Why Millennials Are Turned Off by All This End-Time Talk - Jessilyn Justice

Why Millennials Are Turned Off by All This

End-Time Talk

JESSILYN JUSTICE  charisma news

A group of several hundred deliver petitions to the U.S. Capitol in support of the Iran Deal. This generation of believers will not join the church if all they hear is gloom, doom and panic about the future. (Reuters)
It never fails: If the office goes quiet for more than five minutes, I start to look around. If everyone's missing, I have a slow sense of panic that creeps along my spine.
"The Rapture," I think to myself. "It's happened. Uh oh." And then my brain proceeds to remember every terrifying moment of the 40 Kids Left Behind books I read growing up.
As a Christian, Pentecostal millennial, I feel like I am floating between two worlds: One world begs me to look at what's going on in current events—the Iran Deal, ISIS, earthquakes, gay marriage—and take an attitude of godly fear as I steel myself for what's ahead.
The other world takes those same events and begs for an intrinsic analysis: How does the Iran Deal affect my politics and voting choices? Should I send money to help relief work in Nepal? How can I let my gay friends know that I don't hate them for their choices but want to show them the love of God?
It's hard to balance both. On the one hand, I look at the earth literally trembling and think to myself, "Well, won't be long now!
But on the other hand, I remind myself that persecution and natural disasters have happened for millennia, and we're just more aware now because of the advent of the Internet and social media.
Imagine being alive during the Roman reign, Spanish Inquisition, Bloody Mary, slavery, any of the World Wars—I'm pretty sure those felt like the end of the world to Christians then.
Yet, we remain. We move on as countries, as people. We build our families and live our lives.
However, I'm from a generation that's looking to our future, and days to come can be intimidating when the headlines are full of despair. The more stories I read about the gut-wrenching attacks against Saeed Abedini, unborn children, Coptic Christians or even U.S. citizens who didn't want to bake cakes for someone they didn't agree with, the more I wonder just how close we are to Christ's return.
Tack those observations on to the blood moon and Shemitah patterns, and my head starts to spin.
Whether or not we are in the end of times, what I do know is bemoaning the state of affairs without an appeal to Heaven with a sense of hope will do nothing to improve our condition.
When we talk about end times, I think there's a sense of fear mongering that exists in the form of warnings. Someone close to me once confessed she grew up believing she would never get married, have children or live to even to her 20th birthday because the Antichrist was coming.
Trust me when I say this friend is alive and kicking, well past those milestones and looking forward to many more. But until she conquered her fear and realized that Christ is still on the throne, she couldn't live the life He planned for her.
When we live in a state of fear about the future, we hinder ourselves from celebrating what Christ can do in the now and how we can affect the future for His glory.
Are we so caught up in warning about the downfall of the American church and the eventual return of Jesus that we forget to serve the poor, to encourage one another, to spend time just loving on the Holy Spirit? The early church was founded on these attributes, and it transformed the world and enabled the gospel to spread further than anyone could imagine!
The beautiful thing about the millennial generation is our tenacity, our desire to work to make the community we live in better. We aren't looking at the coming days with a sense of trepidation or fatalism about the downfall of America.
Rather, we're looking for answers to reconstruct the building blocks of society. Some may call us spoiled, ungrateful, addicted and selfish. But those "weaknesses" can also be strengths, because we've seen the good and want to improve upon it.
We don't settle for tradition because someone told us to. Instead, we're searching for answers, and that includes diving into the Bible to fill that God-shaped hole in our lives.
When Christian headlines scream about the negative, we tune that out because it doesn't enhance the world we live in. Christians have an incredible opportunity to walk out their lives like Christ did. Yes, Christ got angry, but He sought justice in His indignation. We need older generations of Christians to show us how to do this.
If we are in the end times, I think I would rather have a mentor guiding me to show others how they can be one with Christ rather than someone who goes, "There were signs! Look at the signs!"
Let's take those signs and turn them into practical steps, sharing the gospel so that none shall perish, as is God's wish in 2 Peter 3:9.
If all millennials hear about the future of the church is gloom and doom that's decaying because of society, how can we expected to join the cause? Just like a flower will not grow if you yell and stomp on it, saying, "Look at all these thorns, you won't be able to survive these attacks," you can't tell this generation of believers that we won't survive what's to come.
In such a time as this, I feel called to be a peacemaker. I want to be known by my fruit—by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control—not by my fear.
The first thing a messenger of the Lord will tell those he visits is "Fear not." In all this talk of the end times, I feel like we've forgotten that element, and in doing so, we are scaring off believers who want the simplicity of the gospel: For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son.
In such a time as this, it is vital that we seek first the kingdom of God, as the Bible says, and His righteousness. Then, and only then, will our clarity come.

WATCH: Decoding the Key Words in Revelation Unlocks End-Times Mysteries

WATCH: Decoding the Key Words in Revelation Unlocks End-Times Mysteries

As if Revelation isn't confusing enough for us, imagine being John.
According to author Carl Gallups, what John described has been happening for years, but we just didn't put it into context.
"How does a man who's riding camels and walking everywhere he goes 2,000 years ago on a rock island in the Roman Empire, how does he describe nuclear bombs and nuclear plant disasters and how does he describe warfare and tanks and helicopters and skyscrapers and interstate highways and automobiles and airplanes and space shuttles?"
So he used the words he knew. Turns out we may have seen some of the signs he wrote of.
Check it out.

Is America Preparing for God's End Times Blessings?

Is America Preparing for God's End Times Blessings?

Will America receive its blessing in the end times, or will it turn its back on Israel?

Standing With Israel
In the Last Days, God will align the nations back to Himself. However, as we know the ways of God are Holy, so also will be the ways of those nations He directs to become His vessels.
In order for the nations to become a vessel of blessing, there are a number of prerequisites.
Becoming a recipient of the Abrahamic Covenant to bless one's nation involves binding your nation to Israel.
God is a Holy God and His ways are Holy.

Isaiah 14:1-2 says, "The Lord will once again have compassion on Jacob; once again He will choose Israel and will settle then in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob. Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maid servants in the Lord's land."
Isaiah 56:6-8 says, "And foreigners who bind themselves to The Lord to serve Him, to love the Name of The Lord, and to worship Him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant—these will I bring to my Holy Mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a House of Prayer for all nations." The Sovereign Lord declares—He who gathers the exiles of Israel. "I will gather still others to them besides already gathered."
A man or maidservant works in the service of another; a servant works at someone's home. In this case, it is the House of The Lord. What an honor it would be for those nations that are selected.
God is making it very clear that those nations that will be part of this end-time blessing are those that bind themselves to Israel.
The Destiny of your nation will forever be linked to God's intent that is to honor Israel and bless her as He prepares the Messiah Jesus Christ to arrive.
Binding your nation to Israel by praying for the Jewish people and making Jerusalem a praise in the Earth is one element in preparing to become a vessel of blessing.
Becoming a recipient of the Abrahamic Covenant to bless one's nation by blessing Israel also involves examining the soil of your heart.
Romans 12:2 reads, "And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Isaiah 40:1 says, "Comfort ye, comfort ye my people saith The Lord." It is God's design to use His servants to bring His comfort to His people.
Remember, God Himself is selecting the servant nations and those who make up those nations. God is examining your heart every day.
Would God use anyone to bring this comfort? Remember, it is His form of comfort.
Examining the purity of your heart will now be examined by looking at the Tabernacle of David that God is now reviving.
The Restoration of Israel and the Tabernacle of David go hand in hand. You can understand God's love for Israel by the attention He places on the Tabernacle.
"In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David which is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof, and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old" (Amos 9:11).
God is restoring the true pattern of worship. God has promised in His Word to bring us back to His paths in the last days. Those nations that will become a key to blessing Israel are those who conform to the Image of God's Son. In the same vein, God is using this caring attitude towards restoration of Israel.
The Tabernacle of David illustrates the true pattern of worship, reverence and intimacy that God designed and always intended for His people.
It is a plan for royal priests and kings whom God is calling and who are preparing themselves in the last days. The tabernacle of David is a path to bridal intimacy.
David's Tabernacle illustrates the intimacy and open pathway to the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.
At the same time that God is restoring Israel, He is bringing His bride into the true pattern of worship and adoration again.
We are at a time of harvest revelation and God is fulfilling His spoken Word.
The Old and New Testament are being united in the person of the Bride. God is reviving His "called out ones" for the wedding of the Lamb.
As God prepares the nations for Himself, He is restoring His priesthood, His Kingship, and His eternal rule through His church.
Let us examine a few of these physical elements of the Tabernacle of David.
The Brazen Altar is the place of the cross and repentance and the Brazen Laver is where the continual washing of the water of God's Word is illustrated.
We are to wash daily in the water of the Word that feeds our spirit and cleanses our hearts.
The Physical Tabernacle was also made up of physical furniture.
The Golden Lampstand represents the seven spirits of God. The lamps, symbolically lit by the oil of the Holy Spirit of God, burned day and night, never to go out. We, too, are to have our spirits burning like fire day and night.
The Table of Shewbread represented a picture of the Son of God, the one who is the Bread of Life. It is the place of fresh manna. The bread is soaked in olive oil, which speaks of our being filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit.
The Altar of Incense represents perfect prayer and intercession. Jesus gave His life and offered Himself up as our Royal Priest. He became the perfect sacrifice, the perfect Intercessory incense offered to God.
It is important to look at each of these physical pieces in the Tabernacle of David to establish in our minds an idea of God's Holiness and examine the order and place of these pieces.

The Shemitah: Four Months Until Financial Ruin?

The Shemitah: Four Months Until Financial Ruin?

Wall Street
With the super Shemitah rapidly approaching, is Wall Street about to take a devastating turn? (Carlo Allegri/Reuters)
According to Rabbi Jonathan Cahn's timeline, the "great shaking" is almost upon us. And while the New York Times best-selling author is quick to point out that God is not bound by the cycle, it doesn't bode well for the United States.
Prolific author Paul McGuire agrees, and come September—the beginning of the Super Shemitah—America could face financial ruin because of how the country has turned away from God.
"Our founding fathers understood that God is and was our source, and so that is that the fundamental principle of economic prosperity." McGuire said at the Prophecy in the News Conference. "The fundamental (principle) of economic prosperity is understanding that the source and everything you need is God Almighty. So when any individual or nation understands that the source of their economic blessing is God, they open the door to the powerful possibility of economic prosperity. The economic enginges begin to roar, the creative ideas that produce money and technology and businesses and entrepreurshiop begin to explode. It's God that gives the power to get wealth."
But when the nation turns away, it loses that blessing.
As America makes the profane sacred—such as gay marriage, sexual lifestyles outside of marriage, abortion, etc.—Cahn can't help but point to parallels with Israel.
"The Sabbath year was called the Shemitah, but it's to be blessing for Isarel. But when Israel turns away from God, what happen is the Shemitah comes back at them not as blessing but as a sign of judgment on a nation that has driven God out of its life," Cahn says. "And that strikes the financial realm, the economic realm and the blessings of prosperity or sustenance for the nation. Shemitah blessings turn to a curse when God is driven out."
And as we approach September and October—Cahn expects a wipe-out on Wall Street. Historically, he's accurate.
Black Tuesday was Oct. 29, 1929
Sept. 11, 2001 had immense economic impacts.
In September 2008, the U.S. treasury seized control of mortgage giants to help balance losses.
Those are all Shemitah years. When the Shemitah year began last September, the United States lost it's financial superiority to China, sending stocks plummeting
With these results, the future doesn't bode well—especially with the super Shemitah beginning in September—even by secular standards, for the global economy. CNBC predicts plunging oil prices, an anemic global growth and spiked inflation for emerging economies.
C-SPAN reports predictions that the Federal Reserve policy, as well as Congress' ability to govern could affect the economy improving. The stock Market-Barometer advises caution in its financial forecast.
With so many markets depending on each other for financial success, McGuire says this is an indicator of the end times.
"And the Bible says that in the end times, in the last days, that there will come a one-world economic system, a false prophet who will administrate the one-world economic system and the one-world economic system will be integrated with the one world religion, and this will culminate in a cashless society," McGuire says. "The world system is a control system that is both spiritual and economic. Money is all about captivity, slavery and control. That is its essential purpose. It's essential purpose is not an economic instrument of exchange. It's about control and the occult and spirituality."
The interwoven aspect of finances and spirituality comes into play as America seeks to legalize same-sex marriage, creating a slippery slope for sexuality and gender identity, which further distances us from God the creator.
Many arguments around marriage equality center around tax benefits, and as the church continues to depend on the government for tax-exempt statuses, as well as programs to care for the impoverished, money again comes into play. Governments, at both the local and state levels, are levying taxes against residents, taking away from their financial gain
A complete turnaround from our dependence on the Lord is leading us to fall on our knees financially, both Cahn and McGuire say. As the Shemitah approaches toward the end of the year, our only hope is an appeal to heaven.

7 Positive End-Times Signs Unfolding Now - PERRY STONE

7 Positive End-Times Signs Unfolding Now

Miracle field
Seven events have transpired and continue to unfold that are a part of the restitution and give evidence of the return of Christ. (Flickr/Kevin Lallier)
Not all signs related to the return of Christ are negative (as are wars, famines, earthquakes, and so on) in nature. Many are very encouraging and exciting. There are seven events that have transpired and are continuing to unfold that are a part of the restitution and give evidence of the coming of Christ. They are:
  1. Israel would be restored as a nation in one day (Isa. 66:7-8; Zech. 3:9; Hos. 3:4-5).
  2. The land would begin to blossom and be fruitful (Isa. 35:1-8; 27:6).
  3. Water would break out in the desert for irrigation (Isa. 35:6-7; 41:18).
  4. Jerusalem would be in Jewish hands and expand its borders (Ps. 102:16).
  5. Jews from Gentile nations outside Palestine would return back to Israel (Isa. 43:5-6; Jer. 16:14-16).
  6. The early and latter rains would return in the last days (Hos. 6:3; Joel 2:23; Amos 4:7).
  7. The walls of Jerusalem would be rebuilt by strangers and the gates be open continually (Isa. 60:1-11).
Israel's restoration process began during the 1800s with the birth of the Zionist Movement, but it was manifested to the world on May 14-15, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion made a proclamation declaring a new state for Jews called Israel. Part of the proclamation read: "The State of Israel will be open for immigration of Jews from all countries of their dispersion." Within hours, Arab armies advanced toward the infant nation to abort the plan. Just as ancient Israel had to deal with seven nations living around them in Joshua's time (Deut. 7:1), in 1948 the Jews had to deal with troops from seven surrounding Arab nations who announced the Jews would be "thrown into the sea." A war of independence was waged in which Israel survived against amazing odds. Today they boast one of the most advanced militaries in the world.
One of Ben-Gurion's goals was to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah and make the desert blossom with vegetation. In 1953, at age 67, Ben-Gurion resigned as prime minister of Israel to pursue his dream. This former Israeli leader and his wife, Paula, moved into a three-room wooden prefab hut at Sde Boker in the desolate Negev Desert. It was a dry, empty, sun-baked landscape. Years later, Beersheba, the hometown of Abraham, became a large town, and today more than 54 farms are scattered throughout a region called the Arabah—the Negev and the southern part of Israel—producing tomatoes, peppers, melons and a host of fruits and vegetables. Today, the desert is blossoming.
Ben-Gurion and other early Israeli settlers were also responsible for laying water pipelines to assist in irrigation. Years later, U.S. satellites discovered a huge reservoir of water under the desert, which today is pumped out and is the lifeblood used in the drip irrigation process, enabling the desert to blossom with agricultural life.
In 1967, Egyptian military forces, headed by Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, threatened Israel and were planning an attack. Israel preempted the assault with an air campaign, destroying Egypt's air force while the planes were still on the runway. During this Six-Day War involving Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, Israeli paratroopers seized the eastern (Arab) half of Jerusalem. At this time, this section was known as the country of Transjordan. At the conclusion of the war, Israel annexed both East and West Jerusalem together, forming a united Jerusalem under Israeli control. At that moment Jerusalem was united as one city without walls and became the long-promised capital of Israel.
Although from 1948 to 1967 Jews continually immigrated to Israel from surrounding nations, the Russian Jews living behind the Iron Curtain were forbidden visas to exit the communist stronghold. In the latter part of the 1980s, with the approval of Mikhail Gorbachev, Jews received visas to return from the north country of the Soviet Union back to Israel, thus fulfilling the promises God gave them through Jeremiah and Isaiah thousands of years ago.
Years later, in the early 1990s, there was a sudden return of the physical rains that soaked the soil of Israel, thus replenishing and nourishing the farmland, the deserts and the Upper Golan Heights. As the windows of heaven were opened, once-dry riverbeds were flowing with fresh water. It was a sign of the return of the latter rains upon the land.
Today, the old city of Jerusalem is shared by the world's three monotheistic religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Out of the eight gates built in the walls of the old city, only one, the Eastern Gate, remains sealed with large stones. All other gates are opened to citizens and visitors. Children are seen strolling along the streets continually amidst noisy buses and cars, occasionally darting in and out of the crowd that fills avenues throughout the day.
