Israel Honors Christian Zionists - CBN News Tzippe Barrow,Chris Mitchell

Israel Honors Christian Zionists
CBN News Tzippe Barrow, Chris Mitchell  Nov. 10, 2017
JERUSALEM, Israel – Some described the Knesset program honoring Christian Zionist volunteers as extraordinary. Coming on the heels of last month's Christian Media Conference it seemed to add new momentum to the government's effort to strengthen ties with Christians.
Zack Waller, who served as master of ceremonies, opened the event by thanking Knesset member Sharren Haskel for putting together the Salute to Christian Volunteers. He also thanked the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus and HaYovel for their part in organizing the event.
House speaker Yuli Edelstein took time out of his busy day to thank the many Christian organizations for all they are doing to support the Jewish state. He said knowing the Bible probably "makes the whole difference."
"There is something very moving. I'm trying, it's always very difficult, I'm trying to put myself in your shoes. And I'm talking to people right now who know the Bible, who read the Bible, who love the Bible. And this probably makes the whole difference," Edelstein said.
"When you all of a sudden, it's like in all of these kids' movies, you like move inside the Bible. You're right there inside the screen, with the vineyards again in Samaria, in the Shomron area and with young and old sitting in the streets of Jerusalem. All of a sudden you're not watching the movie; you're part of the movie. You're not reading the book. You're inside the book doing things. And I think it's a great privilege. It's a privilege for everyone. You can all of a sudden touch history, touch the Bible," he said.

HaYovel is one of those organizations. For more than a decade, founder and President Tommy Waller, his wife, Sherri, and their 11 children have brought hundreds of Christians to Israel to help with planting, pruning and harvesting tons of grapes from the plush vineyards of Judea and Samaria, Israel's biblical heartland. Participants also have opportunities to tour different parts of the country and experience Israeli life firsthand.
After the event, Waller told CBN News it shows what can happen when Christians are in one accord.
"You know I was thinking that the most amazing thing that happened in Christian history…was when the Holy Spirit was poured out…when we were in one accord here in Jerusalem. We've got to get back there. We've got to get back to this place where Christians can agree on Jerusalem again. If we want to see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we've got to agree on Jerusalem," he said. "Replacement theology has to be replaced. We have to get back to this reality of standing with the promises of God."
For nearly 13 years, the Wallers have worked closely with government officials to facilitate their work. They've also developed lasting friendships with Israeli farmers, their families and communities.
The government honored these volunteers, numbering in the thousands, with a special program on the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration (on the Hebrew calendar). Everyone seemed to agree that Israel has no better friends than Christian Zionists.
But something more extraordinary took place in that auditorium. There was a sense of Christians and Jews coming together to build on shared values.
Beginning with the opening address by MK Sharren Haskel, the audience listened to rabbis, laymen and Christian leaders talk about what they have in common with one another rather than what separates them.
Haskel spoke of Jews who walked to this land and the great challenges they faced. She spoke of the patriarch Abraham, who rejected the idol worship where he grew up and chose to follow God. She talked about the value of observing a biblical Shabbat, setting the day aside for rest and family time. She relayed how God protected Israel through wars and how it created a healthy economy with its many start-ups and innovations.
Afterward, Haskel told CBN News, "Well it's just an amazing feeling because throughout history Israel didn't have – or Jews in general – didn't have many people who supported, helped them. It's only a few individuals. And to have a room full of people, heads of organizations, the organization HaYovel has brought so many volunteers to come here to Israel, to support Israel, to love and pray for us, I cannot explain what an incredible feeling that is."
Other Christians and Israelis addressed the crowd, each involved in his or her own unique outreach. Sharon Sanders with Christian Friends of Israel said "healing has come out of pain and the intolerance of history."
"We cast our lots for you," she said, "shoulder to shoulder, friends stand together."
Jan Willem van der Hoeven, with the International Christian Zionist Center, called the event "amazing."
"This is amazing what is happening here. It is a hundred years after [Lord] Balfour who himself was a believer and was pushed by his aunt who was a real Christian Zionist, who was the one that God used in England 100 years ago to open up Israel for the Jews to come back," vam der Hoeven told CBN News.
In between speakers, participants were treated to some footage from a stunning new documentary entitled "I Am Israel."
David Kiern, who has produced and directed the film, shared how God moved on his heart on a 10-day tour three years ago during his first visit to Israel. He advised others to "come here to get the real story."
Many Christians who have lived here for years don't want to be anywhere else. They've adapted to the culture and put down roots in what they often refer to as the Holy Land.
At the end of Monday's program, everyone seemed to agree. The God of Israel and their strong belief in the veracity of the Bible binds them together.
Many acknowledged that in Israel, the Bible literally comes alive. Viewing the land and the people through a biblical lens brings clarity unlike anything else. These Christians who love Israel's God have gotten a hold of that. They believe they're called to undergird the Jewish state in whatever way God leads them.
This shared perspective forges an unbreakable bond between Jews and Christians.

Albert Einstein Wanted to Know 'God's Thoughts' - So What Does God Think About Israel?
Oct. 16, 2017 CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Twentieth century physicist Albert Einstein, perhaps best known for his theories on relativity (E = mc2), once said, "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details."
Thankfully, God's thoughts have been recorded for us in the canon of Scripture: 66 books, written by 40 ent authors over a period of 1,500 years. Not one word is irrelevant or haphazard. The more we study it, the more profound its life-changing message.
But setting aside time to study the Word can be enormously challenging in today's busy world. Many verses speak of His covenant with Israel.
"But I am the Lord your God Who divided the sea whose waves roared, the Lord of hosts is His name. And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth and say to Zion, 'You are My people.'" (Isaiah 51:15-16)
It's been said we inherit the world's system by default, but understanding God's point of view takes more effort on our part. It comes by meditating on His Word and allowing it to reshape our thinking and draw us closer to Him. When we see people and events through the Word, it's a whole new perspective – very different than what's found in the media, especially when it comes to Israel.
"Remember these, O Jacob and Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you." (Isaiah 44:21-22)
In today's tumultuous world, there seems to be more bad news than good. Media vies for our attention, often capitalizing on the bad news.
That reality is never more evident than in stories about Israel. There's no lack of explanations as to why Israel and the Jewish people have been targeted throughout the centuries. Yet despite sincere efforts by many, that predisposition doesn't appear to be diminishing.
So we're left with a choice. We can believe the media or we can believe God.
If we believe God will bring to fruition all that He's purposed, then we can bring everything before Him in prayer and trust the outcome to Him. Our challenge is to want His will to be done, His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
God set Israel apart from the rest of the nations and He will fulfill everything He's promised His covenant land and people.
"Hear the word of the Lord, O nations and declare it in the isles afar off and say, 'For the Lord has redeemed Jacob and ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he.' Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of the Lord – for wheat and new wine and oil, for the young of the flock and the herd; their souls shall be like a well-watered garden and they shall sorrow no more at all. (Jeremiah 31:10-12)

Why Israel Has a 9/11 Memorial, and How They're Honoring the Victims

CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Monday marks the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on Manhattan's World Trade Center.
On that infamous day, people across the globe watched in disbelief as two hijacked jet airliners crashed into the twin towers. A short time later, a third hit the Pentagon and a fourth airliner, headed to Capitol Hill or the White House, crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed and more than twice that many injured in the deadliest multi-pronged terror attack in American history.
Every year on the anniversary of 9/11, Israelis gather to honor the memories of those who perished at the hands of suicidal jihadists.
The annual event, sponsored by KKL/JNF (Keren Kayemet l'Yisrael/Jewish National Fund), JNF-USA and the Israeli Embassy, takes place at the 9/11 Living Memorial in the Arazim Valley in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood.
Speakers at this year's memorial included KKL-JNF CEO Amnon Ben-Ami, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Iowa Gov. Kimberly Reynolds, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, and Israeli Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan.
"It is so fitting that the State of Israel is the only foreign nation to erect a 9/11 memorial, which includes the name of every victim lost on that tragic day," Amb. Friedman told participants. "Israel and the United States forever will be joined in the battle against – and ultimately the defeat of – radical Islamic terrorism."
Ben-Ami said the monument illustrates the shared fate of the two allies standing together against "the face of radicalism."
"The strategic alliance between our two countries is founded on the same values that terrorism is out to destroy: progress, prosperity, morality and peace," he said.
Among the U.S. and Israeli delegations taking part in this year's ceremony were representatives of the Texas State Association of Firefighters and a delegation of Israeli firefighters, U.S. marines and law enforcement officers, Nefesh B'Nefesh, the Anti-Defamation LeagueYoung Judaea and students from the Alexander Muss High School.
This year, 52 U.S. police officers, who arrived in Israel as part of the Police Unity Tour, attended the memorial. Established in 1997, the Police Unity Tour honors law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
The Beit Shemesh Police Academy housed the delegation and helped coordinate counterterrorism training exercises during their stay.
The 9/11 Living Memorial is the largest memorial site commemorating the 9/11 terror victims outside of the United States. Created by Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff and KKL-JNF landscape architect Yechiel Cohen, the 30-foot-high bronze sculpture features an American flag folded in the shape of a memorial flame and a metal shard from the ruins of the Twin Towers embedded in the base.

Israel Hatred from Virginia to Spain - CBN News Tzippe Barrow

Israel Hatred from Virginia to Spain

CBN News Tzippe Barrow

Aug. 18, 2017
JERUSALEM, Israel – Islamic terrorists in Spain, claiming affiliation with ISIS, shouted anti-Israel slurs not unlike those heard earlier this week in Charlottesville, Virginia. Thursday's car-ramming attack at a popular outdoor shopping mall in Barcelona killed 13 and injured more than 100 others.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on "the civilized world" to unite in its fight against terrorism.
"Israel strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Barcelona. On behalf of the citizens of Israel, I send condolences to the families of those who were killed and wishes for a quick recovery to the injured. This evening we again saw that terror strikes everywhere; the civilized world must fight it together in order to defeat it."
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin expressed the same sentiments in a letter Spanish King Filipe VI.
"Terrorism is terrorism is terrorism, whether it takes place in Barcelona, Paris, Istanbul or Jerusalem. These horrific events once again prove that we must all stand united in the fight against those who seek to use violence to stifle individual liberty and freedom of thought and belief, and continue to destroy the lives of so many," he wrote. "The people of Israel share with me in mourning the sad loss of life and suffering."
Later the same day, Spanish officials linked two more terror attacks to the carnage in Barcelona – a car ramming in the seaside resort of Cambrils and a bombing in the town of Alcanar, which killed one person.
AP quoted a regional official saying there's a "connection" to the Barcelona attack that "follows the same trail." Security forces have one suspect in custody.
Police shot and killed five other suspects, at least one armed with a knife, after they rammed their vehicle into a police car and passersby. The five were reportedly carrying bomb belts, which were later detonated in controlled explosions.
Meanwhile, a few days before the driver rammed his vehicle into pedestrians at the outdoor mall in Barcelona, he told his followers on Facebook that Israelis murder Arab children and warned of a "global Jewish conspiracy," Arutz Sheva reported.
Wednesday's attack took place near two kosher restaurants – one named Maccabi Restaurant and the other Maoz Falafel (definitely Israel inspired) in the mall.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to the report, the driver – a Moroccan-born 28-year-old with European Union residency who has yet to be apprehended – has been pretty open about his anti-Israel agenda on Facebook. Nonetheless, Barcelona Chief Rabbi Meir Bar Chen said the attack did not target Jews.
While Barcelona police closed Jewish institutions as a precautionary measure, Arutz Sheva quoted Chen saying the attack was against every person created in God's image and wishing the injured "a full and speedy recovery."
"The Jewish community relies on the Spanish security services to do everything to secure the institutions of the community," he said, according to the report.
A few years ago, Netanyahu said today's anti-Israel propaganda is nothing more than anti-Semitism repackaged.

Archaeologists Unearth Roman Era Stone Water Pots near Biblical Cana - CBN News Tzippe Barrow,Julie Stahl

Archaeologists Unearth Roman Era Stone Water Pots near Biblical Cana

08-15-2017 CBN News Tzippe Barrow,  Julie Stahl

JERUSALEM, Israel – Israeli archaeologists are excavating a 2,000-year-old stone quarry and production center for stone vessels not far from the ancient city of Cana where Jesus performed his first recorded miracle, turning water into wine.

Archaeologists uncovered the small cave during construction work for a municipal sports center by Reina's local council. They are excavating two sites at Reina, about a kilometer (half mile) apart, just south of the modern village of Kafr Kanna in the lower Galilee. Scholars believe Kafr Kanna may be the site of biblical Cana.
"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine...Now there were six stone water jars set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty to thirty gallons each." (John 2:1-3, 6)
The excavations at Reina are the third and fourth such workshops uncovered to date in Israel. The other two were discovered decades ago near Jerusalem.
Excavation director Dr. Yonatan Adler, who is a senior lecturer at Ariel University, said the discovery attests to the importance of ritual purity in the lives of Galilean Jews during Jesus time.
"The reason for this curious choice of material seems to have been religious. According to ancient Jewish ritual law, vessels made of pottery are easily made impure and must be broken. Stone, on the other hand, was thought to be a material that can never become ritually impure, and as a result ancient Jews began to produce some of their everyday tableware from stone," he said.
Israel Antiquities Authority archaeologist Yardenna Alexandre, an expert in the Roman Era Galilee, says fragments of Roman era stone vessels have been found alongside pottery fragments in both rural and urban Jewish settings over the years.
"The fact that Jews at this time used stone vessels for religious reasons is well attested in the Talmudic sources and in the New Testament as well," Alexandre said. "It is possible that large stone containers of the type mentioned in the wedding at Cana of Galilee story may have been produced locally in [the] Galilee."
Ancient chisel marks covering the walls, ceiling and floor of the cave indicate it was a hewn cave.
Adler explained that the production waste unearthed in the cave indicate workers produced mainly mugs with handles and various sizes of bowls.
"The finished products were marketed throughout the region here in Galilee, and our finds provide striking evidence that Jews here were scrupulous regarding the purity laws," he said.

Taking God at His Word to Bless – and Not to Curse – Israel CBN News Tzippe Barrow

Taking God at His Word to Bless – and Not to Curse – Israel
06-12-2017
CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump gave a stirring speech in Saudi Arabia on the necessity of defeating Islamic terrorism. Leaders of Muslim-majority nations, including Egypt and Jordan, came to hear him speak on forming an international coalition to fight the spread of terrorism worldwide.
From Riyadh, the president flew to Israel where he expressed his deep friendship with the Jewish state. Israelis, nonetheless, were disappointed when he decided not to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, at least for now.
Trump reasoned such a move could impede progress in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The president has been told – and may believe – that resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would have a ripple effect throughout the region.
But what does the Bible say about God's plan for the Jewish nation?
The story of Balaam and Balak in Numbers 23-25 is about much more than a talking donkey. It reveals God's eternal and unchangeable plan for Israel.
Balak, the king of Moab, didn't want the Israelites settling next to him. He'd heard what they'd done to the Amorites and it made him "sick with dread." So he got word to Balaam, a diviner with a powerful reputation who lived near the Euphrates River, and invited him to come and curse the Israelites, promising it would be well worth his time.
It didn't work. Balaam couldn't curse the nation God had blessed, though he tried three times. Apparently God had set Israel apart for His own purposes.
How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced? For from the top of the rocks I see him and from the hills I behold him; There! A people dwelling alone, not reckoning itself among the nations. (Numbers 23:8-9)
And again God spoke through Balaam.
God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said and will He not do? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good?
Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
It's futile to curse His chosen ones, the diviner, summoned by the king, learned.
For there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel, 'Oh, what God has done! (Num. 23:23)
Instead, God opened Balaam's eyes to see His plan for Israel.
How lovely are your tents, O Jacob! Your dwellings, O Israel! Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you. ((Numbers 24:5, 9b)
Then Balaam foretold what will take place in the latter days, mentioning both Israel and Jordan's future in the prophecy.
I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Jacob, a Scepter shall rise out of Israel and batter the brow of Moab and destroy all the sons of tumult. And Edom shall be a possession; Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly. (Num. 24:17-18)
Fast forward to the 21st century.
President Trump's plan may be a good one for now, and God may prosper his efforts. But when the nations stake claim to Jerusalem, to divide the city, God will intervene, as only He can, in what promises to be a divine light show unlike anything the world has seen.
So no matter what it looks like or how it unfolds, God will fulfill his plan for Israel. It's fascinating to watch it play out in the headlines. He turned Balaam's cursing into blessing. May He grant the nations ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to understand what the Spirit of the Lord is saying today.
