It’s Official: Over A Trillion Dollars A Year Will Be Added To The Debt During Obama’s Presidency - MICHAEL SNYDER THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

America Is Broke

Posted: 21 Dec 2015   MICHAEL SNYDER    THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Under Barack Obama, the U.S. national debt has risen from $10,626,877,048,913.08 on January 20th, 2009 to $18,795,033,928,275.59 on December 21st, 2015.  That means that the debt that we are passing on to future generations has increased by 8.16 trillion dollars since Barack Obama was inaugurated.  There is still a little more than a year to go in Obama’s presidency, and it is already guaranteed that Obama will add more than a trillion dollars a year to the national debt during his presidency.

In fact, when you do the math, we are stealing more than 100 million dollars from future generations of Americans every single hour of every single day.  It is a crime of a magnitude that is almost unimaginable, and at this point it is mathematically impossible for the U.S. government to pay off all of this debt.  To say that we are in trouble would be a massive understatement.

And of course not all of the blame goes to Obama.  The Republicans have had control of the House of Representatives for all but two years while Obama has been in the White House, and they have gone along with all of this reckless spending.  Without the approval of the House, Obama could not spend a single penny, but the Republicans have consistently chosen not to stand up to him.

In fact, the Republicans in Congress just approved another massive 1.2 trillion dollar spending bill that essentially gave the Democrats every single thing that they wanted.  House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi even admitted that the Republicans “were willing to concede so much” during the negotiations.

So why do we even have a Republican Party?  They always just go along with pretty much whatever the Democrats want anyway.  Why shouldn’t we just disband the Republican Party and let the Democrats completely run things?  How would Washington D.C. be any different if the Republicans didn’t even exist?

At this point, even Rush Limbaugh is completely disgusted with the Republican Party…
I have a headline here from the Washington Times:  “White House Declares Total Victory Over GOP in Budget Battle.” That headline’s a misnomer.  There was never a battle.  None of this was opposed.  The Republican Party didn’t stand up to any of it, and the die has been cast for a long time on this.  I know many of you are dispirited, depressed, angry, combination of all of that. But, folks, there was no other way this could go. Because two years ago when the Republican Party declared they would never do anything that would shut down the government and they would not impeach Obama, there were no obstacles in Obama’s way and there were no obstacles in the way of the Democrat Party.
Do you remember when Republican politicians were running around promising that they would defund Obamacare?

That didn’t happen.

Do you remember when Republican politicians were running around promising that they would defund Planned Parenthood?

That didn’t happen.

Do you remember when Republican politicians were running around promising that they would defund Obama’s refugee program?

That didn’t happen.

In this new spending deal, the Republicans got nothing.  It was a sham, a farce and a total insult to the American people.  Here is more from Rush Limbaugh
It fully funds Planned Parenthood.  That, to me, is unforgivable, with everything now known about what goes on behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood, and that the federal government, led by a Republican Party, sees fit to pay for it.  It is beyond comprehension, and it is a total squandering of moral authority to fully fund the butchery at Planned Parenthood.  This spending bill fully pays for Obama’s refugee plans, fully.  This spending bill, this budget bill quadruples the number of visas Obama wants for foreign workers.  This is even a slap at American union workers.  Not the leaders.  The union leaders seem to be in favor of it, but blue-collar people, known as working people, have been sold down the river along with everybody else here.
This spending bill even fully pays for every dime asked for by Obama on all of this idiocy that’s tied up into climate change.  Everything Obama wanted, everything he asked for, he got.  You go down the list of things, it’s there.
Even after watching all of the undercover Planned Parenthood videos that came out over the past year, the Republicans in Congress still voted to fund the harvesting and sale of body parts from aborted babies.

And surveys have found that the American people support the continued funding of Planned Parenthood by about a 2 to 1 margin.  After everything that we have seen, the vast majority of Americans still want to continue giving those butchers hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars a year.

No wonder so many people are comparing America to Nazi Germany these days.  We truly have become an exceedingly wicked nation.

We like to think that we are an “example” for the rest of the planet, but in reality the only example that we are is a bad one.  Our guilt has been put on display for all the world to see, and yet we just continue to race toward even more evil.

Not only did the Republicans not defund Planned Parenthood, the truth is that not a single pro-life amendment of any sort even got into the bill thanks to Paul Ryan.  The following comes from lifesitenews.com
“The bill failed to include a single major pro-life policy rider, despite the requests of over 120 members of Congress and the disturbing revelations about Planned Parenthood brought to light this year,” said Congresswoman Diane Black, R-TN, who voted against the bill.
The House Freedom Caucus offered a series of amendments to the bill defunding Planned Parenthood, strengthening conscience protections for pro-life physicians and organizations, and ending all U.S. funding for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The House Rules Committee rejected these riders earlier this week, as Speaker Paul Ryan said he did not want conservative amendments added to the bill that would drive away his Democratic colleagues.
The committee also rejected an amendment to increase vetting of refugees who enter the United States from the terrorist hotbeds of Syria and Iraq, which had previously passed the House, with 47 Democrats adding strong bipartisan support.
Like I said, the Republicans completely capitulated, just like they always do.

Now the U.S. national debt is nearly double the size that it was just before the last financial crisis struck, and our leaders continue to borrow and spend as if there is no tomorrow.

Perhaps they have convinced themselves that there will never be any consequences for acting so foolishly.
Perhaps they believe that in the end everything will turn out okay somehow.

Perhaps they are able to rationalize the theft of more than a hundred million dollars an hour from future generations of Americans.

But nothing can erase what they have done to us.  The promising future that our children and our grandchildren should have had has been completely wiped out, and the leading edge of the greatest economic crisis that any of us has ever known is now upon us.

If we had done things differently, things wouldn’t have had to turn out this way.  But now the die is cast, and we are all going to pay a very high price for the mistakes that have been made in Washington.

"Who Rules? A Vision Concerning Washington D.C."- Mark Virkler, Cheektowaga, NY - The Elijah List

The vision God gave me concerning Washington D.C. which healed anger and fear:
It occurred during my morning journaling time as I asked God to show me His heavenly perspective and how HE saw Washington D.C. It was a life-changing experience!
Seeing evil: I looked in my mind's eye at Washington D.C. and all I wascorruptionlack of integrity and ineptness. It made me angry and it made me fearful: Angry because no one would stand up and do the right thing, and fearful because their terrible spending habits could destroy the entire economy.
Feeling evil: I realized that anger and fear were not proper fruit in my life, so I decided to journal about this in my morning devotions. I asked Jesus to show up in the picture of Washington in my mind. What I was viewing did not have Jesus in it, so it obviously was a lie since Jesus is everywhere, and because it was a lie, it was producing some pretty ugly emotions.
One Nation Under God - Mike De Lorenzo Seeing Jesus: I put a smile on my face, relaxed, and asked Jesus to show me where He was in the scene.
Into my mind flowed a picture of Jesus enthroned on a throne above Congress and the White House. His long flowing robes were flowing down over Congress and the White House, and His glory was streaming down over the buildings and those who lived and worked in them.
(Photo: One Nation Under God by Mike De Lorenzo via Elijah List Shopper)
Hearing Jesus: He spoke, "I rule in Washington D.C."
Reflection: Well, of course He does. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. And yes, I sure don't know why He puts certain people over us, but the Roman government was far worse than our government, and yet Jesus was clear that they had no power other than what God granted them.
So Pilate said to Him, "Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?" Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above." John 19:10-11
I said, "Yes, but God, they are removing You from all institutions in America!"
God reminds me of His reaction in Scripture to the identical situation...
Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!" Psalm 2:1-3
Will God ever be removed? The nations in David's day were also attempting to remove God from their lives – throw off His moral restraints so they would have no cords to bind them, and they could do anything they pleased.
Well, God wasn't too concerned about their puny efforts...
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; Jehovah shall mock at them. Then He shall speak to them in His anger, and trouble them in His wrath.Psalm 2:4-5
You know, if God can laugh, then I can, too. Laughter is so much better than getting all down in the dumps and getting fearful, angry and depressed. So guess what?
I have decided to laugh and set aside my fear, anger and depression, and I highly recommend you do so, too. It is healing to your whole body, and a testimony to your belief that the Lord is still on His throne.
(Photo by Lillis Boyer "Throne Room Glory: Golden Splendor" via elijahshopper.com)
Taking authority: I can also ask for the nations to become the Lord's, which I do!
Ask of Me, and I shall give the nations for Your inheritance; and the uttermost parts of the earth for Your possession. Psalm 2:8
Church, let's rise up with a victory shout and declare the truth: The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1). and the Most High is Ruler over the realm of mankind (Daniel 4:17)!
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace! Isaiah 9:7

The GOP and Israel By David Rubin November 15, 2015 BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

The GOP and Israel

Growing up in “progressive” New York City, I always believed that the Democrats were the only party in town. Republicans (otherwise known as the GOP, or Grand Old Party) were stereotyped as those “rednecks and hicks who live in the sticks” and no Jew in his right mind could ever dream of voting for them.
My views have evolved since then, not only on the liberal knee-jerk social issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and school prayer, but especially on what is rapidly becoming a major issue in the GOP – Israel.
While most politicians in Congress would claim to be pro-Israel, the overwhelming majority of Congressional Democrats voted for the Iran nuclear deal, which will enable the staunchly anti-Israel Islamic nation to acquire the nuclear bomb within ten years. That agreement was bitterly opposed by most Israelis across the political spectrum.  Furthermore, the leading Democratic candidates for president are on record as supporting an independent Palestinian state. They also oppose Israel’s right to build homes in its ancient and reestablished capital Jerusalem, as well as in its biblical heartland – the regions of Judea and Samaria – mistakenly known to most of the world by the fictional term, the West Bank.

This po‎sition is taken by leading candidate Hillary Clinton, who infamously phoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during her term as Secretary of State to sternly lecture him for 45 minutes about the illegality of Israel granting a building permit to Jews in Israel’s capital city. Her views have not changed.
BIN-OpEd-Experts-300x250(1)
Perhaps it’s time for Jews and other supporters of Israel to take a closer look at the Republicans? Most of the GOP candidates were vehemently opposed to the Iran nuclear deal, and they also tend to support giving Israel a free hand in crushing the terrorism, although some are vague on specifics when it comes to the Palestinian state issue. Let’s examine those who are leading in the polls:
Donald Trump – Trump’s statements about how he loves Israel, and how bad a deal the Iran nuclear deal is, as well as his calls for a very strong American policy against ISIS – all of these are certainly positive, although Mr. Trump has so far been very short on specifics about the Palestinian state issue. His daughter Ivanka is a convert to Judaism and she and her Jewish husband and children are reported to be Sabbath-observant members of an Orthodox synagogue. While that may have a positive influence on Trump’s Land of Israel views, the jury is out until we hear specifics.
Ben Carson – Dr. Carson is on record as opposing the “land for peace” formula of Israel surrendering land in exchange for a peace treaty. In March of 2015, he responded to a questioner, saying, “We need to look at fresh ideas. I don’t have any problem with the Palestinians having a state, but does it need to be within the confines of Israeli territory?” His views tend to be historically/biblically based, which emphasizes that they are genuine and not just produced for political consumption. Carson has also expressed deep concern and has been very vocal about the Islamic Jihadist threat to Western civilization. Such an understanding inherently makes him sympathetic to Israel’s challenges as the one bastion of freedom in the hostile Islamic Middle East.
Support Child Victims of Terror
Ted Cruz – Senator Cruz has spoken out consistently about the importance of letting Israel decide for itself on issues of war and peace and on the Palestinian state issue. He has stated clearly that settlement is an internal Israeli issue that the United States administration should not be involved in. Says Cruz, “I don’t believe an American president should be dictating to the nation of Israel where Israelis can choose to live. And the fact that Israelis choose to live in Judea and Samaria is not justification for terrorism or murder.” It’s also relevant to note that Cruz used the correct historical, biblical terms for the so-called West Bank, making him unique among most of the leading candidates.
Marco Rubio – Rubio has said that if elected, he would not honor the Iran nuclear deal and has also called for the United States to stand with Israel “unconditionally” in its battle against its enemies. While strongly blaming the Palestinian Authority (PA) for the current terrorism and the tensions between Israel and the PA, Sen Rubio has referred to the two state solution, which generally means the land for “peace” formula as the desired goal. He has qualified that by emphasizing that it’s not a realistic goal at this time. According to Rubio, “That’s the ideal outcome, but the conditions for a two-state solution at this moment do not exist.” This places him firmly in the camp of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has repeatedly expressed support for a demilitarized Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria, as long as it recognizes Israel as a Jewish state.
————————————————————————————–
Even though it’s accurate to say that the GOP candidates cited above are sympathetic towards Israel, I agree that it requires great courage for the candidates to be more Jewish than Israel’s political “Pope”, otherwise known as Binyamin Netanyahu. Nonetheless, the difficult question should be asked of the GOP candidates, “If the PA publicly recognizes Israel as a Jewish state and agrees not to have heavy weapons, would he support the establishment of such an Islamic terrorist nation in Israel’s biblical heartland, in the strategically-vital hills overlooking Ben Gurion International Airport?
Shouldn’t that question be asked of Netanyahu, as well?

How to Avoid the Middle-Eastern Shuk (in dealing with Iran)

How to Avoid the Middle-Eastern Shuk

Why weren't Israelis like Benjamin Netanyahu brought in to help broker the Iran nuclear weapons deal?
Why weren't Israelis like Benjamin Netanyahu brought in to help broker the Iran nuclear weapons deal? (Reuters file photo )
Standing With Israel
Two out of every three Americans, and 75 percent of Israelis, are opposed to the administration's deal with Iran because it does not block the world's No. 1 sponsor of terrorism from acquiring nuclear weapons. On the contrary, it legitimizes the very nuclear program Iran denied they had, and allows for their full acceptance as a nuclear state at the end of the agreement
There is a very good possibility that in early September, Congress will be able to muster the votes to at least bring about a show down with the administration, if not actually produce a veto-proof majority vote. One thing is for sure, during the week of the vote, the halls of Congress will be filled with thousands of American citizens lobbying their members of Congress against the deal thanks to a number of groups planning lobbying days, press conferences and rallies then.
Opposing the deal is one thing. But, the question that everyone wants answered is: What is the alternative? Its opponents say the alternative is to broker a better deal. However, the fact is that the American negotiating team will not be able to broker a better deal unless they learn to negotiate like an Iranian.
The Middle-Eastern Shuk
Most Middle Easterners can negotiate Americans under the carpet, because they literally grow up negotiating everything, from the cost of fruits and vegetables in theshuk (market) to higher-priced items like appliances and home goods. Americans only negotiate when they purchase a car or a house. So, what can we learn from the Middle-Eastern shuk?
No. 1: Never pay the stated price. A shopkeeper will not quote the price that he expects you to pay but an inflated price that leaves room for negotiating. Never agree to the stated demand. Always offer less.
No. 2: Never start where you want to end. Once a price has been stated, respond with an offer that is so ridiculously low that it is embarrassing. This is where many Americans stumble, because they do not want to look like they are cheap, nor do they want to insult the poor merchant. But if you do not counter low, you will end up paying too much.
No. 3: Make them think it really hurts. Middle Easterners love to play along with their opponent by telling how much the counter offer hurts while displaying great emotion and perhaps emphatic gestures. Compare this to the average American who usually avoids any display of emotion. They are not used to such reactions, so they will quickly give in and pay the high price thinking they may have insulted or hurt the feelings of their negotiating partner.
No. 4: Don't trust your opponent. Americans are at heart a very honest people, and look down on any type of lying. So, they assume everyone else is telling the truth like they are! In the Middle East though, truth can be sacrificed to achieve the goal of leaving the negotiations with honor and respect back home. Therefore, don't believe everything your opponent says.
No. 5: Be prepared to walk away. When the stakes are high, and the deal being brokered is just not good enough, then the buyer has to be willing to walk out the door. The merchant knows then that he has lost the sale, and he will run after the buyer with a new offer. Being too eager to make a deal is perceived as weakness and will be taken advantage of. Always be willing to walk away.
Only those privy to the negotiations know how well or how poorly the American team did. But, based on their eagerness to close a deal, and the response of the Iranians, who said they got everything they wanted, it appears the American team was out-negotiated.
To broker a better deal with Iran, perhaps we should consider bringing in the Israelis to negotiate for us. They have much more experience in the Middle Eastern shuk.

Israel Spurns US Warnings on Rejecting Iran Deal

Israel Spurns US Warnings on Rejecting Iran Deal

AP file photo
JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli officials rejected U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's latest warnings against Israel's opposition to the Iranian nuclear deal.
"I fear that what could happen if Congress were to overturn it, our friends in Israel could actually wind up being more isolated and more blamed," Kerry told the Council on Foreign Relations Friday.
Responding to Kerry's remarks, an Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The New York Times, "We reject the threats directed at Israel in recent days."
"The U.S. Congress will make its decision based on American interests, which include consideration of its U.S. allies," he said. "The regrettable attempt to intimidate Israel will not prevent us from voicing our concerns about this deal, which poses direct threats to Israel's security."
Earlier Friday, Kerry told NBC's "Today" show it would be "an enormous mistake, a huge mistake with grave consequences for Israel and the region" should Israel decide on a military or cyber-attack on Iran.
Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Yuval Steinitz called Kerry's remarks "unacceptable."
"This hint that if the agreement will be rejected by Congress, then Israel will turn into a scapegoat is unacceptable to us," Steinitz said.
Kerry has warned Israel of dire consequences on several occasions.
In 2013, he predicted Israel would be increasingly isolated and delegitimized if an agreement were not reached with the Palestinian Authority.

Pro-Life Protesters Demand Congress Stop Stalling

Pro-Life Protesters Demand Congress Stop Stalling

WASHINGTON -- Abortion opponents are growing increasingly frustrated with the Republican majority in Congress they worked so hard to elect.

On Thursday, they marched on U.S. House Speaker John Boehner's office for a second time, demanding Congress start passing pro-life legislation.

They especially want lawmakers to pass a 20-week abortion ban. For this protest, they brought life-size models of 20-week old unborn babies.

They wanted to show Congress just how large and well-developed these children are that can still be aborted because Republican leaders in the House won't put a 20-week abortion ban up for a vote.

"Abortion is a scourge on our country. And at 20 weeks, children feel tremendous pain," Lori Hoye, with the Issues for Life Foundation, told CBN News. "And so we need to stop abortion at all levels. Twenty weeks is a good start."

"Protect America's children. Stand with America's children," protest leader Pat Mahoney, with the Christian Defense Coalition, shouted just before the demonstrators marched toward Boehner's office.

They banged repeatedly on Boehner's locked office door, but no one answered.

"This is not normal procedure," Mahoney said to the dozens of protesters and media members gathered around the door. "I've knocked on this door and gone in many times."

Mahoney said if Congress continues to stall, he and his fellow protesters will be back soon.

What's particularly galling to them about the failure of the pro-life majority now controlling Congress to take action is that poll after poll shows 60 percent or more of Americans want a ban on abortions after 20 weeks.

American Jewish Leaders Concerned with Obama Rhetoric

American Jewish Leaders Concerned with Obama Rhetoric

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Washington-based leaders of the American Jewish community are becoming increasingly concerned with the Obama administration's seeming predisposition to criticize and marginalize Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
From their displeasure with Netanyahu's address to Congress in early March to his apology to Israeli Arabs and clarification of his rejection of a "two-state solution," administration spokespersons question his sincerity.
Jerusalem Post Washington correspondent Michael Wilner spoke with several Jewish community leaders Tuesday evening, among them David Harris, executive director of the American Jewish Committee and Abe Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League.
Harris said, "The U.S. appears to have a reasoned interest in prolonging the crisis," something he found a "cause for deep anxiety and puzzlement."
Foxman said he's "troubled by statements now coming out of the White House."
"What we are hearing from the Obama administration raises deeper questions about their intentions and perspectives," noting that "from the beginning of the Obama years, there was a disturbing indifference to the mindset of the Israeli public."

What Speech Means for Netanyahu's Political Future

What Speech Means for Netanyahu's Political Future

Associated Press photo
JERUSALEM, Israel -- While in the U.S., Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warm welcome and much praise. Speaking before Congress, he made a strong case against Iran in what some termed the speech heard round the world.
Now that he's back home, the question is will it make a difference in the upcoming national election.
Some Israeli political analysts say the performance helped his party's chances, but a lot could happen before voters go to the polls in two weeks.
"For voters who have voted Likud in the past, and now are not sure, that Netanyahu's [congressional speech] would be an important help for him. Setting the agenda on security issues, I don't think it clinches the election for him. There's still a long way to go," Guy Lurie, with the Israel Democracy Institute, told CBN News.
According to one poll after the speech, Likud gained two seats. It also showed 44 percent of Israelis believe Netanyahu is most qualified to be prime minister.
While the two main parties remain far apart on issues like economics, the rivals agree on the Jewish state's biggest threat.
"There is not much difference between [Yitzhak] Herzog and Labor and Netanyahu and Likud when it comes to the negotiations with Iran," Bar-Ilan University Prof. Eytan Gilboa told CBN News.
Surprisingly, many commentators from the Gulf Arab nations stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Netanyahu's warning to the United States and criticized President Barack Obama's negotiations with Iran, a country they consider a mortal enemy.
One influential Arab commentator called Obama "the ally of political Islam, [which is] the… mother of [all] the terrorist organizations."
"I am very glad of Netanyahu's firm stance and [his decision] to speak against the nuclear agreement at the American Congress," Saudi columnist Dr. Ahmad Al-Faraj wrote in Al-Arabiyah. "I believe that Netanyahu's conduct will serve our Saudi interests, the people of the Gulf, much more than the foolish behavior of one of the worst American presidents."
And Times of Israel political analyst Haviv Rettig Gur wrote that Netanyahu's speech assured "Sunni Arab peoples and governments… [Notes:that] Israel will hold the line even if America fails us on Iran."
While control of the Knesset is at stake in the upcoming election, the results will be felt throughout the region and around the world.

Even Saudis Want Netanyahu to Address Congress

Even Saudis Want Netanyahu to Address Congress

Tuesday, March 03, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepared on Tuesday to address the US Congress regarding the Iran threat, in direct defiance of the Obama White House, at least one nation outside of Israel was supportive of the move: Saudi Arabia.
Writing in the Saudi daily newspaper Al-Jazirah on Monday, columnist Dr. Ahmad Al-Faraj called Netanyahu’s appearance before Congress under such circumstances “unprecedented in US political history.”
Obama Administration officials and Netanyahu’s political rivals in Israel insisted the speech is a mistake and would only serve to damage US-Israel relations. But Dr. Al-Faraj said the Israeli leader was providing a vital service not only to the Jewish state, but the entire Middle East.
“I am very glad of Netanyahu’s firm stance and [his decision] to speak against the nuclear agreement at the American Congress, despite the Obama administration’s anger and fury,” wrote the Saudi. “I believe that Netanyahu’s conduct will serve our interests, the people of the Gulf, much more than the foolish behavior of one of the worst American presidents.”
Al-Faraj hinted Obama’s naive and dangerous behavior in the Middle East had necessitated someone like Netanyahu taking a bold stand.
“…Obama is the godfather of the prefabricated revolutions in the Arab world, and…he is the ally of political Islam, [which is] the caring mother of [all] the terrorist organizations,” he wrote, suggesting that any deal struck by this particular American president could simply not be trusted.

Netanyahu Arrives in US Capital Sunday - CBN News

Netanyahu Arrives in US Capital Sunday

Courtesy GPO
JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington Sunday evening ahead of his speeches at the American Israel Policy Action Committee (AIPAC) and what has become a highly controversial address to Congress on Iran's nuclear program.
Before boarding the plane with his wife, Sara, Netanyahu said he's embarking on an historic mission just days before Jews observe the Fast of Esther, commemorating the three-day fast in ancient Persia, modern-day Iran, when the Jewish queen risked her life to save her people from annihilation (see Esther 4:16).
"A few days before the Fast of Esther, I am leaving for Washington on a fateful, even historic, mission," Netanyahu said. "I feel that I am the emissary of all Israelis, even those who disagree with me, of the entire Jewish people. I am deeply and genuinely concerned for the security of all Israelis, for the fate of the nation, and for the fate of our people and I will do my utmost to ensure our future."
After praying at the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site, in Jerusalem's Old City Saturday evening, Netanyahu told the press he believes in the strength of U.S.-Israeli relations and the ability to overcome "differences of opinion," as it has been in the past and the future as well.
"On the eve my trip to the U.S., I came here to the Western Wall. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I respect U.S. President Barack Obama. I believe in the strength of the relationship between Israel and the US and in their strength to overcome differences of opinion, those that have been and those that will yet be."
Netanyahu said he's obligated to speak out on behalf of the Jewish state.
"As prime minister of Israel, it is my obligation to see to the security of Israel," he said. "Therefore, we strongly oppose the agreement being formulated with Iran and the major powers, which could endanger our [Israel's] very existence. In the face of this danger we must unite and also explain the dangers stemming from this agreement, to Israel, to the region and to the world."
Netanyahu is scheduled to address participants at the annual AIPAC policy conference mid-morning Monday and a joint session of Congress Tuesday. CBN News will live stream both addresses on its website.
Some experts speculate Netanyahu may share details about Iran that will force the U.S. president to justify the deal he's working on with the Iranians.

Giuliani: Netanyahu Congress Visit a 'No-Brainer'

Giuliani: Netanyahu Congress Visit
a 'No-Brainer'

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani supports Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to address a joint session of Congress in March.

Giuliani arrived in Israel over the weekend to speak at a two-day business conference. He met with Netanyahu on Sunday.

The former mayor told the Jerusalem Post the upcoming congressional address has been blown way out of proportion. Netanyahu is obviously well qualified to speak on the Iranian threat, he said.

Giuliani called House Speaker John Boehner's invitation to Netanyahu "a no-brainer," saying he had little reason to believe President Barack Obama would care.

"The prime minister has addressed Congress before," Giuliani told Israel's Channel 1. "Right now Congress is holding hearings on Iran so this would be the perfect time to ask him to speak."

The former New York City mayor says 70-75 percent of Americans support Netanyahu and an even higher percentage support the State of Israel.

Responding to Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi's warning that Democrats may boycott the speech, Giuliani said he didn't think "they will make that mistake."

"It would be a terrible mistake…to insult the prime minister by not being there for his speech," he said. "I don't think they will make that mistake."

JERUSALEM, Israel -- The White House voiced its displeasure at the invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address to a joint session of Congress on February 11, focusing on Iran and radical Islam.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest called the invitation by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, "a departure from diplomatic protocol."
"The typical protocol would suggest that the leader of a country would contact the leader of another country when he's traveling here," Earnest told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to an event in Idaho.
"That certainly is how President Obama's trips are planned when he travels overseas. This particular event seems to be a departure from that protocol," he said.
Boehner, in turn, told reporters it's well within congressional protocol to invite a speaker without consulting the White House.
"Congress can make this decision on its own," Boehner told the press. "I don't believe I'm poking anyone in the eye. There is a serious threat that exists in the world and the president last night [during the State of the Union speech] papered over it."
In his remarks, Obama said he would veto any legislation that called for new economic sanctions against Iran.
Boehner says American needs "a more serious conversation" about the threat of radical Islam and Iran.
Now that Republicans hold the majority in both houses, the differing perceptions with the White House seem more evident than ever. Still, some Democrats are not happy with the Obama administration's approach to Iran.
"After 18 months of stalling, Iran needs to know that there will be consequences for failure -- and that consequence will be additional sanctions," USA Today quoted Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., at a hearing Wednesday on the status of negotiations with Iran. Menendez co-sponsored legislation that would impose new sanctions on Iran if talks fail.
In an official statement posted on his website, Boehner said, "I am asking the Prime Minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life. Americans and Israelis have always stood together in shared cause and common ideals and now we must rise to the moment again."
For more than a decade, Netanyahu has been warning about the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran, pointing out that Iranian leaders call Israel "the little Satan" and America "the big Satan."
