prayers.
What is this one thing I've been praying for more and more lately? Wisdom. I believe if we pray more for spiritual wisdom—even if it means praying less for natural needs—we'll receive more wisdom and our natural needs will be more than met.
Take a Hint From Solomon
We could all take a hint from Solomon. You know the story. The Lord appealed to Solomon in a dream and made this invitation: "Ask! What shall I give you?" Can you imagine the Lord coming to you in a dream and making such an invitation? What would you ask God for if you could ask and assuredly receive anything?
It seems Solomon had enough wisdom to ask for the principal thing: wisdom. Solomon replied to God's invitation with these words: "Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" (1 Kings 3:9).
That made God happy. Let's see how He responded:
"Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days" (1 Kings 3:10-14).
All I can say to that is, "wow" and "amen."
What Wisdom Will Do for You
God is no respecter of persons (see Acts 10:34). You can receive the wisdom you need to walk according to God's plan for you. James clearly stated that "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). The only catch is you have to ask in faith, without doubting. That's not much of a catch and it shouldn't be too hard to do. God wants to give you wisdom so you can walk wise, making the best use of your time because the days are evil (Eph. 5:15-17).
Let's check out what Solomon had to say in the wake of receiving such great wisdom: "Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her" (Prov. 3:3-18).
My Prayer for You
Wisdom begets wisdom. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge (see Prov. 18:15). The wise man listens to advice (see Prov. 12:15). A man's wisdom makes his face shine (see Eccl. 8:1). By wisdom your house is built (see Prov. 24:3). Wise ones are cautious and turn away from evil (see Prov. 14:16). The words of the wise win him favor (see Eccl. 10:12). The wise will inherit honor (see Prov. 3:35). Wisdom will keep and guard you if you love it (see Prov. 4:6-7). I could go on and on and encourage you to do a study of the benefits of walking in God's wisdom.
When we receive wisdom, it's important that we acknowledge its source. The Lord gives wisdom (see Prov. 2:6). We should never be wise in our own eyes (see Prov. 3:7). But we should humbly pray for wisdom more and more. So these are my prayers. I pray like Solomon, who said, "Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil" (1 Kings 3:9).
And I pray like Paul, who asked, "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come" (Eph. 1:17-21).
And I pray the Lord would give you wisdom, too. Amen.

Today's Israel Inspiration

We learn beautiful insight into Solomon's role as king of Jerusalem just by studying his Hebrew name. In Hebrew, Solomon is שלמה/she-lo-MO. Look for the root of the word and you'll see שלום/sha-LOM, peace! King Solomon built the first Temple in Jerusalem, without "hammers, chisels or any iron instruments" (I Kings 6:7), so that no instruments of war would be used and peace would be built into its very foundation. It symbolized complete peace between man and God and between all the nations of the world.

Amazing Replica of Solomon's Temple

This fascinating video gives a vision of Solomon's Temple as it once stood in Jerusalem. All of its intricate details were accurately culled from the Bible to present a beautiful and inspiring replica.
