Floods in France – and their Israel policy - Charles Gardner ISRAEL TODAY

Floods in France – and their Israel policy

Sunday, June 05, 2016 |  Charles Gardner  ISRAEL TODAY
Although news of the devastation caused by flooding in France and Germany has rightly elicited both shock and sympathy, I couldn’t help connecting it with the new ‘peace’ efforts Europe is trying to foist on Israel. And it now looks like President Obama will be supporting the French plan to impose Palestinian demands upon Israel.
As I’ve outlined in my book Peace in Jerusalem (olivepresspublisher.com) in a chapter headed God’s political storms – sparked off by controversy over the floods that beset Britain two years ago – natural disasters have accompanied virtually every attempt by the U.S. Government to impose a ‘two-state solution’ on the Jewish state which would divide the land in direct contravention of God’s Word.
For God has made clear that he will judge those who scatter his people among the nations and divide up his land (Joel 3.2). And Psalm 83 paints an accurate picture of the policy and intentions of Israel’s enemies, such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, who say, “Come, let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more” (verse 4). And the same psalm calls on the God of Israel to pursue the plotters “with your tempest and terrify them with your storm” (verse 15).
George Bush Sr’s “land for peace” Oslo Accord of October 31, 1991, was followed the very next day by “The Perfect Storm”, as it was dubbed, which ended up demolishing his own home. A year later, on the very day he presided over further moves to push this agreement, Hurricane Andrew – the worst natural disaster ever to hit America at that time – destroyed over 180,000 homes in Florida, causing over $30 billion in damage.
And I have cited a string of similar such incidents in my book including, perhaps most notably, the terrible floods that struck New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, just as Jews were being evicted from their homes in Gaza as part of a ‘peace’ plan Israel was pressured into accepting by America and the international community. But Gaza subsequently became the launch-pad for constant rocket fire aimed at the destruction of Israel, which is the ultimate aim of the Palestinian Authority and its allies.
The politicians may mock, but the Almighty is watching over his own special piece of property, and Western leaders are invoking disasters on their people, costing many lives and billions of dollars. Yet few apparently see the link with their foolish stubbornness in defying the God of Israel.
To those who don’t believe God is in the business of judgment in an ‘age of grace’, reference the striking down of Ananias and Sapphira for lying to the Holy Spirit in the very early days of the church (Acts 5.1-10). And to those who reckon he doesn’t interfere with weather patterns, reference the occasion when he stilled the storm with a word on the Sea of Galilee.
“What kind of man is this?” his disciples asked each other afterwards. “Even the winds and the waves obey him.” (Matthew 8.23-27)
Oh that we too – and our leaders – would seek more than anything to obey the Lord of the universe!

Israel Celebrates 49th Jerusalem Day - Israel Today Staff

Israel Celebrates 49th Jerusalem Day

Sunday, June 05, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
Jerusalem Day is being celebrated across Israel on Sunday, marking 49 years since the capital's reunification in the Six-Day War. Memorial services will be held during the day for fallen soldiers of the six-day war.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will hold a reception for citizens of the capital from 3:30pm to 5pm today at the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem in the Old City.
This year, as in every year, the center of the festivities will be the traditional Flag Dance procession, organized by the Am K'lavi association. The parade will begin at 4pm in the city center and will continue to the Western Wall via Damascus Gate and the Muslim Quarter. The Israel Police have advised that they will operate "uncompromisingly against any attempt to violate law and order" and called on the participants "to refrain from physical or verbal violence."
Starting in the afternoon, performances and other events organized by neighborhood councils are to take place across the city, culminating with the Student Day celebrations in Sacher Park with a marathon of performances that are to last all night.
This evening the Muslim festival of Ramadan begins and the Israel police are strengthening forces in Jerusalem's Old City ahead of the annual parade to prevent any incitement and attacks.

Dogs - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Dogs

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind"; and it was so. God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:24-25, NKJV)

For a long time I considered writing about dogs, but didn’t think it would be a good Now Think On This message. My thought was, “Why would the Lord have me write about dogs?” But now I feel so led. (Sorry cat lovers. I probably will never write about cats. Just not my cup of tea.)

Because I believe the Lord will have us enjoy His creation of creatures also in heaven, how appropriate that we can share that love for them while on this earth. After all, He created them even before He created mankind, so it wasn’t an afterthought of His. All of His creation of birds, fish, reptiles and mammals are quite a feat. But it seems that dogs have been especially helpful, loyal, and the favorite of most people.

For a long time our family did not have a dog. A few stray cats had made their way into our lives over the years (for the kids’ sake, not mine) and even a white rabbit was a wholesome pet. Finally, ten years ago, as a fulfillment of a promise I had made to my good wife Laurie, our Dachshund Zoe was the hit Christmas present of the year. She remains a joy in our home yet today – a few inches longer and a lot of pounds heavier.

I am fascinated by dogs. As I watch them in their daily motions, one of which is how they respond when seeing a friend or family member, it brings delight. With the tail wagging, the eyes lit up, and even a playful bark in greeting, their expression of love does the spirit good. Even the wet licks of love, another kind showing of affection, keeps spreading more of their own joy to the other.

One can learn patience from them. Waiting at the front door for the home arrival of the family member, it seems that time does not deter them as the clock ticks by. They will wait as long as it takes.

They are content with the simple things they have – a favorite toy chased after during playtime; a tossed bone after the dinner table is cleared; a treat given to them once they have returned from the morning outing. For some it is the words, “Want to go bye-bye?” which brings a run to the door, knowing a ride in the car with the window down, and head out of it, is coming. It doesn’t take a whole lot to please a dog.

A dog is a true companion when one is sick, or lonely, or just wanting to share a time on the path walkway with another. Their presence seems to bring the peace of the Lord. Their protective nature guards the home and family in a way no other sense of duty can. With a keen nose and sensitive ears, they are ready at all times.

With an attitude of thanksgiving, I am glad we have a dog. She is yet another demonstration of the Lord’s love for us, and His display of His vast and amazing creativity.

Hospital halts abortions after every single doctor refused to commit them - CALVIN FREIBURGER LIVE ACTION NEWS

Hospital halts abortions after every single doctor refused to commit them

Abortions have come to an end at Specialist Hospital Pro-Familia in Rzeszów, Poland, after all the hospital’s gynecologists signed a conscience clause opting out of committing the procedure.
The decision affirms that abortion, the killing of an innocent child, is not health care, but a violation of the role of doctors to heal and not harm.
Abortion is illegal in Poland except to save a mother’s life, or in cases of rape or genetic abnormalities, although controversy arose on January 14, when midwife Agata Rejman exposed the hospital for committing abortions two years ago, Rzeszow News reports.
Hospital management threatened to sue Rejman if she did not retract her statements, but pro-lifers protested the hospital to support Rejman. The hospital also filed criminal and civil charges against two of the protesters for characterizing abortion as killing, thereby harming its reputation and business, though the criminal court cleared them of wrongdoing.
Now SHPF has ceased abortions, effectively ending the controversy, although hospital director Radoslaw Skiba denies the conscience signatures convinced management to change. Natalia Dueholm reported for LifeSiteNews:
The first reason for the change is associated with the 2015 decision of the Constitutional Court giving doctors the right to sign the conscience clause. Another reason is linked with the owners and experiences of a Pro-Familia sister hospital located in Łódź. Professor Dariusz Borowski, who owns the second Pro-Familia, admitted that “there were discussions on the subject. We showed which way would be just and brave.” Ultimately, Pro-Familia in Rzeszów followed the lead of her sister-hospital, which has a long and fruitful relationship with a local perinatal hospice run by Fundacja Gajusz.

Nevertheless, Polish pro-lifers are taking the case as a sign for hope. “One Pro-familia doctor thought back then that abortions should be performed in every hospital in Poland,” Mariusz Dzierżawski of Poland’s Right to Life Foundation noted, but “if the hospital most aggressive against pro-life activists can stop killing the unborn, then any and every hospital can and should do it. Only courage and perseverance are needed.”

How to Live When Christians Are Seen as Extremists - CBN News

How to Live When Christians Are Seen as Extremists
06-03-2016

Christians were once seen as a positive force in American society. That's changing.
Today, many Americans label Christians as irrelevant and extreme.
Not so long ago, these people were seen as the extremists: rifle-brandishing ISIS militants, the Paris and Brussels attackers, the Boston marathon bombers.
Today, it's increasingly people who wear the label "Christian."
Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven? You're an extremist.
Have you ever prayed for someone you don't know? Extremist.
Do you believe marriage is meant to be between one man and one woman? Extremist.
Many people of faith are finding it harder than ever to live out their convictions. They feel as though religion is being pushed to the margins.
Best-selling authors David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons say don't despair, it's still possible to be a faithful Christian in the public square.
Kinnaman talks about how to live as a Christian in today's increasingly hostile cultural environment, on The 700 Club.

Worst Jobs Report In Nearly 6 Years – 102 Million Working Age Americans Do Not Have Jobs - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

You Are Fired - Public Domain

Posted: 03 Jun 2016   Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

This is exactly what we have been expecting to happen.  On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the U.S. economy only added 38,000 jobs in May.  This was way below the 158,000 jobs that analysts were projecting, and it is also way below what is needed just to keep up with population growth.  In addition, the number of jobs created in April was revised down by 37,000 and the number of jobs created in March was revised down by 22,000.  This was the worst jobs report in almost six years, and the consensus on Wall Street is that it was an unmitigated disaster.

The funny thing is that the Obama administration says that the unemployment rate actually went down last month.  Almost every month since Obama has been in the White House, large numbers of Americans that have been unemployed for a very long time are shifted from the “unemployment” category to the “not in the labor force” category.  This has resulted in a steadily falling “unemployment rate” even though the percentage of the population that is actually working has not changed very much at all since the depths of the last recession.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics claims that the number of Americans “not in the labor force” increased by 664,000 from April to May.  If you believe that, I have a giant bridge on the west coast that I would like to sell you.  The labor force participation rate is now down to 62.6, and it is hovering just above a 38 year low.

When you add the number of working age Americans that are “officially unemployed” (7.4 million) to the number of working age Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force” (an all-time record high of 94.7 million), you get a grand total of 102.1 million working age Americans that do not have a job right now.

This is not a game.

So far in 2016, three members of my own extended family have lost their jobs.

According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, layoffs at major firms are running 24 percent higher up to this point in 2016 than they were during the same time period in 2015.

It was only a matter of time before those layoffs started showing up in the official employment numbers, and I fully expect that this trend will accelerate in the months ahead.

And here are some other brand new numbers for you to consider…

-Since Barack Obama entered the White House, 14,179,000 Americans have “left the labor force” according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

-The quality of our jobs continues to deteriorate.  In May, 59,000 full-time jobs were lost, but 118,000 part-time jobs were gained.

-Since September 2014, 207,000 mining jobs have been lost.

-We just learned that U.S. factory orders have declined once again.  This marks the 18th month in a row that this has taken place, and we have never seen such an extended decline outside of a major recession.

-JPMorgan’s “recession indicators” have just soared to the highest level that we have seen since the last recession.

Needless to say, the financial community is pretty horrified by all of this news.  They were expecting a much better jobs report, and many of them are not hiding their disappointment.  Here is one example from the Wall Street Journal
This was an unqualified dud of a jobs report,” said Curt Long, chief economist at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, noting “the unemployment rate fell, but for the wrong reason as labor force participation declined for the second consecutive month.”
And here is another example that comes from David Donabedian, the chief investment officer at Atlantic Trust Wealth Management…
We can’t find a positive nugget in today’s job report. If we were looking for signs of strength in this report, there is nothing to hang onto here.”
But of course the mainstream media is doing their best to put a positive spin on these numbers.  For instance, CNN just published a laughable article entitled “America’s economy is stronger than weak jobs report“.
And the White House insists that this new employment report really isn’t that big of a deal
The White House doesn’t get “too disappointed” over the number of unemployed and underemployed Americans.
“I’ve been reacting to jobs numbers here at the White House for more than seven years, and what is true today has been true in the past, which is, we don’t get too excited when jobs numbers are better than expected and we don’t get too disappointed when jobs numbers one-month are lower than expected,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told CNBC.
But of course the truth is that it is a really big deal.  We just received major confirmation that the U.S. economy has slipped into recession mode.

For months, I have been writing about how virtually every other indicator has been screaming that a new economic crisis had already begun.

But the employment numbers had remained fairly decent up until now.  Employment is typically considered to be a “lagging indicator”, which means that it isn’t one of the first places we would expect to see signs of a recession show up.  However, it is inevitable that the official unemployment numbers will reflect an economic downturn eventually, and that is what we are starting to see now.

What this means is that you probably have even less time to get prepared for what is ahead than you may have originally thought.

The U.S. economy has already entered the early chapters of the next great economic crisis, and most of the population is going to be caught totally off guard and will suffer tremendously.

If our leaders had made better decisions since the last crisis, things could have turned out differently.  But instead, they continued to conduct business as usual, and now we will reap what they have sown.
