Israel Threatens to Return Lebanon to the 'Stone Age' - Israel Today

Israel Threatens to Return Lebanon to the 'Stone Age'

Sunday, December 17, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
In a rare interview with Saudi Arabian media, a top Israeli government minister last week threatened to return neighboring Lebanon "to the Stone Age."
Israel Intelligence Affairs Minister Yisrael Katz was speaking to the Saudi online newspaper Elaph when he was asked about the threat of increased Iranian arms supplies to Lebanon's Hezbollah terrorist militia.
"The more accurate that Hezbollah's missiles get, the stronger and wider Israel's strike will be," Katz warned. "What happened in 2006 will be a picnic compared to what we can do. I remember a Saudi minister saying they will send Hezbollah back to their caves in south Lebanon. I am telling you that we will return Lebanon to the Stone Age."
Israel has expressed growing concern that Iran is exploiting Syria's ongoing civil war to bolster its own military presence in both that country and neighboring Lebanon, all with the purpose of eventually making good on its promise to wipe Israel off the map.
Saudi Arabia, too, does not look kindly on Iranian expansionism, and the topic has led to increased cooperation between the oil-rich Arab kingdom and the Jewish state.
Katz went so far as to suggest Israel would be happy to see Saudi Arabia take a leading role in Middle East peace negotiations. He also publicly invited Saudi Arabia's progressive Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Israel.

Report: Syria Threatens to Fire SCUD Missiles at Israel - Israel Today

Report: Syria Threatens to Fire SCUD Missiles at Israel

Thursday, April 06, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
The regime of embattled Syrian dictator Bashar Assad has reportedly threatened to fire SCUD missiles at Israel if it carries out any more strikes on Syrian soil.
Since the start of the Syrian civil war, Israel is believed to have struck select targets in Syria on several occasions. Most often, the targets were dangerous weapons shipments to the Hezbollah terrorist militia, which is allied with Assad.
Israeli forces have also returned fire into Syria numerous times following artillery attacks on the Golan Heights by rebel groups.
In a message to Israel reported in the Lebanese outlet Al-Diyar, the Assad regime warned: “Syria could retaliate against Israel by firing Scud missiles should the latter strike Syria one more time.”
Syria is estimated to have upwards of 800 SCUD missiles, each capable of delivering a payload of half a ton of explosives in the best scenario, and chemical warheads in the worst.
Most believe Syria’s other ally, Russia, would prevent Assad from attacking Israel. But as a last ditch effort to hang on to power, such an attack cannot be easily dismissed.

Hezbollah Threatens to Invade Israel, Destroy Jewish State - Israel Today

Hezbollah Threatens to Invade Israel, Destroy Jewish State

Sunday, August 21, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff

A top Hezbollah leader this month said that the Lebanese terrorist militia is now capable of not only firing missiles at Israel, but can also launch a ground invasion of the Jewish state.
“Israel is closer than ever before to its demise,” Lebanese cleric Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, said in an interview with Mayadeen TV.
Asked by the host if Hezbollah had the capability of waging a ground war on Israeli soil, Safieddine insisted that it did.
“Even more than that. We have that capability,” stated Safieddine, prompting the host to wonder, “Even further than the Galilee?”
“We have that capability. Of course,” replied Safieddine, suggesting that Hezbollah believes itself capable of penetrating deep into the heart of Israel.
